The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

The deeper part of the woods was fresher than the previous part he'd been to before. The trees were more abundant, and that's why, most likely, the air was cooler and the sun didn't have such an effect on the surface. At least, that's what Link felt at the moment. Even so, it still was a comfortable temperature.
"I have confirmed that the plant life of this area matches that of Faron Woods. We have reached the area locally referred to as the Deep Woods."
"Is it my imagination, or this area is fresher?"
"For now, it is. But up ahead, the trees are not as abundant as right here, Master. Now, we should continue toward the temple in search of Zelda."
Link nods and gets annoyed after walking into the clearing up ahead. Another bokoblin. They seemed endless.
After dispatching of it, he continues and goes down a path that let him see a great part of the area. And what he saw made him gulp. A chasm. This area had a chasm, and he couldn't see the bottom. A wrong step and he would most likely die. Ace wouldn't be able to fly down the barrier, and even if he could, he wouldn't be able to catch him on time.
But that was not all. The next patch of floor ahead was impossible to reach, unless he walked on a rope. He didn't know if he could do it, considering the gear he was wearing on his back, and that the sword could possibly unbalance his weight, which would cause him to drop easily. He shakes his head. He couldn't be scared about something like that. He needed to get to Zelda right away. A stupid rope couldn't stop him.
He takes his Slingshot and aims a shot toward a beehive hanging off a branch at the side of the rope. It falls into the chasm below. He gulps as he tries to hear the sound of it crashing, but the sound never reachs his ears.
He sighs, partially because he was trying to suppress his nervousness of having to cross a rope over an endless pit, and partially relieved that he had the Slingshot, because he'd suffered a sting once, and his allergies were strong. At least when he was a kid. It happened when he was 11. In less than half an hour, his skin had started to itch, and after an hour, his head had started to hurt and he had felt dizzy. He was around the plaza, returning to the academy so he could go to classes after having lunch at Pipit's house. While going to the academy, he had started having difficulty breathing and some nausea. Before being able to reach the classroom, he fell unconcious. Zelda had found him passed out cold on the floor right away, for she was already in the classroom and had heard him hitting the floor. He hadn't been able to eat much for the hole day; his swelled throat wouldn't let him. It had been horrible.
He flinches at the memory. Even if he didn't fall, the sting would surely kill him if not treated.
"Ugh..." He shakes his head. At least Zelda had been with him the whole time to ensure he was alright and recovering.
He taps the rope with his foot to ensure that it was safe to cross. He starts walking carefully and trying to balance himself when loosing some of his equilibrium. He crosses safely and sighs, shaking his nervousness away. He'd come to realise by now that he would do dangerous things just to find Zelda; he would cross a hundred — no, a thousand more ropes — if it meant reuniting with her. He missed her and her bossy personality toward him terribly.
He continues down the path, dispatching off more bokoblins. By that time, his sword had started to drip blood, and he stopped a bit to clean it with a clean cloth he'd found inside the pouch Fledge had given him. Fi resided within it; keeping it clean and shiny should be one of his responsibilities.
For the next 15 minutes, he crosses the chasm through stone ledges and ropes. He managed to hang from the rope and swing himself so a bokoblin that had started to walk on it fell. He smirks at his wild ideas.
On his way to the temple, he finds another Bird Statue and almost gets bit by a yellow Deku Baba that could open its mouth both vertically and horizontally. It took him by surprise, but the only thing that got damaged was his shield, with some new scrapes. He even had to take out a tooth of the Deku Baba that had lodged itself into the wood. He was grateful, though. The monster had released seeds that he store into the bag the elder had given him along with the Slingshot.
He soon arrives at the entrance of the temple Bucha had told him about, which had another Bird Statue at the base of some stairs that led straight to the closed doors.
"Master Link." Fi calls out at his side, and he turns to look at her. "I have detected Zelda's aura emanating from within this structure that I recognize as Skyview Temple." They look at the doors. "However, I have also detected the presence of numerous monsters. Are you sure you want to proceed?"
"Of course! The sooner I start, the sooner I find Zelda!"
Fi nods in understanding. "I agree, but it would be unwise to display overconfidence here. Within the walls of this temple, no one will come to your aid. If you feel unprepared, you may consider returning to the sky and properly equip yourself with a new shield and buy another potion if needed."
Link looks at the statue. It would be a good idea to provide himself with a new shield, but he was eager to find Zelda within the temple, and didn't want to waste more time.
"Let us continue with Zelda's search once you are ready, Master."
She fades into the sword and he walks up the stairs and toward the doors. He pushes them, but they don't seem to budge.
He steps backwards and looks around. Above the door, there was a red switch that seemed to be composed by little cubes. He takes the Slingshot and shots a seed, which collides into the switch. The switch separates in numerous cubes that turn grey.
The doors open before him. He looks at the staircase that led him into the temple. They went down, into a dark place.
He sighs. He was ready.
He walks down the staircase and into Skyview Temple.
The air inside the building was damp and smelled of moss. Glowing mushrooms grew everywhere, liting the area with a faint light. The place felt cold, but not uncomfortably so.
Fi appears in front of him. "Master, I have bad news."
"What is it, Fi?" He looks at her, worried.
"The auras of many creatures reverberate throughout this temple... As a result, I can't isolate Zelda's aura. Therefore, you will not be able to track her here." Link sighs. "Given the situation, I suggest you continue and look around to see where we should move next."
Fi fades into the handle and Link starts walking. The temple was filled with quietness, and the echo of his boots tapping against the cold stone floor reverberated and returned to him.
A thick spiderweb blocked his path, and he had to cut it to make his way through. A keese tried to bite him, but Link was fast enough and sliced it in half.
At the end of the corridor, which seemed to be rounding a circular chamber on the middle, there were some vines which he climbed so as to reach another of those red switches. He makes the blade collide against the jewel-like switch, and he hears a metallic sound behind him; most likely, the door he'd seen near the vines.
Before going down, a Deku Baba lunges at him. Link jumps at the sudden movement, but manages to dispatch off the creature easily.
Within the door, there was a chamber with some stairs that led to a little circular platform in the middle. A blue eye looked at him from the wall.
"What the hell?" He takes out his sword and the eye seems to follow the movement.
He moves the sword to the sides, and the eye follows likewise. Suddenly, he has an idea: getting it to start feeling dizzy. Maybe that was a way of opening the door below it.
He moves the sword in a fast, circular motion, and the eye follows at the same speed. After some seconds, the eye changes into an orange color and falls to the floor, exploding in a black mist.
"Well, that was easy." He scoffs.
The next door led him into a corridor with two Deku Babas hanging from the ceiling. Link doesn't break a sweat in killing them with a swift slash.
The chamber the corridor led him into was filled with vines everywhere, and there was a discarded log on the floor, at the end of the room. It could be useful to get to the door at the end, which was locked with a keyhole.
The key? He had no idea where he could find it.
There were two doors: one to the right and one to the left. The one on the right had a switch above it, but the other one did not. He jumps down, and falls a meter below. He searchs for the switch everywhere, and only finds it when going below a stone archway, which upper part of the stone led to the room at the left.
He goes up again with some vines and crosses the newly opened door.
A green bokoblin was waiting for him.
He gets annoyed and pushes it off its feet, bashing his shield into its face, and performs an ending blow, jumping over the creature and piercing its chest.
He flips backwards and looks around again, sighing and sheathing his sword in the process.
He was getting used to the quiet ambience of the place, but he was already getting tired of it, along with the dampness of the air.
It is then that he notices. He freezes. In front of him, his only (at least, it seemed) path was blocked by two spiders. But not the classic, little, tiny spiders we're used to. They were the size of Link. He even dared to think they were bigger than him.
For some time, he tries to find another way to get to the other side, and using vines hanging from the ceiling, he crosses to the other side of the chamber.
He starts to walk toward some stairs, and hears something moving behind him, but he's to late.
The yellow Deku Baba lunges at him and sinks its teeth into the flesh of Link's left hip.
He draws his sword to cut the monster's stem, making it fall to the floor, lifeless.
Link sheaths his sword with a painful breath. His tunic was gaining a deep red color. His hip was on fire. He puts a hand to staunch the bleeding. He was bleeding profusely, but luckily, the wound wasn't deep, or so it seemed.
He pushes his back against the wall and falls down slowly. This pain was a whole, new, different pain. Groose's punchs and kicks were almost nothing compared to teeth sinking into his skin. He wasn't prepared for it.
"Master Link." He opens his eyes, for he had closed them. His sandy blond hair was starting to glue to his forehead because of the sweat cascading down his face.
"Fi..." He grunts, hissing in pain. "Don't worry... I'm... fine..."
"It seems like it is otherwise, Master. A bite of that caliber may have punctured a vital organ. May I assess the damage, Master?"
Without losing another second, Link removes the belt at his waist and the one securing his sword and his shield to his back. He places them at his side and lifts up the tunic, the chainmail and the shirt.
Sure enough, there were three big puncture wounds on his hip. Not deep, but they stung like hell.
"Master... These are not deadly for now, but they will become a threat to your health if not cleaned, which may cause an infection."
"I know... Lemme just..." His hand retrieves his pouch and from within, the red potion. He uncorks it with his teeth, for the other hand was trying to staunch the bleeding as much as possible. He grimaces at the horrible taste, but ignores it. He hands the bottle to Fi. "Water... please... fill the bottle with water..."
Fi takes the bottle using a levitating ability, which was given to her should the hero require her direct assistance by lifting some light objects.
"Go..." Link sighs as he closes his eyes. He could feel the potion starting to take some of the pain away.
Fi does as told by her master and floats down and into the lower part of the chamber. Link had struck another switch in this room, which had made some water rise on the adjacent room and in the one they were located now.
She buries the bottle into the water and fills it as much as possible.
She returns and Link opens his eyes.
He retrieves the bottle and, as carefully as possible, takes off his green tunic, chainmail and shirt, tossing them aside. Fi observes as he pours some water over the wound. He hisses in pain at the feeling, and retrieves a piece of clean cloth from his pouch. Fledge had really been of help. Maybe he knew he was going to get hurt, and he is grateful for that. He's thank him later. He cleans the surrounding skin, getting rid of the blood and drying some of the water.
He drinks the rest of the water that Fi had brought. He sighs. He hadn't expect he would be so careless right at the start.
He stores the bottle into his pouch and takes off his hat, burying his fingers into his sweaty locks. He lies down carefully after putting on his shirt. He places his hand beneath the shirt, to prevent losing more blood. Lifting his head only made him dizzy as he lay down. He didn't lose too much blood, but it was very sudden and hadn't lost any in some time.
His could feel his abdominal muscles tensing up, and tried to relax. If he continued like that, the bleeding wouldn't stop.
"Master, may I ask if you feel better?"
Link looks at her, his eyes fluttering shut at irregular intervals. "Yeah... the painkiller is working... kinda. It still hurts."
Fi nods. "I suggest you rest for some time until the bleeding stops completely. Right now, there is a 97% probability of attacks from other monsters. You may rest. If anything happens, know that I will watch the surroundings and wake you if necessary."
"Thanks... Fi..." His eyes shut and soon, he falls into a peaceful sleep. The blood loss and all the effort he'd made the hole day had tired him.
He deserved the rest.
He wakes up hours later, instantly feeling soreness in his midsection.
His blue eyes, still filled with sleepiness, look around. He sees Fi looking at him.
"Master Link, I see you have awakened. How do you feel, if I may ask?"
"I... I'm better. Just sore." He clears his throat and tries to get up with some difficulty. "How much time have I been out?" He takes his chainmail and puts it on along the green tunic.
"You have been asleep for an estimated time of three hours and twelve minutes."
He nods and kneels down carefully to grab his things.
"So, it's almost nighttime outside I take it?" Fi nods as he straps his sword and his shield to his back. He was ready for more, despite the pain and numbness. "Well, let's get this place done with. I wanna heal these wounds as soon as possible and find Zelda."
They continue on through the whole night, exploring the temple. Only when daybreak arrives he is able to retrieve the key, which was in a room with a pair of those... eyes, if they should be called that. Using the key, he opens the door leads them to a great chamber filled with bats, bokoblins and mushrooms everywhere.
In the center, there was another room, and he felt there was something dangerous inside.
He explores the room, killing keese and bokoblins along the way, which only made his wounds hurt, despite trying to be as gentle as possible with his movements.
After exploring the whole chamber, he decides to return to the entrance where he came from, and activate a switch above the door of the circular room he'd seen upon his entrance.
The metal bars of the door lift up, and he goes inside. Upon entrance, though, the metal bars block the door and he turns.
A sound makes him whirl around in an instant.
On the center of the round room, a skeleton with armor was composing itself before his eyes. It had been lifeless and its bones had been scattered in a pile, but somehow, it was assembling itself, as if Link's entrance had woken it from a slumber, of sorts.
Link takes his sword and his shield and waits until the monster before him assembles completely so he could start looking for a weak spot.
It had big swords in its hands, and red glowing eyes that bore into him.
It was NOT going to be easy.
They move around in circles. Link watches as the fiend moves its swords, as if trying to spot the best opportunity to strike and if so, a strike as deadly as possible.
Link steps back and jumps onto the fiend when the swords were vertical and parallel to each other. The strike landed on the face of the beast, and the cranium would have broke in two if not for the helmet.
Link then swings his sword, taking his chance while the skeleton was taken aback by the sudden blow, and pieces of bones started flying everywhere.
The creature soon got back its composure and swung a sword toward him.
He backflips, the sword missing his hat by an inch. Link grunts, for the jump had made his wounds sting. He gulps and tries to focus again on his opponent. Now was a good time to start learning how to ignore pain. He never had an injury before that was not treated minutes after being inflicted, except for the Chuchu bite the day before starting his journey.
Link and the monster soon start a sword battle, stepping back and forth. Soon, Link manages to make one of the skeleton's swords fly to the other side of the room, making a heavy metallic sound when falling to the ground.
The monster shrieked and pushed him to the ground with the spare hand.
Link chokes a gasp when pushed down, but soon gets up, putting a distance between the monster and him. He could feel a warm and painful sensation. The push had made his slowly healing wounds start to bleed all over again.
"Damn..." He grunts.
Tired, Link charges at the monster while it was taking back the sword that flew away, and broke its vertebrae in two. The monster fell, and the cranium broke in pieces upon crashing against the floor.
Link sheathes his sword and puts a hand to his hip. He closed his eyes as a light in front of him blinded him.
When he opened them, he saw a chest at his feet.
He approaches it, while limping, and opens it. Inside it was... a bug.
He takes it and inspects it further. It was, in fact, a bug. Specifically, a beetle. It had a weird mechanism. He had a golden, metallic bracer, of sorts, and a button to trigger something.
He puts the bug on a certain spot of the bracer and presses the button under his hand.
The bug gets launched and he smiles. It was like a toy, but it was going to be helpful. He would be able to cut things with the sharp edge of the front of the mechanical insect.
He tilted his arm a bit to the right and the bug simulated his movements. It flies through a gap on the ceiling of the room, and he's somehow able to make it collide against the switch, taking out the metal bars of the door. The bug returns to him and he stuffs the newly acquired object into his pouch.
Soon, his injuries start to throb. The battle had reopened them. His muscles were sore and his eyelids were starting to grow heavy. Despite having slept for three hours not too long ago, it hadn't been enough. Three hours wasn't enough for him. He used to sleep, at least, almost nine hours. And loosing blood again, even in little quantities now, was taking a toll on him.
"Fi." The girl appears in front of him. "I'm going to take a little nap... Can you stay on watch while I'm out?" He starts taking of the belts and placing them near him, on the cold floor.
"Yes, Master. I will wake you up if necessary."
"Thanks. I'm just too tired and in pain. But even if nothing happens, wake me up in an hour. Can you do that?"
"Of course, Master."
He smiles while sitting down against the wall, and soon, he falls asleep.
