Another day, another amazing invention from Phineas and Ferb. Today it had been a giant four square volleyball court, obviously with some unique qualities. Such as a magnetic field that would make sure the ball wouldn't leave the bounds of the yard, and a bouncy ground to make spiking the ball even easier. Everyone had fun today, even Candace and Stacy joined in on the game. When we were done for the night, Ferb pressed a button on a remote he pulled from his pocket and the court folded up into a small enough box to store in the garage. A few years back we noticed that their inventions weren't disappearing at the end of the day anymore so Ferb found a way to implement an easy pack up feature into everything they built. He really is a genius.
There were only a few more days left of summer before we all left for our second year of college. Well, some of us will be leaving. Buford got a job right out of high school and is doing great for himself. Baljeet is doing college online as a way to move at a pace that suits his intellect and gives him a chance to work at the same time. That leaves me, Ferb, and Phineas to return to college together. We all go to Tri-State State University together and we still see each other everyday. Phineas and I had tried dating but I quickly realized that the school-girl crush I had harbored for so long had faded and would not be returning. He understood when I decided to break things off and he told me that he wasn't happy either. It was a mutual decision and I am so happy I got to keep him in my life as my best friend.
After packing up the court, we all sat out in the backyard for a while longer just laughing and joking around. Candace and Stacy were the first to leave, followed by Baljeet and Buford. Phineas and Ferb were leaning against their signature tree and I sat across from them. There were no clouds in the sky tonight and the moon was shining brightly down on all of us. I couldn't help but continue to look at Ferb, the moonlight making his green hair shine and features look even sharper. I looked over at Phineas and I could tell he caught me staring at Ferb. He had a giddy grin on his face and wiggled his eyebrows at me. I could feel my face flush as I looked down at my hands.
"Well I think I am gonna head inside, start to get ready for bed. We have a big day ahead of us tomorrow. Ferb, why don't you walk Izzy home? It's pretty dark out and we wouldn't want anything to happen to her," Phineas says as he stands and makes his way to the door.
"Wait, Phin I'll be-" I start to say before Ferb interrupts me.
"Don't worry about it Bella, I'd be happy to walk you home." He stands from his spot and holds out a hand for me to help me up. I look up at him and his eyes almost sparkle in the moonlight. God, I sound like a romance writer. I grab his hand and he helps me up. Once he lets go of my hand he offers his elbow to me and says "Shall we?"
I giggle and rest my hand in the crook of his elbow, "We shall, good sir." As we are walking out of the yard I swear I see Phin practically jump with joy at his plan working, I never should've told him about my feelings for Ferb. I should've known he would meddle, that's all Phineas does.
The walk across the street is filled with comfortable silence. I look over at Ferb, only to see him already looking my way. I catch his eye and I feel myself flush, but I can't look away. We reach my front door and for a moment neither of us say anything for a moment. Right as I was about to thank him, he surprises me by saying something I least expected.
"You look beautiful in the moonlight, Isabella." My eyes widen and I can feel my blush deepening. I avert my eyes for a moment, before looking at him through my lashes. "Not just in the moonlight, all the time. You always seem so insecure about your looks but Bella you are easily the most beautiful woman I've ever met."
"Ferb, that's so sweet. Thank you," I say, giving him a small smile. "You look very handsome as well. Any girl would be lucky to have you as their own."
Ferb takes a step closer to me, leaving not even a foot of space between us. My breath catches in my throat as I look up at him, he has a look in his eyes that I haven't seen there before. "Are you any girl, Isabella?" he asks me in a low voice.
I'm taken aback by the question, never expecting him to see me in such a light. I take a shuddering breath before closing some of the distance between us and whispering, "no, but I hope I can be your girl."
He smirks and leans down to capture my lips in a passionate kiss. I wrap my arms around his shoulders as his hands grasp my waist in a firm grip. We kiss as if we will not get another chance again. He pulls me closer to him as our lips part and we breathe each other in. I open my eyes and look up at him and suddenly I recognize the look in his eyes. It was the same look that is probably mirrored in my own right now; it was pure desire. I wanted nothing more than to invite him to my room and rip his clothes off, unfortunately I didn't want to run the risk of waking my mom.
I think Ferb came to a similar conclusion because he closes his eyes, takes a deep breath, and steps back. He looks at me again, and while the desire is still there, I can see tenderness there as well.
"I want to take you on a date tomorrow, around 6pm? Would that work for you?" He asks me.
"That sounds lovely Ferb, what are we going to do?" I respond with a huge smile on my face.
"That, my dear Bella, is a surprise. Just know that you will love every second of it." He grabs my hand, and bends down to kiss the back of it. He looks up at me from this position and winks at me with a crooked smile on his face, and I swear my heart skips a beat. "I will see you tomorrow morning for our day of inventing, followed by the best date you've ever been on."
Ferb turns around and walks back towards his house. I walk into my house and I can't wipe the smile off my face. Once I get up to my room I check my phone and see a message from Phineas. All it says is: You're welcome ;)
