Nothing made sense the entire night.
Absolutely nothing.
It didn't make sense that his hand fit in her own. It didn't make sense when she leaned on his shoulder, smiling as she noticed him relax when the music washjed over the balcony.
It definitely didn't make sense when he spontaneously pretended to stretch, only to wrap his arm around her shoulders and pull her closer to him!
It made him smile, sure.
It was pleasant, yes.
It was one of the best nights he could ever ask for, most definitely.
But once again, fate was cruel and callous.
He still didn't get his wish, and went to his mansion...empty and disappointed.
Not with Raimu...never with Raimu.
"What am I doing wrong?" he asked his reflection as he changed back into his regular attire.
"Or perhaps the question is...what wrong was done to me?"
He had known warmth before. He had even confided in his Proxy the one time he had actually been 'in love' with someone.
Whatever that actually meant.
Whe Neku had asked, he didn't know what had possessed him to remember...her or tell his proxy the tale. He remembered every detail...
Except how she'd made him feel. Something was missing in that memory that shouldn't have been, a gaping emptiness had replaced it.
He felt that same emptiness now, with Raimu. No matter how much he wanted it, the empty confusion refused to fill and make sense!
He had thought that Death was losing control over everything, even his own body. But he was quickly redefining that concept.
Being close to Raimu, but being empty...not being able to grasp the true...more than caring...
That was death.
He was dying.
And the funny thing was...he didn't mind one single bit. He would stay in this perpetual death for as long as it took.
Because he wanted more.
"Raimu, you're killing me!" He giggled as he flopped, spread eagle, on his bed, a giant grin on his face.
"And I am dying happily!"

"So Rhyme!" Mina said scandalously, "Give us the gory details!"
Mana nodded, "Yeah, Rhyme! We both saw you with him in his private box at the Concerto last night. He totally put some moves on you!"
Rhyme blushed,
"N...nothing happened! I mean, nothing interesting...we just...enjoyed ourselves, really."
"She spends an evening with the richest, hottest guy in Japan and calls it nothing!" Mina giggled
"So naïve. And I'm soooo jealous!"
"Did he kiss you?" Mina asked.
Rhyme's blush became even redder "Wha-what?! N...no!"
"Then he's still available!" Both twins said in unison.
"Oh my gawd, there he is!" Mina gushed, "I'm going to go score myself a date!"
"Not if I get to him first!" Mana challenged.
"Uh, uh sister! This Kiryu...is mine!"
Rhyme couldn't help but chuckle as the Sarahara girls went to try to woo the Composer. She was not a jealous soul, and didn't mind when he turned to them and gave a hair flip, and they swooned when he flashed them a smirk and a wink. The young Bito knew exactly where she stood with Joshua.
"You know, Rhyme" Trixie said as she joined her friend watching the twins fall to the floor once again as their prey bat his eyes at them. "Some people think that Yoshiya and The Prince are related!"
"How? He's an only child."
"That you know! Everyone knows that Daichi Kiryu was a shameless playboy, Rhyme. The guy got some wherever and whenever he could."
"Trixie!" the young Bito protested, though a part of her wondered if this information was due to Joshua harboring some ill-feelings towards his father that made it into the imprinting, or wether it was true originally.
"I'm just saying it's more than possible!"
"Yeah but...he's standing right there."
"Oh please, he's a bit occupied with the bimbo twins to notice us. Besides, why would he care? It's a well-known fact his father tried to drown him in the fountain in Udagawa when he was five!"
"Why would he do that to his sole heir?!" Rhyme asked incredulously, What is up with Josh, Udagawa, and death?
"He was drunk. Some people say Yoshiya only wore long sleeved shirts and pants whenever Daichi came home from long business trips because it hid the evidence of his father's drunken lashings."
Now Rhyme was really curious. Joshua favored short sleeves, but she had never seen him in shorts. Not that it mattered, since he could change his appearance on a whim, but she wondered if he'd used the ability...to hide past scars.
"Some sources also say he was the one who murdered his parents when they came out of the conference hall." Sakura said creepily from behind Rhyme, "Just so he could take over the company. You see, little Bito, it's a cutthroat world we of the higher class live in. Your sappy, sweet little spirit would never survive it. So leave Yoshiya to us, ok?"
"Excuuuuse me, miss Diva but..." Trixie flipped her hair, "Who did he take to the Cncerto last night? Oh yeah...not you!"
Sakura sniffed indignantly
"Well, so what? My father invited him to our mansion for dinner tonight. Guess who said, and I quote, 'Only because you'll be in attendance, ma cheri' He spoke French! Do you know what it means when a guy speaks French to a girl?!"
"That he's well-educated and possibly bilingual?" Rhyme guessed.
"It means he's totally into me! French is the language of love!"
Trixie scowled, but Rhyme giggled softly.
The Composer was having way too much fun.
Joshua...you sure know how to play em!
