Part 1:

'There's always so much running,' I thought to myself.

I could feel the sweat slide down my face as I dashed down the street in attempt to make it. "5 minutes, *pant* 5 minutes left, I can make it," I told myself as I continued to run.

The day was really like any other. The sky was a bright blue. It was clear as you could imagine, not a cloud could be seen. The street was quiet as I ran I didn't hear a peep out of any of the houses I passed, everyone probably out for work or inside doing housework. It was always just the road and I. There was never anyone or anything else. Just the clear road, but it seems like this time would be different.

My breathing kept getting heavier and heavier as I kept running. I was coming up to the curve, and went to turn. The next thing I knew I was on the ground and my briefcase was open in front of me with the papers I finished grading last night spread out all across the empty street. "Ow," I groaned as I placed my hand on my chest.

Ahead of me I saw a boy rushing around the street trying to pick up all the papers that fell out of the case. He couldn't have been more than 15 or 16 based on how tall he was, he had a mop top haircut, and was in a all black school uniform. My eyes were still a little blurry, couldn't exactly make out the kid's face.

I dusted myself off and stood up. Held my eyes for a second as they then adjusted themselves. "Sorry about your papers, mister," he said to me as I walked up towards him from behind.

I smiled, "Oh its fine, we both seemed to be in a rush," I told him.

He turned towards me, papers in hand, and extended his arms. "Here you go!" He said with a smile.

'Nice kid' I thought to myself. "Thank you," I told him as I gave a slight bow before taking the papers.

I began to put the different papers back in my briefcase, "You're running pretty late, aren't you?" The kid asked me.

I chuckled, "Yeah I know, I stayed up late grading papers, why are you so late?" I asked turning to him.

He didn't respond for a moment, looking at the ground before mumbling out, "...Over slept,"

I let out a laugh, "Happens to all of us, well you should get going thanks for your help," I told him.

I walked towards him to tap him on the shoulder. When my hand made contact with the boy I collapsed on the ground. "ARGHHH!" I began to shout on the ground as I reeled in pain.

"Mister are you okay!" The boy shouted at me.

I could feel...some kind of presence. I couldn't tell what it was. God it was hard to think, my head was felt like it was split open. I felt my breathing get deeper, my chest felt heavy. The pain, it was like a heartbeat. It made a beating sound in my mind. It started like an explosion next to you. I couldn't hear or notice anything else around but the pain. The pain lessened over time, the explosions became like gunfire, the gunfire like yelling, and the yelling eventually devolved into a whisper before disappearing all together. I managed to stagger up after continuing to lay there for awhile, once I finally got up I let out a sigh of relief.

I turned to the boy who stood beside me for the whole expierence. "Mister what just happened? Are you okay? Do you need any help or anything?" He said.

"No *pant* I'll be fine," I said taking a breath before continuing, "Kid what's your name?"

"Toru, Miyama Toru, Now mister are you okay?" He continued to ask me.

"I'll be fine Toru, go to class," 'I'm going to have to figure out what about this kid hurt me after school today,' I thought to myself.

"Um, are you sure?" He said.

"I'm sure Toru, I'll be fine," I said with a smile.

"...Alright mister," Toru said as he began to walk down the road.

'What could it be about that boy?' I asked myself as I picked up my briefcase and began walking towards the middle school.
