Part 3:

I come to this island every year. This makes the sixth time that I've come back here. This empty island, the only noise you can hear is the breeze of the wind and the splashing of the water, no one lives here anymore. That's my fault. This is the first failure I experienced on this planet, wouldn't be the last. I kneel in front of a gravestone I've made for the island, and place flowers in front of it. As I kneel what I think to myself is the same, every year, 'I'm sorry for failing you,'

Everyone that lived on this island died. I tried to stop it. It didn't work out the way I hoped. A lot of things on this planet didn't work out the way I hoped. I've lived here for almost ten years now. Six years ago, I fought the Giras brothers, my first battle on Earth, and I beat them eventually. However, to those from this island that didn't mean anything. They all died before. So many people died during my battles on this planet. Takashi, MAC, Karou, Momoko, even Seven seemed to have died. I'm not sure if Seven did or not, I hope he's out there somewhere.

At least Toru made through it all. I wonder how Toru is doing nowadays. I hope he got used to the Miayamas. How old would he be now? 15? 16? Every time I come to this island I end up thinking about him a lot. He lost everything, his mother, his father, his sister, and his adoptive mother. Maybe that's why we became so close? I ask myself if I made the right choice leaving him with the Miayamas when I'm here. He needed to know that I couldn't also be there, but still was it the right decision? Too late to ask now I guess. That kid went through a lot for a boy that age.

I look around the empty field around me, seeing the bright colors of the nature that surrounds me. The sky above, the grass around me, and the ocean that encompasses the island. I've finally managed to see this planet that I've seen so much devastation on. What to do now? Toru is the only one I'm really close to left. Do I try to look for Astra out in space? Maybe try and go to the land of light? The other Ultras might have something for me to do. I heard a broadcast the other day that there was a new one here on Earth. The monsters have finally come back, I'm sure he can handle them. Its not like he needs me to be here. What do I do? There's so little left.

Suddenly, I felt the earth beneath me shake. A loud roar from the main island nearby. I rushed over through the field, when it came into view. It felt like a bad dream. Black Directive and SilverBloome, alive again. I saw both of them die! I killed SilverBloome myself! Here they were alive again, and unlike before this time they were both giants. I saw Black Directive cackle and command his saucer creature, "DESTROY THIS MISERABLE PLANET!"

His command sounded like a giant boom in my ears. The same went for the horrid screams from SilverBloome as it stretched out its tendrils, grasping different beams at a construction area. It looked as if the entire place was going to collapse. I could hear the ground crumbling beneath Black's feet. The screams of the populace ever present in the background. I didn't see the new guy anywhere near by. It was going to be the first time in five years that I transformed into my true form. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. I stretched my hands above me in a V shape, I was really doing it again. When I opened my eyes about to shout my name I had another shock. They were gone. SilverBloome and Black both seemingly disappeared.

"What in the world?" I remarked as I squinted my eyes trying to look closer at the area.

It looked like the slight damage the two caused were still there. I needed to know for sure. I walked to the coast of the island, stepping back in the small sail boat I had taken all those years ago. I sailed to the mainland Japan, leaving my boat there by the coast. I had to slide my way past a swarm of people. The entire time I could hear mumbling from the group. They seemed to be utterly terrified. Anxious old men and women asking others, "Do you think those devils will come back again?"

I saw mothers grab their children as tight as they could as they tried to get out of the mass of people as soon as they could. Most of the young men were just frozen in shock, just staring at the remnants of the two monsters, not making a sound, and their mouth gaping. At least that confirmed for me that they were really there.

I reached the end of the mob finally getting close to the construction site. However, there stood the police. They set up a caution line in front of all of us, telling us that no one would be allowed entry. They told us all to disperse. There wasn't anything I could tell them that would let them see. I don't even know if the public thinks anyone survived the original SilverBloome attack. I saw some people edge close to the caution line and the police would step ahead of them pushing them back into the mob.

I didn't have any other clues to really go upon, so I did as the police asked and left the mob. I walked back to my boat, and sat there. Hopefully they would end coming back at some point. As I sat there in the boat gazing out at the construction site I began to think about their appearance more and more. Why at this random construction site? Could be random slaughter, but is it something more? I looked at the other buildings and the roads nearby this construction sight from my boat and eventually I realized something. This was the same construction site SilverBloome died in. What this part of some elaborate revenge plot? Where else are they going to show up? The island? In the sky where MAC used to be? Maybe even the Miayamas' house?

I stayed in the boat for a few hours and then I saw a black car approach the site. It had orange, blue, and silver lining on it. The letters UGM were written in a large font on top the front of the car. "The new attack team," I mumbled to myself.

Out of the car stepped a man dressed in a light orange and silver uniform. A smirk filled my face for a moment upon seeing him, reminds me of younger years I suppose. He talked to one of the cops that kept the people back. In the midst of the conversation the policeman pointed at me. I will admit I do look suspicious staying in my little boat like this for so long. However, when the UGM man he was talking to looked over at me I realized who he was. As our eyes met, my own alien eyes allowed me to see through his disguise. This was the new warrior sent by the land of light, Ultraman 80. I figured that he must have saw through my human vestige as well, so I got out of my boat and walked towards him.

He did the same, when we were face to face he started to talk. "Y-you're Leo?!" I suppose he was astonished to see another Ultra Brother on Earth.

I nodded, "Here I'm Ootori Gen," I said as I extended my hand.

He grabbed my hand, "Yamato Takeshi," He told me as we had a handshake.

He had a big smile across his face when we met. When we finally shook hands his pace was a lot faster than mine; nice to meet someone so green.

"Nice to meet you 80,"

He turned back towards the construction area behind us asking, "What are you thinking happened here? Was there really a giant man that appeared?"

"I saw it, but there he's not a man,"

80 turned back to me, his brow tightened, "What was it then?"

"One of the most dangerous aliens I fought on this planet, Black Directive,"

"Didn't he die though?"

I nodded, "So was the monster he had with him SilverBloome and Directive both died, but somehow they seemed to have come back,"

80 covered his lower face with his hand as the looked over the construction site, his eyes squinted as he did. "Have any thoughts?" I asked.

"Not sure, do you want to go back to UGM with me to try and figure out," He said as he turned back to me.

I nodded, and then we walked into his black car, driving off.

As we walked into the large chrome colored room the members of 80's team looked at us, particularly me with confusion. "Yamato, who did you bring in here!" One of the men yelled at us.

"This is Ootori Gen, former MAC! I thought he could help with the energy!" 80 shouted back.

The older man sitting at the end seat at the table in the middle looked at me with his head slightly tilted. He's probably the captain. "Former MAC?" the older man questioned.

"Yes I am sir," I said with a bow.

"MAC Japan?" The man retorted.

"Yes, the sole survivor,"

The older man's eyes widened in response as he slowly nodded. He looked me up and down before asking, "Why is it that you can help us with this exactly?"

"Well sir, some older aliens have appeared, one being SilverBloome,"

He leaned in towards us, "SilverBloome? I see why would you want to help, so what were the others?"

"Black Directive, the controller of SilverBloome they appeared at a construction site in Tokyo,"

"That would make sense,"

I didn't understand that. Why would that make any sense. "Um-" I began to ask before 80 cut me off.

"Well you see," He began, his finger pointed up in the sky, "The Kaiju that UGM has been fighting, have all been born of Minus energy,"

"What, exactly is that?" I asked.

"Minus energy is this force in the universe that feeds off of various negative emotions of sapient life, like ourselves, and that energy can combine to form a sentient being most of these cases being Kaiju of various forms," He explained as he walked around me.

He did various hand motions to help hammer in the concept, his hands forming a ball that got smaller and smaller as he talked about the energy coming together, and then moving his hands a way as if it were an explosion to represent the monster being formed. His voice had an energy to it, a very excited and almost cherry tone describing this monster creation. The new guy seemed to have a lot of real optimism about him. I hope he keep that up throughout all of his time on this planet. Although I have to admit, it makes you feel like a kid in a classroom hearing him explain something like this.

"So Mr. Ootori, our hunch is that this minus energy is coming off of someone to form the recreations of SilverBloome and Black Directive! We have further evidence of this as in a section of Tokyo this morning that were was a high burst of minus energy as well, coinciding with the appearance," The captain told me.

I simply nodded in response, this scientific speak was never the easiest stuff for me to deal with. I looked aside me at 80, and he was looking deeply into nothing with his hand on his chin. "What is it Yamato?" I asked.

"Well," he said as he turned, "These Kaiju have never taken the form of previously existing Kaiju before now, so its interesting that they would now, if our hypothesis is correct,"

He stopped talking for a moment and just kept pacing, his expression not really changing. He just stayed looking out with a ruffled brow. He seemed to start thinking aloud, "It would have to be someone with an extremely deep negative experience with these creatures that is so strong that the minus energy uses that as a template,"

As I was watching him walk around I began to notice something, the members of UGM. They all stopped looking at him, and started staring at me. 80 didn't notice it till he stopped walking and looked around him, and finally following their gaze to me.

I can't say that I blame them. It makes sense, last survivor of an attack by them. "Would there be any way to measure if it was me?" I asked to the group.

"In a way, Yamato," The captain said, nodding towards 80.

He nodded back in response and walked through the doors behind me. When he walked back into the room he had this small box-shaped device in his hand. It was a bright chrome color, a white bar on the face of it with some kind of line, an antenna, and a black button on the side of the device. "This is a device that we've created to try and measure minus energy within a person," 80 explained.

He pressed the button on the side of the device as he aimed it at me. The antenna started to circle and the line on the bar seemed to move slightly. 80's expression as he looked at the device was very stern for the majority of the process, but towards the end the sternness faded and a sigh left his mouth. "Seems, like you don't have enough to create a Kaiju, bit more minus energy than your average person, but there's no way its you," He said looking at me with a smile.

The captain stopped for a moment, before asking me, "Mr. Ootori, is there anyone that you could think of that has such a deep disdain for these particular creatures that it would make them appear like this,"

It hit me. I know the one person that it could be. Oh I hope he's okay. "Yes sir, Umeda Toru,"

80 mumbled something to himself, I couldn't make out all of it but he seemed to say Toru at some point. "What is it Yamato?" The captain asked him seeing his reaction.

He was broken from his thought, looking up at the captain and beginning to answer, "Well sir, this morning I ran into a kid named Miayama Toru on the way to school when you said the minus energy was high," He admitted.

"That's Toru," I snapped back, "After his family died in the wave of monster attacks five years ago he moved into an adoptive family, the Miayamas,"

"Do you know the way to the house Mr. Ootori?" The captain asked.

"Yes sir," I nodded in response.

"Yamato, take Ootori and go to this boys house,"

80 bowed and then the two of us walked back through the door we came through. Walking down the hallway 80 commented, "How sure are you that its this kid? I saw him this morning, he seemed nice enough,"

'I'm glad he's doing alright at least,' I thought. "Its not exactly the first time something like this has happened,"

80 was silent for a moment, "W-what do you mean?"

"Not important right now," I said as we walked down the hall.

Riding towards that house in the UGM car was so weird to expierence. I didn't know what exactly I was going to say to Toru. I really hope that it isn't him that's causing this. Its been five years since I've slept in this house. 5 years since I've seen him. 5 years since the kid lost everything. We parked in the driveway of the house, and 80 opened his door and stood out. Still sitting in the car, I took a deep breath in and out. I finally managed to step out of the car, and then I saw a little head peering out of the front window. It was him. I heard a giant shout come out of his mouth as he realized it was me, "OOTORI!"
