You Have What…

They all heard the shoes click with purpose, as Professor Granger stormed into the great hall for breakfast.
'Professor Snape I would like to have a word with you.' he quickly tried to leave the head table. Hermione's hand waved, Severus's was glued to the chair.
'Ms. Granger, Please tell me why you are yelling across the hall?' Headmistress McGonagall spoke with authority.
'Well you see Headmistress, for the last month I have sent numerous notes with students and with owls for an appointment with the Professor only to have them ignored. I have tried to go visit him during office hours to find a locked door. I have a grievance and I was trying to handle it professionally between us before bringing it to your attention. But as he is being a coward I must do this here.' Minerva looked over at Severus.
'Well then let's clear the hall or take this to my office?'
'I'm sorry Headmistress this involves the students. So I would prefer that they stay as some of them are personally involved with the problem.'
'What have you done, Severus?' Minerva spoke in a low voice.
'Professor Snape why have you decided to unfairly pick on students not in your house? You unfairly take points and give your little snakes points for let's say handing you a piece paper?'
'Ms. Granger, are you sure?'
'First of all have firsthand experience of this while I was in his class oh so many years ago. But I have a stack of complaints from students, headmistress.' as a stack of papers appeared in front of her. 'He took points away for a misspelled the word Taraxacum the poor firsty put an e where the a should have been. For merlins sake a first year, you correct it and move on not take points. You give outrageous punishments to students for minor infringements, scrubbing cauldrons, floors and walls without magic and yet when your precious snakes get in trouble you laugh it off and let them do their class work.'
'Ms. Granger that is a bold accusation." Minerva proclaimed.
'How many of the students here have had detention of scrubbing without magic?' as a bunch of hands went up. 'How many have you heard the Slytherins boast of their lenient punishments?' more hands went up. 'I'm tired of hearing about the unfairness, the war is over Severus. We are all supposed to get along. Treat all of the students fairly, help them to be better students and not tear them down. If they do wrong then make them all, even your little snakes gut the horned frogs, dice the Taraxacum root that you will need for the fourth year potions, but scrubbing just to be doing something is uncalled for and you know it.' she waved her hand to unstick Severus and she proceeded up to her seat at the head table, receiving a loud applause from all.
'Why did you have to do that in front of the whole school?' as he pulled Hermione behind the statue of the one eyed witch.
'Well, I did try and come find you many times only to be ignored.'
'Well you couldn't you have stopped me in the hall before breakfast?' he snarled.
'I haven't seen you in weeks, you have been avoiding me like dragon pox. So I stopped you at the first opportunity. What is your problem?'
'You!'
'Me? How am I your problem?'
'Oh never mind.' as he tried to turn to leave.
'Oh no you don't get to leave, you spill it now or I will hex you into next week for the fun of it.'
'Fine.' as he pushed her up against the wall and kissed her. She pushed him back and slapped him hard across the face.
'What in merlins? Start explaining, now.'
'Well, ever since you talk to the wizengamot at my trial… I have … well in all truths I have… since sixth year but knew nothing would ever come of it. Then you show up here looking all…' as he groaned.
'You have what?' she sputtered.
'I have had a crush on you, I have thought about… us… but I always know it wouldn't, couldn't happen.' as he looked down to his feet.
'What? That is why you have been avoiding me? You,' pausing for a moment, 'Like me?'
'Yes. But I was trying to keep my distance, knowing it would never come to fruition.'
'Why not?'
'What, why not?' as he looked up at her.
'Why not at least talk to me about it?'
'Well our age difference and our past is too… troubled to fix.'
'Well age is just a number, and as to our past… I wouldn't have spoken up for you if I had not forgiven you, now would I?' as she put her hand on his arm. 'If truth be told I have had a crush on you too.'
'You what?' he sputtered.
'I see it now, in the 8th year, you weren't being the normal snarky git, you had the student/teacher clause to hide behind. I saw the slightly softer side show once and awhile, you only wanted me to do my best so I would move on and leave you to wallow in your misery' he nodded. 'But then I go and take the charms job and you are now back in hell?' she looked up at him, he nodded again. 'Silly man if you had just told me all of this at the beginning of the year this would never had happened.'
'What about Ron?'
'Well that tanked last year. I need someone mentally capable of holding an intelligent conversation and not want me to stay home popping babies out.'
'Oh, I didn't know.'
'Really, how did you miss it? You read the Daily Prophet every morning. We made front page when Ron was found shagging Lavender in a bar bathroom. And here I thought you were an up to date, educated wizard.' she giggled at the look of indignation.
'Well I didn't want to believe that Rita Skeeter got something right and Ron would do that to you.'
'Well she did for once and yes he cheated on me, but back to us, I would like to at least try.'
'What do we tell them?' waving his hand at the invisible crowd behind him.
'Well I could say that I have given the snarky git of the dungeon a through reprimand and detention. And will now be on his best behavior or risk losing something very special to him.' as she pulled him in for a kiss.
'Detention?'
'Yea. I have some ideas…'
