'Miss. Granger, may I tell you? You look absolutely gorgeous tonight?' Lucius spoke.

'Thank you and I will have to say that you look very handsome.' Hermione blushed as she spoke.

'A drink?' as he offered her a glass.

'No thank you,' holding up a glass of sparkling apple cider. 'I prefer to keep my whit's about me.' with a small chuckle, as a group of men started to cheer.

'But it might help with the look of melancholy on your face?'

'Well it might help for a minute but I would still have the problem when the effects wear off. So why not deal with it now and then get on with it?'

'I see your point.' as he put his drink down.

'Oh, I didn't mean you needed to stop drinking. I just want to get over this…' as she pointed in the direction of Ron. 'He will drink himself into a …. And then come over to bother me, begging for us to date again.' she finished with a huff.

'Well I could stay here and as they say cock block him?'

'What?' as she sputtered.

'Oh did I get that wrong?'

'Oh no you got that one right.' as she smiled. 'Oh I wouldn't subject you to his…'

'Immaturity? He would do best if he grew up and shit or get off the pot.' Lucius drew himself up as he spoke. 'You are too … to have to deal with his stupidity.'

'Wow you are on a role tonight two muggle sayings in a row. Those muggle classes are doing you some good.' as she smiled up at him. 'And thank you for cheering me up, I needed that.'

'Ms. Granger, as you are the brightest witch of our time I was wondering if you could give me some advice?' she nodded. ' I have found a witch, in which I have grown quite fond of and not sure how to proceed as my marriage to Narcissa was arranged and I did not need to court her.' he spoke of the past.

'Well, does she know you like her at all?' he shook his head.

'I'm not sure how her family would react to me asking her out, being who I am or was.'

'Hum, maybe offer her a drink and find out what she has planned for her life to see if it is a path you would follow or just ask her to dance and get a feel for the mood, if she is cold or warm to the idea, as to her family well if she likes you and you make her happy her family should support her decision.'

'And if they don't?' Lucius spoke with apprehension.

'Well then she will have to decide where her future lies, with her family or with her future. Are you willing to support her dreams? Let her get an education if she wants? Help cook and clean? Not demand her have a team of quidditch players?'

'Oh, my is that what Ron is asking of you?' Lucius looked appalled at the weasel's demands of Hermione.

'He would prefer me bare foot and pregnant, cooking and cleaning while he is out playing quidditch?'

'And cheat?' Lucius clenched his fist as he spoke.

'Oh you know about that?'

'You three did go to school with Draco and I heard some of the stories.' as his hand found her arm. 'You do not deserve that. Well let me try to cheer you up just a bit, will you dance with me?' offering his hand. Hermione nodded and followed him out to the dance floor. They waltzed around the floor, as the other couples cleared a space for them. Lucius did direct them of near to where Ron and his friends congregated. He smiled at Ron's sneer as he swirled Hermione.

'Ms. Granger you dance wonderfully.'

'First of all call me Hermione please and what were you in fear of losing toes?' Hermione giggled at the look on his face.

'Well I was pleasantly surprised and it's Lucius. Where did you learn to dance?'

'Remember the yule ball? Well they gave us lessons and when Victor asked me to go, I took extra lessons so I wouldn't embarrass him.' Hermione blushed again.

'Well then I need to thank your teacher as they did a wonderful job. You would never now you are muggle born.'

'Lucius! Muggles can dance the waltz as well.' she said gruffly but with a smile. 'I need to arrange for you to go to the other side.' as she smiled.

'Well are you up to another dance? It looks like Ron might be heading over here.' as he pulled Hermione into his arms for a slow song. 'So what are you studying right now?'

'I'm almost done with my healers license and then I'm trying to decide what specialty to go into.'

'Well, I know you will do well in any field you decide on.' as they continued to dance across the floor. Lucius getting glares for Ron as they turned. 'Are you ready for another sparkling cider?' as he offered his hand when the song ended.

'Oh too tired to dance with me but two dances with him. You are my girlfriend, Hermione.' Ron snarled.

'Ronald Weasley this is not the place to do this again.' Hermione fumed.

'No, here and now. We are going home.' Ron bellowed as his family crowded around him.

'Mr. Weasley I think you need to step back and cool off. Hermione is right this is not the place for this.' Lucius tried to diffuse the situation.

'Don't tell me what to do you… death eater.'

'Ronald… shut your mouth. Lucius has changed, he has spent the evening entertaining me while you get shite faced with your team mates. I'm not your girlfriend and have never have been. Every time I turn you down you go find Lavender and when you two have a row you run to Millicent. Yes Ron I know about both of them.' Ron stood there mouth gaping.

'Well this is might not be the best time for this but I would be a fool not to at least try…' Hermione looked up to him confused. 'Hermione Granger would you date me? I will help you get your certificate in any healing field you want, I will hire the best mentors for you to learn to be the best in your field. I will learn to cook if you will teach me? I will help you clean our house. And you can choose to or not to birth my children and one or a whole quidditch team and I will help with feeding and changing diapers while you work if you want to. But please consider my offer?' Hermione couldn't speak at his declaration, all she could do was nodded, he picked her up and spun her around.

'You stole her?' Ron bellowed.

'Ron you can't steal something that didn't belong to you in the first place.' Ginny snarled. 'Lucius you promise to take good care of her?' Ginny stood toe to toe with him.

'Yes, on my oath I promise to take excellent care of one Hermione Granger.' Lucius announced to the crowd of Weasleys around them. Everyone cheered and Ron stomped off.

'Well if he promised I guess I'm ok with it.' Ginny announced as everyone broke out laughing.

'Well then, I am pleased to announce poker night at the manor on Tuesday nights and if Molly and Arthur agree I can host the Sunday brunches with a quidditch game to follow?'

'But I always cook.' Molly gruffed.

'Well then give me a list and I will make sure the house elves have everything you need and you cook at the manor?' he could see Molly thinking about the offer and then getting a nod from Molly and Arthur.

'If you have truly promise to take care of our Hermione we will be at the manor next Sunday.' Arthur said with a nod from Molly.

'Are you crazy?' Hermione screeched.

'Um, yes for a very pretty witch. I was told to win the heart of the witch you need the approval of the family and I see this as the best and fastest way.'

'But Lucius…' as Hermione shook her head.

'Well as the mansion has not had visitors in ages I think I will need your help decorating. Would you mind?'

~o~

'Wow this is so…' Hermione spoke as she looked around the dining room.

'Well that is why I need your help, this is too … pretentious. I think we need to … make it more casual.' Lucius smiled.

'Well at the Weasleys' we have a long wood table so can we transfigure this one?'

'Yes, transfigure away.' as they set to work, the dining room, living room received some nice comfy sofas, the drawing room had a scattering of card tables and chairs place around the room and the garden was decked out with loungers and chairs.

'Wow this looks wonderful.' Lucius beamed as he looked around. 'You know I like this look so much better. Thank you.' as he pulled Hermione over for a kiss.

~o~

'That was a wonderful breakfast Molly. Would you please teach Cookie the recipe for the fruit tart? It was refreshing.' Lucius asked.

'Yes I can.' Molly blushed at the compliment.

'Please leave the mess for the house elves, they were over joyed to have something to do as it is just us here. Everybody please follow me and I will show you the pitch.' as he rose from his seat and walked them out.

'Wow, this is nice. We should have befriended Draco years ago.' George yelled as he jumped on his broom and kicked off.

'Well it looks like you will be short players for a full team, so do you want to go invite some more to play?' Lucius asked the crowd.

'Are you sure?' Harry asked, Lucius nodded. 'I can ask Verity, Dean, Oliver and...'

'Can we invite Katie and Angelina and Alicia?' George asked as he landed.

'Yes, invite them all for a game.' Lucius smiled.

'Well if you are ok with it I can invite Theo, Marcus and Pansy.' Draco asked.

'Pansy plays?' Harry asked.

'No but she will have fun heckling us.' Draco grinned. 'I'll get the paper and the owls ready.' within an hour they had more than enough to play.
