Two months later, Perry had to call Burger to tell him that Della was in active labor. Burger said he'd file for a postponement, which he did. The judge granted it, and court was adjourned until further notice. When Della was in labor with Maureen, it took minutes from the time her water broke until the baby arrived. This time was different. Della's water broke at seven that morning, and now, at three in the afternoon, there was no sign of the baby arriving anytime soon. "I know this is supposed to take a while, but after last time I was hoping this one would be quick too," Della said.

"Maureen was in a hurry to get here. Vivian clearly isn't."

"Vivian?"

"Isn't that the name we decided on?"

"How do you know the baby's a girl?"

"Everything about this pregnancy is the same as the last one. Except for the amount of time you're in labor."

Finally, a little after three in the morning, the newest Mason made their entrance. "Congratulations! You have another little girl," the doctor said.

"Told you so," Perry smiled and cut the umbilical cord. Fathers weren't typically allowed in the delivery room. Since he had been present for Maureen's birth, he wasn't going to miss this one. The baby was cleaned up and examined before being handed to her mother. Perry kissed his wife's temple, "I'm so proud of you."

"She's beautiful," Della said.

"Of course, she is," Perry said, "she's your daughter."

"Vivian Diana Mason," Della said, "you sure did keep us waiting."

"I'm sure the next one will too."

Della looked at her husband with a raised eyebrow, "next one?"

"Della, let's be honest. Neither one of us can keep our hands off the other. You got pregnant the first time we had sex after Maureen was born. I'm sure it will happen again."

"I may make you wait longer."

"I'll wait for you as long as I have to."

Once again, Della took twelve weeks off. It was a bit difficult adjusting to having two little ones at home, but they managed. Maureen was curious about the baby but mainly played with her toys. She said when her sister learned to play, that she'd play with her. Nicky loved having another baby sister. Perry's family came out to meet Vivian, but he asked that they didn't stay too long. He didn't want to overwhelm Della. It was decided that for the time being, Della would take Vivian to the office while she nursed her. On days they had court, Della would pump enough for Jenny to feed Vivian. Gertie had offered to watch her, but the Masons' didn't feel that was right. Once again, four months after returning to work, Della found out she was pregnant again. She hid the paper with the results in a file. "Perry, here's the file you asked for."

"Thanks," he said as he took the file from her. Della went back to her office. Perry opened the file and saw the first page with Della's name on it. "Della!" he stood with the paper in his hand.

Della walked in acting oblivious, "yes, Perry?"

"What's this?" he asked as he held the paper up in front of her.

"It's a piece of paper."

"I know that, but is it true?"

"No, I drew up a fake one to play a joke on you."

Perry shut the door and took his wife into his arms. He began kissing her. That's when Drake walked in, "sorry," he said, "didn't know I was interrupting. You two usually use the law library."

"Very funny," Della said.

"Paul, guess what?" Perry asked excitedly.

"Well, based on what I just saw, I'd say that Della's pregnant."

Perry was beyond excited. "I can't believe it," he said.

"I can," Della said, "I've been throwing up for days."

"I thought you two would be busy with the two you already have and not have time to make more," Paul said.

"Like you said, the law library," Perry commented.

"Well, this is the last one," Della said.

Perry's face dropped, "what?"

"Perry, you can't seriously be thinking about having more? After this one, we will have three, ages two and under."

"I just thought it was something we would discuss."

"Perry, I love you and you're an amazing father. However, I'm the one doing the hard work when it comes to having children. I spend nine months with them growing inside of me, then hours to get them out of me, and I nurse them until they decide they're done. It's nearly two years of my body being beaten up."

"Fine," Perry said and got back to work.

Della looked at Paul for a moment before going back to her office. Perry had him sit down to go over what he needed for a case.
