Paul, Gertie, Hamilton, the Masons, the Streets, and Tragg were all in the waiting room when Perry walked out. Paul saw him and the look on his face, "what happened?" he asked as he jumped up. Everyone looked and saw why his voice sounded so concerned.

"Um, I don't know," Perry said.

"You better sit," Paul guided him to a chair.

"She had the first baby and was very tired. She said she didn't think she could do it again. A few minutes later the other baby arrived. The next thing I knew, her head had rolled to the side, there was so much beeping," Perry got choked up, "she was deathly pale and there was so much blood." He broke down in tears. "I can't lose her. She's everything to me." Everyone was in tears.

"Perry," Paula walked over to her son, "you will not lose her. Della is a strong woman and she'll get through this."

Paula took her son into her arms and he grabbed on for dear life. Nicky was the only Mason child at the hospital. It was at that moment, that Paula had redeemed herself in Nicky's eyes. They all loved Della and now they may very well lose her.

An hour later, the doctor walked out. "Perry," he said. The lawyer stood and was silent. He was too afraid to ask. "She's stable," the doctor said, "she hemorrhaged, but we were able to stop the bleeding. We're replenishing her blood supply."

"Is she going to be okay?"

"I can't say for sure, but she's doing well at the moment. We're prepping a room for her and the boys. A nurse will come to get you when you can see her."

"Thank you, doctor," Perry said and shook the man's hand.

"Anytime," the doctor left the room.

"Boys?!" the others said.

Perry turned around, "oh yeah. I was so distracted by everything going on with Della. The twins are boys."

"That's great," Tragg said as they all congratulated him.

"Do they have names?" Gertie asked.

"Well, we've had the same boy names since Della was expecting Maureen. The first baby is Maxwell Phillip Mason. The second is Vincent Daniel Mason." Phillip was also Perry's middle name. The man hugged his son. Dan hugged him as well.

An hour later, Perry was in the room with his wife and twin boys. After he left the waiting room, Nicky went to sit by Paula. "I forgive you," he said.

She turned and looked at him in shock, "what?"

"I forgive you. You could have let someone else comfort my dad, but you did it. When I first met you, I knew you were putting on an act with me. What I just saw, was genuine."

"Thank you," Paula said with a smile.

In Della's room, Perry was staring at the babies when his wife began to moan. "Hey, wake up sleeping beauty."

Della opened her eyes and looked at her husband, "what happened?"

"You gave us quite a scare. You hemorrhaged after Vincent was born. They operated to stop the bleeding and gave you some blood."

"I'm sorry, sweetheart. I should have had the cesarean."

"We don't know that something wouldn't have happened. One thing has the doctor confused."

"What's that?"

"How were you three weeks late with twins?"

Della smiled, "trust me, I wish I knew too."

Della took an extra month off. Perry decided to as well. A month after the twins were born, the Burgers' completed their family with a daughter, Kimberly. Perry's office was closed for four months. It didn't bother him one bit. Truth be told, he'd rather be with his family than in a courtroom. "It's nice returning to work knowing I won't be getting pregnant," she joked on their way up to the office.

"You're welcome," Perry said in a dry manner.

"It's only fair. I mean, you are the one who got me pregnant each time."

"I didn't hear you complaining during each conception."

"Well, a vasectomy is literally the least you can do," Della smiled when he glared at her, "after all, I'm the one who carried and brought your six children into the world. Two of them at once."

Perry chuckled and put his arm around her, "I love you all the more for it." The couple got their twins settled in the office playpen before getting to work. Everything was basically the same except there was one more baby. That weekend was a three-day weekend, so they decided to take an extra day, and take the kids to the San Diego Zoo. "How do you nurse them both at once?" Perry asked in amazement.

"How long have you been waiting to ask that? The boys are four months old."

"Well, at the house we were always busy with the others. There was no time to wonder or ask anything."

Della smiled, "they helped me at the hospital. It's a lot easier now."

Perry stood, "I need to find a law book. I'll be right back."

When Laura Robertson arrived at Perry's office, she saw a sign on the door that basically said a baby was in the office. She shrugged it off and entered. The woman ignored Gertie and walked right into Perry's office. She saw Della on the couch, nursing two babies.

"Ugh, you should really lock the door," Laura said.

Della snapped her head towards the door, "Perry!" The woman had her hands full and couldn't cover herself.

Perry walked out of the library and saw Laura. He quickly led the woman out of his office and into Della's, "I can't believe you allow that to go on here," Laura said, "it's disgusting."

"I find it to be quite beautiful actually. Watching my wife, the mother of my children, provide nourishment to them with her own body. Just as I loved when she was pregnant and when she gave birth. Now, what can I do for you?"

"I have a case that I need your opinion on. I read somewhere that you had one similar and I'd like to see how you won."

"I deal mainly with homicide. You deal with corporate law."

"Fine, I was in town and I'd like to have lunch with you."

Just then, Della opened the door, "sorry, but I wanted to let you know that they're finished."

"It's alright, darling," Perry smiled. "Come in, Laura."

Della went over to the table where she was temporarily working. The babies were in the playpen. "You keep them in here all day?" Laura asked.

"Just as long as Della's nursing. That's what we did with all of our children."

"All?"

"Five daughters and three boys."

"I can't believe she talked you into turning your law office into a daycare."

"Actually, it was my idea. I didn't want to miss important milestones in my children's lives."

"Perry, I can take the boys out of the room," Della said.

"That's not necessary," he smiled, "Laura and I don't have any business to discuss. This is just a social call. Right, Laura?" the woman didn't answer.

"Jenny should be here with the kids soon," Della said.

"Jenny?" Laura asked.

"She sits with the children while we're at work. Della usually leaves before dinner and I try to as well. We're working a short day today so we can start our weekend with the children early. A trip to San Diego."

Just then, the door opened and the five Mason girls walked in with their brother and Jenny. Maureen and Vivi didn't run. Maggie and Violet sort of ran. Their parents were trying to teach them to not run into every room they entered. The girls hugged their parents. Jenny walked up to Perry, "here are the keys for the van," the young woman said.

"Thank you," Perry said before handing his keys to her, "I appreciate this."

"Are you kidding? I get to drive that car back to your house. I appreciate it."

Perry chuckled, "oh, hold on, we have your pay."

Della dug in her purse and handed an envelope to Jenny, "thanks, Della," Jenny said. She knelt down, "you girls have fun," she said. The girls hugged her, "I'll see you all when you get back."

"Bye, Jenny, love you," the girls said.

"Love you too," Jenny smiled and looked at the parents, "have fun, but not too much fun." Jenny looked at Nicky, "and you, behave," she joked. "Bye, Della," Jenny said, "bye, Perry. Thanks for the convertible," she joked as she left.

"Your babysitter calls you by your first names?" Laura said in disgust.

"She's a member of this family. There's no reason she should have to be formal," Perry said.

"You really let her take that car?"

"She's driving it back to the house."

"How do you know? And how do you have a teenager?"

"Not that it's any of your business, but we adopted Nicky when he was fourteen. We adopted Peggy when she was eight."

Della had had enough, "Laura, if you don't mind, the way Perry and I run our household is none of your business."

"Well, if you hadn't hooked your claws into him, this would all be mine."

"It's a good thing I did because those children would have never known the love of a mother."

That sent Laura over the edge and she slapped Della. Maureen got up and angrily stomped on the woman's foot. Perry grabbed one of Laura's arms and dragged her out of the office. Nicky was angry his father had beaten him to it. Peggy was scared. "Don't you ever come near this office or my family again. In fact, do everyone a favor and just stay out of the city." Perry slammed the door and walked over to his wife, "are you alright."

"I'm fine," she said, "I just wish you would have given me enough time to take a shot at her."

"Don't worry, mommy," Maureen said, "I took the shot for you."

"I know I should scold you, but I think in this case I'll make an exception." Della saw the frightened look on Peggy's face, "I'm fine," she said to the girl, "I promise you."

Peggy hugged her mother, "I'm glad."

The family had a great time in San Diego. When they returned, Jenny called and asked if she could meet with them to discuss something important. "Perry, what if she's quitting?" Della asked.

"I doubt that's the case."

Jenny walked into Perry's office, "hey, how was San Diego?" she smiled.

"Wonderful," Perry said, "now, you'd better tell us what you need to before Della loses it."

"Why?"

"She's worried you're quitting."

"Oh, no," Jenny said, "I'm not quitting. I'm getting married."

"What?"

"Yeah, we got engaged while you were gone."

"I didn't even know you were seeing anyone. The last one I heard about was the guy from the cruise ship," Della said.

"Do we know this mystery fiance?" Perry asked.

"Actually, you do," Jenny said.

There was a knock at the door and Denny walked in, "am I interrupting?"

"Not at all," Jenny smiled. Denny walked over and put his arm around her.

Della and Perry's jaws dropped. "How long...I mean...when did...Perry?" Della stammered.

"I'll explain," Denny said with a smile. "We've been seeing each other for the past year. We didn't want to tell you until we were certain it was something important. Then we didn't want to tell you and worry you that we'd screw everything up."

Perry and Della hugged the couple and congratulated them. The kids were the most excited. They loved Jenny a great deal. Denny and Jenny married in March of 1963, and in November, found out they were expecting.
