Ch. 2- Touya, Age 13

Touya is pissed at the world. He is pissed at his father the most. He is the one that caused everything in his life to be what it is. His mother, a few days prior, thought his littlest brother was Endeavor and poured boiling water on his face then used her quirk to ice it over. This landed Shouto in the hospital and his mother in the mental ward.

He just wishes his brother wasn't born, then none of this would have happened. He'd have his siblings and his parents to himself again. He'd be the star child again. Except he knew he was lying to himself. His father only ever cared about beating All Might. Even before his mother was sold to his father. Endeavor has a one-track mind when it comes to his goal and whoever gets in his way is just cannon fodder. This includes his family. If only he could fix it. But that would mean rewriting society's codes and ethics. Nothing a teenager could accomplish.

He bends down to get the drinks for his siblings, but another can of black cherry Fanta drops down. 'I guess I'm getting one after all.' He thinks as he makes his way to Shoutos' room. He rounds the corner to the elevators, but quiet sobs stop him in his tracks. He goes into a side hall to see a man with his two boys standing there. The blond kid is crying as the father and son look on as if they are too shocked to move.

Sighing he walks up and taps the extra drink on the kid's head causing him to shut up immediately and look up at him. "Here." The kid continues to gawk. "Are you going to take it or stare?"

The boy takes the drink but quickly passes it to the other kid. Touya doesn't comment, just rebalances the leftover drinks, but if he knew the kid was going to be that ungrateful, he should have just kept it. To be fair, the other one was probably why they're in the hospital seeing he has a casted leg. Besides, it's too late now and the father should have done something to help his crying kid, not just stare. He throws a glare at the father before walking off.

Later that day, Touya decides to take his siblings that weren't confined to a bed outside for fresh air. Natsuo is getting too antsy to stay in the hospital room anymore. The boy is jumping from one colored tile to the same one further away, which almost causes the nurse that is replacing Sho's bandages to be knocked over.

To be honest, he's surprised the eight-year-old boy made it this far these past few days without causing a disturbance earlier. Natsu is a very active kid, same as Yumi and himself but Natsu has way more energy. For some reason, the boy has been fascinated with what the doctors and nurses are doing. He has been annoying them with questions this whole time, which is better than knocking into them he supposes.

His father was never there since the first day. Miss Hiroshi, their strict old caretaker, was supposed to keep them home and away from Shouto but the old man didn't seem to notice his phone going missing for a few minutes after that announcement to the kids was made. The messages to Miss Hiroshi ordering her to drop the kids off at the hospital each day until Shouto got released (or until they got caught) somehow disappeared from both phones. Knowing their father, he'll have Shouto out of the hospital and back to 'training' by the end of the week, no matter if it's healthy for him to go home and start training again or not.

As they make it to the first floor to go to the playground on the park beside the Hospital, Touya notices the two kids from earlier. The dark-haired boy is now being wheeled out to a van with a worried woman next to him and the father that was with them before trailing carelessly behind. Like he knew he didn't belong with the two but is there, nonetheless. The blond kid leans on the van as his parents are waiting in the front seats.

Touya has a sudden desire to stop them. Which is really weird, why would he? His feet seem to think by themselves, and he finds himself in front of the group. It takes a minute for them to notice him. It is actually the nurse that is helping them leave that recognizes him first.

"OH, hello… um, Tamiki? No, Touya was it? Do you know them? Are you here to see them off?" She smiles at him, but the rest of the group looks at him in confusion.

"Ah, we met earlier. He gave one of his drinks to Izu." The father said.

"Oh! How sweet!." the mother turns to the boys, "You boys made a new friend? Didn't you want to say goodbye?"

"We don't know this freak." The blond said. the two boys couldn't be more than a year older than Sho if that but this one's personality speaks volumes. Considering he was wailing a few hours earlier; this kid really is a brat. Hope he grows out of it; he's starting to feel sorry for the boys' future soulmate. A hand comes out of the van and hits him in the back of the head, making Touya flinch.

"Don't call people freaks brat! That's rude!"

"Don't call me a brat ya hag!"

By this time Yumi and Natsu are obviously wondering what is going on. Yumi puts a hand on Touya's shoulder just in case she needs to pull him away.

The green-haired woman turns to the children. "Did you want to say goodbye by yourselves?"

"I-" He didn't know what he wanted; let alone why he is there. "No. I, I don't know why I came over here. I just felt like I had to. Tha-that sounds weird. I'm sorry, we'll go." He bows to them and grabs his siblings' hands.

"Wait. If you felt like you needed to come here, then we probably shouldn't leave just yet then. Always trust your gut feelings I say." The blond mother says. The others nod or shrug.

"I am sorry, but you're already signed out and unless Izuku has something he needs to be readmitted for you can no longer stay here." The nurse informs the group.

"That's fine, thank you." The green-haired mother says.

"Where're your parents?" The white-haired man asks.

"With our brother in his room. We were going to play outside. Get out of the stuffy hospital for a bit." Touya lies.

The man stares at them while the others nod. "Well then, how about we tag along to the playground too. There's not much that Izu can play with given his injuries but I'm sure you kids can come up with something to do. Your parents might need a rest too. Let's go ask so we can all go together, how about that?"

"Um, I don't know. Can't we just go over there to play? Our parents said we're only supposed to be gone for thirty minutes. We don't really want to bother them. They've had a hard time already. Besides we were already going there anyways."

This causes the father to frown considerably more than before as if he knows that Touya is lying. 'Does he have a truth quirk?' The nurse, who is already heading back inside, falters at his comment. Probably remembering that she never saw their parents since Sho got admitted but thankfully continues onward.

The brown-haired father has gotten out of the car along with the blond woman to talk to the children properly. "True but we might be able to extend that time more for you kids to play. Plus, I'm sure with the stress of your brother in the hospital not having to worry where you kids are and who you are with would be a big relief to them." The man said.

"Ah…" Touya looks down to the ground trying to think of a way to get out of the mess he put them in, probably blowing the fact they are parentless here.

"Son. Do you perhaps want to talk privately?" The white-haired man asks, stepping closer to the children. Yumi pulls them back.

"Um-"

"Touya!"

Shit. Shit, shit, shit. Turning around he sees his father coming at full speed toward them.

"Here." Something is put into his back pocket. He doesn't have time to look before his father is on them. Touya pushes his siblings behind him.

"I recall telling you children that you are not allowed to ever go near Shouto again." Endeavor yells.

"We were worried. He's our little brother. We just wanted to be there for him." Natsuo says. This is the wrong thing to say. Endeavor flames grow hotter and fiercer and much, much closer. The children take a step back so as to not be burned. Stepping into the dark-haired man's space causes Touya to look up. The man is staring at the number two hero like he has a vendetta against his father.

Forgetting where they are and who is around Endeavor looms closer. "Worried? Shouto doesn't need useless-"

"Father!" Touya yells to get his father's attention away from his siblings. "We're in public."

Blinking, the man looks around. "We'll continue this at home."

He turns to leave but the green-haired woman speaks up. "Excuse me? You are the pro-hero Endeavor, correct?"

"Yes?" He affirms gruffly turning to the skinny woman.

"And these three are your children? Plus, one more in the hospital?"

"Yes." He's obviously getting more irritated wondering where she's going with this. Honestly, so is Touya.

"And is there a reason that they aren't allowed to even see their brother?"

"Excuse me? I don't see how our family matters should concern you."

"I'm a family lawyer and my husband are a corporate lawyer and an Educational law attorney. We also dapple in other businesses on the side. You might have heard of them; The Mirror, Quirk Daily, and The Society which are a few news magazines we own. Well, I was just curious as to why you wouldn't let these children see their brother. Are they a danger to that brother? Is that brother a danger to himself or others?"

Endeavor stays silent for a moment, probably contemplating whether it is a waste of time replying or just to drag them away. "Whatever your thinking is, I assure you it is wrong. And you'll pay dearly if you try to look more into it."

The woman gives a wry smile. "Goodness me. I wasn't implying anything. They seem like sweet children. They've made friends here. We were just about to go play in the playground here actually. Let's head there now so we can … talk things out. See how often they can play together. I do hope for many times more." She smiles at their father with the sweetest smile he's seen, making a shiver run down Touya's spine feeling as if a viper is luring in its prey.

Everyone stares at a silent Endeavor who seems paralyzed. The white-haired man takes this opportunity to put his arms around the three children who haven't moved since colliding with him a few moments before and direct them to the playground. Which causes everyone else to follow. Endeavor is quick to unfreeze from his stupor and angrily follows the group, planning to yell when they get there since with this unusually cold weather for May no one would be at the playground to overhear or film them.

"Go along and play kids. The adults will be talking over here at the benches. Please don't disturb us until we're finished." The Green-haired mother says making the blond mother laugh and the two men chuckle like what she said is funny somehow.

The blond and green-haired boys ran/hobbled off to the playset, but the three other children stare at the number two hero as if to ask for permission. They are but Endeavors angry attention is not on them or All Might for once. So, grabbing his siblings' hands he runs off to the other boys. Exactly when they arrive, he hears Endeavor explode, his yelling clear as day from even over here. Touya doesn't know why they came over here if he is still going to alert the whole facility with his loud voice. But it stops faster than he's ever heard it. Turning he sees the four adults talking to him and Endeavor looking startled as hell. It's hilarious.

"I'm Izuku Midoriya and I'm six. And this is Kacchan, he turned seven last month… What're your names?" Izuku asks, bringing their attention back to the other kids.

"Don't call me that damn nerd. Names Katsuki Bakugou, I'm older than him by four months." Bakugou says. "I also got an explosion quirk!" he proceeded to showcase his quirk to them, which impresses Nat and Yumi but not him.

"OOo. That's awesome! My name's Natsuo Todoroki and I'm eight. My quirk is ice. Though it's not as impressive." The boy looks sadly down at the ground. From his feet, the ground started to frost over. Already he exhales cold breaths. His body is not meant for the cold.

"That's okay! For a year I thought I was quirkless so even having a little one is so cool in my book!" Midoriya says with a bright smile. He turns to the two left. "What about you two? Who are you?"

"I'm Fuyumi and this is Touya." She nudges him, knowing he won't introduce himself. "I'm ten and have an ice quirk like his too, although I can light my fingers on fire, but it doesn't extend more than that." She shows them her fingers that have flames the size of a lighter's flick on them. But as quick as she lit them, she makes a fist to extinguish it, then looks at her brothers with a gasp, "Oops, I forgot mom told me not to show anyone. I was just excited someone cared to ask., just don't tell my dad alright?"

With a nod from the boys, she indicates Touya, "This is our older brother Touya, He's thirteen and has a fire quirk. And yes, he's this sulky and emo all the time or tries to be at least. He actually has a big heart."

"Hey!" Touya cries while Nat is laughing.

"That's so cool!" the kid then goes off in a tangent of mutters that none of the Todoroki's can understand.

Sighing, Bakugou says, "He does this, it's part of his quirk. Well, at least that's what Uncle says. Wanna play heroes?" And like that, they run off playing.

Since the hospital two weeks ago Endeavor has been a living hell. When he isn't 'training' Shouto to death, he is stomping around the house muttering stuff and then yelling other things like, "Who do they think they are? I am the number two hero! They're nobodies. They'll pay."

Apparently, it leaked that one of his children was in the hospital, although it was never revealed why he was there or anything about his family drama. Or who tipped the media off. Touya has a suspicion it was the families they met at the hospital. He sort of remembers one saying they had some sort of connection to some news articles.

Since the public won't like Endeavor not helping take care of his family for 'some time' after they go through something, they have been stuck with him for a week. Then Endeavor was told he has three weeks off to 'take care of things' which is basically the same reason. So, more training for Sho and more neglect for the rest.

The day they met the Midoriya's the staff was sent away and with their caretaker fired for letting them into the hospital, no one is looking after them. Touya of course immediately tries to step up. He makes them sandwiches since he can't cook until five days later, they ran out of bread and when he approached his father about it, he is sent away with a "Deal with it yourself, you're a young man you should be able to fend for yourself."

Thus, he tried cooking with Yumi… which caught the stove on fire and half the kitchen. They were punished by making them use their own quirks for longer than they could for hours and then locked in their rooms for two and a half days. They then began storing water in their rooms for when this inevitably happens again.

Three weeks pass and the three Todoroki's are starving. After that incident, they were banned from entering the kitchen, and with no one to make food and not allowed out of the house they couldn't nourish themselves. They have yet to see their brother again but hear the yelling and screaming and see the dojo light on from early in the morning to late at night.

Touya is rifling through his clothes pockets, trying to find a scrap of anything to eat when a card floats out of the pants pocket of his jeans.

The Midoriya's. They seem nice and willing to piss off Endeavor. But they haven't done anything since the hospital. Didn't call to check up or arrange another meeting. Do they actually care? No one else has. Not their neighbors or the press, the staff, or their teachers when they were allowed to attend school.

He stares at the card and with Shoutos screaming in the background intensifying he punches in the number. He puts the phone in his cargo pants and buttons them, so they won't fall out and let Endeavor take notice. He runs to the dojo and interrupts Shos "training'. Burns, bruises, and sloppily laid bandages adorn Shoutos skin. He's screaming as Endeavors flames engulf the boy. Endeavor hasn't noticed his oldest son yet and continues yelling at Sho, grabbing his arm, and twisting it until it nearly snaps.

"Stop!" Touya runs in between his brother and the 'hero'.

"You dare-"

"No. You've been training him past the point of exhaustion for weeks. He's so bruised and bloodied he might even have a concussion and internal damage. Not to mention the rest of us. You know, your other children. You fire the staff and won't let us leave. You've banned us from the kitchen. You're starving us to death. We haven't eaten more than scraps since mom was here. Please do something!"

"You insolent brat." he grabs Touya's hair and kicks his legs out from under him. He slams the boy's face into the ground so hard his nose breaks. "Do not ever mention that woman again. She no longer exists. You hear me boy?"

"Yes!" He yells as Endeavor yanks him up by the hair and slams him into the wall. He lights his other fist on fire and sears the boy's abdomen causing the teen to scream before dropping him.

"Good. Stop being overdramatic. I've made a decision. Fuyumi will pick up that woman's position and be the woman of the house. While you and the other one will be going to a special training program set up by the commission. Although, I don't see what they can teach both of your sorry asses that I haven't tried. What with your flames eating your skin and the other having that weak ass quirk of frost that can do nothing., you two won't last two weeks without dying. Hah, well one could hope."

He looks back at Shouto, then at Touya. "Fine I'll order groceries and only Fuyumi can enter the kitchen. Fix him up, training is done for today."

The brothers watch their devil leave. Once the door closes Touya runs to Sho. "Hey. Hey. It's alright"

"No, it isn't! He'll just come again in a few hours to train some more! Why did you do that? He'll only make it worse for us. He'll train me harder and make you use your quirk. Your skin is already not growing back in places and healing right. I know I've seen it! He'll kill you if he makes you use your quirk anymore! OR uses his on you again like now. And- And-" He starts shaking and sobbing into his older brother's shoulder, "He's sending you two away! Yumi will be here, but- but she always turns away like everyone else. Like she's in her own make-believe family and not going through this too! I just want this to stop! Please Touya make this stop!"

Touya hushes him and soothes his back. "It's alright. I'm fine. I can take it. I'm strong, just like you. For a year and a half, you've been training and look how strong you've gotten! I'm so proud of you. But I'm your older brother I should be protecting you and Yumi and Nat. We should stick together more. I'll get us out of this. I promise. You can rely on me."

Shouto settles down a bit more, he's stopped crying but he's still shacking, though because of what just occurred or exhaustion from the rigorous training his body has gone through these past few weeks, Touya has no clue.

He then remembers the phone in his pocket and takes it out. It's still connected to the caller. "Hello?" He asks tentatively.

"Touya?" Mr. Midoriya asks. "Are you alone?"

"Sho's here but no one else."

"Good. Listen. You did good. I recorded that. I'm sorry you had to go through that. I've been looking to see what I could do to get you kids help since we've met. Everything from past cases to laws currently being reviewed. But your case is special since we're talking about the number two hero here. He doesn't have a big fanbase since he's not really liked. But he's still up there on the charts that if we do this wrong, we'll hurt good people by toppling the hero society. If people know how cruel their heroes are they will lose confidence in all heroes. We don't want that, not yet anyway. Worst yet we'll be hurting you kids if this isn't done correctly, you'll probably in more danger than you are now.

So, listen, find out when he will send you two to that place and where it is. I think I can put in a potential parental abuse alert to the heroes and authorities to get them on the lookout on your location and to start them looking into it thanks to this recording you got me. But I don't know how far this recording can go. There is a ton of things he can say in order to negate the things said in the audio. Like the training, he could say it is regular training to improve your quirks. And like I said this is sensitive matters we're dealing with. Like I just said, one wrong move could spell disaster for you kids.

I'm trying to be quick and thorough to get you out of there quickly and smoothly as possible. Send me pictures and audio of all ill will he gives you. But make sure you're not caught. If you think you might then don't, I'll find another way. Stay safe you hear me?"

While Mr. Midoriya was speaking Touya brought Sho back to his room and went to get the bandages. Natsu saw and shooed him out of the way saying he's been practicing, which was fine with Touya since he was able to focus on his phone call while simultaneously snapping photos of Sho with Nat's' phone.

"Yes. We'll do that. In fact, I'm sending pictures of Sho right now on Nat's' phone. I'll send the other information when I get them. I don't want to ask and prompt him to do something we don't want."

"I'll have Inko ask for playdates with you guys more often. We already sent him a message for Izuku's birthday party coming up so hopefully we can extend the time before he sends you two off to sometime further off. That'll give us more time to find a solution."

"Yes sir. Thank you." His voice starts to get gravelly with held back tears.

"No problem kid, you did well. You're keeping your siblings safe. That's always a tough thing to do for anyone, much less someone of your age. Again, I'm sorry this society failed you kids. I'll make it right, I promise."

A few seconds later He finishes his call and turns to his siblings. Yumi entered halfway through the conversation and went to get icepacks from the kitchen now that she could enter along with some sparse food for the rest of them. He tells them what he did and what Mr. Midoriya said.

Yumi shakes her head, "I don't like this. Why couldn't we just be a normal happy family? How is he going to get us out of here? And then where will we go? An orphanage? And what about mom? What will happen to her? Will we ever see her again? Will they arrest dad? Or just strip him of his position in society? Will we be toppling hero society for our selfish needs?" She starts pacing the room.

"Face it, some people aren't lucky, and life isn't fair to those who aren't. They don't get big flashy quirks that can mean something, they don't get families that love each other unconditionally and are there for each other. That go to the park and bakeries and festivals. They have normal lives. We aren't one of those lucky people and we need to face it and take whatever the world throws at us and swallow it down!" She's in Touya's face by the end of her rant.

He looks at his younger sister with sadness in his eyes. "You might be right with some of that. They are good questions. But you are wrong about not having a family that isn't unconditionally there for each other. You have us." He gestures to himself and the two boys on the bed, one blankly staring at them and the other weeping with his eyes closed and hands over his ears.

"I don't care about what happens to dad or society- they can burn for all I care. You guys are the only ones that matters to me. And I'm sorry but mom is broken and won't ever come back to us the way she was. She was always slowly breaking, and you know it. She couldn't even look in my direction at all at the end, I'm surprised it wasn't me that she burned and was Sho who only looks half like him. Honestly, I'm sad it wasn't. But you need to get that silly idea that we can be a normal happy family out of your mind because that- that is what is selfish. It isn't all about your wishes Yumi. It is about reality and reality only gives negatives freely. We need to earn the positives. And that is what I am doing for us." He finishes this in a snake-like whisper using his words to pierce like venom.

The two eldest siblings stare furiously at each other for what feels like an eternity when it is mere seconds before Yumi shoves some food into Touya's hand and storms out teary-eyed. Touya feels a split second of guilt for that, but he is too mad to care, feeling himself in the right on this. She doesn't understand what the eldest must go through to protect the youngest. But she needs to, it seems like he won't be able to be there for them if this goes south.

The next day the two older siblings remain in their rooms not speaking to each other. Sho is trained for a shorter time than what has appeared to be his new normal and then taken care of by Nat who seems to have a knack at addressing wounds. Endeavor is true to his word about getting groceries and Yumi taking over the household activities. She didn't cook or clean to his satisfaction since she never has done them before and no one can or is willing to show her, so she got punished for that by using her quirk to the extreme again, to which Touya took pictures to send to the Midoriya's.

A week later, Touya now having to go down for 'family dinner' heads to the dining area that usually only has his two siblings in there since Ray usually ate in her room claiming to never be hungry after cooking the meals. And Sho eating late after school and training, they hardly ever saw him since he got his quirk. So 'family dinner' was a few and far between ideal by now.

As they sit at the table silently eating Endeavor clears his throat and starts to speak, "I talked to the commission, and it turns out that they only want one of you. Touya you will leave Monday morning at six."

He turns his attention to Natsuo "Now for you, since your quirk is not useful to anyone and your presence isn't useful here you will be sent to Hiyasaki, a military school. Sadly, the next opening isn't until next year. But I am sure I can convince them to take you sooner. In the meantime, you will work for your keep here until then.

Finally, you girl, I expect everything to be done perfectly, the food, laundry, cleaning, every little thing you do. Unlike this garbage you made today." He flicks his plate away from him in disgust. "Do you all understand?"

"Yes sir." the children chime.

"Good. Also, the Midoriya's are expecting us to come to their son's birthday party this weekend, it is a sleepover Saturday through Sunday. Touya, you will not attend. I expect no word of this conversation to any of them. Am I making myself clear?"

"Yes Sir." They repeat.

"Good. Shouto meet me in the Dojo for your afternoon training." He gets up and leaves the siblings to themselves.

"He is really sending you away?" Shouto asks.

What about the Midoriya's plan, that throws whatever you two were planning out the window. Fuyumi taps on the table.

Touya shrugs in answer to Yumi's question and nods to Sho's question.

Do you think if we put rat poison in his food, we can get out of this hell faster? Natsu taps on the table causing Touya to hide a laugh and Yumi to kick him from under the table, while Nat says out loud, "At least we get to get out of the house…Sorry Touya."

Touya honestly doesn't care about going out, only not getting sent away from his sibling. He'll make the call to Mr. Midoriya later tonight when the house is asleep to inform him of this new development. It's Thursday night and they have a few days to fix it.

Shouto, who never learned their secret language since he was too young to, and then upon gaining a quirk he has whisked away like he was never there to begin with, questions why they are laughing at Nat's comment and tapping the table.

"We have a secret language that Dad doesn't know." Yumi quietly explains.

"Want to learn it?" Nat asks.

"Sure!" Sho jumps excitedly in his chair but stops. "Oh. But I have to go train."

"We'll show you a few words then. Just don't repeat them to mom and dad." Touya says and starts tapping and counting and pausing as he taps the first word so Sho will understand how the words work. "This is our word for dad. It means flaming trash." The other two laugh. "We use it to warn each other when he is coming. Or add two more knocks like this to say he is particularly mad." they watch as Sho copies him a few times.

"This is the word for hide." Nat shows him and he copies it. "It's usually Touya that tells us to hide."

"This is the word for safe," Yumi says.

"I know this one! You guys tap it on my back when I'm upset. I just thought it was a different way of rubbing my back to calm me down."

"Yeah, you're correct. We use it when dad leaves or when we need to calm one of us." Yumi smiles at him and taps it onto the back of his hand as he practiced himself.

They continue for a few minutes with other words but stopped so that Sho won't get into trouble for taking too long going to the dojo and so that they don't overwhelm him with all the new words.

Once Sho leaves, Yumi goes back to ignoring her big brother while cleaning up. Nat runs off to his room. Touya tells Yumi that it really was a good meal and to never mind what that hot head tells her. When she doesn't respond he leaves and locks his own door to text the new information to the Midoriya's.
