A/N: Helloooo, I'm back with another fic. So this fic is set in the middle of the last few episodes where Charlotte informs Henry about where they're going after graduation (before the trio headed to Dystopia), and it's just a little extra moment between the friends. Again, I don't know if it's canon or not because I haven't really watched the actual episode properly.
It's just a sweet, short fic that I wrote today in the middle of revision, because I got some spark of inspiration.
The idea of this fic came to me while I was listening to 'Us, Again' by SEVENTEEN. It's an amazing song by one of my favourite artists, and it never fails to pull at my heartstrings. I'd recommend listening to it while reading, I think it would help set the scene for the fic.
Happy reading :P
"I can't believe you guys will be leaving so soon. It's gonna be weird not being able to see your boring faces everyday."
Jasper and Charlotte shot Henry a dirty glance as they took a mouthful of their frozen yogurt.
"Was that supposed to be an insult?" Charlotte sassed, raising her eyebrow.
"Pfft, no it wasn't. I'm just saying, we've been friends for over a decade, and we've practically seen one another everyday, it'll just feel lonely without you guys here, you know."
"Awwww, Henry's gonna miss us."
"Shut up, Jasper."
"No but for real though, I really am gonna miss you guys a lot." Jasper looked up at both of his best friends and flashed them a sad smile.
"Yeah yeah, I'm gonna miss you idiots too. I don't know how you'll get stuff done without me, but I guess you'll manage."
The three friends all shared a laugh around the Harts' dining table at Charlotte's remark, because, well, technically it was true.
"But now that we're leaving, I do have a question for you two." Jasper smirked.
"Why did you guys break up a few years back?"
"We never dated!" Henry and Charlotte simultaneously exclaimed, looking at Jasper in disbelief.
"Liars! You guys told me right on this very table that you were dating. Don't you remember?"
Realisation struck the pair as they shared nervous glances towards each other.
"Well-" Henry started, his voice going up an octave.
"It was fake, Jasper. We never dated. Ray was the one who came up with that idea. We only told you that, to prove to Ray that you could actually keep a secret."
"You failed, by the way." Charlotte deadpanned.
"That wasn't my fault, though."
"Touché."
"Wait, so you guys never actually dated?"
"No, we didn't." Henry exasperated.
"And you guys never kissed?"
"NO! Well, at least not in real life." Henry smirked knowingly.
"Henry! Didn't we agree to put this dream fiasco behind us?"
"I never mentioned anything about dreams, Charlotte."
Charlotte narrowed her eyes as she kicked Henry under the table.
"Oww, Char! Okay, okay I won't talk about it anymore, jeez."
Henry put his hands up in defeat as she gave him the 'Charlotte look'. Again. For the millionth time.
Jasper looked between the two, still in shock to hear the truth.
"Are you sure you never dated?"
"Oh my gosh, Jasper, no we didn't. We never ever dated. Not for a single day."
"And you only bothered telling me this now?"
"You never brought it up until now."
"Okay, fair enough." Jasper shrugged.
The three then sat in silence as they continued wolfing down their oh-so-delicious froyo. That was, until they heard a sniffle.
"Jasper, are you crying?"
"Look, if it's about the dating th-"
"No, no of course not. It's just that I'm gonna miss moments like these, just spending time with you guys. Even though we bicker a lot, you guys are the ones who understand me the best. We've been friends for so long, I don't know what I'll do without you."
Henry and Charlotte's eyes softened as they looked up at Jasper, whose eyes were welling up with tears.
"I'm gonna miss you too, Jasp." Charlotte replied, placing her hand over Jasper's.
"Yeah, man. It's gonna be tough out here without you. Who else would be there to talk my ear off?"
Jasper playfully punched Henry in the shoulder, a smile lingering his lips as tears continued rolling down his cheeks.
"Charlotte, you're crying too?"
"No, it's just uh, allergic reactions. Yeah."
"You're still a terrible liar, Char." Henry laughed as Charlotte rolled her eyes.
"As much as you guys annoy me, I love you dorks more than anyone, please don't get yourselves killed while I'm gone."
"Awww, that's the nicest thing Charlotte has ever said to us." Jasper snickered.
"Oh be quiet, you were the first one who got all cheesy."
"In my defense-"
"Oh my gosh, Henry's crying too!" Jasper cut himself off as he peeked over to his blonde best friend.
Charlotte looked over to Henry after Jasper's little outburst, and yes, there were tears streaming down his face.
"Just come here, both of you."
Henry stood up and grabbed both Jasper and Charlotte, pulling them in for a tight group hug. Cries and sniffles were heard, as the three friends held on to one another, not wanting to let go anytime soon.
"Promise we'll all keep in touch?" Henry asked, after he had calmed down.
"Of course, Hen."
"Promise we'll still be best friends?"
"Absolutely, no doubt."
"Promise we'll tell each other when things are not going great?"
"When have we not?"
"Promise we'll call everyday?"
"Well, duh."
"Promise you won't miss me too much?"
"You ruined the moment, Henry."
Despite the tears, the three friends smiled once again, still cuddled up to one another. It was a bittersweet moment, a moment that they would want to cherish forever, because when was the last time they've hugged like this?
Growing up together was one heck of a roller coaster ride, with crazy ups and downs, but over the years, they built up an unbreakable bond, a real friendship that was everlasting. It didn't matter that they were going their separate ways, because whatever happened, they would meet again someday.
A/N: And that brings us to the end of the fic. I hope you guys enjoyed reading it! Byeee and see you in the fic :P Also, reviews are very much appreciated. Okay, byeee .
