(Pre author notes)
This is just a little test to see if anyone would like this story, it's not getting started right now, but I want to see if it's worth starting at all (or at least worth putting effort into) anyways enjoy (also I was really tired when I wrote this so it might be rough on the edges)
An old leather book laid on the attic floor of the Loud House, recently found by the darkest of the Louds, it began to pulse with powers unknown. Lucy trembled, feeling the mysterious aura surrounding it, even though she had yet to open it, she doesn't even remember where she found it, it was just there and she knew she planned on opening it.
Do I dare? She thought to herself, it was a grimoire, she knew that, she has seen plenty before it, but none ever so potentially strange, most gave off a dark, sinister aura, but this one was… different.
She took a deep breath in and said to herself "I can do this, I like this stuff, the worst it can do is release me from the endless suffering that is life" Lucy's bleek speech gave her the confidence to reach out to the book, but as soon as her hand made contact she felt differently. For the first time ever, it felt as though she actually didn't want to be dark and macabre any more, it was such a sudden feeling like the very thing that defined who she was just got erased, she stumbled backwards and fell into a box full of Christmas ornaments, she yelped in pain as one broke sending a shard directly into her upper thigh.
She fought through tears to look down, it was bad, the ornament itself was tightly wedged in her, she wouldn't be able to remove it herself, the pain was surprisingly faint, but she assumed that was the adrenaline pumping. She needed to go downstairs, trying to read that book was a mistake, but just as she was about to leave her eyes reconnected with the book, it was as if something was fighting inside her to open that book, she turned away, it was demons, it had to be what else could have such power over her, she inched her way to the stairs that drop down from the attic, and as she did her macabre personality began to return to her, but she just couldn't leave, once again she turned to look at the book, "sigh… one peek, and then I'm gone".
When she took her first step towards the book she immediately felt the pain she knew she should of earlier, it was so searing in fact, that she fell to the floor moaning in pain, it pulsed through her body, and everytime she looked towards the book, it felt as though she just swallowed pure arsenic. The pain was unbearable, but now she knew something definitely didn't want her to read it, but something else REALLY wanted her to read it, maybe it was her natural rebellious behavior, maybe it was a demon trying to curse her, she didn't know, but she had to read that book.
Reaching out for it was like reaching her hand through barbed wire, it was almost impossible, she pushed her hand towards it just barely grabbing the corner of the cover, now it felt as though someone was actually trying to shove her off the book, and the only thing keeping her there was her grip. She screamed in pain as she flung the cover open and then…
Nothing, time itself seemed to stop as Lucy herself froze with a face of agony, but made no noise. And then… her brain lit aflame as new undecipherable knowledge flooded it, it was a horrible pain, she threw her head back screaming, her eyes glowed with the images of the knowledge she was gaining and her mouth twisted into one of horror, she couldn't see anything, she couldn't hear anything except the things filling her brain, but that too was incoherent jumble. She could make out words, names, faces, but none of it made sense, at least it didn't seem significant. "Diaper…push…shove…Loud…luck…love…ace…Chris…House…Lincoln…season…episode" they were words she recognized, but they made no sense, and then it all just stopped.
The book closed itself, and Lucy collapsed, only know could she hear the pounding against the attic door, she crawled over and pushed it down with herself on top of it, causing her to tumble onto the floor below, her siblings and parents surrounded her, "Lucy! Oh my God are you okay?!" All Lucy responded with was, "I fell on ornament" as she pointed to her sizable wound.
She was brought to Lisa's room and thoroughly patched up, her parents wanted to take her to a hospital, but Lisa insisted she was fine, and it wasn't as bad as it looked, all Lucy needed was some rest and she'd be fine. Now laying in her own bed Lucy couldn't help but replay the words and images she saw, yeah she could understand some of it, but it was all useless, and all the other stuff was garbled, but that little part of her that made her open the book was now making it impossible to not try and figure out what was said to her, but what was she supposed to do? It was indecipherable, it wasn't Latin, at least not any she knew, and it wasn't any language she could recognize, most likely it was some dead demonic language, she couldn't figure it out.
She "sigh"ed and buried her head in her pillow, if she could just get to sleep then she could stop worrying about it for now, so she tossed and she turned till eventually she distracted her mind enough to pass out.
When she was finally asleep, it was surprisingly… lucid, she knew she was asleep and her dream was nothing, just her in an abyss, all she heard were those same things that were said when she opened the book, she tried to block it out, but plugging her ears only made it louder. It was maddening, now all she wanted was to wake up, after what felt like hours of listening to the garble, the images that she saw started to fly around her in the abyss, it felt like phycological torture, it was as if her mind was slipping away, but as she stared at the images passing by her she realized something, staring at the images started to ungarble both some of the words and the picture itself, so she chose an image and focused on it, it wasn't long before the image became clear, and the words made sense, but now she was even more confused. It was… Leni, and Lincoln, it was that time he was trying to teach her how to drive, but it was weird as it skipped around the day, and there were strange sounds that happened in an almost comedic timing fashion, like something you'd see in a sitcom. Lucy unfocused from that one and focused on the next, this one was the time Lincoln was considered bad luck, and again it had the same strange effects that the last one did, she focused on a different one, it was her and Lincoln during the clogged toilet incident, another one was Lily trying ice cream for the first time. She looked from one to the next to the next, but it didn't make any sense, it was just things that her family did, some she knew about, some she didn't, a lot of the time Lincoln would look directly at her and start saying things about the situation, almost as if he was talking to her, it creeped her out.
She was trying to figure out what it all meant when she noticed one of the images seemed to be above all the other images, it was always there before every other image, she began to focus on it, and she started to hear… music? She actually tried to say something, but she couldn't seem to make noise in the abyss, the song and the images were clearly focused on Lincoln, he was dodging girls like ping pong balls as the song said, she even got passed by him in the image, although she was all blacked out looking, then the hook came in about being in the Loud House and pushing and shoving to show love, it was true sure, but she didn't understand… What the hell was this? Then the image came to a still at the end and clear as day it simply said, The Loud House over an orange house with a word over it, "Nickelodeon". Lucy was trying to grasp what she was seeing, it was her family, she got that much and they were… being watched. It all came to her as that little part that had been pushing her to discover this now started to grow a voice of it's own, the wacky sound effects, the strange jumps in time, the way Lincoln looked at her sometimes, the song, all of it was exactly what you'd see in… a TV show, but that would mean that The Loud House "it's a TV show, you're nothing but a character in a TV show!" with the voice of the entity that had brought her to this conclusion still ringing in her ears she flashed awake.
She turned to look at the clock, it was 8:00 am, the exact time she was supposed to get up, she saw Lynn getting up as well, she didn't even say anything to Lucy she just got up and darted for the bathroom, Lucy heard the clambering of her other siblings also trying to get to that sweet porcelain escape first as well, but Lucy couldn't even get out of bed. It wasn't real, it was just a dream right? I mean it had to be she wouldn't actually just be a character in a TV show, that would be silly, but despite her best efforts to calm herself down her body shivered and shook, and then that voice rang in her ears again, almost mocking her as reality began to settle in "I'm just… a character in a show, I'm not real…" her eyes almost doubled in size while her pupils shrunk down to almost nothing, though you wouldn't be able to see it. Admitting to herself hit her like a truck… right in the stomach, she immediately threw up all over her shared room, it was too much for her to bear. She looked around her room, none of it looked real, none of it felt real, she felt nauseous again as panic set in, she needed to get out of there right now. She stumbled through her door and down the stairs almost falling down the last couple, she darted out the front door, not responding to the comment her parents tried to make to her, she barely made it a couple feet before collapsing in the grass, tears started to roll down her face as she felt the grass, it was there it was in her hand, on her face and her legs and her feet so why didn't it feel real!? Why did it feel so fake, like it didn't exist? Lucy's reality started to collapse on her as her parents looked out from the house with concern on their face. Lynn eventually walked out to her and patted her on the back, "you okay Lucy?" She heard him say it, but it didn't sound… real, she turned to face him and he saw the tears rolling down her face, her voice cracked but she still said "we're… we're not real, none of us are real" before breaking down again, her father was absolutely stunned by what his daughter just said, he pulled her into an embrace, "honey, it's ok, it's ok! I'm here, we're real, ok?" he looked over his shoulder and looked at his wife with concern, she returned the look, at this point the other siblings had gathered behind their mom to see what the commotion was, Lincoln stepped forward to talk to Lucy, "hey Luce? What's wrong, are you okay?" Lucy wriggled out of her father's hug and stepped away from him before collapsing back to her knees, she looked to Lincoln, he wasn't, she looked to her siblings, they weren't real, it was all just some sick game for someone else's entertainment, they weren't pawns in some game, they were less than that. She looked to the sky, all she saw were fake clouds and a fake sky with nothing beyond it, no greater reason, nothing, just a device in a show, all she saw was herself, something that had never and will never exist, she started to shake violently in a mixture of anger and fear, as she looked back to the sky and shouted "I'M NOT REAL! I…I'M NOT-" she broke down again, she couldn't it was to much to handle, her breathing became irregular, faster, louder as her dad, mom, and all her siblings rushed to her, they started to panic, but when she looked at them, they weren't real, they were never real.
(Author's Notes)
So this is a little thing, you know? I can't write A mother's love right now, cause I'm kinda banking on some brave hero to come help me write a sec scene cause I'm not gonna lie, lesbian sex is not my specialty. Now this is a story I've had in the concept stage for a while, and this is a very tired me thrown together first chapter, I'm just kinda testing the waters, seeing if this kinda story would be enjoyed by anyone, if it is then it'll be the next story I work on. And if you do like it then sorry but you won't be seeing another chapter of this for a long time, not until A mother's love is done, that comes first, but if it gets enough people to like it then it'll be next, if not then oh well, at least I know now. All criticism is welcome, peace
