Note: I watched this spectacular 2 part CBS event series on DVD a few days ago, and I really loved it! It's bleak, but also quite powerful. Good enough for me to write this short story!

Shira had gotten up early to watch the sunrise. It was something she like to do when she either couldn't sleep, or needed to feel peace. Today, it was a bit of both.

She and her daughter Aziza were safe at Masada, except she knew that that couldn't last forever. The Romans would eventually find them and find a way to get past the walls that look indestructible, and then she would either be dead or enslaved.

She tried to not let it bother her, but she couldn't always shake the feeling.

'Ima? You okay?'. Shira turned and Aziza.

'Yes. Just, thinking about a lot of things.' She replied, slightly embarrassed.

'Mind if I sit?'

'No, not at all.'

2 minutes later

'I worry about the future sometimes as well.' Aziza said.

'I do as well. I just keep it hidden.' Shira replied.

'But you know what helps? Knowing that God is in control, and having you for an Ima.'

'Ohhh. (giving her a hug). I love you too, precious daughter!'

After that very sweet hug, Mother and Daughter watched the rest of that beautiful sunrise.
