I am not still in love with Gil Grissom.

I am not still in love with Gil Grissom.

I am not still in love with Gil Grissom.

Sara repeated the mantra in her mind over and over again. She had been doing so ever since Ecklie had confirmed that her ex-husband had agreed to consult on the case, since he agreed to come back.

He was coming back. Back to Vegas. Back to the lab. Back to her.

I am not still in love with Gil Grissom.

Sara walked down the hall. She was waiting on the warrant for Lady Heather's home, still trying to work out what she would say to the woman when they finally came face to face. Even after all this time, Sara still didn't much like the dominatrix and every time they've come in contact, especially when it involved the older woman being a suspect, they… clashed.

She hoped, this time, she might be able to keep her cool. But with Grissom in the picture…

I am not still in love with Gil Grissom.

Rounding the corner, heading towards her supervisor's office, Sara froze. He was here. Talking to Lindsey, or at least Lindsey was talking to him. She couldn't see his face, but Sara knew it was highly unlikely Grissom recognises the young woman. She had only been a girl when he left.

Sara had to suppress a smile as her mind conjured an image of his puzzled expression. Eyes wide and mouth, most likely, hanging open a little. She watched him as Lindsey walked away, he was looking after the young CSI, probably still trying to work out who she was. Sara took him in, eyes raking down his back, her heart beating wildly against her ribs.

I am not still in love with Gil Grissom.

Grissom turned and all breath seemed to leave her body. He looked… good. More than good. Face tanned and more lined than the last time she had seen him. Stubble scattered across the lower half of his face. The blue rain jacket did nothing to hide the little bit of weight he had gained. Damn it.

"Sara," he breathed. He looked… stunned. Hie eyes racked her face, searching her. Those blue eyes were piercing. She could drown in them.

I am not still in love with Gil Grissom.

"Gil," she said, sincerely hoping she didn't sound as breathless as she felt. It had been over two years since she had last seen him, yet he was still able to get her blood pumping with just one look. Keep it together, Sara. She should say something, anything. Things were starting to get awkward.

But she couldn't. No words came to mind. She couldn't take her eyes off him. He was so…

I am not still in love with Gil Grissom.

"I'm back," he said, smiling a little and shrugging his shoulders. It was like he too didn't know what to say. He was looking at her so intently, Sara shifted a little under his unwavering stare.

"I see that," she replied. Grissom chuckled a little and Sara couldn't breathe.

I am not… I am not…

He smiled and damn her if she didn't feel a slight pull. Butterflies flapping their wings in her stomach.

"Grissom," a voice called from behind her. Sara looked round to see Ecklie approaching them. "Hey," the Sherriff said, holding out his hand. "Thanks for coming." The two men shook before Ecklie turned back to Sara. "Uh, let's step in D.B's office. Sara." He walked away and Sara turned back to her ex-husband.

"Who's D.B?" Grissom whispered, before following after his former boss. Sara couldn't stop the smile the quirked up at her lips as she walked behind him. She should have known he wouldn't remember the current supervisor's name. After all, she only ever called him 'Russell'.

Walking behind Grissom, Sara watched has he took in the lab around him. Things have changed since he had last trod these halls. When they arrived at Russell's office, Grissom threw her a look. Raising his eyebrows. He tried to smile, to keep his usual stoic mask in place, but Sara could see the uncertainty lying beneath it. He was nervous.

Sara could feel her heart melting at the insecurity he was trying so hard to keep from shinning in his eyes.

I am not… I am not… I am…

She pursed her lips together and nodded towards to the office. It was ok. He could go in. Grissom smiled, his eyes softening at her nod, and he turned to the room. Taking a breath before entering.

Damn it.

I am still in love with Gil Grissom.
