One Word Prompt: Bar
To say Killua felt out of place would be an understatement. This was the exact opposite of his preferred way to spend a Saturday night. Bodies were grinding up against one another to his left, causing the scent of sweat to permeate the air. And to make matters worse, one of the drunk dancers just spilled their drink all over his new sweater. At least his top is black so the stain isn't noticable.
Killua huffed in annoyance. He was supposed to be meeting Kurapika and Leorio here but couldn't find them anywhere. After searching for 10 more minutes, Killua gave up and forced his way through the drunk crowd to order a drink of his own. If they are going to make him wait, he may as well get a head start on the alcohol, considering it takes a lot for him to even feel a buzz. They can just come find him when they get here.
"Triple shot of vodka," he told the bartender as he pulled out the only empty stool along the counter.
"Triple?" came a surprised shout.
Killua rolled his eyes and glanced to the right. "Yea, triple."
The tan skinned male leaned closer into Killua's face as he gave him a quick once over. The attention isn't something Killua is used to. "But you're so small! You would be wasted immediately and not be able to enjoy your night! That wouldn't be fun."
Killua's heart rate increased and he felt his cheeks burning. From embarrasment or anger, he wasn't sure. He glared into the man's curious hazel brown eyes. "Excuse you, I can hold my liquor."
The man laughed. "I like you! I'm Gon, what's your name?" He took another sip of his daiquiri and turned fully to face Killua.
Before Killua could reply, the bartender came back with his drink and placed it in front of him. Killua quickly dug out his money, slammed it into the awaiting hand, and grabbed his glass.
After quickly downing his vodka, he turned towards Gon, who was still staring at him. "I'm Killua."
"WOW! Killua is so cool!" Gon praised, causing Killua to flush once again. "I could never drink straight vodka! Especially not three shots at once!"
"Shut up, idiot. You can't just say things like that," Killua grumbled, which only had Gon laughing even more.
As if the universe loved embarrassing him, Kurapika and Leorio chose that moment to walk up. They immediately noticed Killua's red face and the other male practically right up against him.
Leorio grinned. "Hey kid, we don't see you for two weeks and you already go and find someone to replace us?"
Killua glared in return but otherwise ignored his remark. "What took you guys so long? I have been looking everywhere for you two."
"Sorry," Kurapika chimed in. "Someone just had to stop and ogle at every woman we walked passed on our way here."
Killua rolled his eyes and chuckled as Leorio huffed, mumbling out excuses. Of course that's what would cause them to be late. Leorio has no self control when it comes to a pretty woman.
"Killua has a pretty laugh!"
And just like that, Killua was the embarrassed one again. If he's being honest, he had already forgotten about Gon sitting right next to him. He isn't sure how, with how close he is sitting. Killua smacked him on the back of the head. "What did I just tell you? You can't just say things like that. That's embarrassing." His red face ruined the intimidating expression he directed Gon's way.
Gon rubbed his head and pouted. "Huh? But it's the truth," he grumbled. He stuck his tongue out at Killua before smiling and turning to the other two. The taller one was snickering while the blonde stared at Killua with disapproval. "Hi, I'm Gon!"
"Kurapika," the blonde gave a slight nod.
"Hi there, I'm-" Leorio paused. "Wait, Gon? Gon Freecs?"
"Uh, have we met before?" Gon tilted his head to the side, but he didn't recognize the man in front of him.
"Oh my God! It's me, Leorio! I used to baby sit you when I was in middle school! Look at you! You're all grown up now! How are you doing? How's Mito?"
"Leorio!" Gon shot out of his chair and hugged the taller male before immediately launching into a conversation.
Killua leaned back onto the bar as he listened to Gon and Leorio catch up. It really is a small world. Gon was excitedly telling him stories about high school and how he decided not to go to college so he could stick around to help his aunt after his grandma passed away two summers ago.
He took this opportunity to properly take in Gon's appearance, from his tanned skin and green tipped black hair to his green hiking boots, which oddly enough looked good on him. Killua, on the other hand, would not be caught dead wearing them. Gon wore a simple white deep V neck top that showed off his muscular chest, and dark brown pants. Killua's own black turtleneck and tan pants contrasted nicely. Thrown over the back of his chair was a hunting jacket, the same shade of green as his boots. As Killua's eyes traveled back up to Gon's face, he was shocked to find himself staring back into the man's eyes, and Leorio and Kurapika were nowhere in sight.
Gon winked and Killua's heart sped up in his chest. His cheeks burned, but he couldn't seem to break away from Gon's gaze again.
"Soooo, Ki-llu-a~" Gon whispered and leaned forward, offering his hand. "Wanna dance?"
If it were any other night, with any other person, Killua would immediately turn them down. He doesn't dance. He only comes out every couple months to catch up with Kurapika and Leorio, the only two people he considers his friends. He never goes out onto the dance floor. He doesn't even give others the time of day.
But something is different about Gon. Like there is some magnetic pull that Killua can't resist. He doesn't want to resist. And so, Killua nodded, accepting his hand and allowing himself to be pulled away from the bar. Away from his solitary life.
And he's excited! He can't wait to see where this new adventure will lead him.
A/N: I have really been wanting to write recently, but have been really stuck on what to actually write about! So I googled a random word generator, got the word "bar", and this fic was born. I hope you enjoyed it :)
