A/N: I started writing this chapter right after finishing chapter 7. I'm playing it out a bit more, but over time I just thought of things to incorporate into the story line. I know their are hints of GaLe in the last chapter, but this is going to be a Rogue x Levy fic so to whoever else likes this possible crack-ship, don't worry. Just showing my OTP is still at least very good friends.
No lie, when I re-read the original story a couple years ago and began this re-write, I knew my style had changed and was rough for the first copy. When I went back and read chapter 6 and 7 of the orignal this time, I literally cringed. So yes this chaper is really really long and has to get a lot of the boring stuff out of the way, but it's going to get there.. eventually. maybe
Thanks for reading anyway
"Its definitely going to be a couple weeks before all your strength and magic returns. You will need to take it easy as much as possible. You're knees may buckle when you try to stand or walk on your own, but I dont discourage you on trying a couple times a day so that you can build strength slowly, just have some one near to help though." The doctor, an older woman with light purple hair with aging silver streaks, spoke clearly to Levy as she finished looking over her wounds, helping the young mage redress. "No physical activity that requires a lot of moving, bending stretching. If you were to get in a pool and hang on to a float after your wounds are closed, that would probably be okay. The water's helpful bouyancy may also let you practice steps while holding the edge. But be careful no matter what."
As the doctor finished speaking and stood, there was a knock at the door. After recieving an 'enter' from the doctor, who was now gathering her things, the door pushed open and Rogue entered, She told him pretty much the same things she had just said to Levy before getting the small sack of jewels he held out to her and made her leave. Rogue moved to the bed and lifted Levy into the craddle position they were both getting use to.
"Sting has set up the video lacrima in one of the meeting rooms. I figured we'd go ahead and let you check in with Fairy Tail. After that, if you want, I can give you a tour of the guild." Rogue offered as he carried her out of the room and down the hall again, turning down the hall with art, but stopping at the second door from the stairwell. It was already cracked, so with a slight shove of his foot, it opened to allow them inside.
The light dragon slayer, Sting, along with his exceed, Lector, and Frosh sat around a table against one of the walls of the room. The yellow video lacrima sat on the table with it ready to place a call.
"Heya, Levy. Welcome back. I'm sorry the mission didn't go as planned. I heard you still got them though, so congrats on that." Sting said as Rogue placed Levy in the chair next to him, before taking the one on the other side of her. "It's nice to hear you want to stay with us at Sabertooth while you heal. This guild is a home to fairies too. We appreciate all that yall have done to help." The new master of the guild's voice was light, but Levy knew he was being as serious as he could be.
"Thank you for the offer. It seems I'm going to be here for a while." The script mage replied, giving the blonde a warm smile. "I just hope I don't become a burden."
"Nonsense, we'll love the time you're here, just let us know what we can do. Let's just hope your guild will take it well." Sting said before calling the Fairy Tail guild's main lacrima.
Since Mirajane was the main one to answer the lacrima calls, she had made sure it had a main spot behind the bar when they had reconstruced the new guild hall, but also to where Master Makarov could sit in his usual position on top of the bar and be in the call. The silver haired woman was filling up a round of drinks at the other end when she heard it ring and excused herself to answer. She saw the Sabertooth guild symbol on the ID and answered the call. The demon mage and master of the guild were excited to see the younger dragon slayers, with their exceeds, and their Levy.
"Levy! Are you okay? What happened?" Mira asked right away, seeing the bandages on the bluenette.
Upon hearing Levy's name, Gajeel, Pantherlily, and Lucy, followed by Natsu, stood up and made their way behind Makarov, now in the call as well, to check on their friend.
Levy quickly went over the details of the mission and where things took the wrong turn, and the summary of what Rogue did to help and bring her back to their shared town of Magnolia.
"..it was so late and Sabertooth was the closest so he brought me here for the night." Levy finished, a pause in her voice.
"Are you coming home?" Makarov said, sensing there was a reason for the call and not her being at the guild. The group stared at Levy as they waited for a reply.
"I'll be home," Levy started, "just not for a while. The doctor says I'm too weak to be on my own at all for a while." There was a slight break in her voice, both from the injuries to her throat, and the sting in her heart from having to say she was weak.
"But Sabertooth has given Levy full invitation here, where we will accept full responsibility for her care and well being until she is fully healed or ready to return to Fairy Tail." Rogue quickly spoke up for the first time since the call began.
There was a silence on both ends of the lines for a moment before Natsu broke it.
"Well it's nice to see that Sting's taking being Master seriously." He said before he laughed, earning an elbow in his side from Lucy.
"I've taken it seriously since the beginning!" The light mage argued.
"You're right, you have, mostly." Makarov's voice cut them off before they could continue. "With that being a factor, I don't see a problem with it if Levy wants to stay. We're just glad to know she's safe now. Take care of our script mage the best you can. You can keep us updated on your condition, or if you ever want someone to come get you, just call."
"If you need me to do anything, you have my lacrima caller, Levy." Lucy said and wished her friend well.
"Thank you, guys." Levy smiled at her friends before they said their goodbyes and signed off. The light dragon slayer turned in his chair and stood as he picked up Frosh and Lector, letting them sit on his shoulders.
"Well that was better than expected. I'm gonna drop Frosh and Lector with Yukino for a while and then, I have a few things I need to attend to in the office if you need me." Sting said before starting to exit.
Levy turned her chair to Rogue and gave him a small smile. Seeing her friends had made her feel better. Now she was pretty interested in seeing the rest of the guild that he wanted to show her. With his usual carefulness, Rogue lifted Levy and began to walk out of that room.
"Our guild doesn't really have much for me to show you. The hallway that my dorm is on, has Sting's across from it. We have the largest two dorms, and thats why we're on our own hall." He stopped so she could see down the hall. "The end leads outside to the side balcony, next is the hallway with my dorm, the next hallway is offices for guild members to gather quietly to plan out missions, along with these three rooms closest to the stairs, and that third hallway is the smaller dorms for a few guild members who are working to get their own places, or theres being work done on their homes." Rogue finished speaking before he turned to go back down the stairs that would end by the guild's entrance.
"Your guild thought about each other during the building process then, and it shows." Levy smiled up at him as she actually began to look around the guild, careful not to twist or fall out of his arms.
"Yes, your right about that. There are a few things that were done in the building process like that, but not as noticable. The skylight windows were my idea, so that Sting could really enjoy them on the brightest days. Yukino helped get the bar stock order started and searched for almost two week on a place that sold Rufus's favorite aged whiskey at wholesale so that he would alway have some after a hard mission, and he some how snuck building a kareoke stage in to surprise Orga for his birthday that has now become a weekly event. There's a few other small ideas that were pitched and incorporated."
As Rogue spoke about his guild member, Levy watched as the majority of them sat in different areas of Sabertooth, drinking, talking, and laughing, just like Fairy Tail. She nodded as he continued to walk through, letting her see the pool and bar set up along with the stage he mentioned before taking her through another door that led into a massive library.
"If you ever dissappear, this library and the room next door where our guild's history archives are will be the first places I look. I know you'll want to have a look through to find a few to start reading, but they are organized. Rufus and I are the main two that really come in here, unless someone is researching something for a mission. I'll make sure someone accompanies you to get the books for you."
With her still in his arms, he left that room and opened the door to the next to show her before leaving the bookworm dissapointed by leaving both reading areas to show her a couple other areas such as where the guild's showers were and the 3 large excercise rooms. Levy had noticed in passing, a door slightly shorter than any of the other room entrances and looked to be made of older wood, but didn't give it much more thought as Rogue continued by it. He ended the tour outside Sting's guild master office before returning to the main guild area and the booth they occupied this morning.
"Your guild is very lovely, Rogue. Obviously, I can't wait to explore the library and history archives, but the work yall have put into making this your shared homes is wonderful." Levy said as he placed her down on the soft cushion.
"Thank you, it's been nice to show it to you. Are you hungry or need anything?" The shadow mage ask, a smile tugging the edge of his lips, his inner dragon having a little boast of pride within,
"Lunch sounds nice." Levy said before he went to the bar and returned shortly after. Placing soup in front of the script mage, he sat across her with a salad for himself. As they ate, Levy and Rogue began to talk more about the guild. He mentioned to her how things have been a little different with Sting being the master, Frosh was usually hanging out with Lector so that the other exceed wouldn't feel like he had to be next to Sting in the office most of the time and would rejoin the shadow mage around dinner for the night. Rogue also pointed out members to Levy she hadn't met yet and told her their names with their magical powers, wanting her to feel comfortable to ask anyone if she needed something. Then their subject somehow shifted back to the library when they saw Rufus next to their guild's request board.
"Didn't you say that you two were the main ones in the library? I understand why he's in there a lot, and I know on the train we discussed that you like to read some, but are you really in there as much as he is?" Levy asked. Their dishes from lunch pushed to the edge of the table as their conversations continued.
"Well, most of the books in the library are technically mine and Rufus's. Mainly ones we have recieved as gifts or rewards. We only keep a few personal reads in our own stuff that we couldn't stand if something happed to." Rogue replied, taking a sip of his water.
"Thats my whole collection." Levy said with a giggle. "But you two seriously put that whole library together?" Her voice filled with wonder as she thought about all the titles that could be in the library she would later explore.
"Most of them. Some members have donated a few here and there when they recieve them on missions as well, but no one usually picks the requests that have books as part of the rewards." He said honestly, recieving a nod from Levy as she rested her head in her hands. He could see that she was starting to get tired. The dragon slayer slid out of his side of the booth and moved to pick her up again, carrying her back up to his room so that she could rest.
He laid her on the bed and moved to shut the curtain of th balcony so that the light wouldn't disturb her. Levy rolled to her side that hurt the least and closed her eyes. Still feeling the tired effects from taveling and the soreness from her body telling her to sleep, Levy sunk into Rogue's pillow and drifted off into a much needed rest.
Levy had been so tired that day after lunch that she slept on through most of the night. When she awoke before the sun rise the next morning and looked around the room, she noticed a glass of water with a straw next to the bed, a few shopping bags on top of the dresser, and the shadow dragon slayer lying curled up in his window nook next to the balcony. Levy smiled, feeling better knowing Rogue was close if she needed him before seeing Frosh curled up at the edge of a pillow next to her. She decided to lay there until the shadow mage woke as the start of daylight began to break over the horizon.
Rogue's body rolled away from the brightness making its way over the land to peer through the window curtain that had been in front of his face. Feeling the darkness of his room reclaim his face, he opened his eyes slowly and began to push himself up from the nook space. His arms reached above his head in attempt to stretch the tense muscles within his back, as he rolled his shoulders, recieving a satisfying pop down his back before he relaxed. He usually only had one thing on his mind when he woke up, coffee, but he knew there were more important tasks to handle before he could get some of the enticing bean water.
"Levy," He whispered, knowing Frosh would be asleep, "are you awake?" He stood and slowly walked to the side of the bed, careful not to startle her if she wasn't.
He was answered with a simple "mhm" as she carefully rolled onto her back to look up at him. With careful arms, the dragon slayer helped Levy to sit and have some of the water that was next to the bed, before assisting her to the bathroom. He waited outside the door until she said she was done and helped her to the chair in the corner of his dorm.
"I'll be out and will take you downstairs soon. Here, for you." He said quietly and with some unintentional gruff, not wanting to disturb his still sleeping friend, as he grabbed the shopping bags from the dresser and sat them at her feet. After that, he grabbed some clothes from his dresser and a towel from the closet and disappeared into the bathroom.
Levy nodded, sensing that Rogue was not a morning person despite his early wakenings, before grabbing a bag and pulling it into her lap. The first bag had a couple t-shirts and shorts similar to what she was already wearing. The second had two dresses, a couple nicer shirts, and some skirts. The third bag was from a swim suit place and had about three different ones for her to choose from. The script mage smiled, knowing that Rogue didn't have to go out of his way to get her new clothes, but the action was very sweet. Placing the swimsuits back into their bag, she reached for the thin papermade handles of the final bag.
The last bag was different only because there were no store imprints on the bag, it was just a simple medium sized brown paper bag with handles and a '-Y' had been written in marker in one of the corners. It had been stapled shut so that no one could see the contents. Careful not to rip the bag too much or get cut by a staple, Levy opened it and peered inside, feeling heat rush to her face.
Yukino had apparently went and picked out some more underwear for Levy, and while she appreciated it, the ones she recieved weren't her usual style. She knew that these would be similar to the ones Lucy wore. Still, she couldn't stop her hand from reaching in and pulling out a black pair of lace and staring at the material for a moment. While the script made usually couldn't stand the way lace felt against her skin, she could tell that these were much softer. After a minute, her brain ultimately decided on going with them anyway. Afterall, she couldn't exactly ask the dragon slayer to go and return frilly panties without dying from the embarassment first.
The bluenette decided to go on and change while Rogue was preoccupied. Getting out of her old clothes was pretty easy and didn't hurt as much as she was anticipating. She had luckily finished pulling her shirt over her head as the bathroom door opened and Rogue walked back into the room, lacking a shirt with his pants zipped, but still unbuttoned. His black hair was wet and dripping droplets onto his chest and shoulders before they started to run down the rest of his body to be stopped at his pants.
Levy felt her throat go dry as she saw the mage walk in front of her, the room still mostly dark but enough light escaping through that she could see him without extra senses.
"I'm almost ready." The dragon slayer said, oblivious to how his current image was affecting Levy's mental thoughts, walking to his dresser and pulling out another white shirt. Rogue slid his arms through the sleeves, pulled it on, and buttoned it before tucking it into his pants.
The script mage didn't know why her gaze lingered on him while he dressed, but she turned her head quickly, looking at the still sleeping exceed on the bed. Rogue finished with his socks and boots before he grabbed a cloak out of the closet and moved to pick up Levy.
"Thank you for the clothes." Levy said quietly as he walked her down to the guild hall. With it being so early, they were the first ones awake and there for the guild.
"Its nothing. Yukino helped." Rogue replied in few words, one goal in mind. Instead of taking Levy to the booth his usually preoccupied again, he sat her in one of the comfortable stools of the bar before he walked behind and turned on the small grill for the day. Flipping on a few switches to help the morning sun light up the guild floor the rest of the way, the shadow mage finally made it to the coffee machine where he pulled two different color coffee canisters out of the cupboard. Making the first pot with two large scoops of the black canister before putting that one back in the cabinet, leaving the larger red canister on the counter and pressed the button the brew some coffee.
"Won't you have to work? The doctor said it'll be at least a month before I'm back to full strength." Levy asked, watching the shadow mage pretty much open the guild hall before he sat on the stool next to her.
"I'll be okay. I've saved for a while." Rogue replied, definitely attempting to participate in the conversation, but the bluenette notice his gaze didn't leave the coffee pot that was quickly filling, causing her to smile at his morning quirk.
"Do you always open the guild hall?" Levy continued, wondering if Rogue was sometimes Sabertooth's Mirajane. She recieved a shrug before a worded answer.
"I'm usually up, usually want coffee." He said before the light on the machine had indicated the first pot was done and it was ready to brew another. Rogue stood and walked back to the machine, changed the filter, placed two scoops out of the large red canister into a filter and started the next pot. The dark haired mage poured him a cup and sat the pot on the back burner at the top of the machine before taking a much needed sip from the black liquid.
"I can see that." Levy rolled her eyes, sitting back up. "It smells good. Could I have a cup?"
Levy's sense of smell hadn't returned since her violent encounter recently, but she could still pick up the smell of his brew.
"Its a dark roast." He said in warning, pulling another cup down, setting it with sugar, creamer, and a spoon next to her. "A regular pot will be done soon."
"No, dark roast is fine." The bluenette replied with a smile. "I have it when I'm up late with research, but no one else at the guild cares for it." As she spoke, Rogue nodded before he poured her a cup and she enjoyed the aroma before making it to her liking.
"It's my favorite, but I'm the only one to drink it. I just leave it here." He replied with a shrug, taking another sip from his cup. The dragon slayer moved back to his seat next to the bluenette and allowed their conversation to flow about nothing important, just enjoying her company.
They didn't have too long of a wait for other Sabertooth members to rise and get there. Of course Sting was one of the first ones down, having about half a cup of the regular coffee and saying good morning to the two before he left to go to one of the exercise rooms of the guild. An average height woman, with brown hair, forest green eyes, and a light brushing of freckles on her cheeks was the first one through the front entrance before walking behind the bar to continue the day's set up. She cast a smile to Rogue and Levy as she passed, gathering the things she need for breakfast. Levy remembered Rogue saying her name was Fawna the day before. She was a major animal lover like Bisca, and a wood mage like Laki, but she spent most of her time tending to the guild like Mirajane.
Levy and Rogue conversed about little topics as the script mage watched the guild wake with the morning. Fawna greeted everyone when they sat down and set them up with their usual drink before going back behind the bar to start breakfast. Many members were already seated in little groups, recollecting memories from last night, or discussing the plans for the day. The exceeds were awake and flying around the guild before settling down to join their friends. She was happy to be in a place so similar to her home.
After breakfast, Rogue had taken Levy to the library and sat her in a cushioned chair, followed by Lector and Frosh. He was going to go join Sting for a bit and asked the exceeds to keep Levy company in case she needed anything.
Frosh and Lector had been super sweet by helping her narrow a few generes down before starting at the top of that book case and reading her the titles. If there was one she thought may be interesting, they brought it down to her. They gave no objections as they helped her go through several dozen books and flew them down, placing them in a small stack beside her.
So it was no surprise to Rogue when he returned and the bookworm was already almost half way through a novel. He gave a slight chuckle at the sight and joined her.
Almost a week had passed and Levy was doing pretty well. She still needed assistance everywhere she went, but her throat had healed well enough for her to speak for more than a few minutes at a time. She still couldn't do a lot on her own, but she could feel her energy and magic slowly recouperating.
Her and Rogue had become closer than either of them thought they would. The two mages had gotten into a morning routine, getting up and ready for the day, going downstairs to open the guild, having almost no conversation until coffee was made, and could usually be found in his booth or the library for the rest of the day. For this week, he spent most of his time just sitting next to her as she read, some times reading with her. He had been constantly making sure she ate something, which was nice since she would usually get so deep into a book and skip a meal or two. Their conversations normally flowed so casually and the two got along so well that it was only a few days before Levy's anxiety about staying a month had nearly vanished.
The two of them had also agreed to let her rest for a majority of the week and then work on building her strength together when she was ready. Their plates from breaskfast pushed to the edge of the table, Levy had mentioned she felt as if she was ready to start trying.
"As long as you don't try to strain yourself too much, I don't see why not. The doctor had sent a letter and said she had a home call near the guild early this morning, so she was going to stop and check on your progress any way." Rogue told her, having recieved the letter this morning when Fawna walked in.
"I won't." Levy started, "We'll start with my balance first. Besides, you'll be right there with me." Smiling at the dragon slayer across from her, she sat with Frosh in her lap. She had on a gray tanktop that in cursive letters said "Bookmarks are for Quitters" with a jean skirt, one of the outifts that Rogue had gotten her.
It was then that the script mage looked around the guild and felt a little nervous. His dorm was bigger than the others, but still had limited space, and she didn't exactly want to be relearning how to balance and walk in front of a crowd.
Rogue nodded, his red eye watching Levy as she looked around his home, sensing her uneasiness with everyone around. The guild's door opening caught his attention as the doctor walked in. With a nod of his head to the stairs, he motioned for her to go on up before standing and taking her to the dorm for her to be looked over again.
"I have to go meet with Sting, but I'll be back." He said as he placed her down in the chair at his desk and turned to leave the room again.
The doctor and Levy had exchanged pleasantries and had very little conversation as the script mage was examined. After a bit of time, the doctor confirmed that Levy was healing very well and that the wounds were closed, but still very sensitive and delicate. She gave warning of reopening the wounds as she searched through her bag. The older woman left some extra bandage rolls on the dresser and a small circular dark brown bottle filled with liquid.
"This should help the wounds heal properly now that they're closed, It'll help not leave as many scars and still keep your skin soft and hydrated, but the wounds have to be closed for you to use it." She finished speaking before turning to look at Levy who was smiling from the good news. The doctor closed up her bag and put it in the crook of her arm before moving to the door, opening it to allow the patiently waiting dragon slayer inside.
The shadow mage gave a slight smile in return to the bluenette at seeing hers when he walked in. He had over heard most of the doctor's words even though he was outside. Giving the professional a thanks and some jewel, he moved to gently sweep Levy out of the chair into his arms where she had preoccupied a good portion of the past week. Not that she minded really, Levy found herself enjoying the comfort of his strength around her more and more each day, which is why she felt like she needed to start trying to distance herself.
"I'm glad to hear you're healing well. Shall we start the recovery training process?" He asked, walking out of the dormroom and down the hall with smaller woman.
"Sure. But how are we going to do it?"
The dragon slayer had slowed down and stopped outside the office type room where they had made the call to Fairy Tail before he pushed opened the door. The video lacrima was no longer in the room and the table had been pulled back to the middle of the floor. Where the six chairs usually circled around the table, only the two at the ends had stayed where they where, the others were against the wall. Rogue carefully sat Levy down in the seat closest to the door.
"You can take your time using the table for support to help hold yourself up. Once you can do that and can stand while just using it for balance, we'll work towards moving around the table." He said, closing the door so they would have privacy. "When you can hold and walk, we'll work on your self balance and walking without support. When you're ready, we can also get in the pool and have floats for you to hold while you kick, helping build strength against the water."
"Sounds like you've done this before." Levy said, a little shocked by the mage walking to the other end of the table.
"Same basic concept." He said with a shrug, making Levy curious but not pushed the topic, just giving a slight nod in response to the man. Eager to get started, Levy braced her hands on the table in front of her and began to push her self up into a standing position; shifting most of her weight to her arms as she let the pain shoot what felt like minature lightening bolts through her legs, the script mage let out a grunt from the gravity of pain hitting her.
Levy took a few deep breaths as she tried to push past it and just stood, slowly letting her legs get use to her full weight. She felt like she was doing well.
"Good. Now when you can, sit back down and do it again." Rogue instructed. "You'll be sore from using the muscles again, but its also building them in your arms and shoulders."
Levy nodded before following his directions, repeatedly sitting down and then forcing herself to stand for a little bit. This was probably her seventh time pushing her self up, but as she was letting the weight back onto her legs to stand, she felt her left leg give just a twitch of a wobble before her knee buckled and Levy dropped her arm to the table to catch her wait before she could fall further. Levy didn't have time to react other than that before Rogue had carefully lifted her back to where she sat in the chair.
"I think we should take a short break." The dragon mage suggested, "Lets go down to the guild hall for a bit, and we'll continue the recovery training in a little bit." Receiving a small nod, the man picked up the script mage and made his way downstairs, barely feeling the bluenette relaxing against his chest in a way that made him feel a sense of comfort too.
The rest of the day went by rather quickly after they got some lunch and chatted with a few of the other guild members for a few hours before returning to the office room so Levy could continue working on her strength. Though, Rogue only let Levy work on it for another hour before making her quit. He quickly dismissed the argue Levy was about to start about quitting by reminding her that they could continue tomorrow and it gave her time to read some tonight.
He took her to the dorm and sat her in the comfortable chair in the corner, handing her book to her from the nightstand, before leaving to get them something to eat that wasn't made at the guild.
Unfortunately, the restaurant they had orignally decided on was closed, not wanting to go back empty handed, Rogue walked a little further down and turned the corner, going to the next restaurant close by he knew had good food. Before he entered the red door of his new destination, the dragon slayer caught the scent of rain on the wind and a glance of dark clouds in the distance. Personally, he loved storms. They were shadow playgrounds in a way to him. So it didn't bother him as his focus remained on food.
Roughly twenty-five minutes later, he was walking out with some of the best food in town and starting to walk a little faster than normal back to the guild. Not just trying to beat the rain that was sure to come from the darkened clouds that were now over head, but also just wanting to get back to Levy's side a little more than he was expecting.
Rogue had just gotten in view of the guild when he felt the rain starting to come down, hurrying inside before it could come down any harder on him. He quickly climbed the stairs and made his way back to his dorm. To his relief, Levy was still deep into her book, finally on the last page. He placed the food on his desk against the wall, moving the bandages and bottle from the doctor to the nightstand first, and began to unpack the food.
Levy closed the book and sighed as the feeling of joy from completing another novel washed over her and she looked at Rogue. She was finally being able to smell things other than his dark coffee and, while it wasn't the aroma of style food they agreed upon before he left, it was an enticing and delicious scent that made her stomach growl quietly.
"Welcome back," she started, "that smells really good." Levy was handed a white take out container, a fork, and chopsticks before Rogue sat down with his own container in his desk chair.
"The ramen shop was closed, so I went to another place I knew was good." The shadow mage replied as he opened the lid and stuck his fork into a peice of chicken and ate it.
"Well thank you for going out of your way." She giggled before she began to eat as well. "Oh, Frosh stopped by and said he was staying with Lector tonight." The bluenette had a slight blush before she continued, "I think he said something about Sting and Yukino but I was too deep into the plot to catch what he said exactly.
Rogue nodded, there was no telling what his brother was up to tonight, and changed the topic of conversation to her book. The rain outside hitting the closed windows and door to the balcony slowly beating against it in a harder rhythm. He mostly listened while they ate, gathering their trash once they were done to run it down stairs while she changed into her sleep wear.
When he returned to the dorm again, he went to the bathroom to change into a pair of sleep pants and a loose tank top. He stepped back into the room and went to pick Levy up to place her on the bed so she could lay down. He turned off the lamps from the nightstand and desk before walking to his now dreading nook space. He had no issues giving Levy the bed, but he just hadn't realized how cramped the nook could be. Every morning he had to stretch and pop the stiff bones in his back and shoulders before he could get up.
"Rogue.." Levy's voice soft and hesitant voice was barely louder than the rain against the window in his ear. "You should move away from the window."
Rogue turned his head to look at the script mage, seeing her form clearly in the dark instead of just a shadow figure on the bed. She had raised up onto her elbow so she could see his figure against the window, a slight blush tinting her cheeks.
"In case of a storm. We shared a bed at the hotel, what would be different here?" Her voice cautiously continued. Rogue knew he shouldn't, but she was right. He could hear the thunder in the distance making its way closer, and the glass would do nothing to protect his ears from it when it was right outside.
"If you're sure," Rogue couldn't stop the first part from leaving his lips, quickly thinking, "I wouldn't want to hurt you in our sleep." He could see the slightly annoyed smirk that appeared on the bluenette's face.
"You're not going to break me. But it's your choice." She replied before settling back down into the soft mattress.
Rogue contemplated for a moment before his body sat up and moved to the other side of the bed. Lifting the covers, he gently slid inbetween them and laid on his side, facing the back of the script mage as he tried to go to sleep.
His gaze traveled across different waves of her hair, see where they landed on his pillow, every now and then watching the rise and fall of her side as she slept. Her scent of paper and ink was still heavily in the air, but the hints of cherry blossoms had been completely replaced by his scent of cedarwood.
Rogue let that be the last thing that conciously crossed his mind before sleep claimed him as well.
