Spencer Reid slowly navigated his way through the crowded London City airport to find the baggage claim, feeling uncomfortable as he was jostled by countless other travelers. Too many people, too much noise, but at least he was almost out of there. He grabbed his suitcase when it came by on the conveyor belt and began making his way to the exit, trying to find some sign of Emily waiting for him. Standing outside he still didn't see her, and felt a surge of panic building. Maybe she's just running late. He readjusts his glasses and hopes she's almost there.
This trip was already off to a great start. In his rush to get to the airport he had forgotten his contacts, and now Emily was nowhere to be found.
"Hey there stranger," a familiar voice says from right next to him and Spencer jumps before looking over to see Emily standing next to him, now struggling to control her laughter.
"Oh, uh, hey Emily," he manages to get out, as he feels his cheeks start to turn red.
"I'm so glad you finally came to visit! And I like the glasses," she tells him while she gives him a tight hug. Well at least forgetting his contacts wasn't completely awful.
"Oh, umm thank you," he replies awkwardly, still a bit embarrassed, and noting that she looks a bit different, but he can't quite pinpoint what it is.
"So you wanna keep standing here or do you want to go back to my flat?" she asks with a smile.
"Oh the latter, definitely," he says and she laughs a bit as they walk to her car. He throws his suitcase in the trunk and they drive back to her place, chatting about cases and nerdy things the whole time.
They arrive at her place and she shows Spencer to the guest room to get settled, and then they head to the kitchen.
"Want some coffee?" Emily asks as Spencer sits down at the table.
"Yes please, with ex–" Spencer starts, before she interrupts him.
"Extra sugar I remember," she says with a laugh and sets down a container of sugar in front of him.
"Thanks," he says with a smile, as he watches her move through the kitchen.
He still feels like there is something different, but can't quite place it. Maybe it's just the sweatshirt she's wearing, he hasn't seen her seem so relaxed and informal in a while. He will admit, it's a good look for her. Soon he is just completely lost in admiring her. Her hair, her face, everything about her.
"Spencer?" he hears close by, and shakes himself out of it to see her standing there holding two cups of coffee with a grin.
"Huh? Oh thank you," he says blushing as she hands him the coffee and begins pouring sugar into it.
"You alright?" she asks.
"Yep I'm great," he says too quickly, while trying to hide his blushing face.
"Did you hear what I asked?"
"Uhm can you repeat it?" he asks with a nervous laugh.
"I asked if you had anything you wanted to do while you're here?"
"Not really, so we can do whatever you want."
"That's fine. But we can worry about that later, because there is something I would like to talk to you about," she tells him, beckoning him over to the couch.
Spencer sits next to Emily and nervously asks,"Is everything okay?"
"Yeah! Everything is fine, it's just…" She trails off hesitation evident in her voice.
"Just what? You know you can tell me anything."
"I know. Spencer…I'm pregnant."
