Starting Over

Chapter 8: Christmas and Traveling

"CHRISTMAS!"

Pacifica shot up.

"CHRISTMAS!"

She heard noises from the other side of the room. She looked over and saw Dipper looking at her, rolling his eyes.

"It's Mabel," he said.

"CHRISTMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAS!" Mabel opened the door. "CHRISTMA-oh there you are Pacifica-CHRISTMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAS!" She ran away.

"She does this every Christmas," Dipper said.

Pacifica rubbed her eyes. "What time is it?"

Dipper checked his watch and groaned. "6:30."

"What time did I come in here?"

"2:30. It's gonna be a looooooooooooong day," he said and sighed. "Guess we better go help her." He got out of his bed, stretched and yelled, "CHRISTMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAS!"

Pacifica laughed. She stood up and yelled, "CHRISTMAAAAAAAAAAAAAS!"

They ran after Mabel and yelled through the hallway until Stan walked out of his room in nothing but boxers and said, "YOU GUYS CONTINUE YELLING, I KILL YOU!"

Mabel paused. "But Grunkle Stan, it's Christmas."

"I figured," Stan said and walked back into his room.

A few hours later, the house woke up again and Pacifica, Mabel, and Melody made everyone pancakes. Pacifica kept noticing Peter staring at her, so she forced herself to look at anyone but him. After they ate, the men did the dishes and they opened presents.

Pacifica got a fashion book from Ford, a pretty hat from Stan, some makeup from Wendy and Peter, a key to the Shack from Soos, Melody, and Soos' abuelita, a shirt that said "I AM A QUEEN SO DEAL WITH IT" from Mabel, and a charm bracelet from Dipper. The bracelet had a two charms on it, a ghost and a heart.

Pacifica had gotten Mabel a new phone since she kept complaining about it and Dipper a book about mysteries by his favorite author that had just been published.

As a group, Pacifica, Mabel, and Dipper had gotten Ford a new journal, a pot of gold for Stan, and photographers for Wendy and Peter's engagement that was available for a few years, so that Peter had enough time to propose.

After they opened presents, Pacifica, Mabel, and Dipper had to go back to the hotel to pack, because they had to leave the next day. However, before they left, they saw something. They were going downstairs when they heard something they maybe shouldn't have heard.

"Wendy, I love you more than anything in this world," Peter said. Pacifica and Dipper looked at each other with wide eyes.

"Should we?" Pacifica asked.

"Yes," Dipper said.

"What are you guys talking about?" Mabel asked, but Pacifica and Dipper were already hurrying downstairs.

"Wendy Blurble Corduroy, will you-"

"STOP!" Dipper yelled, beating Pacifica to get to the bottom of the stairs.

"Dipper, what you doing?" Wendy asked, motioning to Peter, who was on one knee, and was currently glaring at Dipper.

"You can't marry him, Wendy," Dipper said.

"I knew it!" Peter said. He turned back to Wendy. "Babe, he's still in love with you, after 8 years!"

"No, he's not!" Pacifica said, finally reaching the end of the stairs. "Wendy, last night Peter kissed me."

Wendy looked at Peter. "Is that true?"

"No," Peter said. "Babe, she's just jealous of our relationship."

Pacifica scoffed. "Wendy, you have to believe me," Pacifica said. "Last night, he pulled me into the bathroom and kissed me. He told me that because supposedly I'm hot and he's hot, we should be together. I told him that you don't deserve a cheater, but he told me that you've been cheated on before, so what's another one. Please, Wendy."

Wendy looked from Peter to Dipper and Pacifica, then back to Peter. She sighed. "Peter?"

"Yeah?" Peter said, growing hopeful.

"Get out," she said, and pointed to the door.

"What?" Peter asked.

"Get. Out," Wendy said. "I don't want to see you ever again. Don't go back to Idaho."

"Babe, please-"

"Get. Out."

Peter stared at Wendy. He stood up and turned towards Pacifica. He walked up to her. "You will regret this," he whispered. He walked out of the Shack.

The Pines, Pacifica, and Wendy sat in the living room. Dipper, Mabel, Pacifica, and Wendy were on the couch, Stan sat in his recliner that he brought everywhere, and Ford was sitting on the floor. Soos, Melody, and Soos' abuelita were at the stoor, getting food for dinner.

"DUCKTECTIVE!" Mabel yelled.

Ford rolled his eyes. "This show is idiotic."

"This show is amazing," Stan said.

Ford sighed and continued writing in his new journal.

Dipper groaned. Everyone looked at him. He was looking on his phone.

"What's wrong, lil bro?" Mabel asked, leaning over to look at his phone. She saw it and rolled her eyes. "Damn it."

"What's wrong?" Pacifica asked.

"There is an extreme weather worry. We can't get back to Idaho with the car," Dipper said.

"Then stay here," Ford said without looking up from his journal. "Or you could come with us on the Stan O War."

"We can't do that!" Dipper said. "We'd be loosing so much money!"

"Your dream is to travel around the world, right?" Ford asked.

"Yeah, but-"

"And now you have an opportunity to," Ford said. "So why wouldn't you take the risk. Tell BSU to transfer your files to U-of-O for a few months. And then, during the summer, you could just go back to Idaho. Or you could come with us for a while."

Stan looked at his brother. "Sixer, come on. The kids don't wanna be on a boat with two old men."

"I wouldn't mind," Mabel said.

"Neither would I," Pacifica said.

Traveling around the world sounded thrilling to Pacifica. Getting to see different people and cultures would be amazing.

"So, Dipper, you want to join us?" Ford asked, looking at Dipper.

Dipper paused, obviously thinking. He rolled his eyes. "Fine, but-"

"YAY WE'RE TRAVELING THE WORLD!" Mabel yelled.

Mabel put up her hand and Pacifica high-fived her.

"WOOHOO!" both of the girls said.

"Where are we going first?" Pacifica asked.

"Paris," Ford said.

"WOOHOO!" the girls shouted.

Dipper smiled at them.

Dipper came downstairs one night (Soos had insisted everyone stayed after Christmas, so him, Pacifica, and Mabel packed up their things from the hotel and "moved in" at the Shack) and saw Wendy sitting on the couch crying in a ball.

"Are you okay, Wendy?" he asked, walking over to her. She held something in her hands. "What is that?"

"It's a pregnancy test," she said through sniffles.

"And it's-"

"It's positive," she said, and burst out into tears again.

Dipper sat down on the couch and opened up his arms. "Come here," he said.

She looked at him and collapsed in his arms. He rubbed her back as she cried.

After a little bit, Wendy backed away from the hug. "Dipper, what should I do?"

"Do you wanna keep the baby?"

"I don't know."

"Well, you should figure that out first, and then if you do keep it, you have to decide if you want Peter in your baby's life. And if you don't keep it, then you have decide if you want Peter to find out," Dipper said.

Wendy sighed. "I wanna keep the baby," she said.

"Well, now that we have that figured out, what should we do next?" Dipper said.

Wendy paused. "I want Peter to know. It is his baby," she said.

"And what if he doesn't want anything to do with it?"

"Then that's his problem," Wendy said. "I don't care. I just feel like he should know about it."

Dipper nodded. "Do you need anymore help?"

Wendy shook her head. "I'll be fine," she said. "Thank you, Dipper."

"No problem, Wendy. If you need me, you know where to call me," he said.

"I know, Dipper," she said.

She hugged him again.

Pacifica started walking downstairs when she saw them.

"I'm so sorry about Peter," Dipper said.

Pacifica smiled. Dipper was one of the kindest people she had ever met. He was comforting Wendy after a terrible breakup. She hoped that if she ever went through a bad breakup, she would have Dipper (or at least someone like him) to comfort her.

She smiled at them and walked back upstairs.

A few days later, Pacifica, Dipper, and Mabel packed up everything they had brought, gone to the store to get some more things, and boarded the Stan-O-War.

"Goodbye, everyone!" Dipper yelled. "See you guys in six months!"

"BYE!" yelled Wendy, Soos, Melody, and Soos' abuelita.

The Grunkles set sail and soon they were traveling the ocean.

"So, there are only four rooms, so two of you will have to share-" Ford started.

Mabel ran to Pacifica and wrapped and arm around her. "ROOMIES!"

Pacifica laughed. "ROOMIES!"

Ford rolled his eyes. "Here's the kitchen, there's the living area, and below deck are the bathrooms, bedrooms, and the office. We only have two desks, so you guys will have to work in your rooms."

"Fine by me!" Mabel said. "PACIFICA, LET'S GO PICK OUT OUR ROOM!"

"OKAY!" Pacifica yelled.

"ROOMIEEEEEEEEEEEES!" Mabel yelled and ran downstairs.

Stan walked in, sipping on a cup of coffee. Pacifica looked at Dipper, who shrugged. Pacifica rolled her eyes and followed Mabel.

They heard a crashing sound. "MABEL PINES!" Ford yelled, walking after her.

"You like her," Stan said.

"Who, Mabel? I have to, she's my sister-"

Stan rolled his eyes. "You like Pacifica," Stan said. "You like Pacifica a lot."

"Yeah, she's my friend," Dipper said, looking anywhere but Stan.

Stan sighed. "I know that look that you give Pacifica. You give her the look I used to give my ex-wife. Before she left me and when I still loved her."

"That's nice," Dipper said.

"That look is the look of... well, you know," Stan said.

Dipper gagged. "I'm gonna go find a room," he said.

"Uh-huh," Stan said.

Dipper walked to the stairs. "Bye, Grunkle Stan!" He walked downstairs.

Stan sighed. "These darn kids and their feelings," he said, then took another sup of coffee.
