Staring Over

Chapter 10: The City of Love

Pacifica and Dipper had been denying their feelings for the few weeks it took to get to Paris. Ford, Stan, and Mabel were getting annoyed by it at that point. It had been weeks since "The Chicken Noodle Incident" and they wouldn't even look at each other anymore. So, Mabel, Ford, and Stan were hoping-no, praying that they would start talking to each other when they got to Paris.

Meanwhile, all Pacifica could think about was how she had gotten into a fight with Dipper over chicken noodle soup. She found it incredibly embarrassing and hoped it didn't make anyone think any lesser of her. She was also worried that saying she didn't have feelings for Dipper (even though she definitely did) didn't ruin their relationship, since he hadn't talked to her in weeks.

All Dipper could think about was if Pacifica hated him for saying that he didn't have feelings for her (even though he definitely did). He was worried that she hadn't talked to him in weeks because of it, and was hoping it didn't ruin their relationship. He really liked talking to her and was upset that she hadn't talked to him.

So the day that they got to Paris, Pacifica and Dipper had the exact same goal: To talk to each other.

"STANELY!" Ford yelled.

"What?!" Stan asked, driving a car through the streets of Paris.

"You almost hit a pedestrian!" Ford said.

"Would you rather I have hit the pedestrian?!"

"NO!" Ford yelled. "THE WHOLE POINT IS TO NOT HIT PEOPLE!"

"Why is that person walking in the middle of the street?" Stan asked.

"IT'S A CROSS WALK STANELY!" Ford yelled.

Pacifica, Dipper, and Mabel laughed. They were bunched up in the backseat of a small car that Stan was bound to destroy before the end of the trip... if he didn't destroy their lives first.

"So, what's the agenda?" Dipper asked.

"Well, we're having two days of sightseeing, so we're gonna go to the Eiffel Tower, Louvre Museum, Notre-Dame, and the Palace of Versailles," Ford said. "After that, we're going supernatural hunting."

"BOOOOOOOOORING!" Mabel yelled. "Why dont' we just go sightseeing for the entire thing and then just lie to U-of-O?"

"Because the Pines family are a lot of things, but we aren't liars," Ford said.

Everyone then looked at Stan.

"Most of us are not liars. There is a bad batch-STANELY IF YOU ALMOST HIT ONE MORE PERSON I WILL KILL YOU!"

"And that's the first threaten of murder on this trip," Dipper said, grabbing a notebook and putting a tally mark down.

Pacifica started laughing. Dipper glanced at her and she instantly stopped laughing. They both sighed and Pacifica looked out the window as Dipper looked down at his notebook. Mabel, who was in the middle, rolled her eyes.

Pacifica's room was a nice size, with a small TV, a bed, a mini fridge, and a bathroom. Her room was right next to Dipper's, much to her dismay. The walls were thin, and she could hear just about everything that he did. In fact, she was hearing him on the phone with Wendy right now.

At first, she had thought that he was being a supportive friend after a break up, but that had been months ago. Now it seemed like they were perhaps going from just friends to more than, and she was getting jealous. She knew that she shouldn't but she couldn't help it. It seemed like every time she was ready to start talking to Dipper, he was talking to Wendy.

"Wendy, when's your next doctor's appointment?" Pacifica heard Dipper ask.

Pacifica froze.

"In a few days," she heard Wendy say over the phone.

Pacifica rolled her eyes. Why wasn't she surprised that Dipper talked on speaker phone? Or were they facetiming? She wasn't sure. She crept close to the wall to overhear some more.

"How big is the bump?" Dipper asked.

"Here, I'll show you," Wendy said.

Pacifica covered her mouth and gaspedWendy'spregnant

"It's getting so big!" Dipper said.

"I know," Wendy said. "I can't wait til we can find out the gender."

We can find out the gender.

We.

Wendy was pregnant with Dipper's baby. They had sex, probably right after Wendy had broken up with Peter, and now Wendy was pregnant. Dipper was about to become a dad.

Pacifica looked at the floor, tears in her eyes. Of course he didn't have feelings for her. She had been thinking that maybe he had lied, like she did. But no, of course not, because he was about to be a dad. That was why he had been talking to Wendy so much in the last few weeks, especially after their fight. Everything made so much sense now.

She went into her bathroom, closed the door, turned on the fan, and started crying.

She never had a chance with him.

Meanwhile, Dipper was finishing his FaceTime with Wendy.

"So... how's Pacifica?" Wendy asked.

Dipper sighed. "She hasn't talked to me in a while."

"Well why don't you talk to her?"

"Because I don't think that she wants to talk to me."

Wendy rolled her eyes. "You don't at all think that maybe Pacifica is worried that you don't want to talk to her and that's why she's not talking to you?"

Dipper paused. "I never thought about it like that."

"So now what are you gonna do?"

Dipper sighed. "Go talk to her."

"Good job, buddy," she said.

"Bye, Wendy."

"Bye Dipstick," she said and hung up.

Dipper smiled. He was glad that Wendy was starting to feel better about her pregnancy and the fact that the baby was Peter's. But he was still upset that she was trying to push him to talk to Pacifica. Why was it his job to talk to her first?

He stood up, stretching. He was glad to be off that boat, and was glad to have a more comfortable bed for a few weeks. He looked over at the shared wall he had with Pacifica. He sighed, then walked out of his room to go talk to her.

He was about to knock on her door when he heard her crying. He knocked on the door quickly. "Pacifica?"

He heard her rush over to the door and open it quickly. She put on a fake smile. "Hey, Dipper!"

He pushed past her into her room. The room was covered in used tissues. On her bed she had two tissues boxes and she had "Titanic" on in the background.

"What is going on?"

"Nothing!" Pacifica said, quickly picking up the tissues and throwing them away. She then ran towards the bed, flopped down on it, and turned off the TV. "So what's up?"

"What's up?" Dipper asked. "What's up with you?! You're watching "Titanic", and you're crying for some reason-"

"What's wrong with me watching the cinematic classic called "Titanic", Dipper?"

"You told me you don't like the movie!" Dipper said. "You know, back when you talked to me!"

Pacifica scoffed. "When I talked to you?! You haven't talked to me in weeks, ever since I was sick! Of course, now I get it, hearing your phone call with Wendy!"

"What? What do you get?" Dipper asked, ignoring the fact that she listened to the phone call.

"That Wendy is pregnant with your baby!" Pacifica said.

Dipper paused, then started laughing. Pacifica scowled.

"What is so funny?" she asked.

"Wendy isn't pregnant with my baby," he said. He then turned serious. "She's pregnant with Peter's."

Pacifica stared at him. "Then why did she say that she was so excited for you guys to find out the gender?"

"Because I'm the only one who knows," he said. "Well, not anymore."

Pacifica paused. "So if you're not about to become a dad, then why the hell didn't you talk to me in these last couple of weeks?!"

"Why haven't you?!"

"Because I thought that you didn't want to talk to me!"

"But I do!"

"Well I wanna talk to you so that better not be the reason why you didn't talk to me!"

"Well it is!"

"Well then obviously if we both wanna talk to each other, then why aren't we anymore?!"

Dipper paused. "I don't know."

"Why did everything get so awkward between us after that fight?" Pacifica said. "I mean, it's not like you have feelings for me, since you specifically said that you didn't-"

"I lied," Dipper said, then froze.

I wasn't supposed to tell her that. Oh, no, why did I tell her that?!

"You lied?" Pacifica asked, looking at the floor.

Dipper sighed. "Yeah, I did."

Pacifica paused, processing her thoughts. Dipper turned to leave, worrying that he had messed everything up again.

"I lied, too."

Dipper turned around to look at Pacifica, who was now looking straight at him.

"You did, too?"

Pacifica nodded.

"So..."

"So what?"

"Well, I mean, what do we do now?"

"Well, I mean, I would recommend you... oh, I don't know, asking me out for a date or something," she said, smirking.

Dipper smiled. "Pacifica Elise Northwest, will you go on a date with me?"

Pacifica ran up to him and kissed him. He kissed back, putting his hand on her waist.

"So is that a yes?" Dipper asked.

Pacifica rolled her eyes and kissed him again.

A/N: Sorry it's been so long since the last chapter. I moved and then started at a brand new school and I'm using my personal computer and accidentally deleted about half of the first draft of this so I'm very, very sorry. Anyways, hope you guys like it! If you like any of my other stories that are in progress right now, the next chapter should be out soon!
