Chapter fourteen:

"Why are you here? Where are we?"

"The loading screen." Chara explains to a confused Frisk. "This is where those with a special magic come when they die. Where they can decide what to do. There is the option to just become a ghost or just move on."

"I'm dead?" Frisk gets a nod of confirmation then looks down. She comes to think of something and looks up. "Are you dead?"

"Sadly yes." Chara sighs softly. "I became a ghost and you fell on me. I became attached to you. You were able to use my abilities. Along with the ability to save as you want." She realizes Frisk would like her story. "You see I came to the underground by falling when bullies pushed me down a hole. I was left there to die. I managed to use the walls to stand up. I walked along them until Asriel, the king and queens son, found me. He helped me to the castle. They healed me and because I had neglectful parents on the surface, they adopted me. As I didn't want to even try to go back. Asgore and Toriel treated me so much better than my birth parents. I wanted to break the barrier for them for so long. Then me and Asriel used certain flowers on a salad we had Asgore try." She closes her eyes softly sighing to herself though talks so Frisk can hear her. "He fell ill because the flowers couldn't be eaten. I wanted to break the barrier for awhile. I knew a monster soul and a human soul were needed to do so. So I told Asriel my plan. He didn't like it at first because I was going to die so he can have my soul. Then he'd find the dead or criminals and take their souls. Too go back to break the barrier. I snuck the flowers into my food only. Asriel made sure to sneak them into whatever he could. So I wouldn't get better. We told no one at the time. Though I wish I had. When I died Asriel took my soul and body then crossed the barrier. He called for peace when humans saw him. He told them that he just wanted to bury his sister. No one believed him." She opens her eyes looking upon Frisk who has saddened eyes. "He was attacked. He didn't fight back insisting he wasn't there to harm him. They kept going until they forced him to retreat. He died with my body next to him on the floor of the throne room. I became free from him and one day as ghosts we were separated. I don't know what happened. He was just gone." She finishes her story of how she had died. "This isn't about my past though... You mustn't give in Frisk." She continues as Frisk blinks sympathetically at her. "The human souls need you. And so do all the monsters he's taken hostage in those vines. Only you can stop him."

"But how? How can I defeat such an enemy?" Frisk turns glancing away with a slightly ashamed look on her face. "I'm nothing more than a weak human. I can't win against that thing. It's too powerful."

"Yes you can. I know you can." Chara moves forward taking steps in midair. She stops walking a little closer to Frisk herself. "Frisk. You came to the underground for a reason. For your brothers revenge. You already took one monster down. You were prepared to kill them all." She sees Frisk close her eyes tightly as if remembering she killed making assumptions. "Your determination will help you. And so will the magic you had gained." She claps her hands together in front of herself gaining Frisks attention. She moves her hands open and as she does so a rectangle forms.

It's a orange rectangle line with orange line lettering in the middle. The letters spelling out Load.

Frisk gazed at the button then looks to Chara, who is still hovering her hands by the sides of the button. She sees the other girl smile encouragingly to her.

"If you let them the options will appear. This is the important one. Load back to your last save."

"I can save them before Flowey grabs them."

Chara frowns. "I guess you didn't notice. The magic caused you to be saved after Flowey had transformed." She sees the look of disappointment on her face. "However you can still win this. You have a soul of determination. Please, save everyone. Save your brother." She adds hoping to get through to the other female in front of her. Her desperation not hidden at all as her gaze seems to be begging for Frisk to help.

Frisks eyes look from one of Charas eyes to the next then back again. She closers her eyes and takes a breath before opening them again. She reaches out towards the button, and though she hesitates a moment she pushes it.

A flash of light blinds her for a moment and she finds herself back with omega Flowey.

"So you have returned. Don't worry. I'll keep killing you until you give up." Flowey tells her then swings one of his hands at her.

Frisk dashes forward to try to slash at Flowey. She hits him then she swears for a moment she senses something familiar.

Like someone reaching out for her.

Frisk has an idea of who it is. She closes her eyes and focuses on it. She feels things shift underneath her feet. She opens her eyes when it has stopped and finds herself standing in a black room.

A figure appears in front of her all too familiar.

"Brother!" Frisk gasps happily and hurries closer as he turns to her.

"I helped cause this." Frisks brother tells her. He shifts his messily cut short brown hair a little so some is behind his ear. His action shows his sad green eyes more. He is wearing his favorite black shirt with a grey full moon on it, jeans, and blue runners. "If I hadn't gone to the mountain maybe none of this would have happened."

"It's not your fault." Frisk reaches out and pulls her shorter little brother in for a hug. "You didn't know this was going to happen."

"But Toriel was so nice to me. I just wanted to get back to you though. And hearing about this Asgore from Toriel... I was scared that any monster leaping out was this Asgore. I died and I failed to get back to you." Frisks brother begins to sob a little as he buried his face into his sisters chest. "Now Floweys using my strength to hurt you."

"Hey. Anthony." Frisks voice is soft and caring. She moves one hand to stroke his hair soothingly. "It's okay. Sometimes things happen. Look at it this way though. You may not have a body but your soul is still alive. We're together again my dear brother. I need your help, okay? Lets do this together. Like how we like to do things."

Anthony looks to his sister and nods his head. "Okay Frisk." He agrees and shares a sibling hug with her.

The two pull apart after a moment.

"I think I can get the other human souls to help you out as well. We were able to talk through our soul auras while we were in those containers. I know them." Anthony informs Frisk with a small smile now on his face.

"Are you sure?" Frisk questions in which her brother nods to her. "Okay. I believe in you." She shares another hug with her dear brother.

"Connect with me again. I should then have all the human souls with us. I can introduce you to them. Our connection is fading. He's fighting it. I'll see you again soon."

With that things fade to black and Frisks blinks her eyes open standing by the giant enemy.

Frisk is suddenly knocked away by him and skids a little on the ground.

"What was that!?" Flowey demands shouting making Frisk cover her ears, since it's so loud. "I was frozen! What did you do!?" He demands to Frisk and sends thorn attacks flying at Frisk in his confused anger.

Frisk scrambles to her feet and runs around dodging the attack. She tries to get closer to Flowey again. She is however forced to retreat from this when Flowey sends vines to strike her. She does manage to dodge the vines and looks around trying to find a way. She has to get back to her brother. She just has to figure out how since Flowey won't let her come close. She slashed at a thick vine he swings at her managing to slice it, stopping it from hitting her. She dashes to the side as thorn attacks are sent at her. She then quickly changes direction almost falling as she hurries towards him. She reaches out like before searching for a signal. She continues to do so as she gets closer and closer. She winced at some thorns hitting her though she presses on. She can do this. She just has to remember her brother is waiting for her. She gets close enough and makes a connection with her brother. She is pulled into the space where she saw her brother.

This time two figures appear, Anthony and a little girl in a pink sundress.

The little girl looks to be maybe nine years old at most. She is a bit on the shorter side. She has shoulder length brown hair, sad green eyes, tanned skin, her pink knee length summer dress, a pink backpack in her left hand, and pink ballet flat shoes on with a single strap across her foot.

Anthony turns to his sister. "I can only bring in one at a time." He tells her a little worried he isn't holding up his end of their agreement.

"It's okay." Frisk assures him with a smile. She then turns her attention to the little girl. "Who is this?"

Anthony relaxes and turns his attention to the little girl. "Her name is Constance." He introduces the girl who looks up more at the mention of her name. He smiles to her. "It's okay. This is my big sister."

Constance blinks and turns to Frisk upon hearing this. "It's nice to meet you." A sweet as candy soft voice speaks in greeting.

"It's nice to meet you too." Frisk smiles to her glad to see her relax. "Say. Can you help us?"

"He's using my energy. How could I end up helping you?" Constance questions shaking her head. "I'm not very helpful... I figured that out pretty quickly." She mentions glancing away.

Frisk frowns in concern and crouches by the little girl. "You can help us. I know you can. You just gotta fight him." She tilts her head to try to make eye contact.

"I'm too weak!" Constance sighs heavily her shoulders visibly rising then falling. "I was once friends with this little bear monster. I thought I left him back in Snowdin. I just wanted to get back home. However he found me and we played a bit longer. Plus I was really lost. A monster attacked us and I tried to defend my friend." Her head hangs. "But I got knocked down. I ran after my friend blocked the monsters path. He quietly told me to go to the other side of the waterfall. I grabbed my lucky tutu from my bag. I went behind it and I fell. I hit my head on a big rock and suddenly I was out of my body." She sniffles in which Frisk stands up and moves closer hugging her close. "I couldn't help my friend. Then I let his efforts to help me be for nothing." She sobs as Frisk keeps her held close. "When I was found they put me in that container. Taking my body elsewhere."

"It's okay." Frisk tries to assure the other and gently pets the little girls hair. "I'm sure your friend would be happy to see you again. You just gotta fight against Flowey. Don't let him win. Then I'll make sure my science friends make you a body. And you can see your friend again."

Constance turns and softly blinks at Frisk. "You mean I can see him again?" She questions and receives a nod in response. She glances down in thought as though wondering if it's true.

"My big sis really means it." Anthony mentions in which Constance turns to him. "We can make it through this. We can see others again. We need to believe in ourselves and fight this bad monster. I believe in us. All of us to be able to do this." He smiles to Constance with belief and honesty. "When this is all over we'll make sure you get to see your friend again." He puts an arm around her keeping their eyes together. "I know how much he means to you. Especially since you had no friends back on the surface. Maybe after this is all over your friend will convince his family to adopt you from the orphanage. We won't know unless we fight against Flowey. Make a stand for a better future than being stuck like this."

Constance closes her eyes then opens them looking to Frisk ready for this. "Okay. I'll do it. For my friends. Human and monster."

Frisk is glad to hear this then lets the connection go. She finds herself back with Flowey in which she leaps away from a vine. She just needs to do this a few more times. Then she should be able to stop this monster. She charges again raising her knife to attack.

Sans finds the way the vines are wrapped around him, cause him to be unable of looking away. He watches as Frisk slashes and dodges the attacks. He winces when her left arm is cut when it's almost grabbed by a thorny vine. He closes his eye trying to push away the memories of his attack. He can do this. He has to support Frisk in anyway he can.

She's his friend.

Sans opens his eye and slightly glances to the others that he can see at least. His friends... He has such a good support from all of them. He looks away thinking to the other dog monsters. He was once okay with chatting them up until that dreadful day. He feels guilty for becoming scared of them after the attack.

They didn't do anything wrong.

Sans looks back to Frisk just as she is knocked back by Flowey. He tries to summon some magic, however Flowey must have enough power to block it. He can't get anything to work. He feels helpless, powerless, and upset. He wants to help. He doesn't want... Frisk to end up like him...
