Chapter 1

My name is Harry.

Harry Potter.

Although I can tell you my name I can't tell you where I live.

You'll just have to trust me that it's a real place, a real town.

Who knows, it might even be your town.

I'm writing this all down so that the wizarding world, and maybe the entire human race will stand a chance until someday, when the Andalites return, as they promised they would.

Life was prety normal for me.

Normal, that is, until one Friday night in Diagon Alley.

I was there with Ron, my best friend.

We were hanging out in a shop similar to a Muggle gaming arcade, except that a lot of things from the wizarding world were included in these games.

I kept losing at the games.

Ron has this ability to analyze games, and figure out all the little tricks.

Maybe it's because I don't get much practice.

After I'd lost for the hundredth time, we decided to leave.

We were just out of the shop when we ran into Neville.

He was, well, I guess he still is, kind of a strange guy.

I actually met Neville when he was being pinned against the wall by some bullies who were repeatedly casting curses and jinxes at him.

I petrified them, and dragged them off to Assistant Principal Snape's office.

I got detention for using magic in the hallway, but it was worth it.

Ever since then, Neville has thought of me as kind of a friend.

"You guys going home?" He asked.

"Yeah. Out of knuts." Ron said. "Certain people keep forgetting that the Werewolf pack shows up just after you cross the Vampire Valley. So certain people keep losing the game and losing our money."

"Can I walk home with you guys?"

"Sure."

We left Diagon Alley.

We were just at the entrance when we ran into Hermione and Ginny.

Hermione is one of the smartest people in our class. And just about everybody knows that Ron likes Hermione.

Ginny is nice, and sometimes quiet.

Sometimes we sit together on the bus or at lunch.

Even though I never know what to say to her.

I guess you could say I like Ginny.

You know, as in LIKE.

Oh, and she's Ron's sister.

"You guys going home? You probably shouldn't cut through Knockturn Alley by yourselves. You know, being girls and all." Ron said.

"Oh yeah? And you're going to protect us just because you're a man? Just because you think that—"

"I'd appreciate if they did walk home with us. I know you're not afraid, Hermione, but I guess I am."

That stopped Hermione.

That's Ginny for you.

She always has the right words to end any argument without making anybody feel bad. It's like she understands everything on some deeper, more mystical level.

So there we were, the five of us.

Five normal kids heading home through Knockturn Alley.

Knockturn Alley was an abandoned alley that was rumored to have once been a place where many dark items had been sold.

They say that some Dark Wizards are still lurking around, waiting to snatch up children.

I was so distracted that I didn't notice it until Neville said, "Whoa! Look up, guys!"

I did.

And that's when I saw it.

I didn't know what it was.

Maybe a muggle airplane.

We all knew that it was an alien ship.

It landed and the Andalite inside told us about the Yeerks. We got the power to morph.

And then the Yeerks came.

said the Andalite.

We left to hide.

We watched as some humanoid creatures came out.

Then the centepede-like Taxxons came out of the ship.

Then the Andalite-Controller came out.

His thought-speak voice was in our heads.

He went to examine him and his ship more closely.

Prince Albus didn't answer, but I got the feeling it was more than eight.

Then, he continued, but not to the Andalite,

I was surprised to see Assistant Principal Snape step forward.

He pointed a wand at the Andalite and said, "Avada Kedavra!"

A jet of green light hit the Andalite, and Prince Albus-Dumbledore-Hogwarts died.

I began to run.

I was in a building.

I saw Snape and a Half-Giant-Controller searching the area.

"Me have to capture or kill?" The Half-Giant asked.

"Kill," Snape said. "We shall save the head for identification."

I ran home.

I desperately hoped this was all a dream.
