Chapter sixteen:

There before her is a white goat monster. He has the same dress as Toriel only black and white, a heart necklace with gold heart plus rainbow beads on either side, curved horns on his head, narrow white eyeball with black for the rest of the eye, a neck part that is black with white edges that reminds Frisk of old vampires, sharp teeth, and two side by side black stripes on either side of his face, going from a little below the edges of his eye down to the side of his face. He chuckles as Frisk glances to her friends for any type of help... Only to realize they aren't there anymore.

Frisk feels her heart pound as she quickly turns back to this new being.

"I absorbed every monsters soul." The being tells her sounding like a true god like deity. His voice echoing as if he speaks from the heavens. He looks to his hands then he clenched them grinning widely. "I haven't even reached my final form. I am holding some power back." He looks to Frisk still grinning. "Be prepared to battle. If you somehow survive this then I'll show you my true form." He summons a longer version of a Gaster blaster. "For I am Asriel Dreemurr!" He then uses his weapon to shoots a rainbow beam.

Frisk feels shock upon hearing the name. She remembers the mention of Asriel from Chara. She doesn't get a chance to think much as the attack comes. She runs away from it and stops when the beam stops. She has found that she has more trouble moving now. She swears that it feels as though the air is so thick with power from Asriel, that it's making it hard to move. She hopes that she can end this quickly. She worries about becoming too tired from having to push harder just to move. She doesn't want to end up vulnerable if she can help it. She jumps side to side as rainbow bolts of electricity attempt to strike her. She tries to hold onto her hope and determination that she'll make it through. She can't let herself lose hope. She spots him use another blaster this time it shoots a bunch of white blocks. She weaves around them getting hit by a few. She curls up making herself smaller as stars come flying down at her. She gets up feeling her body ache a bit. She slashed at Asriel who moves out of the way with a trail of rainbow behind him.

Asriel shoots the rainbow beam at Frisk once more. He then pulls out two swords and slashes them, one at a time on either side, at Frisk who backs up. "You can't run away forever!" He tells her laughing. He swings the one sword hitting her arm.

Frisk flies towards the ground hitting it hard. She feels the wind get knocked right out of her own body. She shifts to get up falling back down with a gasp of pain. She had tried to use her injured arm though it was too painful. She looks to her arm seeing the bad wound. She turns as giant stars fall towards her. Has she failed? She closes her eyes tightly. No. She can't think like that. She finds darkness come though she refuses to let this be the end. Her soul matches her on that and refuses to let them die. She regains vision to where she was before. She gets up in a hurry staring at Asriel. She can't lose herself. She can't lose this hope to get those she cares for back, and this determination to win this battle against her true opponent.

"Even after that you refuse to die?" Asriel questions her only to chuckle. "Oh you fool. I'll just keep killing you and killing you. For I am too powerful for you this time. And none of your human souls will be there to help. I buried them further down. This time." He moves as Frisk slashes at him. "So you won't find them." He sends a rainbow blast then a blast of white cubes.

Frisk is knocked to the ground as some of the white cubes hit her legs. She gets up as quickly as she can. She is Frisk and she is strong. She will continue to believe in it. For she knows it's who she is. She charges for him again. She still misses her attack and she pants as the force to move is tiring. She yelps as a rainbow beam hits her. Her legs become wobbly, and darkness creeps into the edges of her vision. She pushes through it and tries to move away from the giant stars. She is too slow and she finds herself dead again. She refuses this once again and just like before is brought back to where she had died. She tries to slash against Asriel finding that she is having even more troubles moving. She figures that it must mean that whenever she dies it'll get worse.

Asriel uses some fire balls like Toriel and Frisk moves dodging all of them. He then swings the swords at her so she jumps away, almost getting hit by a fireball when she lands. He knows that if she had been just a little further back she would have been hit.

Frisk feels her heart pound in her chest as this is really getting scary.

"You've done so well so far." Asriel tells her. "But lets see if you can survive this!" He suddenly creates a swirling correct pulling in all sorts of attacks; that fly around Frisk.

Frisk moves to dodge them as best as she can though is struck by some. She finds that they are just so wild that it's hard to even know where to go to dodge. She just keeps running this way and that way to try to not get hit too much. She almost collapses once it's over though barely remains standing.

Asriel stares at her not so pleased that she's still alive, even though she is very low on health. "Humph. Do you survived that. Well then. I guess it's time to step things up." He narrows his eyes as Frisk quickly eats some more food for health. "Time for my ultimate form!" He chuckles and is suddenly surrounded by dark magic. He bursts through a few moments later in a new more terrifying form to Frisk. He now has his torso that goes down to a point, where his chest is there is a heart with white outside with black inside, inside the heart appears to be an outlined in white beating soul, black collar that sticks out on either side, two arms with white gloves that has a heart that has its inside black, with an eye darting around in the hearts on the arms, longer slightly curved horns, long floppy ears that curl inward at the end, the fame face as last time though a huge toothy grin is there now, and large demon looking wings that goes through the colours of the rainbow as it shimmers.

Frisk tries to take a step back however she can't get her body to move to do so. She feels her soul pound so she tries reaching out for her brother... Only to find no signal back. She does manage to close her eyes as he blasts her with a rainbow blast from his hands. She opens them when it stops and she's lower on health. She tries to think of what to do when she sees Asriel summon a bunch of swords. She can see them shimmering like his wings do. She just shuts her eyes tightly and takes the hit... Causing it to kill her... She finds herself pausing before she would be taken to load again. She refuses to let it end this way. She has come too far to just fall into death now. She blinks in surprise as her soul puts itself back together. She is allowed back to where she was. She looks up to the monster who has clearly gone insane. She has to stop him. She can't turn back now.

It can't get any worse than this.

Frisk takes the hit as he sends out another rainbow blast. She concentrates hard and searches for her brothers soul signal. She doesn't find it though she swears she almost connected to another. She doesn't know who however there is someone there. She gets hit again this time by Asriels claws. Causing her to die once more... However her soul refused again so she is back before she knows it. "Stop this!" She tries to call out though Asriel chuckles at her. "You don't have to do this! I'm sorry if you felt hurt or angry. This is not the way to go about things!"

"You know nothing!" Asriel tells her and glares at her before he becomes more joyful. "You'll give up eventually. I'll just keep killing you until then. Your little human friends can't stop me this time!" He lets out a loud evil laugh.

Frisk feels beyond hopeless about helping Asriel if he really isn't going to listen. Also she may not be able to reach her brother, or stop Asriel with words, so she might as well reach whoever else she can. She gasps in pain as the swords attack her cutting her body. She just makes pained noises as she takes it. She can't really do much else. Once the attack is done she opens her eyes, and focuses on the signal she had gotten last time. She gasps as she makes the connection. She finds herself in the same place that she found her brother.

This time standing there is Toriel with her eyes having a white jumble of scribbles; blocking her eyes completely. She has a somber frown on her face as though she has given up.

"Toriel!" Frisk calls out reaching for her as she is finally able to move.

"It's over. Just accept defeat. There is nothing that we can do to stop him."

Frisk hugs Toriel. "Don't give up hope!" She pleads with the first monster who was so kind to her. "We can beat this!" She sees that Toriel still seems a bit out of it. She takes a breath and decides to try reminding Toriel of things. Maybe she can get her back to normal. "Remember when I first fell? And I was so scared I pulled my weapon on you? But you calmed me down and took care of me anyways?" She sighs softly at the memory. "You were so kind to me and so willing to give me a chance. Despite that I planned to take out monsters because I thought they killed my brother. And that they were evil." She decides to change to happier topic. "You let me sleep in the bed. And have some slices of pie. Don't you remember that? You put it in the room while I was sleeping."

"F-Frisk?" Toriel barely manages to stammer out in which Frisk nods.

"Yes! It's me! I'm here!" Frisk feels happy seeing the scribbles disappear.

"Frisk!" Toriel hugs Frisk picking her up a little as she hugs her back. "Thank you for bringing me back." She lets the human move back so they can look into each other's eyes. In her eyes she has a true faith showing just for Frisk. "You have to defeat him. And I'll do whatever I can to help you."

"Thank you." Frisk mentions and they lean their foreheads against each other; their eyes close. She feels her health become healed, she is sure it's thanks to Toriel, and her wounds are healed. She feels Toriel disappear and she opens her eyes back unable to move. She looks to Asriel who sends blasts at her. She takes it then when she's low on health, just glad she survived it, she reaches out for another of the monsters. She guesses she'll just have to save certain monsters. She just has an instinct that it'll be enough. She makes a connection making her sigh in relief.

Now the ones in front of her are Alphys and Undyne. They have the same scribbles that Toriel happened to have.

"It's h-hopeless. There is n-nothing that we c-can do." Alphys stammers making Frisk want to approach when Undyne speaks.

"I wasn't strong enough..."

Frisk glances to Alphys then Undyne trying to decide who to save first. She may not have gotten to know them like some of the others. Though she can still hopefully save them. She needs all the help she can get. "Undyne." She moves closer to Undyne deciding to start with her.

"Just surrender yourself to his might." Undyne suggests though Frisk shakes her head.

"We are stronger together." Frisk tries to plead with Undyne. "We may not have gotten to know each other all that much. But I would like to start on that. And I can't if we just give in." She pulls out her knife seeing Undyne pause upon seeing it. Her soul warms with hope that she will get through to her. She pretends to lunge then backs up. "Toriel already agreed to help. I need you too." She tries to show Undyne the knife hoping that maybe it'll spark a memory in her. She then also tries to stand how she was when she entered the barrier room. She then tries to show her soul placing it where her brothers soul was. She is hoping just something familiar will jog her memory. She doesn't really have much history to go with.

Undyne gasps and the scribbles fade. "That's right! You and Toriel suddenly came into the barrier room. Before it all started. When we were going to use the machine to break open the barrier." She smiles at Frisk showing off her sharp teeth. "Well you sure have guts trying to save someone you don't know all that well." She turns noticing Alphys as Frisk turns as well. Her gaze loving, caring and longing to have her Alphys back. "We have to save her."

Frisk nods then heads over to a droopy Alphys with Undyne. "Alphys! It's us. Undyne and Frisk." She tries then a hand comes to her shoulder. She turns to see Undyne who gives her a smile of confidence.

Undyne moves her hand and moves closer to Alphys. "Hey! Alphys!" She slightly calls to Alphys who turns to her a little. "Come on snap out of it! I know you can do it!" She tells the yellow monster. "We're going to watch those awesome shows on the surface. Together." She turns after Frisk nudges her. She blushes a little then turns back to Alphys. "And... I love you Alphys."

"U-Undyne!" Alphys covers her mouth with a slight squeal. She blinks as the scribbles fade. She lowers her hands as her mind becomes distracted. "Everything s-seems to be h-happening so fast." Her eyes are worried and a little fearful, though there is a spark that shows she hasn't lost all of the fight in her.

"But you're not alone." Undyne mentions patting Alphys on the back. She grins as Alphys shyly smiles to her.

"I'm just glad you two were able to break free." Frisk mentions bringing their attention to her. "I need you two to resist him. I still have to go and save the others."

"Don't worry you little punk were on your side here." Undyne shares a smile with Frisk. "You know. I think I'll like being friends with you. You've got some confident there. Go and get him."

"B-Before you go t-though." Alphas reaches over to Frisk placing a hand on her shoulder. She makes sure that Frisk is at full health again. Then releasing her. "G-Good luck."

"We're rooting for ya!" Undyne adds then things fade away.

Frisk looks to Asriel with a smile truly feeling more confident than before.

Asriel swipes some large claws at Frisk hoping to hurt her even more.

Frisk finds enough movement to slightly lean out of the way. She is still hit and scratched though it doesn't do as much damage. She straightens and sees the beam powering up. She reaches for another signal knowing that she will not be able to withstand that; at least without healing. She makes a connection and blinks as she sees Asgore. She approaches him looking to where the scribbles are.

"I have failed. I have failed my subjects. I have failed everyone. I even failed my family." Asgore mutters truly sounding defeated.

"Don't give up just yet. We can still fix this." Frisk tells Asgore who sighs heavily. She stares at him remembering how Toriel spoke about him. "Toriel was angry yes. And she warned me you were dangerous. But as I looked at her I could see the sadness and longing. She still loves you even if she tries to deny it. And she's willing to fight." She moves forward and places a hand on his lower arm.

He's much too big for her to put her hand higher up.

"She gave me a piece of pie. It has both cinnamon and butterscotch. It was really good. I bet she still has more. Maybe we can share it together one day."

"Pie?" Asgore perks up a little and Frisk nods.

"Yeah. Toriels pie. And I wouldn't mind getting to know you better." Frisk admits offering the giant monster a smile. She goes through her head what else she can say. She wants to be hopefully able to get him saved quickly. She only knows so much about him, so she doesn't want to run into a problem. "Please. Break free. Your subjects and everyone else needs you to do so. I need you to help me fight this thing. I can't win on my own. After this is done we can break the barrier. I won't back down on that promise." She stares at him hopeful that something is clicking in his mind. "You are the king of monsters. Their leader. You are stronger than he is. And you know it. Deep down inside."

"My subjects... My subjects need me! There is danger!" Asgore slightly gasps and the scribbles fade away. He blinks and turns to Frisk who lets out a sigh of relief. "Frisk! Thank you so much for snapping me back to reality." He reaches out to place a hand on her shoulder, to make sure that she understands how grateful he is. His eyes gaze with worry when she flinches from his touch. "Here. Let me help you." He shares healing magic with her. He sees her clearly show relief from the pain.

Frisks shoulders drop as they were tense from the pain. She is about to thank Asgore when her Hp is full however he speaks first. She doesn't mind it as she knows that she will soon probably be pulled away from this. And back to reality.

"I am on your side Frisk. And I will fight for you and all those who look up to me." Asgores eyes show the strong care he holds for all those that he rules over. He also shows care towards Frisk in his gaze as he has started seeing her as one of his own subjects.

"Thank you." Frisk nods her head thankfully and things go back to reality. She tries to move finding she can take a step though it is forced. She ducks causing a beam to barely miss her. She straightens and tries to reach out. Though as she concentrates she misses massive claws heading straight for her. She is slashed and takes a lot of damage. She knows that she is only standing because her legs are stiff. She desperately reaches out scared another attack is coming. She makes the connection as she notices Asriel prepare another attack. She blinks and spots Sans and Papyrus.

Both with the same scribbles as the others of course.

Frisk tries to decide who to move towards first. She listens as they speak.

"I wasn't strong enough. None of us were. He wins." Papyrus slightly mumbles though his words are spoken with clarity.

"Give up. We can never win. The only thing in life is to lose the fight and die. I should have died from that dog attack." Sans mentions and Frisk decides on Papyrus.

Frisk hopes that he will be able to help out with Sans. She may have helped him though Papyrus was there for him longer. She looks up to the tall skeleton who seems to stare back; despite the scribbles covering his eyes. "Papyrus. It's me Frisk." She begins as he remains quiet listening. "I know that things have gone wrong. And that they seem hopeless now. But it isn't. We have to keep fighting." She stares at him as they stand in silence for a moment. "Okay. Well Papyrus you have no idea how much I need your help." She breaks the silence while silently begging for any sort of reaction. "You took me in. You showed me kindness. You let me help your brother. Push him beyond his limits. Because you wanted him to be okay. Don't let all our efforts go to waste. Fight. If not for me then for your brother. Please. I don't think I can do this without you."

"Sans!" Papyrus gasps then as the scribbles fade he focuses better on Frisk. "Frisk!" He grabs her and hugs her relieved to see her. He adds healing magic when she flinches helping to bring back her HP.

Frisk returns the hug relaxing under the soothing healing magic. "I'm glad you're back."

"And I will fight for you and Sans." Papyrus promises then he puts her down as the hug comes to an end.

"Now. There is only one left to help." Frisk turns her attention to Sans as Papyrus follows her gaze.

"Let's go. He needs us." Papyrus takes the lead with Frisk following right behind him.

The two stop by Sans who doesn't seem to be able to focus on either of them.

"Just give up. I already did." Sans informs them and Frisk notices Papyrus look even more determined.

Papyrus shows it as his eyes show it by falling slightly closer though not closed much. "Now don't you talk like that Sans." He tells his brother with a stern tone yet rather gentle at the same time. "You've come so far to give up now. You were so scared and then you were helping at the lab. You've made so much progress. It'd be a true waste to throw it all away now."

"When we first met you had raced out there." Frisk reminds Sans taking over and Papyrus glances to her. "You tried to stop me and yes you did fall into a terrify episode, you still tried. And I understood why when I met your brother. You knew I was a threat and you were willing to go for those you care for. That is what I have found. Though Papyrus is right. You made progress. What would you gain for letting it go? Stop listening to whatever he is doing to set thoughts in your head. You know better. You know that you need to fight. For those you care about."

As Sans hesitates Papyrus decides to try again this time.

"After the incident I was so terrified that I was going to lose you." Papyrus tells his brother as tears come to his eyes at the memory. "Seeing you laying in that hospital bed unresponsive is the worst thing I have seen in my life. I felt like some all mighty force liked me because you came back to me. Don't leave me Sans. I don't want to lose you. I can't lose you. I don't know what I would do with my life if you weren't in it." He sees his brother slightly perk up. So he continues. "Don't give up. Fight. We can do it. Together."

Frisk nods her head. "And though life might be scary know that those that care about you will be there. We will help you through it. We will even be there when things go wrong. When you get sent back to what happened."

"As well as when you have nightmares. And you'll never be judged for having relapses in going back to that moment." Papyrus adds as well wanting to help the words get through to him.

"I'm not alone?" Sans brings up in which both Frisk and Papyrus shake their heads.

"No. You're not." Papyrus confirms.

"And there is no way we are going to let you be alone if you need someone. Even if we aren't with you we can be contacted. Plus if you want we can have a panic button made. Whatever will help you." Frisk smiles as the scribbles fade and Sans looks to her then Papyrus.

Sans closes his eye then he opens it as he turns to look to Frisk. His gaze shows his willingness to fight against this. That he wants a good life for himself and those he cares for. "I will help you out in any way that I can."

Frisk nods her thanks letting herself be taken away to reality. She jumps to avoid the slash of a sword finding movement is fluid again. She skids to a stop then from the corner of her eye she spots another sword. She takes the hit as she misjudged the distance. Her left arm gaining a cut on the upper arm area. She can feel the wetness of blood coming from there. She runs to the right to dodge another sword heading for her. She gasps as she finds large claws heading straight for her. She closes her eyes expecting a hit.

There is a sudden small ding and no pain.

Frisk opens her eyes seeing that flame balls have blocked the claw attack. She smiles softly to herself as the two attacks go away. She knows that it was Toriel who had done that.

"What in the world?" Asriel questions and tries to swing another claw attack her... Only to be blocked again.

This time by a bone chain wall that gets put up, only to fade like the attack it blocked.

Green spears appear and go to Frisk healing her.

Frisk lets out a breath at feeling the pain fade away. She opens her eyes she didn't realize that she had closed just a moment ago.

"How can you be doing this!?" Asriel demands as Frisk stares at him feeling her determination really burn within.

"Because you've underestimated them and me." Frisk finds a white version of Asgores trident appear in front of her. She takes it not taking any damage in doing so. She aims it at Asriel and manages to spin it, finding it light probably because it was a replica, to block a sword attack. She then slashes the pointed ends at the claw attack that follows. She runs to the left when Asriel fires a beam at her with a frustrated yell. She skids to a stop as the attack comes to a stop. She finds a thought cross her mind that stops her from charging Asriel to attack. She has saved the monsters she knows and is on the closer side of.

However what if there is someone else that needs her help.

Maybe even...

Frisk has to swing the trident to block a sword attack.

"Stop it!" Asriel tells her and uses shadow like magic to try to grab her when she charges. Though he sees her jump away. "I'm supposed to be powerful! I'm supposed to make a difference! And you can't stop me!" He tries to hold back tears as he slightly reaches out for Frisk.

Frisk moves when his hand suddenly shoots forward and tries to squish her. "Why try to run from the truth?" She questions. "You don't have to go down this path. Think back to how you were before." She notices more tears as it clearly becomes harder to hold them back.

"I was cheated out of everything!" Asriel protests. "I was weak! But not anymore. This time I won't mess up." He tries to push away his tears preparing to shoot a beam at Frisk. "I can do this. I can. I promise." He almost sounds as though he didn't mean those words for Frisk herself.

Frisk dashes for Asriel with the trident held in one hand to the side. She reaches her free hand towards him alongside her soul. Her mouth letting out a cry as though it'll help her in making the connection. "I know your story!"

Suddenly everything goes white.
