Chapter seventeen:

As Frisk regains her vision she is in a black room with a child standing before her.

The child has white fur, slightly long white ears that droop down, no shoes or socks, and a grey long sleeved shirt with a thick purple stripe in the middle. He looks to Frisk with light green eyes showing terror within them.

Frisk smiles to him. She is glad she was able to remember that maybe even Asriel needed help. "Hello." She greets knowing that there's no one else that this could be.

"Hi. It's nice to meet face to face properly." Little Asriel admits then glances down. "I've made quite a mess... Haven't I?"

"A bit." Frisk admits and blinks at him. "Do you mind if I ask what happened? I mean I know about Charas plan and all that. I just mean after."

Asriel nods his Head. "I am okay with that. After the whole thing was over I found myself a ghost. Then one day I was suddenly dragged away by something. I woke up blinking at Alphys. When I looked down at my hands as she seemed to be able to see me... I found leaves instead..." He looks down with a heavy sigh. "I managed to escape from Alphys and went out on my own. I actually had the ability to save and load thanks to my connection with Chara. So I could fix any of my mistakes." He turns back to Frisk. "I didn't expand on using it. Though I thought about. Then one day you stole that from me. I wanted it back. There was so much I was planning." He glances away once more as if feeling guilt. "I wanted to hurt monsters. Even though they hadn't done anything wrong." He closes his eyes with a sigh and continues with his eyes closed head down. "I was a true monster. I tried to get Sans to help me but he seemed uncertain. So when he failed me I just took power for myself. I didn't want to be weak anymore! I wanted to be strong and be able to just prove it. Something I felt I didn't get to do in life." He opens his eyes as Frisk suddenly hugs him.

"You are very strong." Frisk tells him gently as she just stands there holding him. "Just in ways that you can't see. You went along with Charas plan. You actually went through with it. And even though you were unfairly attacked, you didn't fight back. You were strong in picking peacefulness over violence. If only the humans then realized how strong you were for that. Maybe things would have turned out fine."

Asriel drops his head onto her shoulder as if her speech is really touching him.

"You may have lost sight of what made you strong. But you can still change that for the better. It is in there. I know it." Frisk blinks as she feels her shoulder becoming damp with tears. She turns to him as best as she can and feels him wrap his arms around her. She keeps him held close letting him cry for a bit in her arms. She is glad that he is opening up to her to let himself be vulnerable with her.

"I don't want this. I don't want to be like this anymore!" Asriel sobs to her and Frisk continues rubbing his back soothingly. "I was so horrible! The things I wanted to do were all so horrible! I hate myself for thinking like that."

"You're a wonderful monster. A true evil monster wouldn't care. They wouldn't be crying over what they wanted to do before." Frisk reminds him and continues to hold him as he gets the crying out of his system. Making her wonder just how long all of this had been pent up, by being locked away within him, for. She decides to push that away. So she can just focus on doing what she can for little Asriel. She needs to be able to help him because out of all the monsters in this fight, he is the one who needs to be saved the most. She is well aware that the only reason she was able to reach him, was because the monsters she helped snap back to reality weakened his defense enough. She will be grateful for this happening for a long while.

Once Asriel calms down he moves back. He blinks gratefully as Frisk just lets him go. "Thank you Frisk. You've shown me a new perspective on how things were in my life." He pauses and slightly glances up as though in thought. "The barrier still needs to be broken..." He lowers his head and meets with Frisks eyes. "I won't be able to bring myself back to life. However that doesn't mean that I don't have to let this go to waste. I can feel everyone so strongly. Their will, their hope, their fears, and so much more. It feels as though all our souls beat at the same time. Almost as if we are truly only one monster. I can break the barrier using their souls. Though when I do finish I'll release them. You won't see me again. I'll be sacrificing everything that is left of me to do this." He takes a breath as if that reminder really hits him that he'll be gone. "My old flower body is gone. Lost as I lost myself to the power and revenge."

"Will you be able to move on?" Frisk inquires truly hoping that he'll be able to rest in peace after all of this.

"I do believe so." Asriel nods his head once softly in confirmation. "I'll be able to let go of the past. Let go of my mistakes by making them right. I will no longer have the hold to the living world I once had. For I completed what I needed to do. What bound me to the living world when I was a ghost."

"I wish we got to know each other a bit better." Frisk admits feeling a slight sadness in her chest. "You would probably get along so well with my brother."

Asriel smiles to her a little saddened by this. "I'm sure we would have." He agrees with her and widens his smile a little. "Don't you worry just think of it as that I will be free of my regrets. My spirit can finally go to the proper afterlife. Wherever that may take me."

"I just feel like you shouldn't go alone." Frisk mentions softly and notices his eyes full with even more sadness. She has to remedy this part. She closes her eyes focusing on the image of Chara. Willing for her to come to where they are. Her concentration working hard. She doesn't think about her guess that Asriel is letting her do this, to see what happens.

"You are not going to go alone."

Frisk opens her eyes and turns to her left. She sees Chara standing next to her smiling at Asriel.

Asriel stares in shock at Chara before the two race towards each other.

The two embrace one another as the reunion almost brings tears to Frisk.

"I'm sorry." Chara sobs to Asriel as they continue to embrace. "I'm so sorry I talked you into the plan. That I led you to your own death."

"No. I should be the one that's sorry. I failed. I should have done better. Then you wouldn't have died for nothing." Asriel sobs back to her as the two cling to one another.

"But you wouldn't have been in that situation in the first place." Chara points out though seems to realize that they're both being stubborn. "Okay how about a compromise? Sibling to sibling." She suggests and they pull apart enough to look at each other properly. "We both made mistakes that lead to bad things happening."

"Okay. I can agree to that. I know that you won't back down." Asriel mentions causing Chara to laugh a little with more joy in it.

The two turn to Frisk and offer her a smile.

"Thank you so much." Chara is the first to speak.

"Yes. Truly thank you." Asriel agrees then he takes a breath. "I suppose that it is time." His words cause Chara to turn to him.

"I'm ready if you are." Chara says and Asriel nods his head. "Okay. Lets go." She looks to Frisk one last time. "Goodbye and thank you for all that you have done here." She sees Frisk nod as a small you're welcome. She turns back to Asriel who closes his eyes.

The two stay quiet letting Asriel focus and he floats spreading his arms.

Souls come flying all around him like some wormhole; pushing things away instead of toward.

There is a flash of light then everything goes dark for Frisk.

"Goodbye. And thank you so much." Asriel speaks sounding a little like an echo.

"Now we can truly rest in peace." An echo of Charas voice adds and after that there is nothing.

Frisk blinks and shifts finding herself laying on the ground of a tunnel. She can see the way out with the sun setting. She glances around hearing groans, and sees all those who were in the room with her when Flowey came.

Though as expected no more Flowey.

Frisk also sees the human souls floating including her brothers. She gets up as the others do and she sees them look around as if expecting a fight. She is glad that they settle down quickly and notice the way out. "Their souls are set free." She mentions moving towards them as they turn to her. "Asriel helped break the barrier and had Chara go with him to peace." She explains to them gaining shocked looks. Her eyes turn sympathetic as Toriel breaks out into tears.

Asgore hugs her in an attempt to comfort her. Though tears are also appearing in his own eyes as well.

The others do look sad though also relieved that at least the two can rest in peace.

After a little bit Toriel and Asgore calm down and turn to Frisk.

"Thank you for helping them with that." Toriel mentions with a sniffle and Frisk nods her head.

"Yes. Truly thank you." Asgore agrees with what Toriel has said.

"It really was no problem at all." Frisk tells them and Asgore straightens himself.

"Well. Allow us to be the first to set foot out onto the surface." Asgore mentions and leads the way as everyone outside.

They stand together as they look over the land of the surface that they can see.

The land showing a forest with a city that can be seen just past the forest. It is also bathed in the glow of the sunset.

"It's beautiful." Sans mentions as though slightly unintentionally.

"It is. It really is." Papyrus speaks of agreement to this.

They turn as footsteps can be heard and they see a woman alongside the police.

"Auntie?" Frisk gasps recognizing the woman almost immediately.

The woman has lightly curly dark brown hair, deep green eyes, a dark pink summer dress with black leggings, a black jacket, and black runners. She also has large breasts. She looks relieved to see Frisk then looks scared as she takes in the monsters. "Frisk. Come to me where it's safe."

Frisk blinks at her aunt. "But I am safe." Frisk mentions then remembers her clothes are torn even though she was healed. "They didn't hurt me. They helped me. I wouldn't be standing here like this if it wasn't for them." She takes a breath ready to tell them her story if it will help monsters gain peace. "I went on the mountain in search for the monsters I believed killed my brother. But I was shown that it was an accident. They wanted to break the barrier, holding everyone who went in the underground there, without hurting me or the other human souls of those that fell in there." She spots the souls surround her as if to show that it is true. "A bad monster tried to destroy everything. But they helped me in stopping him. Please. They want peace. They really mean us no harm. That's why the first ones to step out were a small group. They didn't want to seem threatening to humans. I'll take a lie detector test if that's what will get you to believe that I'm truthful. They're not forcing me to say this."

The officers seem a little hesitant and shocked at first before turning to one.

The one looked at steps forward and holds his head high. "I am the chief of police. And I joined this search. Certainly not expecting it to end like this." He admits as his amber eyes glance away. He adjusts his hat causing his ear length dark red hair to shift. "Though I cannot officially say full peace between humans and monsters, I would like to offer my peace. I can see the confidence and honesty in Frisk here. One that I only see in people who are really truthful." He offers his hand to the monsters. "The name is Gordon. And I'd like to welcome you to the surface so to speak. I do have high beliefs that there can be peace between our species. As peace would be wanted on both sides."

Asgore moves forward and shakes hands with Gordon. "Asgore. King of monsters. And I thank you for your kind words. We really do want peace and I am glad to hear that it probably will happen."

The two offer smiles at each other as Frisk grins happily; only to gently snuggle her brothers soul.

The end.

I might make a part two with them on the surface but no promises.

This was fully written on my phone so hopefully I caught any autocorrects.

I hope you enjoyed!
