So here I am back with another chapter. I don't really have much to say in this beginning this time, but I do hope you enjoy.
There, in that room that was all white was a boy sitting on one of the hospital beds that were provided. He had a blank, almost vacant look on his face as he sat up. The last few hours he remembers may have been the worst he's ever experienced in his life. Actually, he was certain this was the worst moment in his life without a doubt.
He reached a short arm up to his head and rubbed it. Instead of the balls he would usually feel up there, he instead felt the bandages that covered the entire tip of his head. Those bandages helped remind him of what happened at the USJ; not that he needed anything of the sort since it was still vividly clear in his mind.
Once the villains started showing up, all he could do was panic. This definitely wasn't supposed to happen! They were just there to practice some hero rescues, not fight actual villains! He hoped it would be simple: Find the rescuees, save them, and heck, maybe impress a girl or 2 if he was partnered with them.
Instead, he was met with the chaos that ensued after their teacher went to fight them off. At that point, he wanted to run away, but he knew that would be impossible once that purple mist-like villain showed up and started sending people to different areas.
He was standing next to Tsuyu when a portal opened underneath them, sending them to a rocky, mountainous area. They were quickly surrounded by a bunch of villains that looked absolutely terrifying. His immediate instinct was to run away, and it looked like Tsuyu wanted to do the same, but they were cut off by some of them blocking their way.
They both did their best in the fight (the frog girl more than himself), but they needed to escape. Eventually, an opening was made and they took it. Once they escaped, they noticed they were very badly injured from the fight. He had suggested they make their way back to the exit so they could get help. After all, their teacher should've been able to take care of all of those villains.
When they got there, he realized how wrong he was. Thirteen was lying on the ground, badly beaten, and their homeroom teacher didn't look any better. A giant purple monster with a beak had him on the ground and was repeatedly slamming his face in.
There was also a lanky man with blue hair that looked rather annoyed, "Grah! First my transport is defeated, and now All Might won't even show up! What do I have to do to get him to play?!"
The head villain had turned to their direction, not expecting to find anyone, but he wasn't disappointed at all at the sight before him. He gave a sick, twisted smile from behind the hand on his face before he lunged at the 2 heroes-in-training.
"Maybe if I increase the body count, he'll show up!"
Mineta quickly shook his head to try and stop the memory from continuing. He didn't need to see anymore. He already knew what happened after that. He absentmindedly put a hand to his head and rubbed it again.
The boy let out a sigh as he brought his hand back down and gripped the bed sheets tightly. What could he do now? He definitely couldn't be a hero anymore because of his lack of a quirk now. He wasn't really that adept in science, math, or anything like that, so he couldn't pursue another good job like that.
And worst of all, he wouldn't get the chance to see his female classmates in their skintight or revealing costumes as much anymore. That'd definitely suck.
In no time at all, Izuku finished his quest, got paid for it, and then started making his way back to Mr. Everglade's home. The boy glanced down at the 300 credits he received. Similar to Yen, the amount of money he got wasn't exactly a lot.
Still though, it was a start, and he needed to start somewhere after all.
It took him a little bit to make it back to the house, where he was once again reminded of the damage he caused. And as it turned out, Everglade was outside as well, sitting in a chair and reading a small book.
"I'm back after completing the quest, and I got the money from it." he then showed the man the 3 coins he received that each said '100' on them.
The man looked away from the book and looked to Izuku and the coins. He nodded his head a bit in approval. "Well done. This is just a step towards your goals. By the way, I expected you to come back much sooner. Did you run into some trouble?"
After all, the greenette was gone for a few hours, and the standard beginners quests usually only took an hour at most. Combine that with the fact Izuku could destroy almost every monster in a single hit and that he has probably had combat experience before, it definitely shouldn't have taken as long as it did.
"Ah yes..." the wielder of One for All said before he continued, "I actually met both goddesses of Lastation today. They-"
Before he could finish, Everglade rose from his chair in surprise, dropping the book, "You met CPU Noire and CPU Candidate Uni?"
Izuku nodded his head, although he was a but surprised with the emotion Mr. Everglade displayed just then. However, maybe it was just the fact he met the leaders of the nation already. That'd normally warrant shocked or similar expressions from most people, so the boy just left it at that.
Thompson shook his head and cleared his throat a little bit before his normal, indifferent look came on his face, "I do have to say that's a bit... surprising since you haven't been here that long."
"That's true. I didn't think I would meet them at all to be honest." He rubbed the back of his neck before he continued, "And I'm actually going to see the CPU candidate again tomorrow for a quest."
"A quest?" To be honest, the man didn't think he would be going on a quest with Uni of all people. Did she need help with certain quests? Unlikely since she didn't really seem like the person to ask for help. He remembered a few months ago some monsters attacked, and the candidate of Planeptune came to help. Uni quickly denied, saying she could handle the monsters herself. She did handle it in the end after all.
Maybe it was just a way to keep an eye on Izuku. With the amount of power he has at his disposal, it could definitely unnerve the goddess. To him, this seemed like the most logical reason.
After he was told that, Izuku went ahead and told Mr. Everglade everything that happened. From the dragon, the dogoo, and even getting a better handling on his quirk.
The man nodded his head after he heard everything, "Ah, well it seems today was rather successful and productive for you. To make sure tomorrow's the same, you should probably rest up."
The wielder of One for All nodded his head a little bit as he put the credits into his pocket, "I was planning on doing that. This gives me some time to see where I am with this quirk, and how I can improve on it some more." The boy then entered the house, leaving Thompson alone with his book and thoughts.
'He already met the goddesses... 3 in fact...' Everglade couldn't help but think again as he grabbed his book. He tried to read it some more, but he couldn't help but feel at least a little bit curious as to what this would mean for the boy.
The next day came in a flash for the young hero in training. Just like he had said, he spent the remainder of his time working on finding out his own abilities and ways he could improve. After some guesses and estimation, Izuku could say he was able to use around 4% or 5% of One for All without hurting himself. Sure, that was rather far from 100%, but it was something.
He also realized that doing quests, specifically the combat ones, would help him get stronger quicker. After all, at UA, he'd only use the quirk for a few seconds a day. Since he'd now be using it almost everyday now for longer periods of time, he was sure to improve with it.
That aside, he was also rather curious as to how strong the CPU Candidate was. He didn't doubt she was powerful because well... she's a goddess, a divine being... but maybe he could pick some things up by watching her fight. Was this simply a way to justify his hobby of recording everything? Maybe, but it would still be beneficial to him.
So with notebook in hand, he made his way to the guild. Since many people were just waking up and starting their day, it was pretty quiet for the boy. He ended up making it to the guild 5 minutes before 7 am, which is where he saw Uni standing outside of it, scrolling through her phone and seemingly waiting for him.
Sliding the notebook in his pocket, Izuku made his way towards the girl. When he approached her, he decided to be friendly and greet her, "A-Ah, good morning Uni."
Instead of giving a proper greeting, the candidate put her phone away and turned to him. She looked him up and down for a moment before she said something, "You're not late, so at least you're punctual. Come on so we can look at the quests."
As she went into the building, Izuku followed after her. The 2 of them went over to the quest board, where someone was just posting a couple new quests. Said person turned towards them and gave a small wave, "Ah, greetings Black Sister. I was just finishing up with setting the quests today. I do hope you have a successful day today." They gave her a small bow out of respect before they left the 2 in the nearly empty guild hall.
Uni looked through some of the quests. She had started in the higher ranked section, but upon remembering the greenette was low ranked, she went to the easier ones. "I assume you'd rather take an extermination quest, right?"
"Ah, yes," he responded as he glanced at the quests too. As he looked, he grew quite curious as to what some of the creatures were. He knew about dogoos, but some of them he was rather interested in seeing. Especially whatever a 'horsebird' was.
"Um, Uni?" the boy asked. When the goddess turned to him, he pointed to a quest that wanted 12 horsebirds to be slain, "If um... if you don't mind, c-could we do this one?"
She turned to it and read it over. She saw it was within his rank as well, so she shrugged and took that one. No real reason not to accept it anyways. "Alright then. Think you can handle 12 horsebirds? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I doubt you have 12 fingers to use that ability of yours so much."
The boy scratched his head a little bit as he somewhat nodded his head, "I'll do my best. I'm not sure what their capabilities are, but if it's available for newcomers to questing, then I can do it too..." He finished the sentence with a bit of determination in his voice. "P-Plus... I can do it without... breaking myself. Remember w-when I... ran away from y-you yesterday?
"Oh yeah... that..." Uni said a little bit sourly. It was still a bit embarrassing that she had to resort to her HDD just to catch up to this human. "Alright then, if you say so," she then handed him the questing tablet that showed Izuku where they would be going, "Here you go then. You can lead us to some then."
"A-Ah, okay," he said as he took the tablet. With the general area known to him, the pair went ahead and started their first quest together.
They had been walking for a few minutes now, and it didn't seem like Uni was going to make any attempt at conversation. With that being said, Izuku knew things couldn't stay like this. He couldn't gain her, and the senior CPU's, trust if he at least didn't open up a little bit. So he figured he'd say the first thing that came to mind.
"Say U-Uni. Um, so who's your favorite hero-" as soon as he said that, Izuku wanted to facepalm. He wasn't in his home world, so that question wouldn't work. In fact, the girl next to him probably thought he was weird for asking that now.
And sure enough, beside him Uni raised an eyebrow out of confusion, "Favorite hero? What do you mean by that?"
"Ah, sorry sorry!" the wielder of One for All quickly exclaimed as he waved his hands in front of him, "It's uh... just something I'd ask people back home."
That only made the candidate's eyebrow raise further, "That's how you start a conversation? I assume you didn't talk to people much, huh? Nobody ever says anything about heroes here."
"Eheh..." the boy laughed nervously as he rubbed the back of his head, "Yeah, I guess you're right..."
"Unless..." Uni started, gaining the boy's curiosity. What did she think of him after he said that? "Unless you're just a huge comic book nerd."
The greenette staggered slightly from her assumption. It's not like she was wrong at all. Far from of it actually. Heck, he brought a notebook so he could get her stats and abilities just like he did with everyone else. He was a total nerd when it came to people and they could do in terms of combat; or just their abilities in general. But still, she didn't need to know how much of a nerd he was.
"Y-You're not completely wrong..." he said a little bit quietly, "I um... I really like superheroes and t-their superpowers. They fascinate me."
"Why's that, though?" the candidate asked, getting into the conversation a bit more; especially since there was no way she somewhat enjoyed the reactions she got from him, like the stagger, "I looked at a few comics when I was younger, and I didn't see the appeal. We goddesses are stronger than a lot of the heroes in the comics anyways. Plus, they aren't actually real."
He had to give that to her. He wasn't entirely sure, but he felt both CPUs of Lastation could deal a good number to the heroes back home, "Well, heroes have these cool powers they use to stop villains in their tracks. Along with that, they always save people no matter what-" the boy then started speaking a bit faster since heroism was his passion, "-I've recorded some amazing heroes before, but my all time favorite has to be All Might. He goes around saving people with a smile on his face. I want to be just like him once I get better with this quirk-"
"Hold on Izuku," the candidate said quickly; stopping Izuku in his tracks. This was her first experience with a Izuku rant, so she wasn't prepared with how fast he spoke, "Superheroes? All Might? Quirk? What are you talking about? You can't just spew your nerd speak to someone that doesn't read comics..."
The wielder of One for All looked off to the side and blushed a little bit from embarrassment, "Right... sorry. I'm sort of passionate about heroes..."
"Yep, I can certainly tell, Nerd Boy," Uni said with a small smirk on her face. The blush and overall embarrassment she saw Izuku show made a smirk appear on her face. She could definitely see that nickname sticking if they ever worked together in the future.
The boy was just about to comment on the nickname, before he and Uni heard a sound close by. They immediately ceased their conversation and carefully and quietly made their way over to the sound. If it was an enemy, it'd be much better to get the drop on them so they could finish it easily.
When they made it to the source of the sound, they spotted a group of 10 horsebird monsters all around a figure. The figure had on a dark blue hooded cloak so their face couldn't be seen. They had thick black gloves on, a pair of black combat boots, and a wooden staff on their back with 3 leaves on one end of it.
What both Izuku and Uni found most interesting about the scene was that the monsters weren't attacking the figure, but instead showing no signs of hostility.
"Good good," the figure said in a smooth, soft voice as they touched and pet some of the horsebirds like they were pets, "You guys are going to help me out a great deal."
To Izuku, he was understandably surprised. He didn't think the monsters could possibly be tamed like that. But to be fair, he still had a lot to learn, so maybe this was normal.
He turned to Uni, and her face of surprise and disbelief clearly conveyed this certainly wasn't normal.
The figure then looked away from the horsebirds and looked at the sky, "Hmm... it seems you'll be able to help sooner than I expected..." they then turned towards where Izuku and Uni were hiding, leaving the both of them surprised since they were sure neither of them made a sound, "We appear to have some visitors..."
That's all I've got for y'all. Ooo, who could this new figure be? And why don't the monsters attack him? Ooo, the mystery? Anyway, I hope you all enjoyed the chapter, and I hope you have a good rest of you day!
