: The Trip - part 1 :

The tears were streaming down Claire's face as she examined the newly healed skin beneath her bandages. There is no fucking way that just happened!

Her heart thumped with pure fear. It was like something from a damn sci-fi movie! Her arm was as good as new after a few seconds! Which begged the question of why the hell she had stitches if her arm could do that!

"Claire! What happened!" Chris rushed in, scanning the room frantically for whatever made his sister scream, but found nothing. He eyed her curiously as he noticed a tear run down her cheek. "Chris! the stitches just cut my arm and it healed! Look!"

".. What?" he asked after a minute of running the sentence over in his head. "How do your stitches cut your arm?" Claire undid the bandages on her arm and shoved it out to him. Claire remained silent so he presumed he was supposed to be looking at something, but all he saw was the stitches in her arm, and the slightly reddened skin surrounding them.

"Your arm looks perfectly fine Claire." he said monotonously.

Claire scoffed loudly and retracted her arm. "I saw it heal in front of my own eyes! The skin just.. fixed itself, i don't know!"

"Oh boy.." Chris said with a sigh. "Wesker said you might hallucinate because of the medicine you're on, said it should wear off soon though."

Hallucinate? From some kind of pain killer for stitches? that makes no sense. "What kind of medicine am i even on?" Claire asked with surprise. Chris shrugged and shook his head as he handed her the water he went to fetch. "How the hell would i know? ask him whenever you get back to work."

"And why can't you?" she asked with an edge in her voice. Unintentional, but she was a little pissy at how her own brother thought she was going coocoo.

Chris only smirked at her and plonked down on the opposite one-seater, folding his arms and he laughed to himself in that knowing way he always did when he had information Claire wanted, it was usually irritating and patronizing depending on the information needed, but right now it was just making Claire curious.

"Wesker's letting me off for the day to take care of you, and letting me go on the trip, thanks to you."

"Oh?" Claire asked with interest. "Thanks to me? how?"

"During the trip, he wants you to help take notes and shit, but since you're 'sick', he wants me there just in case you need to go home."

Claire nodded slowly. "That.. makes sense, i guess."

Chris clapped his hands together excitedly. "Hell yeah! The STARS trip is back on baby!" he hollered. "I still have the fucking Barry's patrol route as well as my own but i don't even care!"

Claire smiled ever so slightly. Poor Chris was so depressed when Wesker had given him a firm no on attending, so she was glad she wouldn't have to feel guilty if she enjoyed the trip and came home to the poor guy pathetically asking how it was when he was depressed about the whole situation. But what was there to enjoy exactly? it was just recruitment, wasn't it?

"Say, Chris." she started as he turned on the TV and flipped through channels. "Why were you so disappointed when Wesker said you couldn't go? whats to look forward to?"

Chris smiled over at her, giving her his full attention once he reached MTV. "Because during the day, the recruitment trip is all business, watching over training sessions and nit picking at what the base has to offer, but by night, its a fucking party to say the least."

Claire perked up. "A party?"

"Yeah!" he noticed that certain spark in Claire's eyes, which he knew meant that she liked what she was hearing. "A bunch of the STARS and some of the cooler recruits always go off the base and go drinking, Wesker even came with us once. He bailed pretty early, but still, he came."

Claire was inwardly jumping up and down with relief. She knew Chris couldn't of just been sad over some stupid recruitment trip! Of course there was a party involved, and boy did Claire love to party. Hell, her college life was 60% drinking and partying, and 40% lectures and class. Not the most balanced mix, but it was one she heavily approved of.

And did Chris say other recruits off the base? that had to mean hot guys.

"Oh fuck yes." Claire mumbled under her breathe, but it was loud enough for Chris to catch and laugh at. He didn't mind her drinking the occasional drink now that she was in college, but if he knew how much she really did, he'd have a heart attack. There were certain things he'd never know, and were a whole lot better off not knowing.

"Jesus i need to pack!" Chris shouted. "We're leaving in like 2 days!" he was running upstairs by the time Claire was broken from her trance of thinking about the partying.

".. shit me too!" Claire roared back as she hopped up and followed him.

"No abnormal or aggressive behavior?"

"No."

"Any strange skin discoloration or deformity?"

"None."

"Is she aware of the virus in her?"

Wesker scoffed. "How would she?"

William shrugged. "I had to ask." he answered as he jotted down Wesker's answers.

The two scientists were seated in William's spacious kitchen, taking some notes on Claire's state for research to turn into Marcus. Sherry was humming to herself as she coloured in her colouring book at the other end of the table.

Not that either of them minded, Sherry was sharp for her age, but she knew nothing of what they were discussing, and Sherry was like glue when it came to Wesker. Though he was cold and rather quiet when it came to Sherry, she could tell he held no bitter feelings towards her, more neutral feelings, so she took it as a kind of small affection, and was always excited to see him when he came over. She would almost never talk to him unless she was spoken to, and Wesker appreciated that immensely. Much like now, she would just prefer to be in the same room as him, preoccupying herself with either her stuffed animals or colouring.

Something that always amused Wesker was that she was also extremely obedient to him, while she was more carefree with William. He knew if he asked the child to jump off a cliff, she'd do it without question. He needed more people like that in his life.

"What if she injures herself and it heals, and she catches it?" he asked with the slightest bit of fear in his voice.

Wesker sipped his coffee and sighed from the bitter after taste. "I have it covered, fear not."

"Mhm." William hummed sarcastically. His mouth hung open for a moment when he spotted a section Wesker had left a lot of space for, entitled 'Test run.'

"Whats this for?" William asked, tapping his pen on the empty section.

"On the recruitment trip, i will have a little.. surprise set up for Claire, depending on how she handles it will show me just how much G has altered not only her physical strength, but if its had any influence on her thinking capacity."

William nodded and ceased the tapping, sticking the pen on his shirt pocket and handing Wesker back the notes. "Sure hope you know what you're doing Al, i mean, wont her brother flip if she gets badly injured or something? Even if she heals fast, he could catch it and see her heal or something."

Wesker chuckled and took another sip of his coffee. "And that is why Chris is part of this little surprise."

William's eyebrow shut up and stared at his co-worker. "Thought you screamed at him and kicked him off the trip?"

"A mistake easily rectified to bring forward new opportunities Will." Wesker returned.

"Mmm," William hummed. "This test run information better be sufficient Al, we have Marcus told we'll have all the data and a working sample for him on monday."

"And we will." Wesker stated with the wave of his hand, insisting that his friend trust him. "Honestly William, do you not know me by now?"

"I do.." he started hesitantly. "But in what sense are you talking about right now?"

Wesker flashed a wolfish grin as he stood from the table, handing his friend back the mug as he passed. He paused in the doorway of the front door to look back at the confused scientist.

"That i am a man of my word, and you will have all the physical and mental durability data by Monday. As for now, i must go deal with another.. work related situation." he nodded towards the confused scientist and his daughter and shut the door.

"Al's funny!" Sherry bubbled out as she fiddled with the ears of her rabbit.

"A laugh riot." William deadpanned as he returned to the table and his notes.

Wesker wasn't lying, he did have something else to attend to for Umbrella, but it was something only he could attend to. After the 20 minute drive, he pulled into his reserved parking spot and hopped out of the car. The department was busy as always, but that didn't stop him from going through with this. As he made a beeline towards Chief Irons office, he nodded at all who greeted him, mainly just underling police men and women he didn't often see.

He softly twice, and one he heard a gruff 'come in', he threw the door open.

"Wesker? wha-" Wesker shut the door and swiftly approached Chef Irons, who was sitting in his seat, file open in hand, looking fairly confused and just a little scared of the overwhelming presence the STARS alpha captain had.

"I will say this once Irons." Wesker spat as he flattened his hands on the Chiefs desk, leaning over it ever so slightly. "My team are specially trained to handle situations too dangerous for normal police officers, and running around the city chasing dogs is not what there skills should be going to, and they wont."

Chef Irons didn't topple easily, Wesker knew the man was most likely a quivering puddle of himself on the inside, but much like him, he wore quite the deceptive mask. But Irons was playing a game that Wesker had long since mastered. "My team will not handle those damned dogs, find someone else for your ridiculous missions. " he finished.

Wesker smirked internally as he turned, knowing full well he had won this go around. The sound of of the head officer clearing his throat caught his attention as he turned his head in mild curiosity.

"Marcus wants you to do it, Wesker."

The alpha Captain turned to face Chief Irons as he rose from his seat and tossed the file he was reading on top of a file cabinet and stared Wesker down. "Excuse me?" he growled.

The chief smirked ever so slightly as he looked away and caught his reflection in a mirror and fixed his shirt collar. "James Marcus, he's alerted me of what your.. lets say true intentions are here in my department."

Wesker's nose flared as he repressed the need to snap the mans neck. How dare he speak with such superiority! the man was a pig, merely awaiting his turn to visit the slaughter house!

"Oh don't worry." the Chief chided. "Your secrets safe with me, Marcus has offered me a generous amount of money, and even a little contract with Umbrella to keep quiet." the man smirked at Wesker's discomfort. He had a visible scowl on his face, almost like this news physically hurt him to hear. His hand grilled the back of the wooden chair opposite his desk so hard he thought it might just snap.

"And?" he growled in frustration. He couldn't believe this! and Marcus hadn't even said a word to him. Oh, how he was going to pay for this embarrassment. He had been looking forward to putting this overweight excuse for a police officer down in so many ways all week, and now his damn chance was blown to hell! And now, within what was once a type of haven from Marcus and Umbrella, had become a mere second Umbrella base. Stellar.

Irons chuckled and slapped his hands together. "Which means its a level playing field Wesker, that you're under my thumb and that you'll find each and every one of those damn dogs or Marcus will have your head.

The poor wood of the chair didn't stand a chance as the sound of the wood snapping down the middle was heard. Neither man dared to look at the damage just caused. They stared each other down, searching for something.. weakness most likely.

Wesker was furious. James Marcus had given him quite a lot, but in giving him advantages and chances within Umbrella, there was always a set back. Something that would sour an otherwise perfectly sweet deal. Oh, how he would make James suffer. If and when the opportunity showed itself.

Wesker walked over to the man who appeared to be standing perfectly straight and tall, confidence radiating off of him as Wesker approached. The confidence made him physically ill.

"I'll get those damn dogs on my own time, Chief Irons." he spat the name like it was acid. Wesker sharply jabbed a finger into Irons protective vest. He still winced all the same. "And don't you ever attempt to threaten me. Trust me when i say there is a lot worse things i would do than what Marcus could do."

Wesker didn't stay to hear the reply. He marched out of the office and down the corridor, going straight for his car. This was a blow he really didn't need right now. Being under constant surveillance in Umbrella was one thing, but now he was free from it all nowhere.

He had no idea how, or when, but he knew that the deaths of both Chief Irons and James Marcus, when the time came, would not be of natural cause, and most certainly be caused by him.

It was Thursday morning, about 5:30 am, and Claire was in an absolute panic as she threw clothes around her room, searching for her hair straightener.

"Uuuuggghh!" Claire groaned loudly, unable to find the damn thing. Chris knocked softly on her door at the sound. "Whats up Claire bear?" he asked her through the other side.

"Can't find my hair straightener!"

Chris took a moment to reply. "Doesn't Jill use one?"

".. oh yeah!" Claire said in relief. She could just borrow hers if she needed it then.

With a lot of work clothes, some casual, 2 nice dresses, a couple pairs of shoes, her portable CD player and headphones, some hair products, a hair dryer and some junk food, she was ready to set off on this trip.

Claire threw open her bedroom door to see Chris applying gel to his hair, using the mirror at the end of the hall. "Lets do this!" Claire shouted, a whole lot louder than was necessary but hell, who cares! She was going on what was practically a party weekend with her friends and the best part was she was getting paid over time for it.

She could of died happily in that moment as she thought of heading out to the clubs with Jill and Rebecca, picking up guys, while the boys went to some dingy bar.

The doorbell rang and the siblings threw each other a smirk before Claire ran downstairs and threw open the door. Jill greeted her with an ecstatic hug and giggle. "I'm so ready for this!" Jill shouted throughout the house. Somewhere, she heard Chris holler a 'hell yeah!' but it was slightly muffled by a closed door.

"You got a hair straightener i can borrow for the weekend?" Claire asked as she picked up her bag and threw it into the back of Jill's new blue Lexus. "That, some junk food and a bunch of make up to share." she answered with a wink.

"Perfect!" she squealed. "Oh! and hey, about this party or whatever." she whispered, just in case Chris decided to come out of the house and surprise them. "What happens?"

Jill smiled. "Chris told you about the wild Saturday night huh?" She shut the boot of the car and leaned on it, gesturing for Claire to join her so they could stay close and keep their voices low.

"I went with the guys to the bar first year and it was pretty sweet, the place isn't a total dive and the owner knows the STARS pretty well so we get to stay late, but last year i went out to a nightclub with Rebecca and," Jill paused to check if Chris had come out yet, he hadn't. "Lets just say the talents pretty decent." she hummed.

Claire laughed and slapped her shoulder. "Excuse me! you're going out with my brother!"

"I know!" she said defensively. "I meant for you! I need to get you and Rebecca hooked up, even though shes had her eyes on Brad for lord knows how long."

"Brad?" Claire asked, a little surprised it was Brad of all people. He didn't really seem like Rebecca's type. To each their own she supposed though. Not like her and Brad were ever going anywhere, or were going to.

"I know right? but the heart wants what the heart wants." she shrugged. She squealed a moment later when she felt strong arms wrap around her, pick her up and spin her around once. "Chris get off you oaf!" Jill shouted over her giggling. Chris stole a kiss and set her down, wrapping his arm around her waist.

"Miss me?" Chris asked as he stared down at her smiling face.

"Always." she laughed back.

"Miss me?" Claire said sarcastically, as she always did when they had one of these moments.

"Even more!" Jill quipped and pulled Claire into a hug. Chris shook his head at us. I'd probably never let him enjoy a lovey dovey moment. "Alright ladies, we gotta get to the department for our bus!"

The three hopped in and Jill drove them to the department. Chris would of drove them, but he was forced to leave the car behind when he found the tank empty. Besides, Jill loved the company.

All the way to the department, they discussed the game plan. Claire would bunk with Rebecca and Jill and Chris would keep Jill updated on when and where they were going. If they really wanted to go off to a nightclub, the one the girls had gone to last year was a mere walk away from the regular bar, so getting a lift to and from the places was no biggie.

As they pulled into the yard, they found the whole team there, sitting on their bags, drinking coffee, chatting and yawning. In fact, Joseph looked asleep. "Oh i got this." Chris murmured as he slowly and quietly opened the car door, shutting it just as softly as he adopted a smooth jog towards the poor unsuspecting STARS member.

Just as he approached Joseph, ready to tackle him and send him into next week, Captain Wesker's voice jolted everyone out of their activities and scared both Chris and Joseph half to death.

"Bravo's over there with Enrico, Alpha's here." Wesker said in a loud commanding voice. All the Alpha's cringed, they knew what that meant; Wesker was pissed. Over what was anyone's guess. Joseph stretched and drearily dragged his feet passed Chris towards Wesker. Chris growled inaudibly and shook his head at the lost opportunity. But this little trip was sure to be full of chances to mess with the team.

As the full team gathered around Wesker, he folded his arms and appeared to look dead on, but the glasses were hiding his eyes pretty well. As Claire approached, she could of sworn Wesker redirected his stare to her, but she couldn't of been sure. She stopped beside Chris and Barry and held her hands in front of her in a show of respect that the Captain seemed to approve of, as he flashed that barest hint of smiles at her and then quickly wiped it off.

"I would immensely appreciate it from my group if you kept that noise levels tolerable, as i have quite the headache and would appreciate being able to relax and not scream at a group of full grown adults on the way." Wesker stated, to which he received curt nods from everyone. They had all been around Wesker long enough to know that if Wesker asks you to shut up, if you want to live, you shut up.

"When we arrive, i'll split you into rooms accordingly, i have yet to run it over with Captain Oliviera how many rooms we will be permitted this time around, so i ask that you be patient and courteous when we arrive." Wesker commanded. Not bothering to wait for a reply, he was the first to hop on the bus with a small black bag of luggage. Claire shrugged and sauntered to the back of the large group hopping aboard to bus, catching Rebecca and Jill's elbows and walking with them in a line.

"So where are we hitting first?" Rebecca ventured as she saw how happy the other two women were. "Well, Colosseum was so good last year that i'd hate to skip out on it completely, but then again, Micheal's bar was so nice and chilled out." Jill stated.

Rebecca bobbed her head in agreement and looked thoughtful for a moment. "We'll just have to see what we feel like on the night, if Micheal's is dead then we head to Colosseum, and vice versa."

"Now theirs a plan i can get on board with Becky!" Claire laughed.

As they hopped aboard the bus, Wesker caught Claire's attention as he sat up front. He had taken off his glasses and had seemed to be waiting for her as he stared intensely at her.

"Claire, i'd like to go over some notes." Wesker spoke up, and before she could even open her mouth, Rebecca and Jill had escaped to the back of the bus. The front? really? i feel like i just got in trouble on a school field trip.

"Alright." she replied as she tossed her bag under the seat and sat next to him. Leaning down to unzip her bag and pull out her notepad shed packed specifically for when they arrived, she sat up and flipped it open, scanning the notes she'd spent the previous Monday night taking down before reading aloud.

"The-"

"You'll be staying in a room with me once we arrive, in the Marionette hotel down the street from the training center."

Claire froze up immediately, almost dropping her notebook in shock. ".. What?" Did i fucking hear that right?!

"I require my assistant at all times during this trip Claire, i need you close at hand." he replied, completely unfazed by Claire's completely startled reaction. He had expected it though. He almost had to stop himself from smiling when he could almost hear the assumptions Claire was making in her mind. But he needed to keep as close an eye on her as possible. There was still a danger she could mutate, but if she showed no physical or mental change within the first 72 hours or so, he would no for sure that G had bonded perfectly.

But Claire could only assume something much more dirty.

He couldn't help but smirk now as he noticed Claire had gone slightly pale.

When he received no reply, he spoke up. "Is that a problem, dear heart?"

Aw fuck me! "No, Wesker." she said through gritted teeth. She realized it was probably a bad move when she didn't put captain before it, but the bastard had said to call him Wesker, and she was beyond the point of politeness at this point.

There goes my fun summer trip. She thought glumly as she slumped in her seat.

And Wesker had finally found his much desired entertainment, and was content in the knowledge that it was only the opening act.
