The story is switching perspectives - instead of a narrators perspectives, it will now be from CLAIRES PERSPECTIVE and WESKERS PERSPECTIVE. Just to let you know!

: Chapter 17 - All washed up :

The Rain didn't let up at all tonight. It continuously pelted the window that I stared out of every time I jolted awake from a branch smacking the glass or the wind howling particularly loudly. My mind kept pestering me to turn back to the man I had just given myself to, but I couldn't tear my eyes away from the window.

What have I done?

It wasn't bad, it was great in fact. Albert was a man of good health, good standing in the community, and certainly made my first time memorable, but was that a good thing? Would it of been better to of had an anonymous one night stand, and not live with the fact that I'd just slept with my brothers boss?

Possibly.

But their was no point in the what if's. What's done was done. I wouldn't worry about quite possibly never being a mother thanks to the man beside me, or even the possibility of him being wrong about me, and being pregnant right now. No, not tonight. Tonight I'd just watch the rain as it kept up its ferocious torrent against the window.

I'm an idiot. A real special kind of idiot.

Grumbling to myself, I finally lie back and turn to my left, glancing at Albert for the first time in a few hours. It was in that moment that all my worry and stress softened as I watched Alberts chest rise and fall. His hair, always so perfect, gently tousled. His mouth, always set in a sneer or sarcastic smile, was now a soft frown. He's not so bad once you get used to him. In fact, I'm probably one of the few people he allowed get to know him as well as I do.

I softly sigh and turn fully to him, slowly drifting off as I watch his sleeping form.

No, he's really not that bad.

"Bravo! I need all of you in my office right now!" Chief Irons bellowed into the STARS office, not that it sounded especially loud considering the noise level of phones ringing off the hook, and bravo's and alpha's bickering amongst each other.

The storm had wrecked havoc on Raccoon City. Power lines ripped down. Trees fallen. Cars crashed, rivers overflowing and flooding parts of town. A disaster to say the least.

In times like these, the Raccoon City Fire Department and Police would team up to minimize damage, but last nights storm was so severe, that the Fire Department had yet to even touch base with them as they were out handling the worst.

"Jill I need to know what the situation is at the Dovett and Burberry living estates, and speaking of Dovett, where the hell is Wesker?!" Chris roared as he wrote down the millionth address in his notebook that needed attending to.

"Phone lines are down on that side of town Chris, Joey from the Fire Department said that the ETA for clearing those roads is another hour, I won't say we'll be hearing from him until then!"

"Fucking hell!" Chris screamed in frustration as phones went unanswered and Alpha ran around like headless chickens. "Okay thats it, Alpha's here NOW!" Chris shouted over the noise. doing his best to sound urgent. Instantly the Alpha's all stopped, no one moving a muscle as the phones rang. Good, maybe now I can show everyone that I can be a leader.

"Alright everyone listen up! Jill get Joey on the phone and find out where the fire department is, and where they need us to go the most. We're going to Pair up and cover as much ground as possible! Barry and Joseph, get the cars outfitted with the proper tires for the roads and make sure to map out the safest routes to where Joey needs us. Brad, me and you are gonna get all the cars outfitted with those emergency first aid kits, and machetes to cut up any obstructing branches. Now, go!" Chris ordered.

Instantly, everyone jumped into action, Jill going straight to the phones as everyone scrambled to get their jobs done. Chris ran up to Brad as he was about to head down to the supply room. "Brad, we need to get Wesker and my sister out of Dovett first, get whatever we could possibly need since we have no idea what that side of towns going to look like, and get every car set up with those waterproof walkie-talkies, go!" Brad didn't need to be told twice, and was gone in a flash.

"Good going Chris." Jill smiled up at him as she waited for Joey to pick up.

"Let's just hope this works." Chris exhaled as he glanced at the picture of Claire and Chris on his desk. I'm coming Claire.

"Damn thing.." Albert grumbled as he trudged through the shallow layer of water covering his hardwood floor.

I waited on the stairs for Albert to assess the damage of his home and the street. Fallen trees and a very dangerous looking fallen power line were what greeted us in front of Weskers home, and large puddles lined the street and gardens. Albert didn't seem upset as much as he looked annoyed. He thankfully manually shut off the power - even though there wasn't any - from upstairs, so electrocution wasn't something we were worried about on the ground floor.

"No word from Chris?" I ask as I shiver from how cold the house is.

"No phone line, and our Walkie-talkies are well out of range Dear heart." Albert grumbled as he stared at his half ruined couches as they soaked up the brown water. No doubt those couches cost more than my months rent, and no doubt my shoes are currently worth more than all that's water damaged. I guessed he wasn't in the mood for chit chat judging by the shake of his head as I looked around the house.

Scowling, he ran back up the stairs and back into his room. Hesitantly I followed him back, worrying that he was going to do something out of rage, but surprised me by grabbing his gun and a few other su2Ipplies in a STARS branded back-pack. "We need to get to the precinct. No doubt my team are about as useful as a sack of potatoes right now." he mumbled as he peered into the bag.

Deciding to bypass the dig at his very capable team, I decided to reason with him. "But the roads lined with fallen power lines, we could get electrocuted!"

Albert stilled his packing for a moment, his hand suspended in the air as he angrily clutched the medical spray. "So I suppose we just sit here, twiddling our thumbs, waiting for someone else to rescue us?"

"Yes?" I hesitantly answered. He turns to me then, eyes practically glowing with frustration. "I mean.. we can't just walk out onto that street, we don't know if those power lines are dangerous or not, not to mention any trees that don't come down last night don't look all that stable.." I mumbled my whole answer halfheartedly as Albert came to turn around and stand, peering down at me. "Lets just wait for STARS! They could surprise you!"

"Claire, I am STARS. No doubt they're being split up and sent one by one to kittens stuck up trees and frisbees on roofs by that pompous idiot Irons.. damn man's only skill is squandering the departments funding. He couldn't co-ordinate a team if his life depended on it."

"Chris can lead a team no problem! Hes probably leading them right now!"

"No problem!" Albert gasps in mock horror as he runs his hands through his hair. "Chris couldn't lead a glee club! Hes impulsive and stubborn, he has no authority over that team. There is a difference between a leader and a team mate, Claire."

"At least give him a chance! Maybe if you stopped beating down on him, you'd get the chance to see that Chris isn't the screw up you make him out to be!" I'm getting increasingly irritated as I watch Albert adopt a legs-apart arms-folded stance as he wearily stares at me.

He sighs, and after a beat sits down on the bed, and I'm taken aback. Usually he's be about ready to put me through a wall when I take such a tone with him. Well, we did sort of sleep together, maybe we're passed that? "This is a horribly inconvenient situation Claire, I'm not in the mood to argue."

Finally I give up and sit beside him on the bed, staring down at my folded hands. "Me either."

A silence falls on us as we let the irritation of our little spat melt away. Things really have changed between us. The air felt difference between us now. It was less awkward.. more comfortable.

"How are you feeling? after last night?" Albert asked gently. I couldn't tell if he was looking at me as I hadn't taken my gaze away from my hands.

"Fine.. a little sore." I mutter a little embarrassed we're even discussing last night. All our cards were on the table now though. The sexual tension had been building for a while and had finally culminated last night. But what exactly did this mean for us?

"I didn't want to hurt you." he muttered as he subtly reached over and held my fidgeting hand, running his thumb over my hand. Instantly my face warms but I'm finding myself enjoying it rather than being embarrassed by it.

"I know." I acquiesce, knowing full well that we're passed all the animosity we once had. I turn to him finally, seeing him staring intently at him. Maybe I've wanted this all along. "We might be stuck here for a while, at least until someone comes by to sort out the situation outside.." Albert says as he glances out the bedroom window and then back to me.

"Whats a girl to do?" I mutter, more as a way to rise Albert, but instead he smiles and moves his free hand to my cheek, gently stroking my bottom lip with his thumb. "I can think of a few possibilities.." he purrs, leaning in to capture my lips.

I don't fight him. Oh who am I kidding? None of this was a mistake.. I want him.. he wants me.. I surrender to him and enjoy every second as his teeth nip my button lip, begging for entrance. I moan and open up ever so slightly, and that's all the invitation he needs. "Mine" he groans as he moves down to kiss my neck. "Yours" I agree with all my heart as I feel his hand move from my hands up my thigh, grabbing my hip and pulling me closer.

We're just getting cosy when all of a sudden theirs a loud bang outside Albert's room.

What the fuck?

Instantly we're up and running out into the hall.

"Oh my god" Claire gasps as she catches sight of a man stumbling down the hall towards the stairs. I'm waiting for Wesker to spring into action and stop what I assume is a burglar, but when I turn back, hes as white as a sheet.

"Impossible.." he murmurs, standing completely immobile. James.. he.. he survived.. No.. Impossible! Albert burst into a sprint all of a sudden, pushing Claire back as gently as he could so he could get to him first. No, he couldn't be back from the dead just like that.. something was wrong. Something had to be wrong!

James stumbled on the first step and instantly started tumbling down the steps, hitting the tiled floor at the bottom with a loud thump. Wesker heard Claire gasp and stumble towards the stairs, but he was faster. Instantly he was at the bottom, assessing his body. James was completely immobile, his heart rate was faint, but it was there. His face though.. it wasn't the same. His skin was rougher, with a slight green tinge.. almost like a crocodile

"Is the burglar alive?" Claire whispered from the top of the stairs, and Albert felt a spark of relief at Claire's assumption. "Yes, I think hes fine."

James eyes slowly opened and went wide as he caught sight of Albert. "Get away from me" he mumbled weakly, so weakly that Claire couldn't of possibly heard it. "Don't do something you'll regret James.. go into my back garden and into the garage, and I won't kill you." Alberts voice was low to avoid Claire hearing but was dripping with malice.

"Fuck you!" James screeched and pulled away, the sheer volume of his voice throwing Albert off balance. That was all he needed to pull away and get to his feet, bolting for the back door. Albert was quick to react as he bolted after him.

"Albert!" Claire shouted from the stairs but he couldn't wait. If James survived that virus he had to of had a rare marker in his blood.. possibly something like Claire's.. Though Claire didn't have such rough skin.. was he transforming? or was it merely a defect? He needed to keep him and study him.. He could be the key to creating the perfect virus for himself!

James slammed the door after him in an attempt to slow him down, but it was no use. Wesker came crashing through the door and into the shallow puddle that was currently covering his whole garden. Obviously the state of it caught James off guard as he trudged through the water in an attempt to make his escape through the badly damamged fence and into the woods.

"James! you have one more chance to do as I asked before I do something you'll regret."

James turned as he reached the fence, his eyes flaming with pure disgust. "How could you Albert? I made you. I made you what you are!"

"You guided me and raised my abilities to expert level and for what? for you to interfere with my work? for you to kick me off projects, or for you to only let Will on them?" I barked harshly as we began to circle, slowly stalking each other like cornered animals. "I'm the best researcher Umbrella could possibly hope to have! and for what? to get kicked off of projects, only to be replaced by your latest, and grossly unqualified fuck."

"Your time was not wasted Albert, you were kept on projects that were best suited to your hectic schedule for a reason!" James barked.

"For no good reason!" Albert boomed, instantly regretting the volume of his voice as Claire burst out into the yard a moment later, watching on in horror as what she assumed was a burglar was taking an offensive stance.

"Go back into the house with your girlfriend Albert, and let me go."

Seeing no way to get his way with James and not compromise Claire, he growled and stood up. "You're making a mistake." Albert mumbled softly so Claire wouldn't here. James face contorted into a smirk as he turned and ran towards the forest, but as he hopped the mangled fence, we heard trudging in the water at the other side.

Instantly everyone froze. James suspended on top of the fence as he desperately searched for the source of the noise.

But he was too late.

James was dragged to the other side of the fence instantly, only able to let out a scream before the sound of a dog barking and teeth viciously ripping flesh from James body was heard. "No!" Claire shouted as she ran for the fence to save him, but Albert knew that the dog on the other side was no normal dog. It had to of been a cerberus.

"Get back inside!" Albert shouted as he ran for her to grab her arm and pull her towards the door. Albert didn't stop pulling her for a second, and ran even harder towards the door as he caught sight of a second cerberus out of the corner of his eye. "Shit!" Claire shouted as she finally started running and not a minute too soon, they were both back inside and shutting the door behind them.

The dogs barking filled the silence of the house as they both fought to catch their breathes. When the cerberus realized their was no getting in, they began circling the house just as James and Wesker had not 5 minutes ago.

"You knew him." I quietly stated.

Shit. She heard. "I did, he was a work associate that didn't like me very much.. he must of been here to try and steal money or something to that affect.."

I nod and begin pacing the hall. "What the hell is with those dogs? They're so rattled up.."

"Its the storm Claire, animals get scared and aggressive when a storm of that magnitude hits."

"But they're-"

"Shhh." Wesker coaxed as he pulls me into a hug. "Go upstairs and calm down. I need to get my flare gun and scare the dogs off so they leave, so when help arrives, they won't be viciously attacked."

"Albert.. what about that man.." I weakly asked as I shake in his arms.

"I'm going to shoo the dogs and get him back inside. From what I can see, the dogs aren't interested in him anymore. I'll give him first aid and we'll bring him back to the station. Just go upstairs, I'll sort all this out." Wesker soothed as he led her back upstairs and onto the bed."

"I.. I might just take a nap." I quietly stated as I felt the adrenaline leave my body.

"Do." Albert coaxed as he kissed me on the forehead and tucked me in. Within seconds I was out for the count.

Wesker inserted 3 bullets into his gun as quietly as he could, and grabbed the shovel from beside the back door as he took aim at the snarling beasts outside his door, and within seconds they were no longer a problem.

James was lying on the other side of the fence, and to no surprise, was dying. The dogs had torn him up, shredding his face and left arm in the process of their attack. From what Albert could tell, he was going to bleed out if he didn't do something. Glancing at the windows of his house to make sure Claire wasn't there, he very slowly made his way around to James and crouched down.

"I gave you the option to make this easy."

James coughed and turned away from him. "I don't need the pity of a back stabbing bastard."

Shaking his head, Wesker glanced around the forest for a moment, thinking of his options. He was not healing from the attack as Wesker had hoped. During their confrontation, James hadn't seemed any stronger or more brave. It seemed all Weskers sirum had given him was rougher skin. Not the desired effect he was going for. At this point, a simple of James tissue would do, and weither James stayed alive to experiment further on was now irrelevant. Wesker's own virus was officially a failure. It was time to give Williams a whirl now.

Sighing, Wesker aimed his gun. "Good bye old friend, thank you for helping me get my start in this world, but I'm afraid I'm your end."

the shot rang out across the forest, but Wesker still did not spy Claire at any of the windows.

Grabbing his shovel, he stood up and holstered his gun. Time to clean the mess.
