Auction Prompt: Day 27, Auction 3: "So what you're saying is you have a problem that is totally your problem but you'd like to find a way to make that problem my problem, but here's the problem, (name/nickname), it ain't my problem."

I'm Sorry

"So… what you're saying is you have a problem that is totally your problem, but you'd like to find a way to make that problem my problem, but here's the problem, Carla… it ain't my problem."

Carla blinked at him, and then shook her head. "Actually, Perry, the problem is definitely already yours, because you caused the row and Bambi is sulking about it and that's just not what I need when I finish work."

Perry sighed. "He'll get over it. He'll be his lovely puppy self by the end of the week."

"You know, you could just apologise, and I'm sure he'd be back in your arms by the end of the day," Carla pointed out. "Just saying."

..

Perry whistled sharply and watched as JD stiffened before he turned around slowly.

"Come with me, Newb," he said, gesturing his head to the corridor that led to the on-call room. "We need to talk."

JD followed him, and Perry opened the door then stepped back for the younger man to precede him into the room. He shut the door firmly when they were both inside and looked at his boyfriend.

"I know I hurt you," he said softly. "And I know I was a jerk for taking my bad mood out on you. I'm sorry."

JD nodded slowly. "Okay."

Perry waited, but nothing else was forthcoming. It was unlike JD, who usually wrapped himself around Perry like a highly enthusiastic boa constrictor whenever they could steal a moment alone.

"Are we… okay?"

"Would you have apologised if Carla hadn't said anything to you about it?" JD asked, leaning against the bedpost. "Or would you have just waited until I came to you?"

Perry blinked and then sighed. "Probably the latter. You know me, Newb, I don't do the whole… admitting when I'm wrong thing."

JD snorted but nodded. "I know. But… we can't just keep going in the same circle, can we? I know who you are and it's fine, it's great, and I love you even when you're ranting at me, but… you have to be able to tell me you're sorry when you go too far, Perry. You can't keep expecting me to just get over it."

"I know," Perry admitted. Because he did know that, he really did, and whatever he'd said to Carla, he'd been gearing himself up to apologise to Newbie, because he missed his puppy-like boyfriend.

He was getting soft.

He reached out a hand and tugged JD closer by the hand, wrapping his arms around him. "I do know that, and I am sorry."

"Hmkay," JD agreed, reaching up slightly for a kiss. Lips brushing against Perry's, he admitted, "I missed you."

"I know, Newb. I missed you too. You'll come home tonight, right?"

JD smiled and nodded his head. "Yeah, I'll come home."
