Birth of a New Entity: (Book One of the Rewriter)

Realm: The Mummy 1999 Film

The Adventure Begins

Have you ever read a book, watched a movie, or played a game and wished that you could change one thing about the story? Or, had a thought that would make the tale even better than what you just experienced? Or, wished that you could just live in the realm of make-believe and fantasy?

If you have, then you and Patient 1015513114 have something in common. This little boy was never given a proper name. He came into this world a crippled and a mute. Unloved by his mother, he was placed in the care of an experimental laboratory that did the most unusual and unorthodox tests. Tests and experiments that would make the public shutter if they knew they were doing them.

Unable to walk or speak, all the boy could do was lie in his uncomfortable bed and wait for his doctors to torture him. The only comfort this child found was in a kind hearted nurse that took pity on him. She would give him books to read, movies to watch, and video games to play while he lied in wait for more of his tests.

All that changed one dark and stormy night. Patient 1015513114 was sleeping in his bed. Earlier that day, the doctors injected a new drug they were creating into his arm and he was now sweating like an ice-cream cone in the summer sun. He awoke as his breathing got heavier and heavier.

Suddenly, a flash of lightning struck the window above his head, shattering the glass into sand-like particles. The heavy rain started to drench Patient's sheets and face. He sat up in a startle and opened his eyes. To his shock, his room was being filled with a thick pea soup colored gas.

Before Patient could take another breath, another flash of lightning flew through the now empty window space and struck his IV pole. The pole was just a hair away from the metal frame of the bed. This created the electricity surging through the pole to arc. As a result, the gas in the room ignited and the room exploded with a flash of green and white.

Patient thought he was dead for sure, but became filled with shock the moment he opened his eyes. He was lying face down on a hard cold surface. The whole room was pitch black. So black that Patient couldn't see the very tip of his nose.

Patient pushed himself up and a torch on the wall next to him lit, allowing him to see the room and himself. The torch lighting startled him, but what filled him with breathtaking fear was when he looked at himself. He was no longer the little boy that he saw in his bedroom mirror. He had grown into a full-grown man. A man that was no longer a cripple.

For the first time in his life, he stood tall and felt strength in his legs and in his heart. He saw a rusty piece of metal lying next to him and picked it up. The reflection was dim, but he was able to see that his face and body had completely changed. He had pitch black hair, a strong chin under a well-groomed black beard, bright green eyes that seemed to glow every now and then, and his skin was pale like the grave, yet somehow still looked healthy enough to give him some color.

He then noticed that he was no longer wearing his grey hospital gown, but a black robe that covered everything but his hands, feet and head. He could feel something within the robes, so he reached into them and tried to pull whatever it was out so he could see it. To his surprise, he couldn't feel anything within the pockets of his robe, but he knew without a doubt that there was something hidden within.

It was in that moment that Patient stopped fiddling in his pockets, and started looking around his surroundings to see where he was. He was standing in a strange stone hallway. The floor was covered with sand and the walls were covered with faded Egyptian writings. There was also a terrible smell that stung the inside of his nose.

Patient wanted to get a better look at the writings and drawings on the walls, but before he could take one step closer, he heard a man screaming down the hallway. Some new instinct kicked in for Patient and he ran in the direction of the screams. He was both amazed and afraid. He was amazed at how fast he was moving, but afraid because the screams were getting louder, which meant that he was getting closer to the distressed man.

Patient finally came into one of the chambers within wherever he was and his breath was taken away. Standing before him was Warden Gad, from the Mummy. Warden Gad had his shirt torn open, and was swatting at the scarab beetle that was crawling under his skin.

Patient, without a second thought, jumped into action. He ran to Warden Gad, pinned him to the wall and carved out the scarab just before it was able to crawl to his throat. Patient grabbed the back of the scarab so it couldn't dig into his flesh, and sliced off the scarab's head.

It was in that moment that Patient realized that he was holding a gold handled dagger. He had no idea where the dagger came from, for he knew he didn't have it in his possession before he entered this chamber. Yet, somehow he was now holding this very sharp dagger that made it possible for him to save Warden Gad's life.

Warden Gad took a few deep breaths to calm himself before he said, "Thank you, Good Sir. May I ask you… who the heck are you!? And what the heck are you doing here!? This here is my find! Go find your own blue gold!"

Without thinking, Patient spoke for the first time, "Excuse me! I just saved your life, and all you care about is the blue gold you were plucking off the wall! It's the blue gold that tried to kill you!"

"You crazy man! How can blue gold kill me!? It was a bug that was crawling under my skin!" Warden Gad replied with intense anger.

Patient was stunned for a moment that he was able to speak to Warden Gad, but he knew that his words meant nothing. He would have to show the warden what he meant. So, Patient took his dagger and stabbed one of the scarab beetles stuck on the wall. The scarab squealed in pain as Patient pulled his dagger away from the wall. The scarab was still stuck to the tip of the dagger and struggled to get away, but couldn't.

Warden Gad's jaw dropped as he stared at the still struggling and loud scarab on the dagger's tip. He then vomited right before Patient's feet. Patient jumped back so his feet didn't get covered in the splash back of the foul smelling vomit. Warden Gad then wiped his mouth, tossed his bag as far as he could and ran out of the chamber screaming.

Patient shook his head before finishing off the scarab still struggling on his dagger. Once the scarab was removed, Patient looked at the dagger more closely. The hilt was very beautiful and shined in the light of the torch. In the center of the hilt's guard was a red jewel in the shape of the eye of Ra within an emerald pyramid. On the other side of the guard was a sapphire in the shape of Odin's eye within a pearl gem in the form of his holy trinity. The blade looked to be made of the finest silver, yet it was stronger than steal.

It was in that moment that Patient realized where he had seen this dagger before. It was the dagger he had drawn and made up when he was just four years of age. He had created this dagger to have the power to see evil and to vanquish it before it was too late.

Now that he had his childhood weapon in his hand, he was a little disappointed in himself. He sighed and said to himself, "I wish I imagined it to be a sword instead of such a small dagger. A sword seems more fitting for my new body." Before Patient's eyes, the small dagger grew into a mighty sword. Both the ruby and sapphire eyes began to glow their vibrant colors.

Patient couldn't believe his eyes or his mind. Patient smiled as he looked for a place to put his new weapon. He discovered that a black scabbard appeared on the side of his hip and he slid the blade within it.

The moment he put his sword away was the moment that O'Connell came into the room with his gun drawn; Eve and Johnathan not too far behind him. O'Connell pointed his gun at Patient and shouted, "Who the heck are you!? Are you one of the diggers!?"

Patient swallowed to clear his dry throat and calmly replied, "No, Sir. I'm not entirely sure how I got here or where I am."

Eve lowered O'Connell's gun before asking, "Do you know what happened to the man that just ran out of here?"

Patient nodded and replied, "Yes. He was plucking these blue scarabs off the wall. One of them came to life and started crawling under his skin. I was able to remove it, but he freaked out when I showed him where the scarab came from and ran away screaming."

Johnathan looked at O'Connell and Eve and said with a hint of fear in his voice, "I knew it. I knew this place was cursed."

Eve rolled her eyes at her brother and said, "There are no such things as curses."

Johnathan chuckled slightly before he said, "Oh no. The moment a coffin falls from the ceiling, a scarab comes to life and crawls into the warden. How is that not a curse?"

Eve shook her head and calmly replied, "Honestly, Johnathan. A scarab didn't come to life. This man is clearly suffering from heat stroke or some other kind of ailment." She then turned to Patient and asked, "What is your name, Good Sir?"

Patient wasn't sure how to answer at first, but then he realized that this was his chance to give himself a name. One that he could be proud of. He smiled slightly before he spoke, "My name is Robin. Robin Van Reader."

O'Connell put his gun away, then asked, "Alright, Robin, what is the last thing you remember."

Robin knew he couldn't tell the truth, so he came up with a story, "The last thing I remember before waking up here was traveling in the desert with a small group. We were searching for a lost pyramid that we recently found record of on a stone tablet. Some, I got separated from the group and started walking aimlessly through the desert sands. Then I woke up in the middle of this hallway and heard screaming. That was when I came across this so called warden."

Eve nodded and said, "See Johnathan. Heat stroke. This poor man has been wondering through the desert for who knows how long." She then turned to Robin and said, "You must be thirsty and hunger. You shall camp with us tonight."

Robin smiled and followed everyone to their campsite above ground. Eve gave Robin some water and told him to drink very slowly. It was around Robin finished his first bottle of water that O'Connell returned to the group.

O'Connell sat next to Eve and said, "Well I just found out that the warden took his camel and ran off. I don't think we'll be seeing him any time soon. Also, I heard that the Americans had their fair share of scares today. Some of their diggers were melted."

Johnathan quickly asked how. So O'Connell explained, "Salt acid. Pressurized salt acid. Some kind of ancient booby trap."

Johnathan swallowed and said, "See. I knew this place was cursed." Then the fire flickered.

Robin calmly said, "In more ways than you know."

Eve turned to Robin and asked, "What do you mean by that?"

Robin smiled and said, "Well if what you told me earlier is true, that somehow I ended up in thee Hamunaptra. Then you all must know the story of the High Priest Imhotep."

Johnathan's curiosity peeked and he said, "No. I've never heard of him. Please do tell."

Robin calmly replied, "Gladly. You see. Long ago there was a high priest named Imhotep. He was the pharaoh's keeper of the dead. He fell in love with the pharaoh's mistress and they would meet in secret to see one another. One night, Imhotep actually touched her, which was forbidden and the pharaoh walked in on them. So, both of them killed him. Imhotep fled, while his love killed herself to save him.

"Stricken with grief, Imhotep stole her body and her scared jars and brought them her. Using the book of the dead, he tried to revive her, but the pharaoh's bodyguards stopped the ritual and sentenced Imhotep to death. Not just any death, he was to be mummified alive and placed with a powerful curse that if he were to ever be raised again he would be a walking plague to all of Egypt if not the world."

Johnathan's mouth dropped. He swallowed before he asked, "How do you know all of this?"

"That is a question that I would like answered too." Said a voice standing behind them. All of them turned and saw Ardeth standing with his sword drawn. He pointed his blade at Robin and O'Connell stood and drew his gun. Ardeth shouted, "How do you know of this tale! Only the Medjai know this legend, for we have kept watch over this cursed place for centuries to insure that the creature never be risen again!"

Robin lowered O'Connell's hand that held the gun and said, "It is good to finally meet you in person Medjai Ardeth. Yes, I too was once called a Medjai, but was disbanded from the group for my beliefs. So I journeyed to discover other lands and tales to see if any other legends of history were true. I still can't believe that I am standing in the real Hamunaptra. And now that I see you standing here, I know that the legend of Imhotep must be true."

Ardeth shook his head and replied, "Prove to me that you are one of the Medjai."

Robin smiled slightly and calmly replied, "I am a stranger traveling from the East, seeking that which is lost."

Ardeth lowered his sword and asked, "Have they discovered the creature?"

Robin nodded and said, "Yes. But he still slumbers and is still locked away in his coffin."

Ardeth calmly asked, "If you were once a Medjai, then why are you helping these people? Why haven't you killed them once they discovered the creature's remains?"

Robin softly replied, "Now you know why I was disbanded. I couldn't kill a soul, especially an innocent soul. These people know no better and don't disserve to die. I also believe that Imhotep doesn't disserve his fate. The Madjai in the past not only killed him, but cursed him in the afterlife as well. No man whose only sin was love should have their entire afterlife be filled with endless torment. No. No I believe that he needs to be freed from his afterlife prison and reunited this his long lost love."

Ardeth nodded and said, "Yes, I see why you were force to leave the Medjai. Enough blood has been spilt on this land, so I will give you one day to leave. Leave here or die."

Ardeth then jumped onto his horse and rode off with the other Medjai. Eve was stunned by all of this and said, "Incredible. A secret organization who's entire goal is to keep an ancient mummy from rising from the dead. It goes to show that some people will believe anything, yet I can't imagine killing people over some ancient fairytale."

Robin turned to Eve and said, "It is more than a fairytale, Miss Carnahan. I guarantee that if you use that key tomorrow on that coffin, you'll find another coffin inside. And within that coffin, you'll discover a very juicy mummy and discover that he was indeed buried alive. If you insist on seeing for yourselves if the legend is true, then I must keep a careful watch on the Americans so they don't open the cursed chest that contains the Book of the Dead."

Morning came and Robin was nowhere to be found. O'Connell, Eve, and Johnathan went back to the coffin and opened it. It was as Robin had said. They discovered a very juicy mummy that had indeed been buried alive.

Eve swallowed and said, "Well maybe there is some truth to this legend after all. It is as Robin said, the markings on his sarcophagus tell me that he was to be condemned in the next life as well."

O'Connell nodded and said, "I'm starting to become a believer. But where is Robin? You'd think he would want to be here to see for himself if the legend he grew up on was true."

Johnathan calmly replied, "Maybe he is with the Americans. He did say he wanted to stop them from opening some kind of cursed chest." Johnathan took another look at the mummy that appeared to be staring back at him. He shivered and begged, "Can we please lock this thing back up. He is starting to freak me out."

Eve smacked Johnathan's arm and said, "Oh you stop that. He can't harm anyone."

Johnathan gently grabbed Eve's arms and said, "My dear sweet baby sister. You are in denial. What more evidence do you need? What will it take for you to believe that this mummy is one ritual away from coming to life and cursing us all!?"

Eve slapped Johnathan across the face and said, "Get a hold of yourself Johnathan. There is no such things as curses. We just discovered that an ancient legend has some truth to them. He can't harm anyone of us. I think we should leave him just like this for a day or two, to allow him to dry so we can examine him further."

Eve was walking through the campsites when she saw Dr. Chamberlain struggling to open a black book. Her jaw dropped as she asked him, "Where did you find that book?"

Dr. Chamberlain still struggling to open the book replied through his grunts, "In a chest that we discovered in the base of Anubis."

Eve smiled slightly when she saw the markings and the key hole and said, "I think you need a key to open that book."

She then returned to O'Connell and Johnathan and asked, "Any signs of Robin?"

O'Connell shook his head and replied, "No, and no one else as seen him either."

Johnathan turned to Mr. Daniels and asked with worry, "Did no one try to stop you from opening that chest?"

Mr. Daniels smiled and said, "O'Connell's buddy Beni tried to. But then he ran off scared. We haven't even heard of your seen your friend Robin."

O'Connell nodded and said, "That's what worries me."

Later that evening, Eve took the book from Dr. Chamberlain and read from the first passage in the Book of the Dead. Once she had finished, a swarm of locus descended upon their campsite, forcing everyone underground.

During all the chaos, Mr. Burns' glasses were broken. Fear filled his heart as he struggled to walk down the dark cold hallway. He heard someone at the end of the hallway and called out to them. The person didn't answer, instead he vanished from Mr. Burns' blurry view.

More fear filled Mr. Burns. He drew his gun and started circling around in a panic. He heard a growl right behind him and new that something was there. He didn't want to turn around, but his curiosity overtook him. He slowly turned and saw through his haze a mummy standing tall behind him. Mr. Burns screamed in terror as the mummy grabbed him and dragged him down the hallway into a dark room.'

Mr. Burns screamed in more terror as the mummy reached for his eyes. Suddenly, the mummy dropped Mr. Burns and started screaming a horrible hair standing scream. Mr. Burns fell to the ground and felt something cold laying on his chest. He slowly grabbed it and realized it was the mummy's severed hand. He tossed the still wiggling hand away and someone grabbed his shoulder.

Mr. Burns turned his head to see a blurry but friendly face. Robin calmly said, "Come Mr. Burns. We must leave this place before the creature can harm you. I will not let him kill you or your friends."

Mr. Burns wasn't sure if he could trust this man at first, but when he saw the blurry mummy reattaching his severed hand, he went willing with Robin. Robin guided Mr. Burns down the dark hallway and led him back to the surface.

There, Ardeth and the other Medjai were waiting for them. Ardeth looked Robin up and down and said, "You are a man of many talents. I'm impressed that you broke free from your bonds, but you were foolish to come back here."

Robin shook his head and replied, "If I didn't this man would have been killed. In fact, if you didn't kidnap me, I would have been able to stop the creature from rising. But now, thanks to you, the creature as risen again."

Ardeth eyes widened and he asked, "You saw the creature?"

"Yes. The creature once again lives. Now it is up to me to send him back to his grave." Replied Robin with frustration.

Ardeth calmly asked, "Why? You are no longer a Medjai. Why take the responsibility of killing the creature?"

Robin smiled slightly and said, "I may not be a Medjai. But I believe the reason why I am here is to prevent innocent people from being killed. I believe I came here to stop Imhotep from completing his curse as well as helping him to find peace in his afterlife."
It was in that moment that O'Connell, Eve, Johnathan and the rest of the Americans came to the surface. Ardeth turned to O'Connell and said, "I told you to leave here or die. Now, you may have killed us all. You have awakened the creature that we have feared for more than 3,000 years."

O'Connell calmly replied, "Relax. I got him."

Ardeth replied with frustration, "No mortal weapon can kill this creature. He's not of this world."

Robin stepped forward and said, "Well it's a good thing that I have a weapon not of this world. I tested my theory and I know without a doubt that this sword can hurt him." Robin drew his sword and Ardeth's mouth dropped.

Robin gently handed Ardeth the sword and Ardeth studied it carefully. He then turned to Robin and asked, "Where did you come by this blade? I have never seen its design or pattern before.

Eve, who was also studying the blade, said, "Nor have I. The symbol on the hilt is defiantly the ancient symbol for Ra. But the symbol on the other side is the symbol for Odin. As far as I know, Egyptians and Vikings were thousands of years apart and had no interaction with one another."

Robin then retold his childhood fantasy of how this blade came to be, "This blade has the symbol of Ra and Odin because it is said that both of their power dwells within the blade. The Eye of Ra on the blade is said to be Ra's actual eye. The same with Odin's. I believe that this blade was once held by a traveler that wanted to make one of the strongest weapons the world had ever seen.

"The traveler traveled to what remained of Ancient Egypt first and somehow found the jewel known as the Eye of Ra. He then traveled to a small island where the jewel known as Odin's Eye was loacated. Once both gems were in this traveler's possession, he went high into the mountains and forged this blade using the rays of the sun and the snow of the mountains.

"I discovered this blade during my travels. I believe that this blade can stop Imhotep, but I need Evelyn's, O'Connell's, Johnathan's and possibly your help Ardeth. You see, the power within the Eye of Ra and Odin's Eye or dormant. I haven't been able to use the swords true power. I believe that the Eye of Ra could be activated if we found the Book of Amun-Ra. Within its text may have the secret to unlocking part of the sword's power. Enough power to kill Imhotep. Not just kill him, but purify him and send him to a better part of the underworld."

Mr. Burns shouted, "What in blue blazes are you talking about!? There is a walking mummy after me and you are hoping that a simple sword can kill it? Are you crazy?"

"Just as crazy as a man who just saw a walking mummy." Replied Robin. He then asked Ardeth, "Can you have your men take these four to a safe place just in case we fail."

Ardeth chuckled slightly and said, "And what safe place is that? There is no safe place for them. The creature will never stop hunting them until he is fully regenerated."

Robin smiled and said, "That won't happen. I suggest you have your men take them to a cat lady. With all those cats surrounding them, the creature wouldn't dare get close to them to suck them dry. But if my plan works, then they can move on with their lives without any fears of the creature."

Ardeth nodded and order his men to take the Americans and Dr. Chamberlain to Cairo. To find the most crazy cat-lady there and to lock them all in. Eve was confused and said, "Not to burst your bubble, Robin. But we don't even know where the Book of Amun-Ra is. It was supposed to be in the stature of Anubis, but that was where the black book was."

Robin shook his head and said, "Evelyn, Evelyn, Evelyn. You claim to be an Egyptian historian. If the Book of the Dead was with the god of the dead and mummification, then where would the Book of Amun-Ra be?"

Eve's mouth dropped and said with excitement, "Of course. The gold book must be in the statue of Horus."

Robin nodded and said, "Excellent. So you, O'Connell and Johnathan go and find the statue and retrieve the book. Ardeth and I will split up and try to keep the creature here. With his prey and the sacred jars gone, he will start his search for both. But if we can keep him here, then he will never achieve his goal."

Everyone did as Robin suggested and the search for the gold book began. Robin stayed at the entrance in the exact spot he knew Imhotep's hand would arise from the sand. Just as he thought, the skeleton hand burst out of the sand in front of Robin's feet. Robin smiled and slashed the hand off with his sword.

Robin could hear Imhotep's screams and heard him fall back into the chamber that he was in. Robin grabbed the wiggling hand and placed it in a box. Imhotep's entire body shot out of the sand and he roared at Robin with frustration.

To Robin's surprise, he spoke to Imhotep in ancient Egyptian, "I can save you my friend. I can reunite you with Anck Su Namun. You and her can live together in the afterlife in peace and harmony."

Imhotep growled and replied with anger, "Your promise is meaningless to me. I suffered in the depths of the Underworld for thousands of years. I was tormented and cursed beyond your wildest dreams. No. I must fulfill the curse that has been laid upon me and take over this world."

Robin shook his head and said, "I tried to be nice. If you don't want peace and harmony, then I will send you back to misery and woe, for I will not let your curse take those men's lives."

Imhotep roared and a swarm of flies flew from his mouth. Robin pointed the Eye of Ra at the swarm and said a prayer in his heart. A red flash slowly came from the eye and all the flies dropped dead.

Fear trembled over Imhotep's broken face. Imhotep took a step back and said, "Thee Eye of Ra. Only a true priest can wield its power."

Robin took a few deep breaths as he lowered the sword. He realized at that moment that this was no dream. This was no fantasy. Somehow, someway he had entered the world of the Mummy and was now changing its tale. He had thought this whole time that he was dreaming and that he would soon wake up from his hospital bed, but now he knew everything he was experiencing was real.

Watching the movie of the Mummy he always wanted to save all those that Imhotep killed as well as deliver him from his curse. So when he was living the movie in what he believed was a dream, he tried to achieve his goal.

But now a new fear and wonder filled his mind and heart. If this was all real, then how would this tale end if he failed? What would happen to him if he was killed during all of his heroic moments? He was only being brave because he felt invincible, as he did in his dreams. But now he felt weak and cold. Activating his sword's power to defend himself did something to him. He always felt like a crippled boy again.

Robin took a few deep breaths, wiped the sweat from his forehead and turned to face the still stunned Imhotep. Imhotep softly asked, "Can you truly set me free? Can you truly deliver me from the underworld's curse and reunite me with Anck Su Namun?

Robin slowly nodded and said through his tired breath, "I believe so. I truly believe that is why I am here." Robin then opened the box that contained Imhotep's hand and gave it back to him. He then extended his hand and Imhotep gently took it.

Robin then led Imhotep to where O'Connell, Eve and Johnathan were. Eve gasped and Robin softly said, "It's alright. He is ready to be set free, do you have the book?"

O'Connell swallowed and said, "No. We haven't be able to locate the statue of Horus yet."

Imhotep slowly stepped forward and gestured for everyone to fallow him. He led them to the statue of Horus and even opened the secret compartment for them so they didn't get sprayed with the salt acid. Robin then took the chest from Imhotep's hands and handed the Book of Amun-Ra to Eve to find the passage. Eve slowly studied the book until she finally found what she was looking for.

Eve looked at the mummy patiently standing before her and asked Robin, "Are you sure about this." Robin nodded so Eve started reading from the book. Strength started to flow through Robin once more. The Eye of Ra on the hilt of his sword began to glow. Robin pointed the eye at Imhotep and Imhotep screamed in pain for a few moments. Soon, the screaming stop as the light intensified.

Suddenly the light vanished and standing before them was no longer a mummy, but a man clothed in robes. Imhotep took a few deep breaths and slowly placed his hands on his face. He felt for the first time in a long time his flesh and the warmth of his skin. He slowly smiled and sighed with relief.

O'Connell was stunned and said, "I thought you said it was going to kill him."

Robin shook his head and said, "No. We cleansed him. The curse has been removed and now he has a second chance at life. He is no longer cursed, but a mortal man. And as promised, Imhotep I shall bring back Anck Su Namun. This will more than likely be my final act for this world, for I can feel that I am starting to fade away.

I promise that I will bring back Anck Su Namun if you promise to turn over a new leaf. You must promise me that you will no longer kill an innocent soul and that you will devote your life to doing good deeds. If you fail to keep your promise, the curse of the mummy may return to you and you will perish in the depths of the Underworld."

Imhotep smiled and said in English, "Oh I promise. I promise to do whatever it takes to be with Anck Su Namun and to never go back to that cursed Underworld."

Robin nodded once more and pointed his sword in front of Imhotep and another flash blinded everyone. When the flash ended, laying in front of Imhotep was Anck Su Namun in a black dress. She gasped a breath of air and opened her eyes. She saw Imhotep and said with relief, "Imhotep!"

Imhotep embraced her and said with passion in his voice, "Anck Su Namun. I've missed you so."

Robin took a deep breath before he fell to his knees. He said through his tried breaths, "I guess my time in this world is done. Who knows, maybe I was already dead. Maybe that explosion did kill me and my spirit had enough strength to grant me one final adventure. Well I got to meet some of my favorite fictional characters as well as rewrite a story to make it just a little better."

Eve turned to O'Connell and said, "Rick! What is happening to Robin!? I… I can almost see right through him!"

Robin smiled and said, "Thanks for the adventure my new friends. In fact. You were the only friends I ever had."

Eve had tears in her eyes and the final words that Robin heard were, "Who are you?"
