Chapter Eight: Well, That Backfired
JD and Betty drove to the police station in Martha's car.
"So," Betty said, trying to break up the awkward silence. "How long have you known about Ronnie's crush on you?"
"Since I received the poem in my locker," JD replied. "I noticed her handwriting in Advanced History the day before. Plus, I fought Kurt and Ram for her the day before."
"So, why didn't you say a-"
"Oh look, we're here!" JD interrupted, changing the subject.
"Mr. Sawyer must be the only one here," Betty said, noticing that Charlie's car was the only one in the parking lot.
"So this should be easy then," JD said. "Use your connection to Mr. Sawyer, get the knife, easy peasy."
"Do you know how criminal investigations work?" Betty asked.
"No more than you know about driving," JD replied, as he parked the car. "That's right, I've seen how you drive."
Betty sighed. "Just, honk the horn twice if you see anything, ok?"
JD smirked, knowing that he won the argument. "What's your plan, Finn?" He asked, referring to Betty by her last name.
"Don't worry about it," Betty said with fake confidence. "I got this, yeah," she said, albeit more to herself than JD.
Betty then got out of the car and walked towards the police station.
JD sighed. "I've got a bad feeling about this."
"Mr. Sawyer, help me!" Betty cried as she entered the police station.
"What's going on, Betty?! You were spotted with the Shredder," Charlie said while approaching Betty.
"He-he kidnapped us! He made us drive him. I-I escaped, but he followed me here."
"Wait, he's here?"
Betty nodded. "Outside, behind the station."
"Ok, ok," Charlie said. "J-just, stay here, ok?"
Betty nodded. "Hide under my desk," Charlie instructed her.
Betty did as she was told and Charlie went outside.
"Ok," Betty said, getting out of her hiding position. "Time to do a little digging."
Shortly after Betty and JD left the house, the others (minus the Shredder) decided to watch The Princess Bride to pass the time.
Martha was in the kitchen prepping the snack food, while Veronica sat in the living room watching the movie.
"That nasty stare doesn't scare me," Veronica said as the Shredder continued to look at her.
"Ok dude, I know it's weird to be looking at someone else in your body," Veronica said a few seconds later. "But you've seriously got to stop."
The Shredder then looked down at his left foot, which was moving in circles.
"What? You got dirt in there or something?" Veronica asked as she approached the Shredder. She took the shoe off, only for a pocketknife to fall out.
The Shredder immediately stood up (as best as he could), and charged into Veronica, both falling on the floor. He covered Veronica's with his (technically her) legs, while grabbing the pocketknife with his unbroken left hand. He quickly used it to cut the ropes off of his hands. He then removed the mouth gag, before changing his position to set his feet free.
Once he got done, the Shredder removed the seat, while covering Veronica's mouth. He then got on top of her, knife in hand.
"I was starting to get tired of that body anyway."
"I made cookies!" Martha sang as she entered the living room.
Needless to say, she got serious once she saw the Shredder getting ready to kill Veronica.
"AH!" Martha screamed, while throwing the tray of cookies at the Shredder. It knocked him off of Veronica enough for her to move him aside before getting up.
"WE NEED TO GO!" Veronica yelled to Martha as she ran towards the front door.
"ON IT!" Martha replied, before heading outside with her.
Once they left, the Shredder was able to get off the floor.
You won't get away that easy. The Shredder thought as he ran after them.
