My Little Arrival

Ch.9: Search

As the sun turned to night, Rainbow Dash had driven me home in her own way- fast but also cautiously. There were other cars with humans in them, after all. The others followed silently, Luna smiling. This was not her night, but she believed whoever crafted it had beautiful taste.

As we arrived, I took a deep breath, exhaling with a smile. "Okay, I think its better if I go in alone. I know the storage container the glasses are in."

Rarity nodded. "Of course! I mean, we shouldn't intrude on your property."

Applejack chuckled. "Lest we be called illegals or something." The group chuckled silently as I walked up my steps, and inside. There is not much to the house, the first story being what you would expect- A living room, kitchen, dining room, Mom and Dad's room, and our rec room. I decided to say hello to them before going upstairs. I found them in the living room, watching Tru TV- World's Dumbest Criminals.

"Hi David" Dad smiled. He looked his part, wearing a simple pair of red shorts and his Chicago Cubs jersey. I smiled slyly, seeing the pipe in his hand. Him and Mom were getting "inspiration."

"" Hi Dad. Sorry if I got home late. A few friends wanted to hang out" I said smoothly. I hated that I had to lie, but I had no choice. Mom and Dad would know about what was going on, but I wanted it to wait. Mom nodded, wearing a blue night dress. "No problem honey. Did you get your homework done?"

I nodded. "Got it done in last period." The two nodded, but as I left, a burning question entered their minds. What was I not saying?

I smiled as I entered my room. At the time, it was nestled in between my bathroom and our hallway closet on the second floor. It was lived in, though I was good about picking up after myself. Striding over to my closet, I opened the door, smiling as I found the storage container titled "Family."

As I brought it to my bed, I heard a car pull into my driveway. I did not know then who it was, that indeed it was my best friend, Kayla. The Kayla who had saved me from bullies. Who was shorter than me but had a heart of gold.

Kayla smiled, turning off the ignition and stepping out. She wore a leather jacket, a white T-shirt, and blue jeans. Her dad had been working class and she tended to follow his example. She looked to see Princess Celestia trotting over. "Are you friends with David?"

Kayla blinked. In her time around me, she had seen many things. She never expected two Alicorns, one robot, one Pegasus, and four girls of varying colors to be standing in my yard, let alone an honest to God dragon. That is one Kayla's strengths, however. Taking life's great circumstances in stride.

She nodded. "Yup. I came to see if he was home."

Rainbow Dash nodded. "Upstairs."

Kayla smiled, raising an overconfident eyebrow at the robot. "We gotta race sometime." Rainbow narrowed her eyes, indicating the challenge was accepted.

With that, Kayla walked in. My parents smiled and waved. They, like me, had known Kayla for four years. She was over constantly, whether it be for homework sessions, to play video games, or even smoke. The state of Michigan gave us both Medical Marijuana cards. I had extreme social anxiety, and Kayla a bad knee from falling out of a tree when she was six.

Mom smirked once Kayla was out of earshot. "Scot, I give them days before they're together."

Dad shook his head. "Nah. A few months. I'll bet you $5 on it."

The deal was made. The dice was cast.

I looked up, seeing Kayla coming into the room. In my opinion, she looked as pretty as ever. She has a confidence about her, while also knowing who she is. She's not a rich girl, she just. Is Kayla.

Sitting down next to me, Kayla watched me pull out an eye glass container, amused. "Need your old glasses?"

I shook my head. "My Great-Grandfathers."

What I should mention is my parents had silently crept behind Kayla, wanting to be nosy. I am not one to hide things, but still, they wanted their son happy. Needless to say, they very much approved of Kayla. I opened the glasses, smiling down at the black wired rims. "They're right here. Let's get going."

"To where?" Kayla asked. I did not notice that Luna had flown up to my opened window, wanting an update on the search. Mom and Dad opened the door, seeing all of this.

Dad stepped forward, calm. High too. He knew about Fluttershy and did not mind that she could talk. He had seen many weird things in his time. But this new pony, plus me digging out my Great-Grandfather's glasses….

He cleared his throat. "Can someone tell me what's going on?"
