Chapter Plot:

HIbari and Chrome becomes a couple and Mukuro is not happy about it. The family is happy for them though, just surprised. After all, Hibari Kyoya bit everyone to death.

Target 01. Unexpected Strongest Pair

Chrome felt disappointment seeping inside her whole being. She thought that they could get along despite their arguments and rivalry. After all, being a part of the strongest mafia family and receiving the kindness of their boss, made them mellow a bit.

It was still an achievement though.

However, she was proved wrong as the two important people in her life battle in front of her, Vongola boxes in hand and flames activated. Weapons clashed with one another, creating an invisible wave of strong and intimidating power around the people in the room.

She could hear the rest of her family tried to put a stop to the terrible two's actions.

"STOP FIGHTING IN FRONT OF THE TENTH YOU TWO! OR ELSE I'LL BOMBED YOU!"

"Maa maa, Hayato, don't do that or the meeting room will be blasted to smithereens before the two would."

"Yare yare… This is not what we're here for isn't it?"

"THEY ARE STILL EXTREMELY NOT LISTENING!"

"Good luck with the repairs of the meeting room for the fifth time this month, Tsuna nii…"

She heard a frustrated sigh. She felt bad for their boss for dealing with this. She had to help him. After all, she was part of the problem and why was this thing was happening right in front of their eyes.

That… and she was also beginning to get really annoyed.

She was the boss' shy mist guardian, but she could also speak her mind when she wanted to. It was one of the perks that she learned after joining this family.

And so, without fear, only registering their boss' call of her name, she continued to walk towards the two men fighting, a trident in hand. It was the same design as her counterpart, with the difference of the other end, having only one blade instead of three. Her name was also engraved in its body. It was a gift from their boss when she officially became his Mist Guardian.

The two fighting men readied for a final attack... but paused when they saw the female mist stood between them, with eyes closed.

"Kufufu~ what might be the meaning of this, my dear Chrome?"

"Move now so I could bite the pineapple bastard to death."

"Who do you think calling a pineapple bastard, you psycho skylark."

"I will definitely bite you to death even if you beg me not to."

"No stealing of line, Hibari Kyoya."

"Back at you, Rokudo Mukuro."

Chrome's fists clenched and bit her lip. Raising her head, she glared at the two of them.

"No one's biting the other to death, and no one will do the begging." She began. "And will you please stop acting like two little kids in the park? You're both grown men for God's sake!"

A silence met Chrome's declaration. But she wasn't done yet.

She met the look of her counterpart.

"Mukuro-sama, I know you're not a fan of Kyoya. You two are rivals ever since we're middle schoolers, but I love him. I love him so much that I couldn't bear to not be by his side. I thought you will be happy for me, but I thought wrong."

She faced Kyoya next and saw his straight face, but she knew that he already had an idea of what she was about to say, and she wouldn't deny it.

"Kyoya, I know you don't like Mukuro-sama and you want to bite him to death every chance you get, but he is an important existence to me. If it weren't for him, I would have died. If he wasn't there, I wasn't here either. He saved my life. I thought you would have it in your heart to consider that… but I guess I just hang onto false hope."

She addressed both men this time, changing glances from one to another.

"I know you cannot get along all the time, but will you please act like adults in each other's presence for once? I'm very disappointed with the both of you."

The silence still penetrated in the room. No one said a word. The rest of their family waited for the two men to say something, to reason out to their petite female mist, but they stood still, staring at Chrome.

The one-eyed female sighed in frustration and stepped out of the door, closing it behind her.

All eyes stared at the now closed door.

The silence was broken now by their boss who was worried about his guardian. He considered her as a little sister, so he was concern of what she really felt right now. After all, she was strong, but a little sensitive and soft-hearted.

Tsuna sighed and stepped forward, addressing his mist and cloud guardians.

"Kyoya, Mukuro, I share Chrome's sentiments. It was disappointing to see you act like this. After everything she had experienced, especially since she was a child, I hate to see her sad and in pain. I knew you understand this because you care for her. And if you do, I suggest you both have a self-reflection of how you are going to fix this problem and make Chrome happy again. Am I making myself clear here?"

The rest of their family shuddered at Tsuna's boss mode tone. It was different of their friend's usual gentle and kind tone. He used it every time for work, as the strongest mafia's boss, but rarely at times, he applied it to their family members specially to stop fighting amongst the guardians.

And if he used it at this time, this meant, "Do what I said, or a punishment is in order."

Hayato couldn't get but feel pride and stared at their boss in adoration. Takeshi grinned with his crossed arms at the back of his head. Lambo crossed his arms with a smirk. Ryohei nodded with sparkling eyes and a wide grin that could break his jaw. Fuuta smiled knowingly.

Tsuna's tutor, Reborn, now in the body of an eleven-year-old boy after his student helped release his and his friends curse of the Arcobaleno, just smirked. He was glad to see the influence he had in his student.

I've taught you well, Vongola Decimo.

The two addressed men closed their Vongola boxes and kept their weapons hidden from view.

Mukuro took a chance and looked at Decimo, who stared back at him. "Kufufu~ I hate it when you use that tone on me, Sawada Tsunayoshi."

"If you hate it, then don't make me use it all the time."

Well, he has a point there.

"Anyhow, I'll take your advice then and leave now. Does that make you happy, Vongola Decimo?"

"Yes, thank you, Mukuro. You may leave now."

The pineapple-haired guardian disappeared in a smoke of indigo mist.

Tsuna stared at Kyoya this time and found the cloud guardian walking away without another word. He sighed.

"Kyoya, where are you going?"

He stopped and faced his boss. "I don't take orders from you, omnivore."

The Vongola boss rolled his eyes. Typical Kyoya. He said that but his body language said otherwise. He could see he couldn't wait to see Chrome.

"I'll talk to Chrome first. Do what I ask you, or you'll regret it. I don't want you two fighting because of this. Got that?"

The strongest guardian faltered and turned around. "Hn."

With that, he left the room.

Tsuna crossed his arms and sighed. "Those two…"

"Tenth, are you okay?" His right-hand man and storm guardian asked. He faced his other family members in the room with a smile.

"Yeah, I'm fine. Just tired."

"Don't worry Tsuna, those two will be fine and I'm sure, Chrome too." The ever happy-go-lucky rain guardian and swordsman, Takeshi piped in with a grin.

"However, this EXTREME news is surprising..."

"Yeah, who would've thought that Kyoya nii and Chrome nee are…" the young nineteen-year-old Fuuta said.

"Surprising since Kyo-san looks hard to figure out. As expected of Chrome nee." Fifteen-year-old Lambo commented with a smile on his face.

"Anyway," Tsuna stepped in. "I'll check on Chrome for now. You guys go back to work. Thank goodness the meeting room survived another day."

"Yes, Tenth! Leave all the work matters to me. Don't worry!" the loyal storm guardian declared. The boss smiled. "Thanks Hayato. I'll leave it to you then. Takeshi," he looked at his rain. "If you're not busy, please help Hayato. A lot of paperwork will be coming in today."

The said rain saluted with a grin. "Roger that, Tsuna."

He noticed his right hand man's twitch of the eye but didn't say anything, to which he smiled gratefully in return. The rest of their family left the room to do what he said. Reborn, who was the only one left, smirked at him.

"Sounds rough, eh, Dame Tsuna?"

"Don't call me that just for fun, Reborn."

"Why? You're still dame in my eyes."

"Even after becoming Vongola Decimo?

"You still have a lot to learn even after a million years, Dame Tsuna."

He shook his head. Another typical day with his Tutor.

"Worried about Chrome?" the former Arcobaleno asked, and Tsuna glanced at him. "Yeah, a little."

"She'll be fine. She wasn't your mist guardian and HIbari's chosen partner for nothing."

The Vongola boss couldn't help but smile at that. "Yeah, you're right."

Chrome sat on a bench just outside the balcony connected to the mansion's living room. Living in Italy in the Vongola mansion, with the Family had been a great experience to her. She wasn't used to it, and she was afraid at first, but Mukuro was coming too, and her boss was really kind to her and assured her that everything would be fine. It also helped that Takeshi and Lambo were getting used in talking to her. She was also happy since Bianchi, Kyoko and Haru were included in the Family thus flying with them to Italy at the end of their high school graduation.

The female sighed and looked at the sky whose brightness were due to the sun. It was probably nine or ten in the morning, having the meeting early was because their boss said that they had so many things to do in the afternoon.

Oh yeah, the meeting.

Chrome couldn't help but feel sadness and disappointment with how the things turned out back there. She was expecting everyone to be happy, congratulating them, teasing Kyoya a little bit, a little banter between him and Mukuro-sama in consideration of her but she was wrong.

So… so wrong.

The rest of the family were happy for them, that was for sure, aside from her counterpart, and that set Kyoya off to begin with.

If she knew this would happen, she shouldn't have let herself fall in love with the Cloud guardian.

She shook her head. No. She loves him, and she never regretted accepting his affection for her either. She was happy with him and she knew she would die if something bad ever happened to him.

It was just making her sad that they couldn't get along but what could she have done? She could never choose between them.

They were both important to her and she loved them dearly.

Her joined hands on her lap trembled and felt the incoming tears in her eyes.

"Chrome?" she turned around and regretted it, since her boss' concern facial expression changed into one of horror.

He hated it when the female members of his family shed tears.

He urgently sat next to her and gripped her hands on her lap. "Chrome, are you okay? Something hurting? Why are you crying?"

She couldn't help but chuckle, but that was apparently a wrong move, because Tsuna panicked even more.

"Chrome!?"

"I'm fine boss, no injury. Promise." Tsuna sighed.

"Okay, but why are you crying?"

She faced the sky again. "These are just tears of frustration. It will pass."

Tsuna's face showed understanding and sympathy. "Chrome…"

"I know… that it won't be easy… especially since they were not really close but… I just thought they'll be better for me."

The boss patted her shoulder. "I know Chrome, but you know…" the female mist turned to him, and he smiled, knowing she was listening to him.

"Those two are tough and full of pride. They love you too much to give you up to the other, and so they acted just like that. That's how they are. I'm sure they will realize soon what they had done and will try to get along for you, because they love you and they care for you."

"Boss…"

"And of course, us too. I'm so happy that you finally found that one person who makes you happy and loves you unconditionally."

Chrome sniffed. "Boss, thank you for always being here for me." She gratefully moved to embrace him, wrapping her arms around his torso. Tsuna let her and hugged her in return with a smile.

"You don't have to thank me, I'll always be here for you, my little sister."

The female mist buried herself deeper in her boss' warm embrace. She was so happy to know that many people care about her, aside from those two. She was relieved to know that whatever happens, this person and their family would do anything to make sure she was safe and happy.

She would do the same for him and this family because they made her feel at home and happy.

Suddenly, they heard a noise and found Hibari Kyoya standing right by the balcony entrance, staring at them. Chrome left Tsuna's embrace and stood, facing him.

"Kyoya…"

At the sound of her voice, he fell into step in front of her, and touched her cheek, which was still filled with tears from her eyes. His touch was soft and gentle, and Chrome held his with her right hand, gazing at his eyes in return.

"Chrome, forgive me for earlier. I cannot promise not to fight with the pineapple head, but I will try my best to not bite him to death. Is that enough for you?"

The woman smiled at him, and she could feel the sincerity in his voice, despite his straight-faced expression. "Yes, and that makes me happy. Thank you, Kyoya."

Both gazed at each other's eyes and Tsuna couldn't help but smile. He could see that Kyoya, in his own way, cared for Chrome and was willing to compromise for her, which was very out of character for him.

As a boss and friend, he was proud of him and Chrome too, for she was the reason he became like this.

An indigo mist appeared by the balcony and Mukuro appeared, with his trident in hand. "Mukuro-sama!" Chrome faced her Mist counterpart and Tsuna at this point, stood to see his Mist Guardian's eyes moved from Chrome to his rival.

"My dear Chrome… I hope you forgive me for what happened back then. It's a given we will always fight with one another, but I can assure you that I will try to get along with the skylark. Is that alright with you?"

Chrome's eyes widened and a gentle smile played in her lips. "Mukuro-sama… thank you. I'm so happy to hear that."

"Kufufufu~ But if he makes you cry and hurt you, I will never hold back." He threatened, staring at Hibari Kyoya.

"That will never happen, Rokudo Mukuro." Kyoya said.

His tone was full of determination that Tsuna knew Mukuro understood that Kyoya's promise was true and sincere.

He smirked by the sidelines, watching the three members of his family interact, and he was very satisfied with Chrome's giddy and happy smile, and he was sure, the male Mist Guardian and Cloud Guardian was same as him.

"Boss…" her voice trailed to him, causing him to look at her.

"Yes?"

"You're right, boss. Thank you for cheering me up."

Tsuna smiled. "No problem. You know I hate it when you're not your happy self. I'm happy for you. Congratulations you two." He glanced at Kyoya at this. "I'm sure he will take care of you, Chrome."

"Yes, I trust him."

"As you should."

They both chuckled.

"If someone touch just even Chrome's hair, I will bite them all to death."

"Let me join you in that."

Chrome and Tsuna's eyes met each other's and laughed. They probably didn't realize it, but they had something in common, and because of that, they could get along well.

They were men with few words and fighting maniacs, but the family loved them for who they were as much as these two also loved the family.

And Tsuna, as the Family's boss and head, wouldn't have them any other way.
