REPLY TO REVIEWS:

Ilovecartoonsgirl – I'm glad you like it. I love Chrome and Hibari together as well as Hibari and Mukuro's rivalry. Thanks for the review! Hope you'll like this chapter too.

Note: I'm going to use the original endearments of the characters with each other, 'kay? Like for example, Tsuna calls Kyoko 'Kyoko-chan' and Kyoko calls her brother, 'Onii-chan'. That would remain, to maintain the essence of the stories; however, I'll make sure not to use too much Japanese terms here and in the future chapters. As for Gokudera, I had him call Tsuna 'Tenth' instead of 'Juudaime'.

Disclaimer: I don't own Katekyo Hitman Reborn. Amano Akira-sensei, thank you so much for the wonderful people you've made. A reboot or a sequel will be very much appreciated. (grins)

Chapter Plot:

Tsuna plans to confess to Kyoko but said girl was kidnapped by an enemy famiglia causing Tsuna to have second thoughts. —2795—

Setting: Third year 1st semester, after the manga

Target 02. Unusual Confessions

Sawada Tsunayoshi, the boss-in-training of the strongest mafia family, Vongola, was nervously walking towards the gym. He had his friend and long-time crush, Sasagawa Kyoko meet him there, for he had decided.

He will confess to her, on his own, without the help of his tutor from hell.

Reborn had been called out by his fellow former Arcobalenos for their annual meeting. Yes, even though they weren't cursed anymore, they still make it a routine to meet up, as per Yuni's wishes. She wanted to see the group on how they were doing, because after everything, they were friends.

And so, his spartan tutor was out of his sight for today, and he would like to use this chance to confess to his crush.

After all the challenges and fights that the young boss had experienced, believe it or not, he got a little bit of self-confidence. He also realized that they were friends, and Kyoko will listen to him for sure. She might reject him, and he braced himself for that. He just really wanted to get this out of his chest before he could burst.

If he did not do anything, Reborn would use the dying will bullet again, and that would be disastrous!

So, after letting his best friends know his plans, they both sent him with a grin and a good luck.

"That's great, Tenth! I'm sure you'll be fine!" Gokudera, ever his self-proclaimed right hand proudly declared as he grinned at his most respected boss.

"You got this, Tsuna! Good luck!" Yamamoto, his lax and cheerful left hand man widely grinned as he patted his shoulder while cheering him on.

Tsuna smiled softly at them. "Thanks guys."

Come to think of it, he didn't have any friend before that he could confide with these things but now, he was happy that those two, as much as they always banter and fight, still stuck with him, through thick and think and cheered for him.

He didn't want anything to do with the mafia, but he would never give up his guardians that he called friends.

"Let me go!"

His musings were cut short when he heard Kyoko's voice. It sounded panicked. He rushed behind the gym and his eyes widened. Sasagawa Kyoko stood there with three men in black, one of them holding her hand. It looked like they were forcing her to come with them.

Without hesitation, he ran. "Kyoko-chan!"

The orange short-haired girl looked over at him, and with worried eyes, screamed his name. "Tsuna-kun!"

The men in black suits followed suit and smirked. "Oh, if it isn't Vongola Decimo." Said the blond-haired man, with bulky body.

Tsuna ignored him and ran towards Kyoko, determined to save her from these people that he was sure connected to Mafia, but the person holding her pulled her, causing the orangenette to grunt.

"Give her back!" the brown-haired boss-in-training said. The men knew he was panicking. Their realized that their boss was correct. This girl held importance to the young boss of the strongest mafia family.

"We're giving her back if you come with us. If you don't follow us, there will be dire consequences, Decimo." The other man, with black hair and squinted eyes ordered, and Tsuna bit his lip. He stared at Kyoko, who was shaking her head no. She knew everything regarding the Vongola Family since he already told her in the future. She knew how important the Mafia family and how dangerous it was. She knew Tsuna was the incoming boss of the Vongola, and Reborn was tutoring him to succeed the family.

Kyoko knew that if they had Tsuna and kill him, the family will suffer, and she couldn't let that happen.

"No, Tsuna-kun!"

"Kyoko-chan…"

"You don't have a say in this, girlie." The last man who was sporting a long hair, bit as he pushed the girl towards the bulky man. "Shut her up Vince, before I get annoyed and kill her."

"Roger, Captain."

"Kyoko-chan!" Tsuna was getting his mitten gloves from his pocket but was stopped by a click of a gun. "Don't move." the man with squinted eyes glared at the Decimo. "Transform or the girl will get killed."

Tsuna clenched his fist and sighed in frustration. "Drop those mittens of yours, kid," the captain said, "…and give me those dying will pills you have."

The Tenth leader of Vongola's eyes widened in surprised. "How—"

"How did we know that?" the captain laughed. "Ha! We have all the information about you and your guardians. We did our research."

Tsuna hesitated, and the captain, seeing this, snapped his finger. Vince hit Kyoko's back of the neck and the girl fainted.

"Kyoko-chan! What do you think you are—"

"I told you that there will be consequences if you don't do what we say." The Captain sneered at him. "You don't have a choice here, Vongola Decimo."

The future Vongola boss stared at him and then his gaze when to the unconscious girl.

I can't let them hurt Kyoko-chan!

Tsuna dropped his mitten gloves and reached for his dying will pills. Upon seeing it, the Captain stole it from him. The brown-haired boy glared at him. "I'll come with you, just leave Kyoko-chan alone!"

The captain smirked, and before Tsuna knew, he was hit at the back of his neck as well.

Before he lost consciousness, all he could think of was to save the orange haired girl.

A foul stench was the first thing Tsuna noticed when he woke up. He rose his head and sat, leaning on a hard cold wall. His head ached and the distant sound of pitter patter of droplets was the only thing he could registered at the moment. He breathed in deeply, ignoring the unpleasant smell around him. He figured that he needed the air in his lungs to regain the consciousness of his mind.

After a while, he tried to remember what happened despite his headache. I was going to the gym to meet Kyoko-chan… and then…

His eyes widened. That's right! Kyoko-chan!

He looked around, trying to find the girl and breathed in relief when he saw her sitting on a chair, tied up and still unconscious. It was temporary though, when he saw one of those men from before coming up to her. The man with squinted eyes shook her and Tsuna stood.

Or at least tried.

He failed to notice that his feet were tied so when he tried to stand, he lost his balance and fell face first on the floor.

The sound of his fall alerted the people in the room, and the bulky man from before laughed. "The Vongola Decimo is awake! And he fell on his face!"

Tsuna clenched his teeth. His face hurt but he couldn't waste his time complaining about that now. He had to do something regarding the situation or else, Kyoko will get hurt.

And that was the last thing he wanted to happen.

He tried to sit once again, breathing heavily. Vince, the bulky man moved towards him with a chair, forcibly pulled him on his feet and sat him on the said chair.

"Poor you, Decimo." The captain said, entering the scene, while Vince was tying the future boss' hands behind the chair, successfully stopping his movements.

The captain stepped towards Kyoko and gave a signal to Vince to wake up the girl. "I've been shaking her for a while now, but she won't budge." The bulky man said, glancing at the future boss.

The captain smirked evilly, seeing what his subordinate meant. Might as well torment the young future boss. "You may slap her awake if you want."

As predicted, Tsuna's eyes widened and tried to stand, causing him to almost fall again if it weren't for the other man with him, pulling him up. It would be interesting for the Decimo to see the girl being slapped awake, right?

"Stop it! You don't have to do that!"

His pleas fell on deaf ears as Vince repeatedly patted the girl's right cheek. The more it was patted, the stronger it was so Kyoko felt the pain, and opened her eyes.

"W-Where am I?"

"Kyoko-chan!"

Hearing his voice, the orange-haired girl gasped and remembered what exactly happened before she lost consciousness. "Tsuna-kun!"

She tried to move but like Tsuna, her feet and hands were tied on the floor and behind the chair respectively.

"Let me go! What do you want from us?" the girl asked, glaring at the men. The Captain whistled with a smirk. "Woah, what a courageous girl. Is she one of the candidates for the role of the Lady of Vongola, young Decimo?" he sneered at Tsuna who was biting his lip. He ignored this remark because his mind was focused on how they would get out of this situation.

If only he could save Kyoko, he didn't care what would happen to him. This was his fault in the first place. If he hadn't called her out, she wouldn't have been kidnapped with him. She wouldn't have to deal with this danger.

Being friends, or even just knowing him, already put her in danger. More so if she became his girlfriend!

Suddenly, Tsuna thought that confessing to her wasn't a good idea anymore.

Ah, no use blaming himself now. All he could do was save Kyoko from them, and fast.

He heard Kyoko's scream and his eyes widened when he noticed her lying form on the ground, with the chair.

The bulky man probably kicked the chair she was in.

Kyoko was pulled off the ground, sitting on the chair. She was breathing heavily, and a trail of blood could be seen on the side of her cheek.

"Kyoko-chan, are you okay?"

The girl was trembling, but she knew she had to be strong for them both. She would never let these people have the satisfaction of seeing their pain.

"I'm fine, Tsuna-kun!"

The young boss knew that was a lie to reassure him. He had to hurry!

"Hey! Stop it! I'm all you need right? Leave her alone!"

"Oh?" the captain faced him. "No way, we need all of the people associated to you because we knew… they are your weakness." He smirked. "Isn't that right, Sawada Tsunayoshi?"

The future Vongola boss bit his lip. These people really did their research.

"Your famiglia is important to you. But you know…" the captain stepped closer to Kyoko and rose her chin. "This girl seemed more important than the rest."

He chuckled darkly when he heard the young boy sucked in a breath. "I wonder why?"

Tsuna couldn't say it. He couldn't tell this person that Kyoko was more than just a friend or famiglia to him. She was much more… important than that. He loved her for as long as he could remember, probably since he saw her on their first day of school.

He couldn't, or else he was sure they would hurt her because of him. But he couldn't also tell them that she wasn't important to him. He couldn't lie in front of the girl.

"Why is that, Vongola Decimo?" the captain asked. "Who is this girl to you?"

Tsuna's eyes widened, and Kyoko stared at him worriedly. "Tsuna-kun…"

He knew the answer to that very well but…

"Aww… aren't you going to say anything, Decimo?" the captain said. "Very well then, Vince…"

The said man looked at his captain.

"Kill the girl."

Tsuna and Kyoko's eyes widened.

"Wait! It doesn't matter what she is to me! I am what you need so leave her alone!"

"No can do, Vongola Decimo. She knew about us. Even if she's not of importance to you, she still had to die here."

The young boss clenched his teeth and tried to move. "Kyoko-chan!"

"Stop! Don't hurt her!"

"Why, Vongola Decimo?"

"Because…" Tsuna glared at the captain. "Because I love her! She meant the world to me!"

Kyoko gasped and her orange orbs widened.

"If you hurt her, you're going to regret it." He said in a low voice. His eyes were hidden by his bangs.

The captain laughed. "Young love, eh? I knew it!" He pulled a gun out of his black coat and pointed it toward the girl, who was still surprised with the young boy's confession. "That's good news! We are right in kidnapping this girl! Now because of you, she will die here, you will suffer and the Vongola Famiglia's prosperity will stop here!"

Kyoko stared at the gun pointed at her head. She closed her eyes and prayed that someone will save them.

"You're unlucky, little lady, being associated with the mafia. Now, DIE!"

The young girl bit her lip, and waited for her doom, but it never came. She felt warmth nearby, and she willed herself to open her eyes. Her now wide orange orbs had tears in them when she realized who had just saved her life.

"Tsuna-kun…"

The said young Vongola boss stood in front of her, flame on his forehead, with a flame on his fisted right hand. He opened his hand, showing the melted bullet on his palm.

The captain's eyes widened. "How did you—" he stuttered. "You shouldn't be able to do that without the dying will pills!"

Tsuna glared at him. "I don't need the dying will pills. My flames are always with me, as long as I have my dying will!" he punched the captain with his flames still ablaze.

The man flew far from the Sky boss, losing consciousness immediately. Tsuna faced the two men left and raised his blazing right hand. He flew to them and hit the back of their necks consecutively, causing them to lose consciousness.

Tsuna moved to Kyoko, and burned the ropes a little, causing them to undone. When the girl was finally saved, his dying will flame faded.

His large brown orbs searched the girl's orange ones, silently asking if she was alright. The girl understood the young boy's concern and she gave him a small smile.

"I'm fine, Tsuna-kun. Thank you for saving me."

"Are you sure, Kyoko-chan?"

"Yes. What about you?" the orangenette checked him out for injuries when they both stood. She noticed the burns on his right hand and gasped. "Tsuna-kun!"

"Eh?"

Kyoko touched his hand, but Tsuna winced upon contact. "Why do you have these burns, Tsuna-kun? This is the first time I saw you with burns after using your flames!"

"Probably because I'm not wearing my gloves, and I touched the flames directly with my hand." He mused with a smile. "But I'm fine, don't worry!"

"No! you're not fine! Let's get out of here and heal those burns!"

"Ah, okay."

As soon as they got out of the warehouse where they were held, they heard their friends calling out to them.

"Tenth!"

"Tsuna!"

"Kyoko!"

"Ah, Onii-chan!"

"Everyone!"

Gokudera shook the shoulder of his boss worriedly. "Tenth! Are you alright? We were so worried when we saw your gloves on the ground behind the gym!"

"G-Gokudera-kun, I'm fine so please stop that… I'm getting dizzy…"

"Ah, I'm so sorry, Tenth!"

"You were late, so we checked out on you behind the gym and well, we kinda panicked when we saw your gloves." Yamamoto explained. "What happened, Tsuna?"

"Ah, well… we were kidnapped by an enemy famiglia."

"What?" his three guardians snapped. The sun guardian checked out his sister for injuries worriedly. "Are you okay, Kyoko?"

"I'm fine, Onii-chan, but Tsuna-kun burned his hand!" she pointed to the young boy's right hand. She couldn't touch it in case she hurt him again. "We have to send him to the hospital!"

The guardians gasped at the burns on their friends' hand. After all, this was the first time Tsuna got this ever since he could use his flames.

"Let's go then!"

"That's unnecessary." A tiny voice was heard. They all looked behind them and saw the former Arcobaleno in his still five-year-old body. After all, only a month had passed since the curse was lifted, and it was still a long time before their body change.

"Reborn!"

"What do you mean, Reborn-san?"

"They're already here."

Three black cars and a limousine stopped in front of the warehouse and people went out and walked towards them.

"Yo, Tsuna."

"Dino-san!" Tsuna looked at the person he considered an older brother. "Why are you here?"

The said boss of Cavallone smiled. "Reborn called me." His eyes widened at the burns on his hand. "Tsuna, did you touch your flames?"

The brown-haired boy rubbed the back of his neck using his left hand. "Well, yes, I did."

The Cavallone boss stared at him like he had grown another head. He would have to scold him later, but for now, these burns needed to be tended to. He faced his subordinate. "Romario, take care of Tsuna."

"Yes, boss."

Tsuna was pulled away from the scene with Kyoko, since she had a small cut at the side of her head, hidden by her hair. Before leaving though, Kyoko managed to tell them what happened and where to find their kidnappers. After she explained, her brother told one of Dino's subordinates to take care of her. Once she was out of sight, his overprotectiveness came out.

"I'll show them! How dare them hurt my sister!"

"I'll bombed them repeatedly that they will regret touching the Tenth!"

"Not if I got to them first."

Reborn smirked darkly as he led the group inside the warehouse. He feared for the three men who dared hurt the members of their Famiglia. Not only because the three guardians were to do something about it, but also, because he himself, would give them a piece of his mind that they would regret they ever lived.

Dino stared at Tsuna's Famiglia and smirked. "You're really well-loved, Tsuna."

After Romario bandaged his hand, Tsuna was told to take a break. He sat alone at the back of the limo they brought. It had been a long day, and he was tired. Both physically and mentally. The pain of burn on his hand distracted him earlier, but now that the pain had numbed, he couldn't help but think of what happened in the warehouse.

He had indirectly confessed to Kyoko.

He had imagined every possible romantic way of confessing to her, but he never thought that it would be in the presence of their enemy who kidnapped them.

He sighed. It was never really the same ever since Reborn walked into his life. What did he expect? It was a losing battle, and he could never give himself a normal situation again.

He closed his eyes and let his mind drift. He wondered. What was Kyoko-chan's reaction back then? I didn't notice. I was focused on the leader. Was she surprised? Shocked? Disgusted?

Argh. All I can think are these negative thoughts.

A touch was felt on his bandaged skin. He opened his eyes in wonder and he gasped unconsciously to find the object of his thoughts in front of him with a worried gaze.

"Tsuna-kun?"

"Ah, Kyoko-chan!" He noticed the bandage around her forehead and the square-shaped bandage on her cheek. "Are you alright? Does it hurt?" he asked, eyeing her bandages.

She shook her head. "I'm alright. I could have asked you the same, Tsuna-kun."

"Me? I'm okay. These burns will heal in no time, don't worry."

"Is it painful?" she asked, a frown on her beautiful face.

He smiled. "A little, but it's tolerable now, compared to earlier."

"I'm glad."

Silence surrounded the two. Tsuna looked outside the window. The sun was setting into the horizon. It could've been romantic, but he didn't want to take any chances, especially after he realized that it wasn't a good idea to confess to her anymore. However, he wondered if she heard what he said earlier. If she did, he was sure that she would think it was a joke again, like the first time. He smiled sadly. It was always like that, and this time, it was fine.

Little did he know, the girl thought the opposite. She wanted to confirm if what he said was true, and if he did, well… she thought it would be fine to tell him what she felt, especially after what happened today.

"Tsuna-kun?" she faced him.

The young boss turned to her with a questioning glance. "What is it?"

"A-About earlier…" Kyoko breathed in and steeled her resolve. "Is it true? Do I really mean so much to you?"

Tsuna faltered and looked at his hand on his lap.

"Do you… really love me?"

He bit his lip. How could he lie to her? He couldn't. He just couldn't.

"I…" he sighed. "Yes… yes I love you, Kyoko-chan."

The girl's eyes widened for the second time, but Tsuna didn't see it. "But…"

She raised an eyebrow. "But?"

"But, I… I don't deserve you."

"What are you saying, Tsuna-kun?

"You're my sun. Your smile cheers me up. I loved you ever since the first time you showed me that smile. But… after today, I realized that I cannot be with you. If you're with me, you'll be facing a lot of danger, and you might be kidnapped again. They will use you to get to me, and I cannot let that happen."

Kyoko quietly listened to him, so Tsuna continued. "So, it's better if you stay away from me. Just… forget the mafia and Vongola, and you'll be safe, Kyoko-chan."

Silence.

The girl thought of what he said. She knew where he was coming from. He loved her, but he was afraid of her getting hurt because of him. After all, getting involved in the mafia is dangerous enough. However...

"Tsuna-kun, look at me."

He sighed and prepared himself to be left alone but regretted it soon because of the determined look in her orange eyes.

"Listen to me Tsuna-kun." She held both of his hand, being gentler and more careful with his right. "I don't like it when you put others first before your own. You should take care of yourself too!"

The young boy flinched.

"But you know, your kindness is one of the things I love most about you."

Tsuna's eyes widened. Did he hear it right?

"W-What did you—"

"I love you too, Tsuna-kun."

The young boss stared at the young girl in front him. The girl he liked for the whole part of his middle school. The girl who always gave him a smile even though he was a no-good student. The girl who cheered him on in everything they had to do in school and in mafia. The girl who stayed with him even though she knew every danger she had to deal with.

"K-Kyoko-chan…"

"Plus, my brother is your sun guardian so whether you like it or not, I'm part of this. So don't push me away just to protect me..."

Kyoko placed his left hand on her cheek, giving in to the warmth of his hand. She stared in his eyes. "…because I want to protect you too, in my own way."

With tears gathered in his eyes, threatening to fall any moment now, Tsuna smiled at her, and moved closer, touching his forehead to hers. It was the closest intimacy they had together, and it was enough for him.

Her words and this moment. It made him so overwhelmingly happy, his heart would burst.

"Kyoko-chan," he whispered, eyes closed. Tears streamed down his cheeks as he opened them, staring at the sparkling and bright orange orbs of the girl he loved. "Thank you."

"No, that's my line Tsuna-kun…" she closed her eyes as she whispered in return. "Thank you, for always protecting me and loving me so much."

They both smiled and stayed like that for a while, until they had to break the closeness between them when they heard a knock on the window. It was tainted black, so Tsuna wasn't afraid of being seen inside, unless Reborn did something again which didn't surprise him anymore.

Kyoko wiped away his tears and smiled. "I'll inform Onii-chan first about us, okay? You know how he is."

The young boss nodded.

Kyoko opened the car door and smiled in thanks at Reborn who was smirking. The girl knew the young hitman probably already knew and it wasn't surprising to her anymore for he always seemed to know everything.

"Reborn-kun, where's Onii-chan?"

"Oh, he was torturing the people inside the warehouse. If you don't stop him, he might kill them." He answered with a smirk.

"Oh no!" Kyoko got off the car and ran towards the warehouse. "Onii-chaaaan!"

With Kyoko off to the warehouse, Reborn went inside the car and sat next to his no-good student, who was staring outside the window.

"Dame-Tsuna."

"What?" his student replied without looking at him. Reborn noted the cheerfulness of his voice with that single word. After all, he knew Tsuna enough to read him.

"Did something good happen, Dame-Tsuna?"

"Hmm?"

Tsuna looked at him this time and smiled at his tutor. "Just that, I don't think I need your help with the red dying will bullet anymore."

"Oh, you mean to say that you finally confessed to Kyoko?"

Tsuna blushed and looked on his lap. "Well…"

"I'm correct, aren't I?" Reborn smirked. "Well done, then. Congratulations."

"Thanks!" The young boss grinned at his teacher. Reborn was taken aback. It was the first time he saw Tsuna like that. He was happy but there were still things to get in order.

"I'm happy for you, Tsuna, but I think you're forgetting something… or someone."

Tsuna raised an eyebrow but after a while, his eyes widened and the guilt in his eyes were visible. "Oh yeah, Haru."

"What are you planning now?" the former Arcobaleno asked. He knew he cared about Haru so he wasn't going to let this issue be, or else, both girls might get hurt because of him.

And he knew his student. He would never let that happen.

"I'll talk to Haru about this." His determined gaze wandered outside. "She has the right to know."

Reborn smiled. "Yeah, that's good. You've grown up a little bit, Dame-Tsuna."

The said Dame-Tsuna pouted. "I've grown up a little so will you please stop calling me that?"

"Yes so, you're still a no-good. I'll stop calling you that if I knew you deserve it."

"Perfectionist."

"Well, you've already shown me a little bit of maturity so I'm sure you'll get there."

"Whatever you say, Reborn."

Tsuna was happy that he finally had a closure with the girl he loved and now, he knew he had to explain things to Haru and make her understand his feelings.

But that would be for another day after taking a break.
