My Little Arrival

Ch.13: Lunar Talk

After that awkward moment, the rest of breakfast went well. During it, I got a text from Kayla. We had plans to go see a movie that next Friday, and she said she missed me. I rolled my eyes at Rainbow's jokes, and stepped outside, having seen the look Princess Luna was giving me- one of importance.

When I think of Princess Luna, I smile. Quiet and humble, that was her in a nutshell. She had erred, as do all. What was important is that she had made her amends and turned her back on who she was. Her past had not defined her.

Princess Luna smiled, walking over to me as I sat on our porch, painted red. My parents and the others were relaxing after breakfast. There were no plans really, other than keeping guard. The Legion could be anywhere.

"David" Luna said quietly, bringing her head down by mine, "What troubles you? Why not tell Kayla of your feelings?"

I looked at her, then down. She was sixteen feet tall, shorter than Celestia, but still imposing in her own right. A debate bounced around my head, like Senators arguing over a new piece of legislation. To this day, I don't know why, but as I looked up at Luna, I felt the urge to speak the truth.

I took a deep breath. "I've been friends with her for years. She is my best friend, and I am scared that I would scare her off if I confessed."

After a moment, Luna lit her horn, and a photo appeared above our heads. It was Homecoming the previous year, and Kayla and I had gone as friends, to my (and Kayla's moms) disappointment. Shortly after the dance, we were outside, holding hands as our friend Josh snapped the photo. We were happy, and I remembered then, looking at Kayla from the left corner of my eyes directly after. Kayla seemed to long for something more.

Luna smiled; her voice filled with encouragement. "Tell her, David. I should know well that keeping your emotions in can make you sick and make a problem much worse. Kayla longs for you dearly."

I considered for a moment, then stood. Luna blushed as I hugged her. "Thank you, Princess Luna" I said, bowing to her. Luna blinked, then bowed back. "Me and my sister will protect you and your kin, David. We must go for now, but we shall return."

I would find out much later why they left. But in the meantime, a friend would come over. Sometimes, you just need to listen to your heart.
