My Little Arrival

Ch.15: Capture

It all began an hour later. Kayla and I were standing by Fluttershy, who was preparing to leave. The six had business with the Princesses and had explained to not expect them back for a while.

"Now they can make out" Rarity grinned. Rarity huffed, pouting as Kayla responded with a single finger salute. Fluttershy smiled and went to take to the sky, only to turn back to us and nuzzle us, Mom, and Dad as well. She then blushed lightly, and left, her friends on her back. I did not realize it at the time, but when I saw Fluttershy again, it would be under unique and awesome circumstances.

Kayla and I were sitting on the porch. Her feet rested, barely touching the grass on the ground. I was sitting next to her. Mom and Dad were chatting on the porch. Everything seemed to be going as planned- laying low and enjoying life.

Then trust came to deceive the angel.

Mom looked up to see a familiar white Ford Fusion pulling into the driveway. I smiled, recognizing Amanda McConnel at once. She had been Kayla and I's Algebra teacher freshmen year. Tough but fair was her motto, yet she was not afraid to help her students.

Her Tennis shoes hit the soft grass below, and Amanda walked over with a big smile. It was charming really. With dark red Native American blood running through her veins, she stopped, resting a hand on the porches left side. "Hi Kayla! Hi David!"

Before we could respond, Dad stood. "Hello Amanda" he said, before excusing himself inside to grab a soda. The temperature was rising, being in the high sixties in that moment. Amanda refused when Dad offered her a soda, her Mormon faith guiding her against the consumption of soda. "So, kids, I was just in the neighborhood and was wondering- you kids want some ice cream from Dairy Queen?"

That was the hook. To me, no greater ice cream existed than Dairy Queen. Kayla responded by standing up, grabbing her purse, and walking over to wait by Amanda's car. I would hug Mom and Dad before I left, my Great-Grandfather's glasses safely stored away in my room There are moments in time where we think confidently, perhaps a bit too confident, that we will see each other again. That the next hug or game of Monopoly is but a short time away.

For me and my parents, God had other plans.

"We got to make a detour. Is that okay kids?"

Me and Kayla looked up at the review mirror, seeing Amanda's beaming smile. We nodded. She did live in the area. Perhaps she needed to grab a credit card?

As we pulled up to an apartment however, and we saw the awaiting Sombra and Cozy, me and Kayla could only close our eyes, sudden truth rushing through our veins.

We were fucked.
