"If you believe they're holding your quirk over in the next world... you should just dive off the rooftop!" The words rang through Izuku Midoriya's head as he made his way to the rooftop. He slowly removed his shoes and stood on the edge. This would be the last time he would ever get to see this view. He smiled to himself as the wind caught his body and he fell forawrd to his death.

Izuku woke up. He was immidiately met with the blinding white color of the hospital room. His ears were ringing, although he could hear bits of a conversation close to him. Though his mind felt muddled and his limbs felt sore, he found the strength to lift himself up. A loud gasp could be heard from beside him. He turned his head, placing his hand on his forehead when it stung. He felt like he was going to hurl.

"Izuku, honey!" Inko Midoriya gathered her son in her arms. "They thought you were dead!"

That's when he realized the ringing in his ears was actually the beeping of the machine, which had flatlined. Just how the hell was he alive? Suddenly, he felt rather parched and longed for a nice glass of water.

"But the amount of blood you lost... that's not possible!" the doctor exclaimed, rushing over to examine Izuku. "There's- that's-"

"Um..." Izuku hardly recognized his own words. "I need a glass of water, please."

Inko nodded furiously and sprinted to the cafeteria to get him some water. The doctor was now pale and looked like she would faint at any moment. "We need to run some tests," she murmurred. "Kid, is this your quirk?"

Izuku blinked.

"Uh, no? I don't have one."

In that moment, Inko came back with a glass of water.

Izuku took it gratefully and took a long drink. The steady beeping of the monitor resumed.

"Kid, I don't think you're quirkless." The doctor murmurred. "We'll run some tests and see. But I really do think you have a quirk. And a rare one, at that." With that, the doctor left the room. Izuku turned to his mom with a huge grin on his face.

"You know what that means?" he asked. It was rhetorical, of course, but Inko nodded.

"I have a shot at UA!"
