Chapter 19: Aftermath: Human World
Conan sipped his tea, he had made serval since two hours had passed since he woke up. The professor only had tea in his house, and Conan did not leave in case his friends woke up and wondered where he went. He could still not believe that what happened was real, and tried to think of explanations. But none fit. The professor had shown his invention and flipped the switch, but there were no signs of an explosion. Everything pointed to something sucking them in. There were skid marks and some of the furniture is flipped over. Also his hearing seemed to be better after being in the Clan cat world. He also noticed that his night vision was also better than normal. After it had gotten dark he didn't notice till he looked at the professor's clock.
Conan sat straight up, he heard murmings. That meant they would be awake soon. He left his tea on the table and walked towards the living room. Ran was the first to stir. Her eyelids opened and she looked at him. "What happened? I feel sore all over," Ran asked. Conan shrugged, he didn't know what happened either, except he did. Ran looked around, "Nothing seems out of place, which is weird," "Yea, there's no sign of an explosion," The others started moaning, and waking up. Their eyelids fluttered open and they surveyed the space around them. "What da' the hell happened?" asked Hattori. "I don't know, all I know is that I woke up two hours before you," Ran looked at him in surprise that he had been up that long. Conan shrugged again. He wasn't going to tell them that they were in a world in which they were cats. They would think he was crazy, so he would wait to see if anyone else mentions it. If not, Conan thought, 'Then maybe I am hallucinating. But then why did my head bleed if all I did was fall down? And why did my night vision and hearing get better?' He couldn't let the others know his worries,so he tried to remain as composed as possible.
The Professor shrugged as everyone turned to him for explanations. "Maybe," he mused, "my new invention caused us to be knocked out and forget why? But without any evidence I can't say for sure," Haibara got up, "Well no use crying over spilled milk, we just have to make sure everyone gets home. I'm sure that everybody has family that could be frantically wondering where they are," Ran bolted up, "My dad! How's he going to take this? Conan, we are going home right now and we will try to figure our way out of this one," Conan nodded, letting Ran take his hand as she walked fast to the door. He heard Haibabra say, "Heiji nii-chan, Kazuha nee-chan you can stay here if your train.." Her voice faded as they went out the door. "Conan," Ran asked, "did you notice anything unusual when you woke up?" He shook his head no. Ran sighed, walking faster Conan mulled over the situation. 'How does no one seem to remember our time in the clans? It's like everyone got hit with amnesia about it. I wonder what the outcome of the battle will be. Did the old code win or the new code?'
