Hermione gazed over at the adorable perky little red head girl who was shoving her brother around the train car on their way to Hogwarts for the last term of the year. Her heart started to thump and butterflies rose to her throat. She shoved them away, silently calling herself crazy. "Like what you see Hermione?" Hermione startled hearing Ginny's voice. "Huh? What no? Definitely not!" She rambled defensively, hoping Ginny hadn't noticed her face starting to turn a bright shade of red. "I thought you and Ron were dating?" She asked, confused. Ron looked hurt. "Oh right yes of course! I just thought it was inappropriate to flirt in company," Hermione said, thinking it was a good cover up. Ron brightened up but apparently this wasn't good enough for Ginny. "Can we go talk? Alone?" Ginny didn't wait for an answer and grabbed Hermione by the hand and yanked her out of the train cabin and in to an empty one not to far down. Hermione gulped as Ginny shut the cabin door so no one could hear. "What's going on with you at the moment?" Ginny began, a stormy look in her eyes. Hermione gazed into them, watching the irises flick around with agitation. "Oh? Nothing Ginny," Hermione reasoned weakly, to busy thinking how cute Ginny was when she was pissed. "No, you're lying. You've been acting weird around me ever since we met in Diagon alley that day in the holidays. Your face kept going red, you barely talked which is really weird for you and you kept staring into the distance like you were wishing you weren't there. Do you hate me or something? You could just tell me..." Ginny drifted off, her voice cracking with sadness. "Ginny no! I don't hate you, I-" She spluttered but was cut off, "then why?" Ginny's eyes were pooling with tears and her voice started to break. Hermione began to stammer, afraid shed let something slip. "Because..." She didn't know what to say. She tried again. "Because uhh..." That was it for Ginny. She turned to the door and began to storm out, Hermione realising she had to say something! Anything to keep her from leaving forever! "Because I love you Ginny!" Oh shit. She meant anything OTHER than that. Where had her quick wit gone? Ginny turned back, stunned, not speaking. "Say something Ginny," Hermione pleaded. She really didn't want to loose her best friend. Ginny still didn't speak and tears burst from Hermione's eyes, trickling gently down her face. Where had that dumbness come from? Why had she told Ginny? She began to sink into despair, the tears still trickling down when Ginny stepped forward and cupped Hermione's head in her hands, wiping away the tears. Hermione was frozen to the spot, confused and more scared than she had been in a long time. Suddenly, Ginny pulled Hermione's head close and crashed her lips onto her own. The kiss was fuelled with such passion it made Hermione's knees tremble. Ginny had always been the brave one. Ginny pulled back slowly, searching Hermione's face. At once Hermione remembered she'd longed for this and shoved Ginny up against the cabin wall, letting her lips melt onto Ginny's. Ginny moaned happily and wrapped her arms around Hermione's back returning the kiss with the same eagerness and finally fulfilled longing. Hermione had no idea how jealous Ginny had been watching her with Ron all these years. Ron! The name flashed across Hermione's mind and she peeled herself off Ginny with guilt. One solemn look at Ginny and she understood. She was happy but this would have to wait. She needed to end things the right way with Ron and she should have done it a long time ago. "Fucking hell." Huh? That wasn't either of them. Hermione turned and gasped. Standing in the doorway was Ron, looking more furious than she had ever seen him. So much for ending things the right way. He stormed out and Hermione began to follow but Ginny pulled her back. "Let him cool down first," she said apologetically. Hermione smiled grimly back and plopped down with a sigh on one of the seats. Oops.
