Okay we're back to the Fucking present with the kids! I hope you enjoy the ride!!!

1983

It was almost Midnight...

The sky was Dark and Full of stars outside, that spread light to the blackness.

He should be asleep for a long time now but he just couldn't help himself for he liked staying up late. If it was in his hands, he would never sleep again!

From inside, the yelling had stopped!

Ben McDowell, covered himself with his blanket. His parents fought again, everytime they met that is... They both worked a lot and when they returned home every night it was their time to blame each other.

Then he heard another scream.

"BASTARD", that was his mother's voice.

"WHAT DO YOU WANT BITCH I AM TIRED?", a male voice screamed desperately.

"Oh my god! Can't they just SHUT UP for once?", Ben heard a girly voice from the bed that was next to him.

"You're not sleeping Jean?", asked the boy putting his head out of his bed shits.

His eyes met those of a young girl with brown hair and freckles and pretty grey eyes.

Her face was annoyed and Ben understood that she was getting angrier by the moment.

"How can anyone sleep with that noise?", the brunette murmured, "They're gonna wake Amy!", she just added.

"They're gonna get tired and stop!", smiled calmly Ben to his sweet sister.

Jane McDowell, his sister was only 18months older than him but she was not a regular 9 year old. Not at all! She yearned to be one, desperately! Ben knew this very well but she wasn't one right now.

For the circumstances didn't allow it!

Their parents, worked all day, their mother was a nurse working overtime most days and their father worked in the fields, leaving every morning and returning late at night. And then, usually fighting with their mother!

That left Jane and Ben responsible for the house and for their little 2-year-old sister, Amy! And because Jane was the oldest of the two, even for almost half a year, she took most responsibilities in her back. Every morning, she woke up, made their breakfast and their school bags, while Ben helped Amy get dressed.

When they had school Ben dropped Amy to kindergarten and Jane prepared their food for lunch. Then they both met at school! Went to their classes and to their day regularly, but then after the school day finished Jane run to take Amy and Ben returned home and studied, finishing both of their homeworks.

In the afternoon, one stayed with Amy and the other was going out usually to the hospital bringing food for their mother and then out for a walk. Jane had many friends from school but never invited them home. Ben knew the reason, well. His sister wanted to be seen as a normal child not a housewife and she wanted the little time she had for herself to be far away from her problems. To be a normal child for once, one without responsibilities!

Ben understood her for that wish of hers... but he was also very different.

He was much more of a person who enjoyed staying at home. His sister was a very good athlete, loving volleyball, basket, swimming and watching baseball. Truly, adoring every kind of sport. He on the other hand liked studding and being curled up to the couch with his books. The towns small library was his favorite place outside of home, and in actuality the only place that he truly relaxed!

When he went there he knew that no one would disturb him and he would be Alone even for a little while. Losing himself, he was reading for hours, and hours, and hours... Ben closed his eyes... Heaven!

Books had been his getaway for three years now, ever since they moved in here. He couldn't remember a lot from their past life, only that they lived in a big city, in a nice home and that then everything was perfect and peaceful... things then were calm! Nothing like today!

He could remember, that both he and Jane had their own rooms and their mother stayed at home back then! Their dad had a job, but he wasn't working all day, he only left in the morning and returned for lunch. And then they had all day together... as a family!

He was very small back then but his heart had kept these precious memories of the Golden days, like a valuable treasure. Every weekend they went for walks in the park, or for ice cream, sometimes in the theater and some other times they even went to small vacations. If anyone who knew them then, saw them now they wouldn't believe that it was the same family! For they were living not only comfortably, but also calmly!

However, that all changed one night... A night that was Ben's first full detailed memory. They went to bed and as he was about to sleep, his mother burst into the room and grabbed him like crazy. The boy woken up immediately for he was a light sleeper and he saw his mother's eyes being wet. She held him tightly and took him out of the room. Their dad was grabbing Jane by one hand and the car keys by the other.

Jane yelled at them, asking them what had happened but she took no answer! Their father just told them that they were leaving for now, going to a trip. But in his eyes both kids saw sadness and anxiety and worst of all, Ben saw fear. They all got inside a new car that wasn't theirs, him and his sister still on their pajamas and without taking anything from their old belongings they left their life back.

For three months they were on the move, until they arrived at a small town in New Jersey. The town was hidden and beautiful and their parents found it perfect. They moved in there and that's how their current lives in Crystal Lake Town began!

Now Ben's life was very different. It was loud and full of noise. The boy yearned for some peace and quiet but it was very hard to get it. He loved both of his sisters but Jane was a very bossy, always talked loudly and ordered people around and his little baby! His sweet sister Amy was still a small child, only 2 years old, she cried and screamed and still needed a lot of their attention. Then there were their parents, who left every morning for work without talking to each other, not even saying a good morning and when they met every night they scream, and yelled and swore at each other!

The boy thought sometimes sad...

Where had his loving parents gone? For he remembered a time that they were both so in love with each other and so happy. But then, when he got sad about it he looked at Amy and felt sorry for her. At least, he and Jane had memories of a better time, their Amy had none of that, for this disturbing reality was the only thing she had ever known.

So they lived like that, Ben usually invited his friends home. At least he had that... good friends. They weren't many, like Janes but they were as important. His best friend, Michael was something like a brother for him. They met when they were four and a half. Ben was not a very talkative child and he was alone for the most part, not knowing anyone and not wanting to disturb his sister.

And it was then when he met Michael! A young boy with orange clothes approached him and didn't leave him alone, not even for a moment. He talked, and talked and talked more and more... Ben wasn't to happy about that but he didn't stop him believing the other boy would be bored and would stop in time.

Well, of course he didn't... Thankfully!

After a time, the boys were always together and they formed a very strong bond.. Michael was Ben's first friend and he became his best friend, actually!

Then the weird boy of their class joined them. His name was Eddie and he had a very specific dream for his future! He wrote stories that were actually quite silly but he did it with a great passion! The kind of passion that Ben admired and in actuality wanted for himself. However this wasn't his dream, to be a writer...

No!

Eddie wanted... to be an Actor!

The BEST ACTOR IN BAD HORROR MOVIES!

When he told them that, they all laughed hard but the other boy didn't got sidetracked. In truth he didn't care at all! He just continued to talk about his DREAM and his Hobby with a burning passion that left Ben speechless!

Next came, Eddies hidden crush Melissa the school's princess! Melissa was a very spoiled girl, a brat for many and Ben couldn't say that people who called her like that weren't right... but she was his friend still and she had her good parts as well. When you get to know her, that is. She was very honest, downright cruel sometimes, bold and it was her that brought, Madison and Robin on the group!

Maddy, was a very interesting personality who hated sports like him and liked fashion, but thanks to her mother and her looks she was very insecure as well! Robin was the kindest soul anyone could ever meet. She loved playing with her dolls, being pretty, always wore girly dresses. She also had a passion for mirrors that was a little unusual and weird and wanted to be a princess-model when she grew up!

Well Maddy and Robin were both picked up at school, one for being too Ugly and Fat, the other for being too Girly and Nice. And it was Melissa the one who took them under her wing and made the bullies stop picking up on them!

Well, to Bens book a person who acts like that can't be ALL cruel!

However, he himself could admit that his friend could become terrible at times and get completely out of hand...

Like Today!

He couldn't believe what Melissa had done?

How she had treated her...

Their classmate, the mayor's granddaughter and... and the girl that Ben liked.

He still remembered their kiss back at the hospital. The black girl took him completely by surprise, for he would never, never, NEVER... not in a million years believe it. He liked her a lot, but he would never think she liked him back.

Ben knew that he was pretty popular with the girls in his school. He didn't really know why nor wanted that, for he preferred to be liked by the one girl he wanted. The only girl that would never turn to look at him. Because in truth out of all of the female population he would never think that Pamela liked him back!

That kiss though... it took him completely by surprise, but made him the happiest boy on earth!

That weird girl... his lonely classmate!

Pamela was the kind of child most people, found cold and distant. She was a loner that tented to be very logical, her head was up in the clouds and she didn't talk much. Ben actually liked that about her! Everyone else in his circle, his friends and family talked a lot... A LOT! Ben loved them with all of his heart but sometimes he got tired. He needed someone that was quiet and lost in her own little world.

Many times especially, during the breaks Ben sat in a corner with his book and watched her. The girl was usually sitting alone and she wasn't sad, she seemed happy. He watched her and she watched him and without talking they were connecting in a way! Back in class, they were the two best students, being something like rivals they had built a weird relationship.

Ben found her very interesting and different! In a very good way, however he too was annoyed by her attitude sometimes. He truly believed that the other child wasn't snobby, it was just the way she was but even he could admit that she could try and be a little more social. She wasn't shy at all, for when she talked she was loud and confident but that actually made it worse. It proved that she didn't have a problem connecting, it was her choice!

Ben admired and respected that in a way, but in another part he was somewhat angry with her. Everytime, his friends or any child in that matter tried to approach her she told them in their faces how they were stupid and annoying and they weren't in her level. At some point, the kids just started to ignore her and left her alone, believing her a lost cause!

But today...

Today he saw a different side of his unique classmate! A side he didn't believed he would ever see, a side he wasn't sure that even existed!

For the first time in threes years that he knew her, it was she that appeared out of the blue! She came to them, approaching them and wanting to play with them she just asked them. Shyly that is! Ben couldn't take his eyes of her, for she was so cute. She apologized in her own way and even when Melissa tricked her to play the dog si she could berate her the black girl had no problem. Interestingly she was very, very happy. Ben had never seen her like that before...

And when they played! She was so relaxed , so easy going, she was awesome... she laughed and had fun, she got lost in the game the same way she got lost in her head...

And then it HAPPENED...

He didn't see Melissa kicking her. He just saw a leg moving and then the girl who tortured his mind falling to the ground! Melissa, was so ugly then, he kicked her and punched her and their beautiful classmate just spilled blood. He had run to her, pale wanting to help her but she pushed him away and got up. She didn't attacked Melissa, just looked at them all with a pitiful look saying that she just wanted to have fun for once and left.

Bens Heart broke at the thought. He knew that this was her way of saying i tried to approach you, i tried to be friends, i tried...

Tears came into his mind...

Immediately after the girl with the coaled eyes left, Ben run to Melissa. He yelled at her but she just asked what was his problem.

His problem?

Really!

Then she started talking about Pamela, berating the other girl in her every word. She couldn't even realize what she did wrong Everyone was speechless! Not even Michael, nor Madison, two people who disliked the mayor's granddaughter for her snobby attitude could say anything.

Then Melissa said:

"She got what she deserved!".

That was it!

His hand left without realising it and he slapped his blonde classmate. Melissa became FURIOUS, screaming at him, but he had none of that. He coldly cut her off, telling her that she didn't want to have friends like that and he left. That's how the group broke today!

He was feeling like a mess, right now. He hated conflict and most of all he hated being like that with his friends, for they were like his second family. And he hated how right now he lost every chance to approach Pamela and actually spent time with her, getting to know her better!

He wanted to cry like crazy, but he couldn't. Because if he did, Jane would hear him, asking him what have happened. And then she wouldn't leave him alone pressing him to open up to her even if he didn't want right now. Even if he just wanted some time alone. That was the problem... he loved his sister and his friends. Truly, they were precious to him but by god, no-one realized nor understood his need of space sometimes!

The yelling from inside finally stopped and as he heard a door closing with force he realised that finally for now and for six hours, he could have some peace and quiet in his life...

Someone shooked him! Immediately, the Blonde boy opened his eyes. Above him he saw a girl with brown hair in a ponytail, that wore a purple T-Shirt and a blue mini skirt.

"Morning Sleepyhead!" said the female taking his blanket.

"Ehhh, Jane...", he said still sleepily.

But he haven't had the time to finish for his sister cut him off and continued, "Get up! Ben we don't have pasta. Go to the store and buy some. Mom left money on the front table?", the boy covered himself with his pillow.

'Really, she wakes me up for this?', he thought.

"What time is it?", the boy asked.

"It's already 8:00!", answered his big sister.

"It's early Jean, i'll go later!", he laid his head again on the bed and closed his eyes.

"No!", said Jane and shooked him harder, angrily, "I need to Cook! You're going now!".

"No!", said Ben, "You can cook later. Let me sleep...", and in that his sister lost her cool and started screaming.

"YEAH OF COURSE I AM THE ONE WHO IS ALWAYS WORKING, HERE! THAT'S THE PROBLEM! YOU ON THE OTHER HAND CAN SLEEP AND GO TO PLAY LATER. NO-ONE EXPECTS ANYTHING FROM YOU. I AM THE ONE WHO WILL CLEAN THE HOUSE, LOOK AFTER AMY AND COOK... DID YOU ASKED ME WHY I AM COOKING LAUNCH FROM SO EARLY...YOU ONLY THINK ABOUT YOURSELF!", the girl screamed, walking Furious in the room.

In that Ben just closed his eyes and covered his ears.

"And you don't even GET YOUR FUCKING EYES TO LOOK AT ME...", Jane screamed again.

"Okay!", said Ben, "I'll go!".

"It doesn't matter", said Jane, "No-one cares for me and my needs! Sleep...", she said leaving, closing the door behind her.

Bens heart felt broken. He couldn't help it, as tears left his eyes. He hated screaming, hated noise and he hated more than anything people yelling at him. Especially Jane, for he loved her and they were very close once. They still loved each other more than anything, but sometimes now Ben didn't want to see her in front of him. And he hated that! But that wasn't always the case! There was a time that the two siblings simply had fun with eachother.

Jane was his first company. They played and they laughed together. But that was a long time ago... now she was always yelling at him, or talking to him about Amy and house chores. That was the things that they had in common. Otherwise, he had his books and she her friends.

Ben, however pushed these thoughts on the back of his mind. They helped no-one!

Today was a new day!

He woke up and fastly got dressed. He was in such a hurry, that he didn't even stop to take his books with him. And for anyone who knew him that was a big deal! For he never left the house, without at least one book. They were his company and he honestly believed that no-one of his friends ever saw him without a book.

He went upstairs and Jane was surprised to see him. Grabbing his keys and the money, he smiled at her, telling her that he was going to the store!

And then she saw in her face something that he hadn't seen for a long time now!

She saw a smile forming, but also a hidden sadness and regret.

Little Ben run to the store, and bought his sister favourite Pasta and as he was walking back to his home he saw a woman walking. He immediately understood who the woman was... she had black skin, red hair and the same beautifully coaled eyes that he knew so well.

'Oh my', he thought, 'The mayor must be Furious', for they, even the small children knew well that the womans position was powerful here and could harm their parents lives. However, Ben felt the need to apologize, so he approached her and being a little anxious, he just said:

"Good morning Madam Mayor!", in his voice the woman turned around and looked at him. Her eyes were sad and tired, but most of all they were scared. And Ben felt a huge guilt in his chest for that. Because he knew that it was him and his friends the ones responsible for that.

As she saw him the woman had the most unexpected reaction, she smiled.

"Hey Ben! How are you?", said the woman with friendliness.

"You remember my name?", was the only thing that left the boys mouth, being unable to hold his thought.

The Mayor laughed, "Really you think i can forget the boy who stole my granddaughter's heart!".

Ben was silent at that. So she didn't know!

That meant that Pamela didn't tell her...

That broke his heart more. His brave classmate.

"How is Pamela?", asked the boy and in that question the woman's eyes darkened again.

" She is... home, sleeping!", she said and the boy was immediately worried.

"Pamela, I thought she woke up very early?", the woman looked at him and got even more worried, "She did. Not anymore. She stays up all night only sleeping during the day and...".

"What?", Ben was now very worried himself. That was the first time he ever heard of that and he saw the black mayor that nodded her head positively.

"Ben...", said the woman and the boy immediately answered, "Yes!".

"Listen...", said the Mayor, "My Pamela is a very smart child but she has a tendency to be alone. I think you realize that (the boy just nodded positively and the woman smiled back at him) She never cared for making friends and that put me in thought.

However, I was pleasantly surprised when she told me yesterday that she wanted to go and play with you and your friends! I mean honestly I never saw her so happy before (those words, every, tiny, small word broke his heart) ... After the incident in the woods (the woman continued) my granddaughter has become very sensitive and I'm worried (she admitted defeated) please can you keep an eye on her, when you two are together?", Ben then looked at her and with confidence he said, "Yes! I promise it to you!".

In those words the female Mayor smiled and gave her hand to the boy who shooked it, like they made a deal.

The boy said goodbye to the woman and before he left, she touched his shoulder and turning to see her face she said to him the most grateful:

"Thank you!", he ever heard from anyone!

Returning to his home, thousands thoughts were dancing in his head. They fucked up very badly and he would find a way to make things right again! Even better than before!

There is nothing that can't be Fixed!

There outside his home he saw... Michael!

His best friend was waiting him walking up and down. Ben run to him.

"Morning Dude!", said Michael smiling.

"How long have you been here?", asked Ben curiously and the other boy just answered to him, "Eh I'm here about 5 minutes!".

"And why on earth you don't ring the bell...?", asked Ben.

"I did Dude!", no-one answered.

"Weird!", said Ben and an worry feeling in his chest told him that something was very, very wrong, he took his keys out of his pocket and went to open the door,

" Jane is inside!".

"I Dunno Benny!", said his best friend, looking at him.

"JANE?", yelled the boy as he walked inside the house, followed by his best friend, "AMY?".

Walking inside the living room Ben didn't see anyone.

"Mike!", said the boy.

"Yes?", turned his friend to him.

"I'll go look upstairs, you look around here?", his friend only nodded his head positively and they both started looking around.

Ben run upstairs and going to their room he saw his baby sister, still sleeping on their bed.

The half part of his heart got relaxed in her sight. He smiled and caressed her blonde hair, but it was then he heard Michael screaming his name.

The voice came from upstairs and running he entered the bathroom where his best friend was.

There she saw a sight he only wished to forget.

His sister was laying inside the bathtub, with her clothes. Her whole body almost covered in water and blood running everywhere. Her wrists were cut open and the blood was getting combined with the water.

Down on the floor there was their fathers razor.

Ben... the boy who was usually so calm and cool, opened his eyes widely and after some time passed, not even he understood how much he started to scream feeling himself losing his sight and falling, as everything darkened.

Unable to listen Michael screaming at him!

Unable to see!

Unable to breathe!

And then he lost himself!
