It had been years since they've seen each other, but now their together, bubbling thoughts come to the surface.

Introduction

So, this isn't something I normally write, but it's something I originally bounced as an idea across a friend a while back. It's an idea that my brain decided to keep me awake with for hours.

It's yet another confession one-shot, well my spin on how Gon and Killua might get together. I can't picture their exact age, but they're between sixteen and eighteen here.

The grass shifted when two older teens fell backwards, giggling like when they were younger. How long had it been since they did this, savoured the moments of their friendship? After splitting up at the World tree, they went their separate ways, one going on an adventure with their sibling, while the other returned home to be a normal teen… with an ungodly amount of homework collected by their mother, piled up in front of them to start working on.

The two did manage to keep each other updated, but it didn't feel the same like when they were together…

When they were together, there was no delay. But being split up, it felt like they were telling each other their history, rather than living through each moment.

Looking to his right, Gon took in his best friend's huge smile, the way he looked up at the stars in the night sky. The teen wanted to remain like this… to be together as if they were cemented in an infinite time loop.

The two of them… forever, together.

He didn't know when he felt this way, but with his best friend being here… he didn't want to let this go… not this time.

Killua took a moment to look to his left, eyes connecting with his best friend, whose eyes were focused solely on him. He raised an eyebrow, "Is there a leaf or something on me?"

"No…" Gon smiled brightly, "just appreciating the view." Killua jaw dropped slightly, cheeks dusty pink. He didn't have time to respond, not while Gon kept going "I still can't believe you're here…"

Killua rolled his eyes, no forcing himself into a sitting position, "And I can't believe you're still that cringy, confessional guy." He looked away, he's only gotten worse, as he's gotten older… Still… I can't help but appreciate his sincerity.

Gon forced himself to sit, head resting on his knee as he continued to look at Killua, "Well, people say it's a sweet habit, so nurr…" The teen stuck his tongue out at his friend "You won't receive any apologies from me."

"Good, because the first eight hundred the moment you saw me were annoying as hell…"

"Well, I'm sorry…"

Killua looked over his shoulder, now glaring at the teen, "My rule still stands. I'll rip out your tongue as use it as a gag."

"You wouldn't do that, you're too kind." Gon smirked when Killua's skin shifted to a darker shade of red.

"You don't know what I would do…"

"Sorry, you're right…" As Killua pouted, Gon continued, "So much has changed… I can see it in your eyes. You're definitely, much cuter now…"

"I'm not C- C- Cuter!" Killua stuttered, catching himself from deflecting the comment to him being handsome. Considering what his friend is like now, he'll probably agree, only making the situation much worse than it already is. It was time to fight fire-with-fire, "Well, look who's talking. Gone are those squeezable cheeks, now there's a jaw so define, I could grate cheese off it."

"Squeezable cheeks? You thought they were squeezable."

"Well, yeah…" Killua's face shifted several shades darker. Of course, he'll focus on one thing and ignore the rest, "That's coming from a grandma perspective. As in, a grandma would look at those cheeks and want to squeeze them…"

"Good save…" Gon's smile widened. No matter if Killua was being truthful with his words, he did appreciate the compliment.

"Shut up…"

"Well, look at you…"

"What about me?"

"Definitely attractive."

"Heh?!" Killua froze, now looking at Gon with a stunned expression.

"Well, your hair still looks like fluffy clouds… eyes are one-hundred percent dreamy, and the tied-up pony tail suits you…"

Killua deflected the conversation, "Well, Alluka wanted me to grow out my hair because she loves playing with it… so I did. Nothing special about having a pony tail that suits me. BUT, enough about me, what about you? Gone is that unruly sharp mop of hair. It's now trimmed and combed. Also, the wardrobe… someone upgraded from their booty shorts and jacket to big boy clothes." Killua gave the other a sly smirk, the comment intending to be more of a joke, rather than a compliment.

Gon however, took it more as a compliment "They weren't booty shorts. But I'm glad you noticed!" His smile beamed brighter, "I wanted to impress you the moment I saw you."

Killua chuckled, struggling to hide his embarrassment "Although, it has been a few years since we talked. Anything new happen?"

"Well, I went to school in Yorknew for about a year… it was fun, being in a school that didn't consist of the same three people. But Mito did feel lonely during that time."

Killua chuckled at the fact. Mito would feel lonely after her son went abroad to study. But the fact that she misses him, felt so sweet, when compared to his mother's hysteria. He wished his family inherited some of Mito's more positive attributes "I guess that's true, though…" the teen hummed at the knowledge, "Which school?"

"I went to… um… River Valley Secondary School."

"Wait, when about?"

"Give or take a few years ago."

"Like, two…?"

"Yeah… why?"

"I went to Angelwood Grammar School. Fuck, if you'd told me, I would've come see you… I was in the area."

"Oh…" Gon's expression widened, "I really should've kept in contact with you… although, the school's name matches who you are."

"I was far from an Angel, believe me Gon…"

"I was talking about looks…" Gon offered a smirk at his blushing friend.

"Of course, you'd go there…" Killua let out an irritated sigh, "What did you do there? Anything special?"

"Well… I did date a couple of people…"

"Hopefully, not some old fanatics…"

"Nah, nothing like that…" Gon looked towards his friend, "I learnt my lesson after coming back to Whale Island… after we parted from the world tree. It was because of you… actually."

"Why me…?" Killua blinked in disbelief.

"Well… going on an adventure with you, it felt better getting close to someone my age, rather than an old cougar approaching you for a fun time."

"Is that so…?" Killua sighed in relief.

"Actually, I did date two people at the same time at one point."

"Oh, someone is a rebel… I couldn't do that…"

"They knew about each other. Actually, last time I heard from them… they're still dating."

"That's cool… I guess…" Killua sighed.

"What about you? Did you finally get a girlfriend?"

"Yeah… I dated a few. Longest relationship was about… a year."

"A year… well, she must have been special." Gon gushed, excited to know that his friend was able to enter serious relationship. Killua had never dated anyone. During the time when people would usually date and explore themselves, Killua was by his side… he never got to experience that. He was glad his friend did find someone he clicked with, even if it was a year. Although, he did feel a bit possessive and jealous at the news.

"Nah, we just clicked well… then… it was like we didn't belong. I felt like I was missing something from the relationship. And, um… they… didn't know how to fill the gap. We tried… but it didn't work out. Parted on friendly terms… he's still single and as he would joke, ready to mingle."

It only clicked to Gon, "Wait… he?"

"Yeah…" Killua sighed, "I tried dating a girl or two, but it didn't… feel right. So, I tried guys. He was the longest, but I had a few flings before him."

"Wow… I'd never have expected that."

"Why you smiling like an idiot?"

"No reason…" Gon continued to smile, "I had no preference, so I dated a mix. Girls, boys… those fell in-between. The relationship involving the two, one was a guy… the other was intersex, but leaned more towards a guy. Although, they certainly knew how to rock a dress."

Killua snorted at the news, "So… you're what? Bi? Pan?"

"Hmm…" Gon hummed at the question, "Probably Pan… it's not the junk that matters… it's the personality."

"I can agree…" Killua looked up at the sky, "But I certainly have my needs."

"As do I…" Gon hummed in agreement, "But it doesn't feel right, unless I have a… connection with them, you know…"

Killua shrugged, "Quick and dirty is how I like it sometimes… So, I can't say anything."

"Killua is a perv…"

"I'm not a perv Gon… I'm a normal human being, with needs… grow up."

Gon burst into laughter, "What else did you do… besides guys?"

"Shut up…" Killua playfully shoved Gon away. He went on to discuss what he did in those years the two never spoke. From the dangerous missions, to the mundane things. He had a relatively fulling life during those years. But he couldn't exactly deny he had this lingering feeling like he was missing something. However, he wouldn't say that straight to Gon's face, "After doing a few contract jobs, mainly to get Alluka through school. I eventually joined as well… but it was sooo boring."

"Well, you're smart! Of course, you'd find most of it boring…"

"Well, duh… I could count backwards from five-hundred and twelve and crunch numbers like an expert calculator… there was one time I showed up to my exam, fell asleep for majority of it… woke up, then got a perfect score. They accused me of cheating, so I did another test… also perfect score. That shut them right up…"

Gon snorted, "What was it…?"

"Specialist Maths… nothing to sneeze at." Killua rubbed under his nose, grinning cheekily at his friend who he knew, without a doubt… hated the subject.

"Ugh, I hate maths…"

Killua found himself grinning widely, "Was it because of Knuckle?"

"Don't remind me…"

"Sure, of course…" Killua found himself smirking at his friend, before looking back at the sky, "This brings me back to when we were younger… the first time I came to whale Island."

"Yeah…" Gon looked at the night sky, "I remember I asked you what you wanted to do… and you weren't sure."

"Yep…" Killua popped the 'p', "But after going on an adventure with Alluka… The jobs… going to school… dating… I felt like I was missing something." The last bit slipped his mouth. He felt several shades darker. The thing he was planning on keeping silent, slipped out with zero warning. Why did he have to feel so at ease around Gon, to feel like he could tell his best friend anything without any judgement whatsoever.

Gon turned to his friend, expecting him to continue.

"Y- Y- You… When you asking me to join you in finding your dad… it was the most fun I had. I could complain a few times, after you dragged me from one dangerous situation to the next… but even then, I still wouldn't want to change that. It felt right…" Killua looked over his shoulder, the two eyes meeting, "You know…"

"I do…" Gon's expression softened, "I want to do it again… minus the danger."

"Like… the three of us?"

"Alluka? No, just the two of us…" Gon eyes lingered on his friend. Expecting him to agree.

"Doing what, exactly?"

"Well… anything we like… we don't have to have an exact goal. We can just have some fun."

"I guess… I'd like that."

"Actually…"

Killua's face remained neutral as he continued to look at his friend, waiting for his best friend to continue.

"I think… I think I'd want that only with you. Just the two of us, for the rest of our life… it'll be fun."

"Huh?!" Killua looked at his friend in confusion, "Dude, I have needs and want to have my space. Just the two of us… wouldn't it get boring after a while?"

Gon shook his head, "Nah… I don't think so. Actually, I think you're the only one I could do it with… wouldn't you want that?"

Killua's jaw dropped for a moment, still stunned at the confusing confession, "I have no idea what's going on in your head right now."

Gon pouted, "I want to be more than friend with you… I want you."

Killua's face exploded into a series of red shades, "I… But… what? How? Where's this coming from?"

"The moment I saw you… I guess all these feelings came flooding out. I don't know exactly when I started to feel this way, but seeing you now… I just know… I only want you."

Killua buried his face in his legs, "Jeez… I don't know what to say. It's all so… confusing, surreal… it's…" The older teen looked at his feet, "I honestly don't know how to react. My first friend… My best friend…" My first crush if I was being honest… "is coming onto me… it sounds like a joke… but it's actually happening right now." Can I really have him, now knowing he likes me… or is this just another sick and perverted joke I'm going to wake from?

Gon looked at his friend in surprise. He thought Killua would just give him an honest flat no. But it was as if he was humouring the idea, of being together "I want to be more than friends, Killua… more than best friends…"

"We hardly know each other anymore… it's been so long since we last communicated… Yeah, being together now, feels like we never even had that gap of radio silence, but… honestly… together, together?"

"Yeah, I want to get to know you better. Sure, it'll be weird considering you're aged into this fine, handsome, attractive, gentleman… but I want to experience that connection we had when we were younger, but this time… as more than giddy little young kids exploring the world for the first time."

"I'd… I'd like that…" Killua admitted in the quietest voice he could mutter. But damn Gon, for having such a forward personality… and great hearing to boot.

"You would?!"

Killua buried his face, "Gon… stop making it weird. I said yes… I do want to try, as more than friends. But I also don't want to lose what we have as friends… things will change… and what if something we don't want to change… changes… you know…"

Gon scooted closer to his friend, bringing an arm around the one he loved the most in the world right now, "I wouldn't let that happen…"

Killua pulled his head out of his arms, looking at the guy that confessed to him "How can you-" He stopped, when he felt a hand touch his cheek. His mouth suddenly felt dry, unable to say anything to deter his friend.

"Because looking at you, makes me feel certain about my feelings…" Gon leaned forward, barely a few inches between them "Permission to kiss my favourite guy in the whole world?"

Killua swallowed thickly, eyes wavering at the person looking at him as though they were their whole universe. He wanted it, to experience the sensation that was making his heart hammer in his chest right now. Gon wanted to kiss him… and he couldn't come up with a reason to say no

What would happen if he gives in? How much of their friendship will change?

"Please…"

Gon's eyes sparkled with determination. Killua had half the mind to look away, to pull away from his friend. But after finding himself swallowing thickly, he'd chosen hopefully… what was the correct answer "Yes…"

Gon leaned into his best friend's lips, savouring the kiss. He felt giddy, like a piece of the puzzle finally made sense. His arms travelled down Killua's frame, settling around the teen's waist. Pulling him in, he held him close, afraid to let go out of fear of losing the guy who he wanted to spend the rest of his life with.

Killua's eyes began to water. This was real… his best friend was actually kissing him right now. He'd have dreams like this sometimes, usually, with him waking up with sticky underwear. He's hoping that the same doesn't happen tomorrow, waking up alone...

But when he dropped his hands down, squeezing his friend's rock-hard abs and strong waistline, he no longer felt like it was another torturous dream. It was his reality…

When his felt arms tightened around Gon's waist, he smiled widely. What he wanted; he just knew…

That Killua wanted the same too.

So, this is my spin on how the confession would go, with a few changes in my original thoughts.

I know I don't normally write this kind of story, as in Gon X Killua… but it was something I just remembered about, for no reason. I wanted to humour the idea… to write it out and post it for the fun of it. If you like it, that's cool…
