Heyy all, here's the next chapter as promised. A little late, but it's been a busy few days. I'm not going to promise when the next update will be, but it should be soon as I've finished uni, forever D:

Thanks to gwb99 for betaing :D

Anyhow, thank you for all the favourites, follows and review. If there's any issues or points you think need addressing, just let me know and I'll do my best.

Sparta47: Thank you, I can't really respond to your suggests as it may give away some things I have in-store, but I can confirm that Six will not be using Forerunner weapons for the most part. There's not really a way to create them feasibly as Guardian is busy securing a way back. Sorry I can't really say more, but I'm glad you're enjoying the story.

RamenKnight: I love your analysis of Six, I've never really written something like this so I'm glad it's coming across as intended :) Thank you!

dracologistmaster: Glad you think so :) I hope you enjoy what is to come.

Unholy Prophet0060: Indeed, this is likely going to be a big hurdle for NEST soldiers and the 'Bots, but I think they may eventually come around. Thank you for the review :D

BloodDragonKing: Thank you :) yeah, it's been a bit crazy recently, but now that I'm done I should have some more time and can hopefully get back into the swing of writing.

Ryan: Yep, and they're not gonna like it, so I'm looking forward to writing it if it comes around. Thank you for the review :D

Here's A Story Of Everything We'll Ever Be

Noble Six, NEST Base, 0900 Hours

"Six."

She lifted her head up at the sound of her name, her wide awake eyes zeroed in on the serious expression that now sat on the Major's face from across his desk. The small hint of concern about her lack of sleep had disappeared with the thought of whatever it was he was about to say. His tone of voice let Six know that she wasn't going to enjoy what he was going to say. It had become stern and uncompromising and she knew that whatever he said was final, there would be no persuading his decision.

"Before we continue with our talk from yesterday, I have something you need to hear," She kept her face neutral as he spoke and remained silent. He took it as his cue to continue and with a deep breath he did, "I'm going to have to keep you off the field for a while."

Her teeth ground together in frustration, but she made no comment as the Major looked like he wanted to say more. She hoped that whatever he was about to add would make the decision less hard hitting. Despite her hope, doubt welled in her mind as she could feel herself becoming uneasy at the idea of not doing anything.

"Not only because of injury –as I said yesterday- but because I think you need time to adjust." the Major concluded his words with an even tone. A hint of regret hung in his soft eyes, half apologising for his decision, half enforcing it as the right thing for her. Six herself nearly froze as everything fell silent. The Major's words rung in her ears as she felt her face fall while her mind was running in circles.

This can't be happening.

His mouth kept moving, but she couldn't hear any of it.

He can't do this to me.

Being pulled off the field was like a nightmare come true for her.

What use am I if I can't fight?

She was a Spartan, built and trained for war. She knew little else, but the roars of the battlefield, the rush of her enemies blood and the weight of their corpse.

I'm a soldier, protecting Humanity is my duty.

Her hands clenched into fists. Sitting by and doing nothing wasn't something she could do. She didn't want to listen to it. She wanted to ignore it and rebel but, she couldn't. Because-

-Orders are orders after all.

Her fists remained clenched, the only indication that she was still raging inside, and she focused her gaze on the Major, who'd finished justifying his choice. Instead of voicing her disgruntlement she merely tilted her head towards him and said two words.

"Aye, Sir."

Confusion built in his face and he opened his mouth to say something, a question if she had to guess. Nothing left him though and he closed his mouth again before a frown creased onto his young face and he leaned back in his chair slightly. After a moment he nodded, apparently deciding that there were no words that would make his decision affect her any less.

"Shall we continue from yesterday?" He asked as he turned to his computer and began working on it.

"When you're ready, Sir."

"Tell me about, Reach," his words were heavy, because he knew the outcome. He'd seen some of it from her helmet already and it was only out of necessity that he'd asked to hear it all.

With that they continued from the other day. Six kept her words as clinical and distant as possible, but that didn't stop her rage from bubbling under the surface. To begin with she told him about Noble team and who was in it. It was a very brief introduction, which was then dropped in order to start on the battle for Reach. As she spoke about the initial events and the tortured marines, she watched as a scowl appeared on the Major's face. His jaw also tensed as she continued, breezing through her first mission with Noble team. It wasn't long before it picked up as Winter Contingency was enacted and contact with the Covenant increased. She told him what the protocol was, but ensured she kept information about her downtime with Noble to a minimum, only speaking about the multiple engagements they had and how it all panned out.

Eventually it turned to the worse. Starting with the loss of Jorge that he'd already seen and the destruction of the Savannah. What was supposed to be a victory turned sour with the arrival of a Covenant fleet that decimated Reach. Everything was kept simple and anything classified wasn't revealed as she went on to explain how she returned to her team. That specific event concluded with the glassing of New Alexandria and the loss of another teammate, Kat.

Six allowed the Major a moment to type before she began to conclude the over month long battle that ended with the glassing of Reach. The rest was spoken without a hitch and there were a fair few bits that she couldn't mention because of their classified nature. She briefly told him that Noble Team were sent to protect a VIP and secure a package. The Major didn't prod her for further explanation as the tone in her voice told him he wouldn't get anything. Jun's ordered departure was quickly covered while she launched into the ride she and the last two members of her team had to endure. The subject wasn't lingered on for long and she soon ended it with her and Emile ditching the Pelican before an injured Carter had slammed it into a Covenant Scarab. Surprised flickered over the Major's face as he typed it up silently and she began to speak of her last moments on Reach.

While her speech began to draw to a close the Major's eyes grew darker and more troubled. Despite that he looked impressed at her and Emile's single handed clearing of an LZ. It was soon wiped away as the aggressive death of Emile, a smirk tugged at her lips as she spoke about the assault specialist's defiant death. The Major didn't appeared to see it the same way as her, because his jaw tensed a little. Six didn't comment or acknowledge his discomfort as she glossed over her own small sacrifice. He appeared slightly taken aback when she mentioned her denial of a lift off of the planet. The fact that she stayed to ensure they got away, even if it meant her own death appeared to be something he wasn't quite sure how to process. Although, his surprise only lasted a few seconds before it turned to concern when she explained how her survival went. Her near death seemed to affect him for some reason as his pronounced typing stopped for a split-second while he digested it.

Finally, she concluded with her awakening among the enemy, which led to most of their deaths and her narrow escape. Once she finished speaking, she remained silent as the Major typed up the last of her words. When he was done he said nothing for a moment as he ran a hand through his hair and his eyes repeatedly scanned the screen.

"Six…" he began quietly before he sighed and started again. "Six, I'm sorry for everything. The past couple of days must've been hell for you and I know being here hasn't made it easier."

"I'm fine, but your concern is noted, Sir." She inclined her head at him before she asked, "will that be all?"

The Major looked up at her with hard stormy eyes. She could see the emotion swirling behind his brown orbs in a depth that was almost akin to those back home. Six was almost taken aback by it, but form what she'd seen of the Major, he was quite a compassionate man. Why that compassion extended so far was beyond her, however, it was amicable if it didn't get him killed.

His warm sincere voice then interrupted the silence of the room, "Yeah, I'll send this to the General while Optimus takes you to the med-bay; Ratchet wants to check you over after yesterday."

As if on cue, a soft knock sounded at the door. The Major replied with a yell for whoever was there to come in and sure enough it was the holoform of Optimus that walked through the door.

He sent the Major a warm smile, "Greetings, Will."

"Optimus," the Major replied with a grin. "You're just in time, we've just about wrapped up."

The bright blue eyes of Optimus looked in her direction, "Noble Six, I hope you are faring well after yesterday?"

Holding back a sneer, Six nodded stiffly at the tall, smiling alien. She then proceeded to lift herself off her chair and dismiss herself from the Major. His response was a stern nod at both her and Optimus, as well as a knowing glance at the alien leader. Said alien asked her to follow and as she turned her back on the Major she thought she saw him hesitate in something. Her suspicions were confirmed when he called out to her just as she was following Optimus out the door.

"Six," He called her to a stop. "I'm sorry that I'm pulling you out, but I stand by my decision. It won't be for long."

Six didn't say anything as she continued out the room, his words doing little to ease the tension at the thought of doing nothing. She kept herself quite as she followed Optimus through the Human sized corridors and to his larger body. After that they walked down much taller and wider corridors at a relatively slow pace. She had an inkling that Optimus was walking purposely slow for her benefit, even though she would've had no trouble keeping up at all. He also attempted to make conversation with her. Even though it was doomed to fail, it didn't stop him from trying as he asked her what she thought about NEST so far.

In response she gave him short but relatively positive answers. Not to pettily inforce her dislike for aliens, but because she preferred the silence. Although, her answers were of a positive nature, she expressed his disagreement with the restraint they showed with enemies who could reveal information. He defended the restriction, claiming that to torture others for information was something the Decepticon's would do. There was enough conviction in his voice to let Six know that he would not be swayed. With that knowledge she decided not to grace his words with a reply and they finished the journey in silence.

As they arrived at the large metal door that led to the med-bay, Optimus motioned for her to stop before he opened the door.

"Noble Six," his baritone voice rumbled softly. "I ask that you do not purposely aggravate Roh, Ratchet has been under much strain recently and arguing around him does little to improve his mood."

She started up at him with hard eyes, "I'm not making any promises."

Six could've sworn she heard a grating sigh from the apparently always calm alien leader. Her lips tugged in amusement at the thought as the door hissed open and she followed Optimus in. His large metal feet scraping against the floor softly as he came to a stop a couple of meters from Ratchet. While they entered she noted that the hinge-head was sat on a pile of blankets on the same table he had been before. An empty dish and a cup was positioned next to him, informing her that he was being fed just like her; only he had the comfort of being alone. Movement in the corner of her eyes had her facing the medic who had turned around at their entrance. His face was pulled into a frown as he had no doubt been just about to berate them for intruding. When he noticed Optimus his features relaxed and almost turned into what Six thought was a smile.

Six spared the hinge-head a glance as the two aliens exchanged words in English. She made a mental note of the oddness of it before the hinge-head the decided to speak to her.

"Demon, again you're without armour. Why would that be?" Six frowned at his words, unable to determine whether or not he was taunting her. However, it was a given that he would taunt her, insinuate that she was nothing without her armour. As if she wasn't a threat without it. She hadn't always had the MOLJINIR armour. That had been a prize for surviving the slaughter which had wiped out almost all of Beta Company.

Her mouth opened make a retort, but he spoke before she could form the words. "Was it damage when you killed my kin, my comrades, who were merely doing their duty?"

There was hurt in his voice. Grief from the loss of his small group that she'd easily overcome. Her lips pulled into a sneer at the thought of him being angry over his loss. Humanity had lost so much more at the hands of the Covenant than his people. They were instigators, who relished the chance to burn another Human planet whenever they found one.

"And what of the innocents your kind has killed, hinge-head?" She snapped at him, Optimus and Ratchet forgotten as she focused on the one being who would could never cease to enrage her. "Humanity is being wiped out because of your 'duty'."

"You think that is all? You're blind Demon," The hinge-head was surprisingly calm as he spoke. Six frowned at his words, wondering what he was getting at. "The Proffets do not know where your home is, Demon. With us, they know the location of all we have. Should my brothers come to their senses and leave, it would be slaughter! We've relied on them for so long that everything would crumble without them. We're just their guard, their military, we do not have a hand in anything else."

"That's your problem, not mine," Six rebutted icily. "You chose to join those slimy bastards, you deserve all you get."

"You cannot be so ignorant. Can you not see that there is more than just your race under threat? If we were to denounce the Proffets, the Covenant would split and it would be mass slaughter on all sides!"

"So Humanity should just let you kill them?" Six snorted, "We'd just stand back and watch you kill each other."

"No, Demon. Listen, there are a few of my brothers who have found their devotion to the Proffets waning, if your race could take advantage…offer an alliance-"

She cut him off harshly, enraged at the way he could even think of an alliance after all his people had done. "We would never ally with you! After everything you've done and everything we've fought against, allying with you people would annul it all. Your chose your allies. You chose to fight us. This is all on you."

He looked like he was about to say something, but Six didn't let him. Her fists were clenched tightly at her sides while her blood boiled at the thought of all the Covenant had done.

"And, when I return, if everything is gone because your Covenant reached these 'Halos', then you better hope you're already dead."

Optimus intervened before either her or the hinge-head could say more. His compassionate, yet stern tone easily demanding their attention, "Enough." He held out a hand to the hinge-head, "time to go, Roh. Ratchet, I shall leave Noble Six in your capable hands."

With that the large blue and red robot strode out of the room with the hinge-head in hand. Still seething, Six briefly wondered if he hadn't deposited the alien on the floor because of her.

"Why do you insist on arguing?" Ratchet sighed and she flicked her gaze onto him.

She grit her teeth at him in response, "because billions have died by the hand of his people. Planets have been glassed and entire fleets wiped out for a reason that's as consistent as a spook."

"To you, perhaps." Came the calm rebuttal followed by a quickly added, "not that I condone their actions against your people."

Six snorted quietly, not wanting to have a conversation that could go in circles. The subject of the Covenant was not something she enjoyed speaking about, but it appeared these aliens couldn't help themselves.

She watched at his blue eyes narrowed slightly while what she thought was a scowl, formed on his face. He then opened his mouth and she prepared herself for whatever he was about to throw at her, "You must consider that your race is not the only one in the universe, you're not the only ones to suffer!" There was a grinding metallic exhale before be continued in a calmer tone," In any case, you must know I disapprove of your leaving of the base yesterday. While you may not notice it, your body needs rest. Continuing as you are could end badly for you; you'll burn yourself out."

Air blew through her nose in irritation at his repetitive words, "I had to. I need-"

"I know you need to return," he cut her off sharply. "But, your insistence to leave yesterday resulted in a casualty that could've been avoided. Major Lennox is being as accommodating and as patient as he can, however, it will run out and you will end up under confinement. Not to mention the fact that if you persist with your current attitude, you will isolate yourself from the others."

She said nothing as she stared up at him, deciding that whatever she could say would result in his continued disapproval. The only thing she didn't quite understand was why he was concerned over the lives of others. Because not only did it not stop at his own race, but it extended to the Human members of NEST, the hinge-head and even her.

He frowned at her silence before he expressed his contempt for her, "this is what I mean. You appear to hold so little value for you comrades."

A sneer pulled at her lips and she harshly rebutted his infuriating comment, "Why do you hold on to it all so much? Nothing stops when others die, the universe just continues on and so must we. The only thing we can do is even the score."

"I hold onto it 'too much' because it's what keeps me going, I joined the Auobot's so I could save as many lives as possible. The universe may not stop to morn with us, but that doesn't mean we just move on and forget," air hissed from Ratchets face as his large metal hands clenched tightly at his sides. The metal they were made from screeched slightly, enforcing the intensity of his anger with the piercing nose that had her sensitive ears ringing. "Or, have you already forgotten your comrades?"

She felt her face briefly go blank with shock before she was hit with wave of fury. Heat crashed through her as her blood boiled at his words. With her hands clenched tightly at her sides she glared up at him, her eyes blazing. An aggressive smirk pulled onto her face when he faltered a little. The idea that he thought she considered Noble's sacrifice so small and insignificant was infuriating. Although she had initially resented being assigned to Noble it didn't mean she thought so little of them. She may not morn them as expected, but that didn't mean she didn't have regrets. What she regretted the most was letting Jorge detonate the bomb; she knew it should've been her. That specific thought rarely left her and she knew it would be a while before it stopped plaguing her so frequently; it had been the same with her mother.

With rage blindly coursing through her she and the alien descended into an argument. He frequently voiced his disapproval and annoyance towards her coldness. She rebutted him for it, using her experiences as a weapon against his words. The alien's responses came in a similar fashion, as he used his long life to outdo her. It wasn't long before it turned petty, with her releasing all her anger and frustration towards the Covenant, on him. As it escalated she couldn't remember who threw the first punch, but she remembered Optimus and Ironhide crashing through the doors to restrain them.

A warm metal hand was closed around her carefully as both troubled and angry eyes bore down on her. She said nothing to the owner as he glanced over to his two companions. As they spoke her anger eased away slowly, only to be replaced by regret for her actions. It had been a long time since she'd gotten that angry and she was ashamed of it. She'd been trained better than to give into petty taunts and comments. Giving in like that wasn't how a solider should act. She mentally berated herself for letting her mask fall and remained silent as she was removed from the med-bay.

Roh'Rithinee, NEST

"Are you sure you won't sit?" The Human Major asked after a moment of silence.

Roh shook his head, "no, what I'm about to tell you will not be easy and I find pacing calms me."

The Human nodded in understanding as he gestured for Roh to begin, "Start when you're ready."

With a small nod Roh took a breath and gathered his thoughts. This was it, he was about to completely abandon the Covenant by revealing all their secrets. The Major had no idea about that, but Roh was sure that when they were done, he would understand.

"Long before I was born and we encountered Humanity, my people were at war with the San 'Shyuum –what we now call the proffets." He began carefully as he went into the long war between the two races. The Major watched with interest and hard eyes, but said nothing as he typed at his terminal. Roh didn't spend long on the war, although he made sure the Major understood why he was bringing it up at all. When he finished with the beginning of the Covenant understanding briefly flickered through the Major's eyes. Satisfied that the Major was understanding, Roh went through how the Covenant got so big.

During this part of his talk he found himself pacing more and the Major's face turn slightly sour, especially when he mentioned the Unggoy. The Unggoy Rebellion was a sore spot for the Covenant and something that wasn't much spoken about. As Roh explained the reason for the rebellion the he sensed displeasure from the Major. It was understandable though, he knew that having you entire culture taken away was not something you would take laying down. Since the rebellion, many of his race began to respect the Unggoy and as he relayed this to the Major, the Human's face relaxed slightly.

Roh then continued on, briefly explaining a little about each race and how each was inducted into the Covenant. The Major didn't appear to like the idea of the Kig Yar and Roh shared his sentiment. When he added that there was hatred between the Kig Yar and the Unggoy, something flashed through the Major's eyes, but Roh couldn't make it out. The rest of the races that he mentioned were received rather positively by the Major, although the Jiralhanae might've been an exception. An explanation of the Mgalekgolo had the Major lifting his brows in both surprise and curiosity and that was probably the most positive reaction the Covenant got.

When he finished talking about the species of the Covenant, he began to talk about the religion. The Major appeared to understand and accept what he said. However, there was hesitancy in his eyes. Roh could see it easily, and the reason for it only became clearer when he began on the war with the Humans.

As he told the horrific tale of the war with the Humans he didn't hold back on any information. Although, he didn't unnecessarily describe the violence, to do so would be disrespectful to all those who had fallen. He tried to keep himself apart from what he said and the Major's fierce looks when he finally revealed how many planets had been invaded. Glassing was also briefly mentioned and was received with a silent horrified expression. Roh made sure not to linger on it too much, only finding it harder to continue onwards as he got further along the war. The more he spoke about the actions of the Covenant the more he realised how wrong they were and the more it angered him.

Once he got to the time of his entrance into the Covenant it got even harder. Not only did he talk about what the rest of the Covenant fleet was doing, he had to speak about what he did and his missions. The event with Cahol and the Demons was the main event that got a reaction that wasn't scorn from the Major. Despite the change in expression the Major remained silent as he continued typing. While it was frustrating for Roh, he couldn't expect any less. In fact, he was more surprised that the Major hadn't heeded the Demon's words

It wasn't long after that he got to the most recent Human planet, Reach. The explanation was mostly the same, except for the fact that the battle was longer, harder and filled with so much more loss. He made sure to briefly mention his hearings of the Demon and her team so the Major could easily compare stories. Along with that he mentioned the death of his brother at the hand of the Demon, but made it clear the he did not want sympathy.

The further he got into the battle for the planet the worse it got and the more intense his pacing became. He told the Major of the valiant efforts of the Humans and how they'd managed to take out the initial invasion ship. However, that was the only positivity he could spin on it as everything went downhill for the Human's after that. There was not pride in how the Humans were beaten back and the planet cleansed as there usually was. This time it was different, he only felt shame at what he'd helped do.

It was then that the hard bit kicked in.

Losing his teammates was still a raw wound. He tried not to dwell on it too much as he explained the nature of the Demon's capture. That she was one of the only ones putting up a large fight. The praise was hollow even to Roh's ears while he described the slaughter that occurred in the Forerunner site. However, try as he might, he couldn't hold back the anger and regret that entered his voice when he went through the Demon's escape. Slightly soft blue eyes were sent his way by the Major, offering a small token of comfort and understanding before they returned to steel.

"I followed after the Demon," he continued, his voice still thick with anger as he pushed the words through his mandibles. "I was determined to find out the truth and gain retribution for my brothers. However, it appeared the Forerunners had sided with the Demon and we ended up here. A place where she is readily accepted and I am shunned. But, I would have it no other way. I have done nothing to gain your forgiveness or mercy and I only hope I will have the chance to redeem myself and return to strike down the proffets before it's too late."

A moment of silence followed as the Major finished typing and Roh forced himself to stop his pacing. The hard face before him betrayed nothing but seething anger, and as he looked up it became painstakingly obvious how difficult the Major was finding it to take it in.

"Th-" he coughed, clearing his throat that had gone dry from being unused. "Thank you, for being truthful, I mean. It's difficult to accept that something like this happened, but I'm glad I have both sides…"

"You need not thank me, Major," Roh bowed his head respectfully. "Out of respect for what you have shown me, I will officially denounce my link to the Covenant."

Roh took a breath, preparing himself for what he was about to do and finding it difficult to come to terms with. No more would he be branded with them. He wouldn't be a pawn of the Proph-San 'Shyuum any longer. The Major had shown him that one could extend a hand holding mercy while keeping the other ready to enact retribution if necessary.

As he took a breath, he watched confusion add to the hard features of the Major. It soon disappeared when he spoke again, "from this day forth I will not be Roh 'Rithinee, Field Marshal of the Covenant, but Roh 'Rithin, protector of my people."

He watched for a moment as a frown broke through the Major's features, "the dropping of the "ee" is significant to your people?"

"Indeed, it is a suffix that can be taken up by only those that join the military, specifically the Covenant's military," Roh explained as calmly as he could, even though tension rocketed through him. While it may have seen like a small gesture to others, it wasn't to him. Had he done it back home, he would've dishonoured his keep, even if it was for pure intentions. From the look on the Major's face he could see him gradually comprehending the meaning of what he'd just done. After a moment a small smile of gratitude crept onto his face and that was when Roh knew the Major understood. For some reason the smile had him relaxing, as if he'd been waiting for the Major's approval. Almost as if he'd already accepted the Major as his new commander. Unsure what to think about that prospect, Roh pushed it to the back of his mind and waited for the Major's next move.

The silence stretched out for a while longer than Roh had expected. A stormy haze had taken over the Major's eyes and left Roh wondering what was plaguing his mind. He realised he was about to get his answer when brown eyes refocused on him.

"I heard you provoked Six this morning," the change in subject was obvious, even though the Major's tone kept its same candid steel as before. "Why?"

"It was not intentional, or, perhaps I wanted to get a rise out of her. I hold anger towards the Demon for the death of my men, but it is in equal measure to myself. The pro-San 'Shyuum are the ones who will receive the full force of my wrath," Roh stopped himself with a short growl. Huffing through his mandibles he found his feet resuming their pacing. With his hands clasped behind his back in an effort to keep them occupied he explained his behaviour form that morning. "The anger I hold towards her is not just for the death of my comrades, but for her lack of sight. The Demon's Humanity, they know their kind is suffering, they can perhaps stop it if they make the right choices. My kind? We suffer, just as all under the San 'Shyuum do, only we do not know it. The longer we all remain in the Covenant, the more we lose ourselves and the more we come to rely on it. Soon we will all completely lose what makes us Sangheili and we will be nothing but mindless beasts, like the Jiralhanae. Even more so is this 'Halo', which they apparently seek. The extermination of all things living should not be the outcome of this war, if it is, then the prof-San 'Shyuum have won."

Roh paused in his pacing, mulling over how his words sounded before adding, "I do not say this to entice sympathy or to belittle the suffering of the Humans. But, it is something I believe the Demon needs to be aware of."

He glanced over his shoulder at the Major, uncertain as to what the Human's reaction would be. Before, his first guess would've been anger, but now that he'd witnessed how different the Major was, he was clueless.

"I see," the Major's words were slow and heavy. His face was pulled into a thoughtful expression that eased away when he spoke again. "If that's true then so be it but, from what Six has told me…she's lost a lot to your war and I don't think she's going to listen to the enemy anytime soon. Many of us wouldn't."

"You do though, Major. Why is that?" Roh asked curiously, but unsure if he really wanted to know the answer.

The Major shrugged, a small smile on his face, "just a gut feeling. It's what got me here."

Roh gave him a peculiar look; he wasn't sure he'd understand Humans anytime soon. They were logical, yet not at the same time. It had made for interesting engagements in the past as he'd never been truly sure what their next step would be.

"What's up?" The Major asked, noticing the look Roh was giving it, but appeared unable to label it.

"You use a 'gut feeling' to determine my trustworthiness," Roh stated amused.

"That and the others have told me what you've been like. Besides, what would you achieve by betraying us? Six would probably kill you before you do anything, she's itching to do it."

"I do not blame her as there are moments when I have the same inclination. But, I'm beginning to see that our war bares no weight here and I have new goals that do not require killing the Demon; even though I should."

The Major raised a brow inquisitively, "mind telling me what your goal is now?"

"To return and free my people from the prophets as well as regaining my honour. My inability to contain the Demon is something not easily redeemed, especially with what she did." A short growl escaped his mandibles as he finished speaking, causing the Major's expression to soften.

He nodded in understanding, but said nothing, as if he knew words would not be enough to convey how difficult it was. As Roh looked back at the Major he realised that the Human was wiser than his years would suggest. Beneath the softened expression Roh could see a capable soldier and leader who held a solid link between Humanity and another race. With all that and more staring at him, Roh could see that the Major was a worthy man to serve under.
