The wood in his chakra prison had suddenly materialized as Sasuke looked up from the fire he had made. By using his Katon on the wood, he had been able to warm up.
He stood up and canceled the fire with a snap of his finger after noticing that Kakashi's jutsu was gone. The man set off immediately, knowing where to go. With every step he took, Sasuke used as much chakra as he could. He wanted to reach the temple as quickly as possible. He hoped he wouldn't have to fight the Iron Countrymen in the temple. In addition to slowing him down, it would be a waste of energy with those samurai; the fight would be unfair. As he focused on his breathing and the movement of his feet on the pristine snow, Sasuke tried to clear his mind. The snow was not carved in any way.
Fortunately, he was able to find the chakra residue left behind by Kakashi. Knowing him, he had done it on purpose to avoid prolonging the inevitable. In his mind, the words of his former sensei had opened a door he had thought was securely closed when he left Konoha. However, his mind refused to cooperate with him. Through the open door, the image of a past he had thought buried forever stared back at him. He was overwhelmed by the memories, so he had no choice but to analyze them.
Before the academy, his first meeting with Naruto. While in the park with his mother, Sasuke noticed this miserable looking blond boy. He looked so sad playing by himself that Uchiha asked his mother why no other child wanted to play with him. She replied wistfully that sometimes people's wickedness is misplaced and often directed at "weak" people who can't defend themselves. He still remembers a quote his mom gave him: "Meanness is the weakness of fools who think they're strong."
Sasuke decided then that he would do his part to help this cute blonde. When he had approached the small blonde, he had been almost blinded by the smile he had received from this shining sun, when he had asked if he wanted to play with him. Since then, and until they returned to the academy as often as possible, they had played together. However, everything had changed. Sasuke had changed after Itachi had massacred his clan and left him alone. It was Naruto's natural instinct to reach out to him, but Uchiha's anger and rage caused him to reject him. Sasuke acted as if he didn't know Naruto after that. He acted like the people who were always putting Naruto down. It was not out of fear, as the villager feared the Kyubi, but because of the bond between them. From that moment onward, the nukenin began breaking the link that terrified him. It meant he could still lose a loved one, such as his parents or his clan. Despite this, Naruto never gave up, and when he was put in team seven with Sakura, the two had loudly shouted their displeasure. Sasuke, however, was very happy in his heart. This is especially true since shortly before all this, they had exchanged an accidental kiss in class. His heart had beaten so hard and the butterflies in his stomach had made him happy.
It had scared him because Sasuke felt alive like he had never been alive before. Whenever he tried to put distance between Naruto and himself, something happened. Their bond grew stronger. The Uchiha had tried to push him away so many times. But each time Naruto pretended it wasn't a problem. The blonde continued to stay with him, for he didn't want to abandon him for anything. His smile, his blue eyes, and his bright laugh were both a real hardship and a real blessing for him. This was especially true when Sasuke was underground with Orochimaru. After working night and day for so long, he thought he was going crazy. When Sasuke would wake up, he would swear he heard Naruto's laughter and that he was shouting at him:
"Come on, Teme! Come on!"
His heart and stomach hurt each time it left a bitter taste in his mouth. Sasuke decides to sleep as little as possible. If he fell asleep, it was because he worked his body to exhaustion. He didn't dream. He shook his head sharply and bit his lower lip until it bled as he ran towards the Temple. He knew he had to destroy this link once and for all, he couldn't keep thinking about it
According to his brother, Sasuke needed no ties, friends, or lovers in order to beat him and become more powerful. Anyhow, he knew this kind of relationship was immoral and perceived as a weakness in the shinobi world. Uchiha did not feel anything, not even a little bit, for this idiot of a blonde. Sasuke would demonstrate this when he left him lifeless on the ground after their fight. A picture of a jinchuriki lying lifeless, blood running from his mouth. The vision flashed before his eyes, nausea rose in his throat, and he spat bile in the snow. So, Sasuke took a handful and passed it on his face. The icy cold allowed him to gain control over his body. He slapped himself hard.
"Come on, you need to pull yourself together!" Now isn't the time to panic!"
In order to keep his mind occupied so he wouldn't surprise himself anymore, Sasuke listed all the jutsus he knew. Sasuke had to stay focused. There was no way he could fail. Everything was on the line. He would succeed because he is the last Uchiha. The nukenin felt much better and more at ease. But instead of letting himself get sucked back into his melancholy thoughts, he wasted no time. Sasuke named the jutsus he knew and the ones he wanted to learn silently. Uchiha saw in the distance a silver roof in the sun, which made him squint. He accelerated his run, his heart racing. Sasuke felt an unbearable anxiety gripping him.
Upon arriving at the Temple's entrance, there was a single man standing in the middle of the large doors, dressed in shining armor. His hand held a sword as it rested along his body. Sasuke stepped away from the man looking at him with curiosity.
"You're Sasuke Uchiha, right?"""
Still on guard, Sasuke nodded, his hand not far from his sword.
"I will personally escort you to Naruto-san if you promise not to attack me or any of my samurai."
Between the doors, the man's voice echoed loudly. He stood with a dignified and non-threatening posture. However, the nukenin was not a fool and knew that he was facing a valiant fighter. That guy was trained for anything.
"If none of you approach me, I will do the same."
For a moment, the man analyzed him calmly. Then he nodded and invited him to follow him into the temple. Sasuke was particularly impressed by the size of the corridors and the height of the ceilings. Samurai were posted on either side of each strategic point, watching them. Sasuke tried to meet their stares without success. Sasuke inspected their chakra carefully and was surprised to find that many had almost no chakra. He wouldn't have trouble defending himself against them, but this didn't reassure him. Their number was impressive. They continued on calmly; the samurai had shown remarkable courage by turning back without hesitating. As Sasuke knew Kakashi was still in the area, he widened his search circle to include his chakra signature. The Uchiha was right when he felt his former sensei was further away. This one was motionless and clearly visible. Naruto's larger one wasn't too far away and was rapidly approaching.
Along with his heartbeat, his breathing quickened. As he quietly inhaled, Sasuke dug his nails into his palms. He couldn't lose control now. Sasuke had put too much energy and time into breaking this bond, so he had to get rid of it quickly and easily. So he could get back to Orochimaru. He hated the snake man. But he needed his knowledge. To easily defeat Itachi. The Samurai who was in front of him slowed down and began to turn towards him. As he extended his arm, he pointed to the corridor on their right that extended towards the depths of the Temple.
"Naruto-san is waiting for you at the end of this corridor. No matter how your fight turns out, we will not interfere at his request. He made me swear to that. It is my sincere hope that you know what you are doing with this precious young man."
As Sasuke did not respond, he continued on his way. He didn't have to answer what the old man just said. Naruto was an exceptional person, one who represented the good sides of life, the hope in the fear, and the light in the darkness. That's why he couldn't move forward. He had to avenge his parents, his clan, and his destroyed life. He walked with a soft, silent step; one almost thought he was a ghost. When he passed through a doorway, his eyes were immediately drawn to Naruto, who sat cross-legged in the middle of the room. He looked at him with a joyful glow in his beautiful blue eyes, despite his difficult circumstances. As the former teammates stared at each other, the jinchûriki got up effortlessly, moved forward a few steps to stop. Sasuke, for his part, remained unmoved even though inside and deep within he was in turmoil. Sasuke's heart was once again racing, his stomach was playing yo-yo, he should not get distracted at all. His pride as a Uchiha obliged him to achieve his personal mission.
"Sasuke..."
Naruto's voice pierced his body like an electric current, making his heart go crazy against his will, and he couldn't hear more of it. It carried promises of joy. Without waiting for Naruto to open his mouth again, Sasuke closed his eyes and attacked. Even if he let him, the nukenin would be afraid to give up what little control he had. He had been staring at this man far too attractive for his own good since he first saw him, then his eyes, my god, that lagoon blue. With ninjutsu he unconsciously felt the irresistible need to touch the hot body of Jinchuriki. Sasuke needed to feel his old friend's muscles tense one last time before the muscles relaxed under his attack, to see the effort on his face. So, he chained blow after blow, attack after attack.
Natsu wasn't left out. Never missed an attack. Both ninjas already had cuts on their faces and hands, but they didn't stop attacking. Instead, they seemed to move fast, they were always close to each other, not moving apart. He waved his hand and jumped back.
"Kage bunshin no jutsu!"
Sasuke also stepped back to produce hand signals when more Naruto appeared, indicating he understood things were serious.
"Chidori!"
As he raised his head, he just had enough time to jump to the side and avoid the Uzumaki. Another leap backward by Sasuke led to his next attack.
"Katon: gõkajinheki!"
Electricity shot toward Naruto, electrocuting him. He tensed up before shedding his jacket. Invoking a light wind jutsu, Naruto dispersed the electric current. On the ground, there were still a few blue flashes running down his clothes. He swears it hurt so much. His eyes flickered stealthily from blue to red then back to blue. The nukenin knew that the jinchuriki was trying to avoid drawing upon the chakra reserves of his Bijù. He looked into the eyes of his rival, his friend, the man he loved so much. He wondered what he could do to make him understand that all this was pointless and in vain. Uzumaki kept changing places, starting again every time he touched the ground. So, he spun in a circle around Sasuke at full speed, trying to destabilize him. When the blond put his foot on the ground again for a split second, the Uchiha lost patience.
"Enton: kagutsuchi!"
Naruto was struck in the right ankle by several small flexible swords made from the flames of hell. A stream of blood splashed on Sasuke's porcelain face. Naruto jumped backwards. His bleeding wound was briefly examined, but he did not worry about it. Kyubi would deal with it while fighting against Uchiha. Naruto's heart broke with every blow exchanged with him. He didn't want to hurt Sasuke, but he didn't want him to get his way either. In the end, Sasuke could not win, because then he would sink even deeper into his darkness. The Uzumaki had to act fast to shorten this exchange before one of them was seriously injured or worse. To let his dark-haired friend, know how he really felt about him, Naruto decided to do something to surprise him.
"Kage bunshin no jutsu!"
Sasuke was immediately attacked by 20 clones this time. He retaliated with his sword, making five of them disappear, but one of them caused him to fall. After the Uchiha fell heavily on his back, the remaining clones immobilized him instantly. Sasuke looked at the real Naruto sitting on his hips.
"Stop, Sasuke, I can't keep doing this like this! Let's not fight!"
He tried his best to free himself, but the clones were as stubborn as the real one and held on. Naruto grabbed his face.
"Damn it! I'm in love with you stupid Teme!"
Naruto crushed his lips violently against Sasuke's. The tension in Sasuke's body was obvious. In reality, Uchiha was responding ardently to the kiss without realizing it. Naruto moaned in his mouth as his hands rushed into the blond hair. The hand of Uzumaki slid under the kimono of Sasuke. Jinchuriki let his fingers glide gently on the silky and warm skin under him. It was at this moment when Sasuke appeared to step back into reality.
When the clones let go of his grip slightly, he struck a powerful hip thrust that took Naruto by surprise, causing him to fall face first to the ground. Sasuke attacked him twice as hard again before he could understand what was happening to him. He had been completely destabilized by the jinchûriki, who had taken him by surprise. The kiss was certainly appreciated more than reason would suggest. Uchiha would have liked more, but he couldn't have it. In spite of the torpor that Sasuke had put him in when he turned him around, Naruto intensified his assaults. Naruto recovered very quickly after parrying all of the blows that he received. Beautiful blue eyes filled with tears that flowed freely on his cheeks, but Naruto did return the blows. Each time he struck him, Sasuke increased the violence, yelling at him. As he stepped back, trying to catch his breath, he made quick hand signals.
"Katon gôryûka no jutsu Katon."
Just in time, Naruto jumped out of the way. The Uzumaki was in such a state of grief, unable to understand why Sasuke was so relentless. The Uchiha had responded ardently to the kiss, they had finally connected. There had always been actions before words. The Uzumaki had felt an electric current passing between them. Naruto barely escaped an unexpected attack. He didn't want to hurt Sasuke. Naruto wanted him to stop reacting this way. Sasuke had to talk to him. But he was unsure of how to handle Uchiha. A sharp pain jarred him out of his reverie. He stared down in disbelief at his chest. There was a gap from left to right. His blood was flowing, and he fell to his knees.
"Sasuke, I... I love you."
The jinchuriki's voice was now barely audible over the frantic beating of Uchiha's heart. At the same time, he hated Naruto and realized that he was in love too. Sasuke fell to his knees, his sword still in his hand, his other hand placed on his face. He tried to regain control of himself, but he was unable to do so. Naruto was still holding his wound as Sasuke stared at him. In vain he tried to stop the flow of blood from his wound. Uchiha struggled to his feet, pulling Kusanagi along with him. Slowly he approached the man who said he loved him, shouting at the blonde.
"I must... kill you. I must... destroy... the only light I have left... But I love you... I LOVE YOU!"
Then Sasuke attacked, closing his eyes, not wanting to see what he was about to do. When he lowered his katana blindly, the Uchiha felt the blade make contact with his flesh. When he felt the body collapse in front of him, or heard the cries of pain, Sasuke did not even open his eyes. The Uchiha fell unconscious. In the end, he had just ended the relationship with the only person who had never abandoned him. The one person who would be able to give him everything back.
