Notes: So, here's my rewrite of the first episode of my "13 Ghosts Of Scooby Doo In 2021" series. I'm rewriting the first 3 chapters of this story because I think they could've been written better. As for chapters 4 & 5, they probably won't change very much since I think they're fine as they are, although I might change up a few things if I need to.

Anyways, this story takes place in March 2021. I will be explaining why the gang left Vincent, what happened to Scrappy, and why Velma was skeptical about the supernatural in this story. Fred is in Honolulu, the place where Shaggy and Daphne were originally planning to go in the first episode of 13 Ghosts, because he has a job as a mystery writer there in my timeline, but he shows up in Episode 2.

My series takes place from March 2021 - March 2022. In my timeline, the original 13 Ghosts series took place from September 2015 - December 2016, and in my timeline, my OC's Jayden and Cheryl are a part of the gang as well. Also, I do consider Captain Ferguson to be one of the 13.

Vincent looked out the window of his castle as a very familiar red van pulled up in front of it. He was still shocked that the gang would move back in with him after all this time, especially after what happened before the gang split apart…

Yet, he was relieved that they were moving back in with him now. He missed them, he really did, even though he wasn't sure if they felt the same way. But regardless of that, it had been way too long without them here in the castle.

'Maybe I finally won't be so alone anymore,' he thought to himself, feeling as though things would be different this time, but then he told himself to not get his hopes up too early, since they only just got here.

He teleported behind the front doors as the gang got their luggage out of the van and walked over to the entrance.

He then opened the doors to see the gang smiling at him, and he smiled back.

"Hi Vincent," Daphne said.

"Hello Daphne."

"Welcome back to Castle Van Ghoul," Asamad greeted as he teleported next to Vincent. "I will handle all of your luggage."

He then snapped his fingers, and the gang's luggage suddenly disappeared.

"We're really glad to be back here," Flim Flam grinned.

"I am glad to have all of you back here as well," Vincent replied. "Follow me, there is something I need to discuss with you."

Everyone walked into the castle, and followed him upstairs to the study room.

They all got settled down in the study after a few moments, and Vincent started to speak as he sat down in his chair.

"I have recently found the first ghost that we have to recapture, who is, as most of you know, Maldor The Malevolent," he announced.

"Ugh, I remember him. He's the one who put me under that sleeping spell," Daphne scoffed.

"Oh yeah, that one. You know, maybe we wouldn't have to recapture him if somebody didn't let him and the other ghosts out of the Chest Of Demons again!" Shaggy fumed, staring right at Velma.

"I said I was sorry!" Velma exclaimed, attempting to defend herself.

"So rwhat? Rhat doesn't make rit rokay!" Scooby told her, also staring right at her.

"I know you're both upset that Velma reopened the chest, I mean, so are the rest of us. But don't forget, you did the same thing a few years ago," Jayden pointed out.

"We haven't forgotten about that, trust me. But the difference is, we were tricked into doing so. Velma did it on purpose just to 'prove' to us that ghosts aren't real, which she clearly did not prove at all!"

They slowly started to argue, but then Vincent stopped them before it could get any worse.

"Enough!" he exclaimed, causing everyone to silence themselves.

He then looked down, and quietly sighed to himself for a moment.

"Listen, we will fix this," he calmly stated. "These ghosts are extremely dangerous, and we're lucky enough that the most powerful one out of all of them turned from his evil ways and started to seek redemption," he glanced at Asamad for a second, then looked back at the others. "However, we have to recapture these ghosts as fast as possible, because the world will get even worse otherwise. We must recapture these ghosts together, and this time, no splitting up regardless of any circumstance. Do all of you understand?"

Everyone nodded in agreement.

"Very well then, I think it is now time for us to leave for Maldor's castle."

"Wait," Velma said, stopping everyone from leaving.

"Yes, Velma?" Asamad asked.

"There's another reason why I opened the chest," she admitted.

"What is it?"

"I heard voices. They were telling me over and over again to open the chest and I just couldn't ignore them!" she exclaimed.

"Voices?" Cheryl repeated.

"Yes! Like I said before, I'm really sorry, you guys."

Everyone glanced at each other, and Asamad remained silent, knowing that this was something that the other 12 ghosts would definitely do to mortals who came close to the chest.

"So, in a way, you were tricked too…" Shaggy realized.

"I feel bad for you now," Cheryl said.

Scooby looked down and whimpered.

"Re're really sorry about this, Relma."

"Yeah like, both me and Scoob know what it's like to feel guilty over opening the chest, and so does Vincent. If anything, we should be understanding about this."

Velma nodded, and everyone stood up.

"Well, I think now we should start leaving to catch this ghost," Daphne said.

Velma walked up to her.

"Hey um, why does Vincent not want us splitting up anymore?"

Daphne didn't know how to respond to that for a moment.

"Oh, about that… I don't know how else to say this, but things were really rough the last time we split up. It is difficult for us to talk about it for the most part, but I guess I will be able to tell you more about it later," she responded.

With that, the gang headed out the door and into the van, except for Vincent and Asamad.

"I can tell that you're satisfied to see them again," Asamad said as Vincent was getting his crystal ball ready.

"Of course I am," Vincent told him.

"I am starting to think that this must be a sign that you have been alone for a little too long."

"What? No I have not!" the warlock protested.

The red demon gave him a look.

"Alright, maybe I have," he admitted. "However, I do not know if this means that I'll never be alone ever again."

"I think it does mean that," Asamad replied. "They haven't stopped trying to talk to you ever since you called them for the first time in years, and they just moved back in with you."

Vincent nodded in response.

"You may be right, yet, I am worried that eventually they will leave me again," he said. "Considering what happened last time…"

"Oh come on Vincent, you shouldn't have to worry about that. They are your family after all."

The warlock raised an eyebrow.

"My family?" he repeated.

"Well, of course. Huh, I'm surprised you didn't know."

"I've just never heard anyone say that before."

"Really? They've never said it to you before?" Asamad questioned. "I suppose that means you'll finally hear it from them very soon."

"We'll see about that," Vincent commented.

Within an instant, they both teleported out, joining the others in the van.
