The gang turned on their flashlights as they ended up in Maldor's dark throne room upstairs now, finding no trace of him anywhere.
"He should show up at any second," Daphne told everyone.
"So Asamad, why did you decide to start seeking redemption?" Flim Flam asked. "I mean, I know Vincent had a part in that and everything, but I kind of want to know more."
"I have two reasons," the red demon told him. "The first reason is because sometime after getting trapped in the chest again by Vincent, I had this sudden vision of all the pain and suffering I caused, especially for my former friends, my wife, my son, and Vincent as well."
"And what was the second reason?" Cheryl questioned.
Asamad looked away for a moment, not knowing exactly what to say.
"Are you alright?" Vincent asked out of concern.
"Yes, I'm fine, it's just that… I am not comfortable talking about that second reason," he said.
"Why is that?" Daphne questioned.
"All I will say is after I lost a battle to Vincent, the other 12 ghosts did something to me that even I thought was too cruel. That too is one of the reasons why I never want to be associated with them ever again."
Velma then changed the subject, seeing how upset he was at the memory of whatever happened.
"So, is it true that ghosts wander the Earth instead of crossing over because of unfinished business?"
"For some, yes. For others, it's different. We all have our reasons. Mine is technically unfinished business, which is protecting all of you and being redeemed, and my other reason is that I haven't gotten my human form back yet, which I lost because I was so evil and powerful that even my own body couldn't handle it."
"What about salt and sacred objects burning out the souls of ghosts? Is that also true?"
"Yes, it is. Once a ghost's soul is burnt out or destroyed, that's it. They don't exist anymore, and all memories or proof of their existence are gone forever," he explained. "I've heard that it can feel like dying all over again."
The room went completely silent, as no one knew how to respond to that.
"Well, however long you have to stay on Earth, just know that you're one of the few ghosts that Scoob and I aren't afraid of," Shaggy told him after a moment.
"Reah!" Scooby exclaimed.
Asamad nodded in approval.
"So, who are the other ghosts?" Velma wondered. "I already know about Maldor and Asamad by now, but not any of the others."
"The others are Queen Morbidia, Reflector Specter, Zomba, Captain Ferguson, Nekara, Marcella, Time Slime, Demondo, Rankor, Professor Phantazmo, and Zimbulu," Vincent answered.
"Wait, don't you mean 'Zimbulu! Lion Demon!'" Flim Flam exclaimed.
Everyone else then laughed at that.
"Oh my gosh, I forgot that was the way he pronounced his name!" Daphne chuckled.
They all quickly stopped laughing as the temperature in the room dropped drastically.
"Why did it just get so cold all of a sudden?" Jayden asked.
"That's a sign that he's close," Daphne said.
The gang looked around in silence for a moment, but Maldor was still nowhere to be seen, until he appeared on his throne, staring at everyone.
"Ruh roh…" Scooby whimpered.
"Where is it!? Where is the wonder wand of Zadgraz!?" he fumed.
"I don't have it!" Velma responded, putting her hands up.
"You know what? Listen up, Maldor, because I'm only going to say this once. You will never get that wand. It just will not happen. Ever. Oh, and the only person here who is worthless isn't Vincent, it's you," Cheryl jeered.
Maldor stared at her in absolute fury.
"I will NOT let a mortal speak to me this way!" he fumed.
He then aimed a blast of magic at the spot where she was standing, making her fall through the floor screaming.
"Cheryl!" The others called out, but they received no answer.
"You monster! What have you done with her!?" Jayden yelled, worried for his best friend.
"Silence!" Maldor shouted. "I do not want to hear your complaining!"
He then looked over at Asamad and laughed evilly.
"Join us again, Asmodeus, and you shall find peace for all the days of your afterlife. That's what you want now, isn't it?"
Asamad took a moment to fight this evil temptation, then he suddenly yelled, "Never! My name is no longer Asmodeus, it's Asamad!" and started to cast blasts of magic at Maldor.
Maldor casted blasts of his magic back at him, and the fight between them had begun.
Vincent, meanwhile, made sure to protect the others with his cape before also joining the fight.
"You are even more worthless than I thought," Maldor said, looking right at him before aiming his magic at him.
"I am not!" Vincent shouted, dodging the ghost's magic.
Velma then tried to sneak up behind Maldor and trap him in the chest in the midst of the fight, but then backed away as a fireball came towards her, almost striking her down.
The fight went on for another moment, until Maldor eventually disappeared as Asamad shot one more blast of magic, just missing him and then hitting his throne, which immediately shattered into pieces.
"Are you all alright?" he asked.
"No, not all of us," Flim Flam told him. "Cheryl fell through the floor and I don't know where she went, but I know that she's in serious danger!"
"We have to save her from falling under that sleeping spell! Come on!" Daphne exclaimed, heading downstairs, with everyone else following her.
Cheryl was still falling and screaming, until she landed on a bed with white sheets.
She slightly scratched her head in confusion.
'Ugh…where am I?' she thought to herself.
She then noticed a small red stain on the sheets, and gasped as she figured out what it was.
"Is that blood…?"
She then screamed for help, hoping that someone would hear her.
But not one soul did, meaning that she was truly alone now.
She tried to look around to see if there was a way out of this, but there wasn't any.
"Wait," Cheryl paused, looking at the bed she landed on. "I- I think this is the same bed that Daphne was in when she was under that sleeping curse, just with different sheets this time," she realized, and then started panicking as she also realized what was about to happen to her.
She tried to get off the bed, but a large glass case suddenly was put right over her head, and then she saw Maldor staring at her.
"Let me out of here!" she yelled, banging on the glass.
"No, I don't think I will," he told her.
He then began to recite 'The Sleep Of The Centuries' spell.
"Spell of Darkness, trance so deep," he began, with his eyes turning red as he spoke. "Now and forever, sleep!"
Cheryl tried to fight the curse, but she couldn't help but close her eyes, and she instantly fell asleep.
"May you sleep until the end of time," he stated, laughing evilly again.
And then all she saw was darkness.
Eternal darkness...
