Luz entered the Principal's office, afraid of what might happen. Bump looked up and smiled.
"Ah, Miss Noceda, please come in." Bump said.
Luz walked to the desk and sat in the chair. She felt nervous, thinking she's done something wrong. Bump clearly noticed this and put her at ease.
"Don't worry, Miss Noceda, you aren't in trouble. I just wanted to speak to you about something that Edalyn... informed me of."
Luz looked at him. Did he mean her wings? Was that what he wanted to talk about?
"W-w-what do you mean?" Luz asked.
"Let's not pretend, we both know the truth." Bump said, "You're one of a kind."
Luz looked down.
"Eda told you about the wings, didn't she?"
"Indeed she did." Bump said, "Don't look so sad, Miss Noceda, this is incredible. You've already been doing great in your classes, and that's without natural magic, when your bile sac is working properly, you may become the best student this school has ever had."
"Yeah, that's cool and all, but I don't care about that." Luz said, "I just want to know who my other parent is."
"Ah, yes, she also explained that as well." Bump said, grabbing something from a shelf, "I may not have the sight I used to, hence Frewin on my head, but I can tell you, that if your other parent went to Hexside, they'd be in this book."
He handed Luz an old yearbook. She looked through it and saw several people that she knew as her friends parents. Perry Porter, Odalia and Alador Blight, Lilith and Eda Clawthorne, and nearly a dozen other people that she recognized from walking around Bonesborough.
"Thank you, Principal Bump." Luz said.
"It is my job as Principal to help my students, I almost forgot about the before you came." Bump said, "I truly should thank you. You being here filled a hole in my heart, something I lost long ago... the love of teaching and helping those become stronger. Because of you, I have that fire again, which means I will help you with this anyway I can."
"That... that means a lot." Luz said, "So... do you have wings?"
"Indeed, I do, but don't ask for me to show them." Bump said, "Time has not been kind and it can be quite painful trying to use them. I vowed to only use them in an emergency. Now, anything else I can help you with?"
"How do you take care of wings?"
"Ah, I figured you'd say that. It truly depends on the type of wings you have. Most witches with bug wings have to avoid getting their wings wet or else they can't fly until they dry. Those that have wings with feathers have to groom theirs at least a few times a week. Those that have some kind of wings that are similar to bats or dragon or something like that have to keep their wings clean or else they get parasites."
Luz was glad that she could learn all about these things she'll need to know when her wings grow.
