Chapter Eight
Before the Nurse could swing her bonesaw, the crow flew into her, attacking her. The Nurse grabbed the crow without actually touching her, and crushed her.
"No!" Jake yelled.
Everyone was awake. Dwight saw The Nurse hovering over Meg, and ran to help her up. Before the group could decide what to do, another killer appeared from nowhere. A young girl with cold skin and wild black hair and dead eyes, wrapped in bandages, and wielding a sword appears. Dwight remembered Adam's description of his killer - The Spirit. Her sword disappeared and she began to twist while standing still before disappearing herself. Adam pushed Dwight and Meg aside as she reappeared and swung her sword over their heads.
"Everyone, run!" Dwight yelled.
Dwight took Meg's hand, leading her back to Kate with Ace, Adam, and Jane behind them. Jake took their pet crow and placed her in his pocket. Jake followed Claudette, David, Nea, Feng, and Jeff. A thick fog began to settle on the ground, before growing.
Dwight, Meg, and Kate found themselves elsewhere. An old carnival in a field. Kate remembered where she was.
"We have to hide..." Kate said.
Kate led Dwight and Meg behind a curtain in a tent. Kate closed the curtain, making the tent completely dark.
"I can't see," Dwight whispered.
He pulled something over his head, and a lightbulb turned on. The tent was larger than before and filled with mirrors. An obese man wearing a clown outfit and had worn makeup appeared in one mirror. And another. And another. He began to laugh in a sickly manner, his eyes focused on his possible victims.
"The Clown..." Kate tearfully said.
Elsewhere, Ace, Adam, and Jane were walking through a swamp. They couldn't see anything in the thick fog.
"A swamp! Again!" Ace said.
"Ace," Jane began. Her tone was clear, and after a moment, Ace nodded.
"We need to find Dwight-," Adam began.
A scream erupted in front of them. An old gray skinned woman in torn clothes, covered in dirt and mud, appeared. The Hag swump her claw at Ace, cutting his jacket.
"I just got that!" Ace yelled.
Adam and Jane pulled Ace away from the creature. But they heard chanting from behind them. An ancient tall disfigured woman walked through the fog. She opened her mouth and shot out acid-like vomit toward them. Jane pushed Ace into Adam to avoid him being hit. The Spirit phased behind the two killers, her eyes locked onto Adam.
Jake, Claudette, and Jeff entered a snow covered resort in the middle of a snowstorm. They closed the door behind them.
"We need to find Dwight and Meg," Claudette began. "And the others."
"No, we're on our own. I knew this would happen. We got comfortable, and we nearly got killed. I told you we should have left them." Jake said.
"Leave your friends behind?" Jeff questioned him.
"We're not friends," Jake said.
"We're not?" Claudette asked.
"I-I... I'm sorry..." Jake said.
"Thank God, we found others," An unfamiliar voice said, slightly amused.
A group of teenagers entered the resort. Neither Jake, Claudette, or Jeff knew them. They each gave each other a knowing look. Two young men and two young women. The person who spoke was bald and had a tattoo on his neck. The girl with long blonde hair beside him wore a red flannel over a torn gray shirt, also with torn jeans. The smaller girl had pink hair and braces. She wore a hoodie, skirt, and leggings. And finally, the other boy wore all black. Something about the group disturbed the trio.
"Who are you?" Jeff asked.
"Frank," Frank began with a friendly smile. "Blondie is my girlfriend, Julie. Pink is Susie. And Joey. He doesn't say much."
"We-" Claudette began.
"Did you see any killers outside?" Jake asked.
Frank didn't respond. He gave another smile. And then it disappeared.
"No, but no need to worry. We're all friends here, right?" Julie asked.
"Friends..." Susie repeated.
"Jeff, didn't you say you never met your killer?" Jake asked.
"Yeah..." Jeff said quietly.
"Did anyone else have more than one?" Jake asked.
"No, just me," Jeff said. He gave him a knowing look.
Joey locked the door. And Susie began handing masks she hid behind her back. A smiling mask for Frank, a blank expression for Julie, a crafted mask for Susie, and a skull for Joey. Each took out blood stained knives. Joey ran to Jeff who punched him into a counter. Jake took Claudette's hand and tried to run to another door. Susie ran in front of them to stop them.
"And where are you going?" Susie asked mockingly.
"Yeah, why the rush?" Julie asked. She let out a little laugh.
"We're about to have some fun," Frank said, smiling under his mask.
David, Nea, and Feng walked through an abandoned hospital. Feng stayed close to Nea, holding onto her arm. David noticed the blood stained beds.
"We need to find the others-" David began.
A hatchet flew past his face, hitting a wall. The killer who threw it was a tall woman who wore a white rabbit mask and had old clothes. She had a number of hatchets on her belt.
"Damn, Huntress!" David yelled.
Before the group could run, a door next to them opened revealing a tall man with a twisted face covered in metal pieces, giving off small sparks. Before they could react, The Nurse appeared and grabbed Feng. In an instant, the two disappeared.
"Feng!" Nea yelled.
The Doctor swung his weapon, hitting David in the head, knocking him down. The Huntress began walking to Nea, humming an unsettling tune. Ace appeared, and took Nea's hand. Jane and Adam were with him.
"Come on, kid!" Ace said.
Adam dropped a nearby pallet, leaning on the doorway, causing the Doctor to drop David. He quickly got back up. The group saw the Nurse holding Feng, carrying her away. David ran after them, and the group followed. David saw another pallet and did the same as Adam. The Nurse let out a sigh, dropping Feng. Adam and Nea helped her up, and quickly the group left.
Back in the woods, the groups slowly began to reunite. Dwight, Meg, and Kate ran into Claudette, Jake, and Jeff then both groups ran into the others. Their killers began to appear one by one, chasing after them. Even old ones. Dwight, Meg, Claudette, and Jake noticed the Trapper, Wraith, and Hillbilly join the others.
As they ran, a large manor began to appear in a clearing. The group passed the tree line, and Dwight fell. Both Meg and Kate went to help him, and the others turned. All the killers stopped. After a moment, the Trapper swung. An invisible shield blocked it. Small symbols began to appear briefly.
"They can't follow us..." Dwight said. "Everyone, get inside!"
The survivors ran toward the front door of the manor. Dwight opened the door and everyone entered. He shut the door behind them. They were now inside a large room with wood floors, clean walls, paintings and portraits, and a staircase leading up to the second floor. Dwight noticed one of a portrait of an older man and woman beside him, both smiling. The same older man appeared from the second floor. He had graying black hair with a light beard. His eyes looked gray. But he had a gentle smile.
"I have been waiting for you all. Quite, for some time. Especially you, Dwight." The older man said.
The group looked at Dwight. He gave them a shrug and looked back at the man.
"Who are you?" Dwight asked.
"Benedict Baker."
