Floating in nothingness is a really weird feeling that was quite hard to describe. You felt quite literally nothing yet somehow you could still tell that you were floating through the everlasting darkness. I wasn't sure how long I was here just continuously floating before I felt a slight tug that quickly turned into a strong pull that sucked me into a swirling vortex that spun me for god knows how long before I was dropped into a gaping white hole that swallowed me whole and caused me to lose my consciousness.

When I came to, the first thing I noticed was the blinding light that shone into my eyes. Shutting them quickly, it was only a minute later that I felt the burning succumb a bit and felt comfortable enough to open them a bit. Carefully opening my eyelids, I looked around the immediate area I was in and took in the surroundings I was currently in. It looked like a boys bedroom, with dark blue painted painted walls and a white bedside table sitting besides a normal bed. There was a shelf on the right side wall filled with figurines of all sorts, although looking at it closely I thought I recognized some of them. The iconic blueish white dragon was obviously Blue eyes white dragon. The small brown furball was Kuriboh. And surprisingly I also saw Gameciel, the sea turtle Kaiju as well as some other Yugioh monsters I couldn't recognize. I didn't know what world I was in right now, but apparently this world had Yugioh and I was okay with that. Getting off the floor I carefully exited out the room and headed down the stairs, only to freeze in surprise as I saw a older man I've never seen before.

"Ah, awake already Jack? Your mother was just finishing breakfast and was about to send me to get you."

The man I presumed to be my father told me brightly. Unsure of what to say I just nodded back. Thankfully he looked a bit distracted to notice the difference between me and the original owner of this body, and I was able to enter the dining room without being questioned. My 'mother' brought a large stack of pancakes for me and my father to enjoy, and it was with great joy that I was able to say that her cooking was very nice. While enjoying the heavenly pancakes, I learned my name was actually Jack Sparrow. While it was difficult to explain my sudden choking to my concerned parents, I still found my name hilarious. Another thing I managed to notice was that I was actually in the Yugioh world, something that came up after my father asked me about dueling prep school. I managed to find out I was that I was currently 10, with no idea where in the timeline of Yugioh I landed, or if it followed what I knew of it at all. Thankfully that was easily solved by me watching the pro duel league that showcased a bright and upcoming rookie duelist named Aster Phoenix. Although I remembered almost nothing from the show since I haven't seen it in god knows how long, I was still an avid duelist in real life as well before being pulled into this world here. I did notice a few big differences from the show and in this world here though. First of all, Synchros and Xyz monsters were a thing. However, Pendulum and Link monsters were not. Another thing I caught on immediately was the fact that blue eyes white dragon was not nearly as rare as it was in the show. Apparently Pegasus convinced Kaiba to reprint the copies and made thousands of Blue eyes along with modern support I used in my own deck back in my world playing Master Duel. It definitely wasn't common though, and I wasn't sure how I was going to build myself the Blue eyes deck I was comfortable using in my old world. Thankfully, I had quite a few cards and cash saved up from all those birthdays my body's old owner celebrated. My parents were apparently very well off, and since I was an only child I was spoiled quite hard. The result of that ended up with enough cards to build myself a sufficient deck that would hold until I finished my Blue eyes Chaos deck I used to have. The improvised deck I had was an Infinitetrack railway hybrid deck that was probably overkill for anyone my age group but as long as it worked I guess.

Living as a 10 year old wasn't as hard as I imagined, although it was kinda difficult to connect to anyone at school. I was also bored out of my mind which was alleviated slightly by joining various dueling tournaments hosted around the country. While I was American, my parents apparently moved to Japan a few years ago because of work, and hence I was a lot more exposed to dueling than I would've been in America. Not to say dueling wasn't a global sport, but japan was particularly crazy about the game. Sort of the same way soccer was popular in England in my old world. The rest of the world enjoyed dueling and the world was engineered towards dueling but Japan was definitely the craziest of the lot. There were also a lot more tournaments in Japan that even someone my age could join, as I was right now.

"I'll play reinforcement of the army to bring one level 4 or lower warrior monster from my deck to hand! I choose Photon Thrasher! Now using its effect, I'll special summon it to my field in attack mode(2100/0). Next, I play Photon Crusher(2000/0) and normal summon him. Now I'll overlay the two to play Cosmics Hero King Arthur(2400/1000) and equip him with Axe of Despair boosting his attack to 3400(3400/1000)! I'll end my turn here." The Kid across me smugly stated, and I was pretty impressed. The 10 year old managed to bring out a 3400 Xyz monster in one turn that had an effect that could save him from being destroyed once. Judging by the crowd around me, they were also pretty excited to see such a good move for our age group. Granted, he had no backrow but if he managed to set one up as well he'd have been scouted off the streets already and into the pro circuit. Unfortunately for him however, I was about to end this in one turn.

"I play Infinitrack harvester(0/2100) from my hand!" The groans around me for summoning a 0 attack monster in attack mode could be heard even here. Even my opponent looked skeptically at me. I wasn't done by a long shot however.

"I'll play his effect that lets me add a Infinitrack monster from my deck to hand. I choose Infinitrack Brutal dozer and immediately use his effect sacrificing Harvester to special summon Brutal Dozer(1900/2100) onto the field in defence mode! Brutal Dozer's effect activates, and I get to special summon a Infinitrack monster from my deck to field in defence position with its effects negated. I special summon Infinitrack Trencher(500/2400) in defence mode! But I chain this effect by playing Heavy freight Train Derricrane(2800/2000)-(1400/1000) from my hand to the field! You see, when I special or normal summon a Earth Machine monster onto my field I get to special summon Derricrane from my hand onto the field. While his attack and defence gets halved if summoned by his effect he won't be staying long since I also play Super Express Bullet train(3000/0) from my hand and special summon him onto the field since all monsters on my field are Earth/Machine! Now I construct the Overlay network and Special summon Superdreadnought Rail Cannon Gustav Max in attack mode!(3000/3000). Then by using my two Infinitrack monsters from earlier I Xyz summon a second time and special summon Infinitrack River Stormer(2500/500) in attack mode as well." The crowd around me went wild as I Xyz summoned not one, but two high rank high attack monsters in one turn. My opponent also looked kinda shaken, but noticing the attack points on both my monsters he still managed a cocky grin.

"Nice play but none of your monsters can touch my Hero King." He boasted. I just grinned lazily.

"Playing Gustav Max's effect I can remove one material and deal 2000 damage directly to you." Gustav Max took aim at my opponent and let out a giant artillery shell that blew into my opponent with a big boom.[LP:4000-2000] While I knew it didn't actually hurt my opponent it was kinda disturbing to see a giant artillery cannon fire at a 10 year old. He yelled out but still stood standing with a confident grin thinking I was done. Kinda sad I wasn't though.

"Now from my extra deck I Xyz summon Superdreadnaught Rail cannon Juggernaut Liebe(4000/4000) in attack mode by using Gustav Max as material." If my earlier two Xyz summons had the crowd shouting, this one had them positively screaming. Taking a few seconds until they calmed down a bit, I continued.

"Now I play Liebe's effect. By removing one material from it, I can make it gain 2000 attack and defence!(Liebe[4000/4000]-[6000/6000]) Since I removed Derricrane from Liebe for Liebe's effect I get to destroy one monster from your side of the field!" A ghost image of Heavy Freight train Derricane appeared onto the field and ran into Cosmics Hero King Arthur with such force that caused him to go flying off before shattering. My opponent looked positively terrified and I couldn't blame him since he had a massive Rail cannon aimed at him.

"Now Liebe, blast him and wrap this game up!" The supermassive cannon took aim at the poor kid before firing with a boom even louder than earlier.[LP:2000-0] My opponent screamed in fear before he was engulfed in smoke that hid him from view for a few seconds. When it cleared, I saw him lying on his back with tears in his eyes. Maybe I should've felt a bit bad for traumatizing a 10 year old with a card game, but it was kinda hard to do so when the crowd was shouting my name around me. While this was a small name street tournament, since Japan was so crazy about the game in the first place there was probably around 3-4 thousand people in the stadium I played in, especially considering this was the finals. I happily accepted my 100,000 yen prize that would go towards continuously building my Blue eyes deck while I posed for a picture as well with the sponsor of the Tournament.

"Well done Jack!" My mother screamed hugging me as I got home from the tournament. While my parents were normal office workers who didn't care much for Yugioh, they refused to miss my first tournament for anything and were right in the front row cheering me on. It was a nice feeling, and I just grinned happily even while being smothered by my mother. It was really addicting, the adrenaline boost I got while dueling in front of a crowd. It really cement the feeling that I was in this world, and completely shut off any remaining feelings for my old world, no matter how small. The only thing I had going for me in the old world was a mother I never talked to and a father I never knew, so having a loving family that supported me while I got to play my favorite card game was definitely the better of the two. My parents decided to celebrate my victory, and took me out for dinner to a Sushi restaurant a fair bit away but had the greatest Tuna and Salmon Sushi.

Continuing to join tournaments, I made a bit of a name for myself as a top rate duelist who played a OTK infinitrack Railway deck and was never allowed to go second if possible. Sweeping every tournament I could join, I had continuous offers to go pro by various people who offered to sponsor me. I refused however, since I wanted to enter Duel academy first. I knew once I graduated I would happily join the pro circuit but I wanted to actually see all the various events that happened in the infamous Duel Academy with all the main cast. The anime was probably one of my favorites in my childhood, and the scouts understood my want to join Duel Academy though not for the reasons they thought. They said it would do me good since Duel Academy had a name as the top School that taught dueling in the world and I would learn lots from the school.

Fast forward a few years, and here we were with me looking into my mirror absorbing my good looks. I had that American look but with a low ponytail that took a lot of convincing before my parents finally relented. I was also very tall for my age, reaching 1.8 meters as a 15 year old. Topping that off was my dark blue eyes and I was happy with how I looked. Exiting the bathroom and headed into the dining room, my parents perked up at me entering the room and smiled.

"I hope you're ready for your big day today!" My mother exclaimed, cooking pancakes from the kitchen. My father promised to drop me off at the testing grounds with all my luggage later, so I had plenty of time to enjoy my breakfast with a grin.

"Always, mum." I said, before chewing on my pancakes she brought to me. With a bit of orange juice I quickly finished my breakfast, and I followed my father to the car after a quick hug from my mother. It wasn't a long trip, taking maybe a hour or two. Once we got there, my father patted me on the back with a good luck before heading back home. It spoke volumes of his confidence in me since if I failed the Exams I had to go back home with all my luggage. Or maybe it was his way of saying I was on my own? Shrugging lightly, I checked in with the girl holding the attendance paper at the entrance.

"Jack Sparrow, here for the Dueling Exams." I politely stated. I passed the written exams easily enough, unfortunately losing out to one kid that was probably Bastion. The attendance girl widened her eyes when she heard my name.

"THE Jack Sparrow? Oh god, I'm a huge fan!" She gushed. I just shrugged uncertainly, definitely not expecting to see a fan. I knew I was pretty well known to anyone who followed Japanese amateur dueling, but I didn't expect to have fans here. She fangirled for a few moments and asked for my autograph that I gave before turning professional and giving me instructions for my exam. I was apparently scheduled as #67, which wasn't too bad. Entering the giant building, I noticed a few people dueling already. Those were the unlucky people singled out for the morning duels, which meant they had to get up a lot earlier than the others. I didn't see any familiar faces, though it made sense since I was pretty early, Jaden was as late as possible and I had no idea when any other character arrived. Taking a casual seat watching one of the duels, I relaxed lazily. The current duel I was watching was pretty fascinating to watch so far, with the proctor(LP:3200) having a Number 39: Utopia on his field in attack mode with one material left while the challenger(LP:2100) had a Gladiator Beast Gaiodiaz and Colosseum-Cage of the Gladiator Beasts face up on the field. The challenger had his attack negated with Utopia so he ended his turn with a facedown. The Proctor drew, and apparently he liked what he got since his grin got feral.

"Alright kid, you do fine with those Gladiator Beasts of yours and have a fine head on your shoulders! However, this looks like the end of the line for you. I play Raigeki from my hand to wipe your field clean of Gaiodiaz!" A bolt of lightning struck the armored beast, who shrieked in pain before shattering.

"Now I attack you directly with Utopia!" Utopia dashed forward with his sword glowing brightly. It proceeded to slash the kid across the chest and ended the game there.(LP: 2100-0).

"Better luck next time kid." The Proctor shouted at the kid, who's head was hanging dejectedly. The next few duels were pretty entertaining too, and I enjoyed watching them before I got my alone time disturbed.

"Mind if I sit here?" A male voice asked besides me. Turning around, I was surprised to see someone I was familiar with.

"Not at all." I answered, moving a bit so Bastion could sit besides me. It was pretty cool seeing someone I thought was purely fictional in person.

"Ah, my name is Bastion. Bastion Misawa." bastion introduced himself, though unknown to him I already knew who he was.

"Jack Sparrow." I replicated his introduction, and I saw him look surprised for a moment upon hearing my name.

"Wait, Jack Sparrow?" A childish voice proclaimed from somewhere around me. Me and Bastion turned around and saw a short blue haired boy look at me with a surprising amount of admiration. Syrus Truesdale and Bastion Misawa, huh. Unfortunately Syrus was male however, and his look of admiration kinda threw me off.

"Nice to meet you?" I said carefully.

"My name is Syrus Truesdale." The short boy said excitedly. I just smiled awkwardly. Shame Syrus was male, since I would've actually enjoyed having a cute girl fangirl over me. Woe is me I guess. We chatted for a few moments before I was called to the field.

"Number 67, please make your way to dueling field number 4." The announcer called out.

"Looks like I'm up then, see you lot later." I gave my newfound friends a lazy wave and headed towards field 4. Apparently someone let out that I was famous and dueling right now, so there was a big crowd around the field.

"Challenger, you may go first." The Proctor told me, which sucked because my deck was much better going second. Unfortunately the challenger was always to go first, so I activated my duel disk and drew five cards. Meh, not terrible.

"First I play Night Express Knight's effect that lets me normal summon it onto my field. However, it's attack goes down to 0."(3000/0-0/0) The train knight Hybrid made its appearance with a screech, though it shrunk considerably.

"I'll chain its summon by playing Heavy Freight Train Derricrane's effect to special summon it in defence mode."(2800/2000-1400/1000) One of my more famous monsters made its appearance with a shrill train whistle, though like Night Express it shrunk in size. Everyone here knew it didn't matter though, since no one expressed any surprise when I Overlayed the two.

"Now by Overlaying the two, I can Xyz summon Number 35: Ravenous Tarantula!" The two trains disappeared into a bunch of lights and formed together to turn into a giant tarantula on a web.(0/0) When the monster stayed at 0 attack points though, I heard the crowd expressing their doubt at my play. Even the Proctor cocked an eyebrow when I didn't play Gustav Max and instead summoned Tarantula onto the field.

"I know that card, and since we have no Lifepoint difference that monster stays at 0 attack points. Nerves get to you?" The Proctor taunted me. I just shrugged lazily.

"Good thing I'm not done yet, since I Xyz summon once more by using Number 35: Ravenous Tarantula as material for Number 77: The seven sins!" My Tarantula paused for a moment before it's exoskeleton opened and summoned a spider even bigger than before. (4000/3000) I heard a few people scream in fright and disgust in the background.

Somewhere on the stands

"I never knew he ran anything other than Earth Machine." Alexis exclaimed, looking at the giant spider on the field in curiosity.

"It has 4000 attack points. And since its a rank 12 monster, its bound to have a good effect as well." Zane pointed out.

Back to the duel

I ended my turn with a facedown. The Proctor proceeded to draw, before grinning at his hand.

"Powerful monster kid, but I think I've got something better. First I play Deep Sea Diva onto the field and use its effect!(200/400) Now I can special summon one level 3 or lower sea serpent from my deck to the field directly, and I choose Neptabyss the Atleantean prince."(800/0) Deep Sea Diva sung in a beautiful voice and within from the ground Neptabyss appeared with his trident armed.

"They won't be staying long however since I Tune the both of them to Synchro summon Tatsunoko in attack mode!(1700/500) Now using it's effect, I can Synchro summon using cards from my hand, so I tune Tatsunoko and Atlantean Marksman to special summon Coral Dragon in attack mode.(2400/500) The orange dragon roared its arrival to the crowd.

"Now by discarding another Atlantean Marksman, my Coral Dragon is allowed to destroy one monster on the field!" Coral Dragon roared before blasting my spider with a beam of ice. However, my Spider remained unharmed.

"Number 77: The Seven Sins lets me remove one material instead when it would be destroyed by card effect or battle." I called out. The Proctor looked a bit put out, but continued.

"Since I discarded Atlantean Marksman, I get to destroy one set card on the field. So say good bye to your facedown." A harpoon gun hit my facedown and destroyed it, showing it to be Urgent Schedule.

"Now I'll set two cards and end my turn." With that, the Proctor ended his turn and passed to me. I drew, and grinned at my card.

"First, I'll play Number 77: The seven Sins effect. By removing two materials from Seven sins I can remove from play all special summoned monsters from your field and attach one of them as material for my spider." The giant spider spat a glob of web at Coral Dragon, who roared pitifully before being sucked into the giant web around the spider.

"Then I play Harpie's feather duster to destroy your facedowns!" A giant feather duster materialized and proceed to wipe at the facedown cards that were shown to be Defence Draw and Mirror Force respectively.

"Since your field is wide open, I'll proceed to attack directly! Go, number 77: The Seven Sins!" My spider leapt off its web and dashed to the Proctor and loomed over it for a second before spitting poison at him. A lot of people screamed in fear, though the Proctor managed to take the hit valiantly. (LP: 4000-0)

"Good game challenger. With skills like that I expect to see you in the blue dorms soon enough." The Proctor congratulated me, and I accepted it with a modest thanks.

"Well played there Jack." Bastion said while Syrus exclaimed that my spider was scary. I just laughed it off and joined the two in watching other people duel. Apparently they both dueled already so we just sat there watching the remaining duels that wrapped up soon enough. However, there was one last duel I wanted to see, and speaking of the devil Jaden finally appeared at the dueling field and was currently standing across Dr. Crowler.

"And there he is." I muttered, looking at the brown haired boy with interest.

"Late and rude to teachers. I'll make sure you learn some manners, young man." Crowler stated. Challenger always had first move though, so he let Jaden start the duel off.

"I'll start by playing E-Emergency call from my hand! I'll bring Elemental Hero Avian from my deck to hand. Then I'll play Polymerization and fuze Elemental Hero Avian, Elemental Hero Burstinatrix and Elemental Hero Nercroshade from my hand to fusion summon Elemental Hero Core in attack mode! (2700/2200) Then I'll set one card and end my turn with a face down. Your move, teach!" Alright, that surprised me for a number of reasons. For one, Jaden didn't have Elemental Hero Core in the Anime. That confirmed my theory that the main characters had their deck altered as well. They probably kept their main Archtypes, but with modern support added as well I bet. Two, he actually made a good starting move, fusion summoning a good monster with a decent defensive effect on his first turn. Massive improvement when you consider he played Avian and a facedown in the anime. Since all I dueled were younger kids who usually had half cooked strategies I wasn't too sure on the power spectrum of this world, as if it was the same as the anime I would've curb stomped everything here even without my main deck. This, however? Until I actually see a Obelisk Blue student duel I couldn't be too sure if it was just Jaden that was buffed or if the whole world had a massive power up.

"Decent move for a slacker, I suppose. However, you will learn exactly why I am a Doctor with a PHD in dueling. First I play Cost down and discard one card to reduce my monsters level in my hand by two. Then I'll play the field spell Geartown!" A massive factory sprung from the ground with a groan, gears slowly turning in beautiful harmony.

"This lets us both summon Ancient Gear monsters with one less tribute than required. Now, since I played Cost Down I can play Ancient Gear Golem with no tributes!"

Now that was impressive. Crowler did earn his PHD here, unlike the anime apparently.

"Jaden might be in trouble." Syrus said, worried as he looked at the looming Golem.

"This is just the beginning however. I then play Ancient Gear Fusion as well, and since I use my Ancient Gear Golem from the field as material I can choose the other materials from my deck. So by sending two Ancient Gear Knights from my deck as well, I can summon Ultimate Ancient Gear Golem!"(4400/3400) A Massive fucking Golem that looked like a centaur Ancient Gear Golem hell spawn came out, and damn if it didn't look menacing. Syrus looked terrified and Bastion looked impressed as they looked at the hulking beast that stood in front of Crowler.

"Now that's a cool monster, Teach!" Jaden said, slightly awed at the massive monster in from of him.

"Thank you, but I don't think you'll have time to admire my Golem, since I'll have him attack your Hero. Ultimate Ancient Gear Golem, attack with Mechanized Melee!" The Golem groaned slightly as it moved its fist backwards before smashing it into Elemental Hero Core.

"Not so fast! I play Elemental Hero Core's effect. When its chosen as an attack target, I can double its attack points making it stronger than your Golem!"

(2700/2200-5400/2200) Elemental Hero Chaos shone brightly and doubled in size before avoiding the punch and kicking the giant in the head, causing it to crash down.(Crowler LP: 4000-3000)

"What an effect! Ultimate Ancient Gear Golem only prevents spell and traps from activating, not monster effects." Bastion pointed out, impressed. Syrus looked amazed as well as he watched Core destroy the golem. Crowler looked shocked as well, but recovered quickly.

"Ultimate Ancient Gear Golem lets me special summon an Ancient Gear Golem from my grave when destroyed, so I'll special summon it in attack mode. Then I'll set a card face down and end my turn" The rubble from Ultimate Gear Golem rose by its own violation, before forming into Ancient Gear Golem.

"Elemental Hero Core only plays when its attacked, not when it attacks. So Jaden can't penetrate Dr. Crowler's defences with what he has on the field right now." I said, looking forward to how Jaden would turn this around.

"My move. I draw!" Jaden drew his card and grinned happily upon seeing it.

"Sweet! I'll play the Pot of Greed I just drew, letting me draw two more cards. And looks like I have the tools to win this teach! I play Miracle Fusion from my hand, letting me banish Elemental Hero Burstinatrix and Avian to fusion summon Elemental Hero Flame Wingman from my deck! (2100/1200) Then I'll play the field spell Skyscraper as well, letting my monsters gain 1000 attack points when attacking a monster stronger than them. Now, Flame Wingman, attack Ancient Gear Golem!"(Flame Wingman: 2100/1200-3100/1200) Flame Wingman blasted the Golem with fire that caused it to melt onto Crowler. Crowler had molting metal melt onto him making him scream as Flame Wingman's effect triggered and ended the Duel. (Crowler LP: 3000-0)

"Good game, teach." Jaden said with his trademark grin. At least the ending was on par with the anime. With that little bit dusted and done we quickly boarded the ship headed for Duel Academy.
