Link surveyed his surroundings as he entered the seaside village. Seagulls screeched as they flew overhead, and the Hylian hero could smell fish cooking over a fire somewhere nearby. Link's mouth watered at the mere thought of food, but he ignored the desires of his stomach and instead decided to ask around about the ruins that he had heard so much about and wanted to explore.

He spotted a woman humming to herself as she hung her laundry on a clothesline nearby, and though he didn't want to interrupt her, Link was determined to head to the ruins as soon as possible. So he did.

The woman turned around when she heard Link clear his throat. "Oh, hello! Are you a traveler?"

Link nodded.

She smiled. "This is Lurelin Village. We're a small fishing town, and proud of it! My name is Kiana. My husband is a fisherman, and I have two sons who will probably grow up to be fishermen too."

Link cringed inwardly at how enthusiastic the woman was to share so much information with a complete stranger, but he was grateful that she hadn't minded him butting in in the middle of her chores.

Before he could ask Kiana about the ruins, however, a little boy rushed up to her and tugged on the hem of her skirt. "Mommy, Mommy, what are we gonna have for dinner tonight?"

She looked surprised. "Why, I don't know. How about you decide what we have for dinner tonight?"

Her son's face lit up. "I know! Make your seafood paella! It's so good and yummy and great!"

Kiana nodded. "That settles it! I'll make some seafood paella."

The little boy jumped up and down with excitement. "Yaaaaay!"

Suddenly, Kiana's face fell as she remembered something. "Oh… We seem to be a bit short on ingredients though. We'll need goat butter and a hearty blueshell snail. And I'm so busy with housework that I don't have time to go shopping for ingredients."

But apparently you have enough time to stop and tell a traveler all about the village and your family, Link thought. From the look on Kiana's face, however, he knew what was coming next. This always happened whenever he stopped to talk to anybody.

Kiana clapped her hands and turned back to Link. "Oh, I know! Could you go and get me the ingredients we're missing?"

The Hylian hero sucked in a breath of air as he responded. "Sure."

"Really?" It was the lady's turn to light up with joy. "I'm happy to hear that. I'll be waiting!"

Link nodded and let out a disappointed sigh when he was a safe distance away. The chances of still finding those ruins that day were starting to look rather slim.

After a half hour of combing the beach, Link finally found a hearty blueshell snail drifting onto the sand with each wave that splashed onto the shore. But when he headed to the village market and spoke with the woman selling everything there, he found that they didn't have any goat butter to sell.

This meant that he would have to travel around Hyrule in search of a place that sold the butter that he was looking for. Thankfully, Link had activated and completed the shrine that was at the edge of town, so he could teleport right back once he had the missing ingredient.

First, he teleported to Hateno Village, but they didn't have any goat butter there. Link traveled to Goron Village, but of course there wasn't any there either. When he arrived at Rito Village, the general store there had completely sold out of butter. That left Kakariko Village, and it was starting to get dark out.

A knock came from the door of Kiana's hut, and she opened it to find an exhausted Link, covered in mud from a storm and sporting a few bruises on his arms and face.

Before she or either of her kids could ask what happened, Link closed the door behind him and pulled something out of his pouch. "Know that when I went to find the goat butter for your dinner, I went through heck to get it here. I had to fight an old lady for the last stick of butter, and she hit really hard."

One of Kiana's sons timidly asked, "But… you still got the ingredients, right?"

Link opened his hands to reveal a hearty blueshell snail and a stick of goat butter.

The kids cheered, and Kiana thanked the Hylian hero as she took the ingredients from him and went to make the seafood paella. But before she began to prepare the food, Kiana handed Link a purple rupee for all of his trouble.

Running his hand over the shiny gem, Link was reminded why he had set out to get the food items in the first place: because he loved helping others, and sometimes he got a little something in return—but he mainly did it for the sake of being kind.

Kiana spoke to Link as she cooked the food outside of the hut over a fire. "Since you found the missing ingredients, why don't you eat with us? It'll be done soon."

Link absolutely could not turn down an offer like that. Kiana's two boys giggled as they watched the Hylian hero devour his seafood paella like a Bokoblin feasting on a Seared Steak.

When dinner was over, Link said goodbye to the family and headed to the inn for the night. As he climbed into bed, he suddenly remembered that he had forgotten to ask Kiana about the ruins.

Never mind, thought Link as he drifted off to sleep, I'll save that for tomorrow.
