The Devil and The Samurai's Daughter

Chapter One

Disclaimer: I DO NOT own Mortal Kombat or Devil May Cry. The only characters I own are my OC Annalisa and her Cerberus, Akiresu. This story starts toward DMC 3. I will allow CONSTRUCTIVE criticism, as this is my FIRST Mortal Kombat/Devil May Cry story. So PLEASE go easy on me!

~Nine Years Later: Annalisa's POV~

I am now seventeen, and the battle with the fallen Elder God, Shinnok, is still at large. I don't know a lot about the Elder Gods... however, I, at least, know about the ones I worship. Even though the only two I worship are Lord Raiden and his brother, Lord Fujin. I don't know much about the war, either. All I know is that, years ago, Shinnok was trapped in some amulet and now this Mileena character, who I know I've never met, is in possession of said amulet. Takeda and our father have joined the fight, but I want no part in it. In fact, today is the day I tell our father -whom I've learned is the samurai, Kenshi- that I wish to hunt demons.

I made my mind up the day I turned thirteen. I can still clearly remember the conversation with Takeda.

~Flashback~

"Takeda," I say, while coming up to him while he was using a practice dummy.

Takeda stops hitting the dummy, and turns to look at me, sweat decorating his forehead and brow.

"Yeah," he asks, wiping his brow with the back of his hand.

I hand him a water bottle, and a towel. And his deodorant, because MAN did he stink.

"I've given it a lot of thought," I said, playing with my hair, "I don't want to join Mortal Kombat. I don't know anything about the events that are happening and, it's like you always say, you can't walk into a battle blind."

"Okay," Takeda said, "that's totally okay. What do you want to do instead?"

"I've decided, that much like Sparda," I say, a confident smile on my lips, "that I want to hunt demons."

Takeda smiles at me, and nods. Almost like he knew that that was what I was going to choose to do with my life.

"I completely support you," he said, "and in that spirit, I think it's high time I train you to fight."

~Flashback Over~

When my father and brother came back to the Special Forces base, I looked up from the book I was reading. I had a deep love for books, no matter the subject. But my favorite, was by far my copy of The Complete Collection of William Blake. I loved Sir Blake's poems, almost as much as I loved Edgar Allan Poe. I closed my book and walked up to my father. I knew that it was now or never, and that no matter what, I'd have Keda's support.

"Dad," I said, getting his attention.

My father, Kenshi, wore a bright red blindfold over his eyes. He told Takeda and I, when he came back, that he went blind, but never told us how. However, he did tell us that this specific blindfold he was wearing allowed him to see. My father turned his head toward me,

"Yes Annalisa," he asked, with a small smile.

"I have something to tell you."

"What is it, my Little Dragon Blossom?" '

Dragon Blossom is my father's nickname for me, and I have to say, I actually liked it. Takeda's nicknames for me consist of things like, Little Sister, Sakura, or my personal favorite, Dragon.

"I want to tell you," I said, before drawing in a quick breath, "I don't want to help in this fight."

My father did a double-take, before saying,

"What do you mean?"

"Firstly, I know nothing of the enemies we face." I say, "secondly, I just feel like Kombat isn't for me. I want to do what Sparda did. I want to fight demons."

Takeda smiles at me, proud that I was firm in keeping my decision and didn't show signs of backing away.

"Demon hunting is much too dangerous," My father says, "I don't think it's a good idea."

"She's made up her mind," Takeda said, not quite firm, but in a manner that was meant to end the conversation.

"Yes, I have," I said, my voice firm, "and I'm sticking to it. I don't care what anyone says, I'm not changing my decision."

My brother and my father say nothing further for a minute. Though, I knew Takeda was proud of me. My father remained silent for a few more minutes, before he said,

"Very well, Dragon Blossom. I had a feeling that you'd choose a different path anyway."

I was stunned that he actually accepted what I wanted to do, but I didn't complain. I asked him if he knew any good places where I could start my career. And even though my father said nothing at first, Master Hasashi stepped in.

"You should start with Red Grave," he said, "that will be a decent enough place for you to start."

I look toward Master Hasashi, before asking him,

"Red Grave? Why is that a good place to start?"

"I had a friend that used to live there," Hasashi said, looking down ever so slightly, "my good friend, Sparda."

"I thought he was only a myth," I said, bewildered.

"Oh no, my dear," Hasashi said, "he's very much real. In fact, I recently found his youngest son, and asked him to take you in and train you."

"Wait," Takeda said, "you found Dante? I looked everywhere for that guy, and couldn't find him anywhere."

"I had a hard time as well," Hasashi said, "however, I found that he had recently started a Devil hunting business and that he could probably use the extra help. I told him about young Annalisa here, and he agreed to take her in and teach her everything he knows."

I was excited to start, and meet this Dante. I wondered if he was anything like his father. If was as good a fighter and if he looked anything like Sparda. Master Hasashi told me to pack my things, that he would take me there tonight. I saluted, and ran right back for the Shirai-Ryu. I quickly packed my things and waited for him to return. I was excited to begin my new life.

As I waited, Takeda came into my room and told me he would visit when he could, but promised to keep in contact, via letters, phone, whatever he could use. I hugged him, and promised to do the same. My father then hugged me and told me to be careful and that I made him proud. I returned the hug gingerly and told him to also be careful and to keep Takeda's dumb ass in line.

"Hey!" Takeda yelled, with a laugh.

"Not sorry!" I yelled back, sticking my tongue out at him.

Master Hasashi chuckles and tells me that it was time to go, and that he already found me a little apartment so I could get settled. I nod, wave a final goodbye to my father and brother, before Master Hasashi used his flaming cyclone to send us to my new home. To Red Grave.
