Chapter 3

Annabeth

Ok so far Olympus didn't completely suck, Perle daughter of Hermes was pretty cool. I apparently have a sister named Torrun and we have battle training this afternoon, not too bad. My mom's house was incredible, it was a modern building made mostly of glass windows. But on the inside, it was Victorian style with four libraries, not including Torrun's room which was her library. My mom had been cool about the whole situation… so far.

"So your room is down the hall and then to the left and you have your bathroom, closet, and TV in there."

"Cool. Just so I know, am I allowed to use Torrun's library or that of limits?"

"You would have to ask her but I am sure she would let you."

"No."

Out of nowhere, Torrun popped up behind us, she had long dirty blonde hair and surprisingly, blue eyes with little flecks of gray in them. I sighed, unfortunately, one library would be off-limits.

"It's not anything personal, I am just really protective of my books."

"No, I get that."

"If you want I can send you a packet of the names of the books in my collections and their descriptions and you can let me know if you want to borrow any of them."

"Awesome, thanks."

"No problem." Torrun clasped her hands behind her back, turning to walk away before quickly staying "Oh and we have training in like five minutes so you might want to get changed and get a weapon."

--

I was not expecting training to be this horrible, Ares was the instructor for the day and he was everything like a military encampment and on top of that, we (half-bloods) are inferior next to the immortals. There is something called "Hunger Games" training. I have no idea what it is but it sounds awful. On a better note, I got to meet more people, the best so far was Will's sister, Georgia. Will looked horrified around her though. The worst one was one of Ares and Aphrodite's kids, Siren, that's her nickname and I don't want to find out how she got it.

"OK maggots. You all, meaning the immortals have been training for millennia whilst the noobies have only been here for a couple of hours. I do not expect you to go easy on them. I will now give you all sparring partners and as usual when you're done mark it on the whiteboard in the armory. Jackson! You will be fighting the tiny one in the back, but don't let her fool you she is extremely tough. Chase, you will be fighting Siren, don't die." Oh, gods. "Solace you're weak, you are going to fight Frank, and lastly Perle you are going to spar with Levesque. Everyone else, I will evaluate you tomorrow.

I am going to die.

The good news is Siren did not kill me, the bad news is I lost horribly and almost died. We were all crowded in the armory waiting for a debrief from Ares, everyone had been putting their weapons away in designated spots with their names above them. Since I was "new" they told me to throw my knife on the table.

"Do I have to put my knife on the table?" Georgia was the only one who acknowledged me.

"You don't have to but it's just in case something happens to it Hephaestus knows and can fix it or remake it if need be."

"I think I'll keep it with me."

She shrugged. "Suit yourself."

Georgia in my opinion was adorable, she had a button nose, unruly blondish brown hair, and sharp blue eyes. I will admit though she wasn't the helpless little kid she appeared to be, she proved that in training. Will's fear of her seemed more justifiable now she was a strong fighter and always looked somewhat pissed off. Torrun, my sister, was also extremely impressive, easily taking down Ares himself. A familiar voice broke through my thoughts.

"Hey, ready to go?" Torrun asked.

"Definitely, I need a bath." I chuckled

Torrun started leading me out of the armory and through a maze of dozens of elaborate topiaries.

"Training with us is no easy feat, and considering the fact that we are all immortal and you all are half-bloods you did well."

"Thank you?" She laughed a genuine laugh unlike some other people on Olympus, it reminded me of a million tiny little bells and falling water mixed together. It was pretty.

"Let's hope we get home before mom starts experimenting in the kitchen."

"Do I want to know?" She shook her head vigorously.

The house smelled like burnt cheese and olives, hopefully, I would have nose hairs by the time dinner ended. Turns out our mom was not actually making dinner, a wind spirit was flitting around the kitchen grabbing ingredients and dishes. Our mom on the other hand was lounging on the living room couch reading the New York Times.

"What's for dinner Alfie?" Torrun asked.

"Pork chops." She answered back in an ethereal-sounding voice.

"Alfie, this is Annabeth." Alfie smiled at me slightly before resuming cooking.

It's safe to say that dinner was… interesting. It was basically how many trivia questions can you get right to win dessert. It's my turn and I want my dessert.

"Ok, daughter let's see what you got, what was George Washington's favorite breakfast food?

"Pancakes… or as they were called back then, hoecakes."

"Correct." She scooped ice cream into a bowl and then slid it across the table to me.

I had a feeling the rest of my stay would be interesting.
