The two groups quietly made their way down the stairs until they reached what could be considered the entrance to the laboratory that turned out to be hidden underground.
"Do you think there will be anyone inside?" asked Littlefoot.
"There's only one way to find out." said Bloom.
The fire fairy proceeded to knock a couple of times on the door. They waited a few minutes, but no one answered.
"Hello? Is anyone home?" asked Stella loudly hoping someone inside heard her, but again, no answer was heard.
"Maybe they didn't hear us." said Chomper.
"Or maybe there's no one inside." said Roxy.
"Then how are we going to get in? Because I'm not sure I can break down that door." said Cera.
"Leave it to me." said Tecna standing in front of the door and placing her hands on it.
Concentrating, she used her magic to analyze the door's system and after a few seconds of waiting, she managed to get the door to open.
"Wow. I didn't think your magic could be used like that." said Ruby impressed by her friend's magic.
Now that they had access, the two groups were able to enter the lab, only to find it completely dark.
"It too dark in here. Me not see anything." said Petrie fearfully.
"Wait a minute." said Stella before creating a sphere of light and raising it high to give them enough light to illuminate their surroundings.
"That's better." said Musa.
But that's when they realized, thanks to the light, that the place was pretty battered and dusty.
"I didn't know human constructions were like that. No, no, no." said Ducky.
"And they aren't. It looks like no one has come to this place in a long time." said Flora.
A bit of dust fell on Spike's nose and he sneezed as a result.
The two groups moved through the halls of the place and all they saw for the moment were empty aisles with a few tables and boxes full of dust. Their walk brought them to stand in front of a door ajar.
"Well, let's see what's behind door number 2." said Layla before the two groups went through the door.
Once inside, they saw a pile of tables full of papers, glasses full of liquids, empty or broken on the floor; and about five platforms with glass debris that surely acted as a barrier.
"What is this place?" asked Littlefoot.
"It was probably the main research area of the lab." said Bloom.
"But what were they doing here?" asked Ducky.
"I don't know, but I don't think I'm going to like it." said Musa.
Tecna walked over to one of the tables and after pushing some dust aside, she looked through the papers there and what she found made her gasp in surprise.
"Guys, come here!" said Tecna drawing everyone's attention.
"What's going on?" asked Chomper.
"Lucky for us, the documents around here are in our language and it was easy for me to understand them." explained Tecna.
"And what you find out?" asked Petrie.
"Apparently the group working in this lab weren't what we thought they were." said Tecna.
"What does that mean?" asked Flora.
"Apparently they were developing something with which being able to rule over the magical dimension." said Tecna.
"WHAT?!" asked the girls in horror at the revelation.
"Are you saying these scientists were evil?" asked Ruby.
"Yes, I am." said Tecna.
"Now I completely understand why their lab was in this time. So that no one would find out about their evil plans." said Bloom.
"It wasn't just for that reason." said Tecna.
"What do you mean?" asked Littlefoot.
"According to these reports, the scientists had the lab at this time to develop a weapon. A biological weapon." said Tecna.
"When you say biological weapon, do you mean something like the Black Death or something like Frankenstein's monster?" asked Stella.
"More like the latter." replied Tecna.
"What's that Frankenstein thing?" asked Cera.
"A monster that a mad scientist created from scratch. Long story short, it's like you create a dinosaur out of sticks and stones and it suddenly comes to life." said Roxy.
"Oh, that sounds very scary. Yep, yep, yep." said Ducky at the same time that Spike shivered a little as he nodded.
"There's something I don't understand. If those scientists were going to create a weapon to conquer our worlds, why is the place in this state?" asked Musa.
"Most likely the experiment failed somehow and the scientists had no choice but to abandon it." said Tecna.
"That's a yes looking at how this place currently is." commented Layla.
"What kind of dinosaur did they create at this site?" asked Littlefoot.
"From what I've gathered from the reports, it appears to be a dinosaur immune to magic." said Tecna.
"Immune? That mean your magic do nothing to it?" asked Petrie.
"Yes and not only that. It also seems to be smarter, bigger and stronger than a common dinosaur." said Tecna reading the reports.
"More than Red Claw? Surely it must be a scary dinosaur." said Ruby frightened at the thought of a dinosaur more terrifying than that sharptooth.
As they talked, Chomper began to pick up a strange smell and when he turned his head, he let out a muffled gasp when he saw claw marks all over the wall.
"Guys." said Chomper drawing the attention of the others. "I think we're not alone." said Chomper pointing to the marks on the wall.
Suddenly, before anyone mentioned anything, huge footsteps began to be heard from across the room, to which they turned their gaze.
"Uh... Tecna, do you have any idea what kind of creature they created?" asked Musa.
"No, I just know that it was codenamed... Ultimasaurus." said Tecna.
Out of the shadows of the room, came a creature similar to a T-Rex, but he was very different, as he possessed a big crest and horns similar to a Triceratops, the arms were big and long and so were his three claws. It had a curved claw on his feet like a Velociraptor, on his back he had an armor similar to the one of an Ankylosaurus but spiker, including a line of long and big spines that went from his neck to the tail similar to some kind of sail of spikes. As well as a spiked club at the end of the tail and with some big caudal spines similar to the ones of a Stegosaurus.
The Ultimasaurus stared at the two groups who stood transfixed at the sight of the huge, terrifying dinosaur.
"Nobody move a muscle." whispered Bloom as she stood transfixed as did the others.
Unfortunately, Petrie ignored that request.
"AAAHHH!" shouted Petrie at the top of his lungs.
The Ultimasaurus reacted to that by letting out a roar so loud that it made the two groups cover their ears. After that, the hybrid turned around and swung his tail.
"Watch out!" shouted Littlefoot as everyone moved away from the area where he ended up hitting the hybrid's spiked club.
"Okay, I'm starting to figure out what happened in this place." said Stella.
"No time to be impressed. We need to stop that thing before it hurts someone." said Bloom.
"You stay on that side. We'll take care of this." said Flora.
"Just be careful, okay?" asked Littlefoot as he and the rest of the gang stood back from the fight that was about to start.
The Winx and Roxy stood in front of the Ultimasaurus who turned his gaze towards them.
"Girls, Believix transformation!" shouted Bloom as a cluster of multicolored sparkles covered them all and as they faded, they had all transformed into fairies.
Despite the situation, the gang couldn't help but be amazed by the magical appearance of the girls.
The Ultimasaurus took it as a sign of defiance and roared in response to that challenge.
He tried to hit them with his tail club, but they dodged it by flying to either side until it surrounded the hybrid.
"Fire Arrow!" shouted Bloom shooting a beam of fire that hit the hybrid full on, but, to her surprise, it didn't affect him at all. "What?"
The Ultimasaurus let out a roar before trying to attack her with his claws, but Bloom was able to move out of the way in time.
"Wolf Talon!" shouted Roxy shooting a wolf-shaped energy beam that hit the hybrid's face, but it didn't affect him at all. "But how...?" asked Roxy before dodging to the side to dodge the tail club.
"Sun Dance!" shouted Stella shooting a sphere of light.
"Harmonic Attack!" shouted Musa shooting a beam of energy.
Both attacks hit the hybrid, but neither gave him a scratch.
"Nothing we threw at it seems to affect it." said Layla.
"I guess it turns out to be true in the end about him being immune to magic." said Tecna.
"That's going to complicate things." said Flora.
The hybrid dinosaur roared in rage before he started attacking with his claws and tail, but the fairies nimbly dodged each attack.
Unfortunately, the Ultimasaurus proved to be very clever, for as soon as Bloom and Tecna dodged a claw attack, he rammed them with his head, sending them crashing into the wall and knocking them down in the process.
"Girls!" shouted Roxy in concern.
The Ultimasaurus took advantage of that moment of distraction to slam his tail into her and send her crashing into Musa knocking them both down.
"Morphix Net!" shouted Layla throwing some morphix ropes to bind the hybrid, which shook a bit before grabbing the ropes with his jaws and, with a yank, sending the fairy flying to crash into Flora and knocking them both down.
"You'll pay for this. Universe of Light!" shouted Stella creating a light so bright that it forced the Ultimasaurus to close his eyes.
However, despite being sightless, the hybrid dinosaur used his ears to locate the fairy. It grabbed a table near him with his jaws and hurled it at Stella, causing her to land on a device in the lab.
"Oh no! He's defeated them all!" said Cera.
"That sharptooth is stronger than I imagined." said Chomper.
"What are we going to do now?" asked Ducky.
Littlefoot was about to say something when suddenly, something caught his attention. The device Stella fell on began to release sparks and then, an alarm sounded throughout the room.
The platforms around the room began to glow red, blue, gray, and green.
From the first platform, stones and flames emerged and swirled until they formed a kind of Velociraptor made of fire and rock, with a flame on his head, back and the tip of his tail.
From the second platform emerged a chunk of ice that began to grow until it took the shape of a Velociraptor made of ice with spines on his back and tail, acting as a spiked club.
From the third platform, a drop of liquid metal emerged that grew larger as it took shape and, when it solidified, looked like a Velociraptor made of metal, like armor, but with sharp spines on his back, a horn on the tip of his nose and a pointed ball at the end of his tail.
And from the fourth platform, a small plant emerged that grew until it took the shape of a Velociraptor made of plants with a leafy mane, spines on his back and a leaf at the tip of his tail.
Both the gang and the fairies were shocked to see these creatures and the worst was when they saw them move.
The Ultimasaurus turned his gaze to the Velociraptors and they began to speak in their own language.
"What are they saying, Chomper?" asked Ruby.
"Well, I think he's appointing them his special command... and he's asking them... to wipe everything out!" said Chomper in shock upon hearing that.
Before anyone mentioned anything, the Ultimasaurus let out a roar and the four elemental raptors ran out of the room through the door, shortly before the hybrid followed them at a slow pace, breaking through the wall in the process.
"We won't let you escape! Flaming Armor!" shouted Bloom, creating a magical barrier in front of the hybrid, but he continued on his way, smashing through the barrier like it was nothing.
"Quick! We have to follow them!" said Littlefoot.
Wasting no time, the two groups quickly left the lab, following the trail of destruction the hybrid dinosaur left in his wake, but when they emerged, they found neither the Ultimasaurus nor the elemental raptors.
"What in the world were those things?" asked Stella wanting to know about the raptors.
"When I checked the reports, they mentioned something about a separate project that involved creating an army of artificial dinos that would act under the Ultimasaurus' command." said Tecna.
"That would explain why they took their side right away." said Layla.
"We have to stop them. If we let them loose out there, they could hurt anyone who crosses their path." said Roxy.
"Oh, no. We can't allow that. No, no, no." said Ducky.
"I'll fly a little higher and see what I can find out." said Musa flying high in the sky.
"Petrie, you go too." said Littlefoot before the flyer took flight beside the music fairy.
The two flew high enough to see much of the surrounding landscape. From there they could see the path each of the lab-generated predators were going and quickly returned to the ground to report their findings.
"It's worse than we imagined. Those elemental creatures are advancing rapidly along various paths." said Musa.
"And sharptooth terrors slowly heading for Great Valley." said Petrie.
"Oh, no. They're all in danger." said Ruby.
"What are we going to do? Even if we outnumber them, that Ultimasaurus is immune to any magical attack we launch." said Flora.
"Not to mention those strange fast biters." said Cera.
Bloom put her hand to her chin, thinking of a plan to resolve the situation.
"Petrie, you said the Ultimasaurus was advancing slowly, right?" asked Bloom.
"Yes. Me watch sharptooth walk quietly." said Petrie.
"Just as I suspected." said Bloom.
"What do you mean?" asked Chomper.
"I think the Ultimasaurus is so confident in his abilities that he's taking it easy, that's why he's not running into the valley. I suggest that, while he's at a slow pace, we take care of the others." said Bloom telling her plan.
"Are you sure? It doesn't sound like a good plan if we let the Ultimasaurus run wild." said Tecna.
"Maybe, but it's our best option if we want to stop them all." said Bloom.
"Then we'd better split up. The sooner we finish off those raptors, the sooner we can all go against the Ultimasaurus." said Layla.
"And we'll help you." said Littlefoot earnestly.
"No, kids. This is much more dangerous than anything you faced before." said Flora, not wanting to put them in danger.
"Still we don't plan to stand around knowing those sharpteeth are on the loose." said Cera.
"We won't let them harm our home or our families. No, no, no." said Ducky.
Spike nodded in agreement.
"But you could get hurt!" said Stella.
"And so could you." said Chomper.
"We are friends and we can't let you get hurt because we are friends." said Ruby.
"Aren't you afraid?" asked Roxy.
"Oh, me very afraid, but me more afraid of knowing those sharpteeth can harm somebody." said Petrie.
"We are going to help you and you can't do anything to stop us." said Littlefoot with determination.
The girls looked at each other before looking at the gang and could tell that their looks of bravery and determination were the same looks they had when they made a firm decision despite what others said and that was enough to convince them.
"All right. If that's what you want, you can help us. But the slightest danger and you leave without exception, understood?" asked Bloom speaking strictly.
"We will." said Littlefoot smiling as he saw that they could help his friends fight the artificial sharpteeth.
"Very well. Here's the plan. Stella, Cera, Tecna and Ruby; you go one way. Layla, Ducky, Musa, and Petrie; you go on the other side. Flora, Spike, Roxy, and Chomper; chase the third one. Littlefoot, you and I will go after the last one. Remember, we have to hurry to defeat those Velociraptors before the Ultimasaurus reaches the valley and causes a much bigger disaster." said Bloom setting up the teams.
"But what happens when we face that monster? Our magic won't affect it in any way." said Stella.
"We'll cross that bridge when we get there. Let's get going." said Bloom.
Each fairy grabbed her dinosaur partner (except Musa) and they took flight each in a direction at full speed, as they had time to waste if they wanted to stop both the elemental raptors and Ultimasaurus.
AN: What's up? You probably didn't expect me to bring out the Ultimasaurus from Jurassic Park, did you?
Honestly, I wonder what would have happened if it had appeared in the movies or the animated series.
The next few chapters will be battles, so if there's a problem with anything, let me know.
See ya!
